As an out-of-state visitor with no other way to leave, I was effectively trapped. I didn't sign a $915/month lease because I wanted a deal; I signed because it was the only way to get my property back and finally go home. 1. The Insurance Sabotage: To hide the true cost of this $915 note, the staff committed a blatant act of financial sabotage. Without my knowledge or consent, they fudged my insurance policy to liability-only just to show a "cheap" quote. This left me legally exposed, in breach of my lease, and facing a $500/month insurance correction ($1,400 total monthly) once I restored the required full coverage. 2. The Math: After $2,000 down, I am paying over $54,000 for a truck valued at $40k-$45k. This was not a "favor"; it was a calculated exploitation of a service member. I had a very disappointing experience at this Toyota dealership and feel it's important to share my experience so others can be cautious. The process took the entire day, with repeated assurances that they would be able to meet the specific monthly payment we requested. Based on those promises, we were encouraged to move forward, including transferring our belongings to the new vehicle and switching over our license plates before even meeting with the finance manager. Once we finally sat down with the finance manager, the experience became even more concerning. We were asked to begin signing documents before being clearly told what the final monthly payment would be. When the payment amount was finally disclosed, it was nearly double what we had discussed and agreed to earlier in the day. It felt as though the full financial details were intentionally delayed until after paperwork was already in progress. This process felt misleading and unprofessional. I strongly recommend that anyone considering purchasing here insist on seeing and confirming the exact monthly payment in writing before signing anything, transferring insurance, moving personal belongings, or switching plates. Transparency and honesty are essential in major financial decisions like purchasing a vehicle. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I had a terrible experience here. I traveled from a distance for a specific used vehicle. They did not honor the price that was advertised. I should have walked out the door at that point but they wore me down. Once I agreed to a price it was hours upon hours before the car was ready and the financials were in place. I'm pretty sure they forgot about me once they had a deposit. I think it was probably 6 hours all told that I sat in their dealership waiting. I bought a gold certified used car but that apparently means nothing. The car had had a minor accident where the rear lift gate had apparently sustained some damage. The carfax reported as much but it looked fine so I didn't worry about it because it's certified. The salesperson mentioned it in passing but I was never given a written copy of the report. Shame on me for not investigating further. It turns out the certified warranty doesn't cover pre-existing damage (shouldn't a certified car not have pre-existing damage if it's been inspected properly?). A couple months later I notice water leaking through the rear hatch. The car had been fixed but not done properly (no idea who did the work--probably someone else to be fair). The lift gate button and wiring harness need to be replaced as well as the rear window replaced or re-sealed due to water leakage. The price for those fixes is $2000. Toyota does not want to cover it because it is "pre-existing damage." Avoid this dealership at all costs. They don't inspect cars properly and won't back up their cars. Trais in service is very much appreciated for his informative responses and his pleasant nature. I was very pleased in seeing my windshield wiper fluid top off as I drove my car inside. As a customer if I could be present to see all fluids topped off that would be great. I would only appreciate that once the maintenance is completed a sit down could be held with the service person to hear everything that was completed for the maintenance that day. My son was very clear from the start: he wanted to trade in his vehicle, pay off the balance, and if any remaining equity to use as a deposit on a used vehicle he could actually afford. ​Instead of listening, the sales team Jason Endara relentlessly pushed him towards a brand-new vehicle. Jason spent the entire day "reassuring" him that everything was going smoothly and that the monthly payments and insurance quotes would fit within his stated budget. He even went as far as to take the plates off his old car, put new ones in the new car before the final paperwork was even clear. ​The "shocker" came at the end of the day: After being told all day that the numbers worked, the final contract had monthly payments nearly double what he requested and could afford. The insurance quote they "helped" him get was handled so poorly that we have already received a cancellation notice. They took advantage of a first-time solo buyer to secure a higher commission rather than looking out for the customer's best interests. ​My Advice is "DO NOT sign a single piece of paper here until you see the final balance in writing. They are looking out for their commissions, not your financial well-being. I feel terrible for referring my son to a place that treated him this way. When asked to remove them, they pretended to "negotiate" while simply making me wait at the reception for 20-30 minutes. They seem to think this is a clever sales tactic, but it only makes them look like dishonest traders. After we finally agreed on a price, they asked for a deposit while waiting for bank approval -- then stopped responding and raised the car's price. They still proceeded with a hard credit inquiry, seemingly as part of continuing their upselling attempts, and never honored the agreed terms. Later they told me that the price had increased because another customer decided to buy the car. In reality, it seems they were just experimenting with pricing at the expense of customers' time and credit scores. I had to contact my credit company to get the deposit refunded, because the salesperson was asking for my card number and CVV to process the refund, which seemed completely unprofessional. read more

Purchased my car, paid in full and had to wait 2 months to receive my car. On the day of pick up, they pulled the car in front of the dealership the car was covered in marked from the car wash. They refused to say it was from that. They took the car back to get detailed. after waiting 3 hours the car still had scratches. Ordered parts and its been a week and no call yet from the dealership. No one should go through what i did. The manager Shermica was ok to deal with and promised to fix the issues. I explained to Shermica Malcolm (manager) the lies (partial truths) that Matthew Kass told me about the cost of the car, the ease of charging the vehicle, and the easy access to free chargers nationwide for 1 year for free. Shermica Malcolm called back and told me that there's nothing she can do, everything was explained to me, and I knew what I was signing even though she wasn't there. I said I will be filing a police report against Matthew Kass, I will sue him, I will report Advantage Toyota to the FBI, DA office, DMV, BBB, and she said "ok. Make sure they get my name right". I repeated to Shermica Malcolm that I will be filing a complaint with the DA, DMV, BBB, and more and she said to me "make sure they get my name right" then gave me her card. They ruined my life. They tried to steal $500 deposit from me, then coerced me into taking $10,000 unnecessarily from me (because I was promised that I only needed $4,000 down payment, I waited 5 hours, then at signing told me that I actually needed $10,000 to get the promised monthly payment). Beware of Shermica Malcolm (sales manager) and Matthew Kass. Fraudulent business tactics at this dealership because of their hidden fees and mishandling of peoples $500 deposit (they won't give it back). Appointment was on time, they got me up and running in 7hrs, new Battery and new Alternator. Upon pickup, my driver side pillows were thrown to the passenger side. Upon arriving in Maryland and inspecting the work, I found my red + terminal cover upside down, sitting on the oil dipstick. 10 days later, 20 degree weather, no start. Turn the key, everything lights, turn to start, everything dies, check the cables for tightness, nothing loose. On day three ALL fuses and relays have been checked. I put the meter on the battery, 12.6v. I turn the key to start and it drops to 2.1v, I connect the jump pack, it fires right up (So, open cell in the battery from the cold). Day 3, it warms up 20 more degrees, car now starts on is own. I make an appointment at local Maryland Heritage Toyota, {Alphonso is a jerk, worried about his day, not the customer, "you know that's a salvage title, we don't have to warrant anything".} They test and say the battery is fine, loose negative terminal, "Just came off in his hand" (I checked this first). When I checked under the hood still at the dealer, My red + terminal cover was laying stuffed down between the battery and the Air filter box. {I am still thinking "Cold temp open cell".} If problem persists, I will chargeback on my credit card the cost of the battery and installation, and put in my own Battery. All in All, I'm still not impressed with going to the Dealer. read more

To whom it may concern. I was at Toyota in 5/17/25 for an oil change. I arrived there at about 7:15 am and I didn't get out of there until about 11:15 am. I was there for 4 hours and spent $211.00 for the service. After spending this kind of money and spending 4 hours of my Saturday at Toyota I was extremely disappointed that when asked about a complementary car wash I was told that it is no longer provided. We took our car in before 8 a.m. for routine service and a recall repair. We were assured when we made our reservation that the work would be finished in one day. When we called after noon to find out if our car was ready, we were told they'd need to keep it until after Thanksgiving. After stressful conversations with our service advisor during which he was unhelpful and in our opinions downright argumentative, we needed to ask to speak to the service manager to get the issue resolved. When we picked up the car were were told that they'd only done the warranty repair, not the routine maintenance. But the paperwork said they'd done the routine maintenance. We'd never use the service advisor again and are still considering whether to continue using the service department despite having positive experiences in the past using other service advisors. When they sent us an email requesting that we rate their performance the system would not accept our one star review. That tells me not to believe the ratings they show on their site. read more

My wife will never again in life buy a car from Advantage Toyota in Valley Stream. They saw her coming and ripped her of. They overcharged for a basic RAV4 AWD. By at least $3,800 not including the APR they put it at 9.88 when she has top tier credit so the rate should be between 4.59-6.33%. I asked them what the buy rate is and they wouldn't tell me. They wouldn't give the out the door numbers. If your looking for a Toyota or any other brand I suggest you buy a used one from Hertz rental car company. Or a new car from dealerships in Queens. Don't go to Advantage Toyota. They changed the price 3 times in 15 minutes, $34,500, then $38,895, then $40,810, they say you can't get the web-site price of $33,330. Why? It's just cheating, false advertising. They said the Gap insurance and warranty is $6500, then they said it was $6800, come to find out it was $9450 which we cancelled once we found out what they charged almost $3,000 more then what they said.
