New owners suck. Food isn't as good. The flavor is different, rice is terrible, when it used to be awesome. They Nickle and Dime you for sauce and won't accept credit cards over phone. They also charge you 4% if you pay by card and not cash. So hard up I will be discontinuing my business there. It wasn't like we ordered a little either our bill was over $80.00 for take out. They have very good food here, I specifically love the wraps and the pizza. I order in all the time and I am never disappointed. The only reason I'm not giving it the full 5 stars is because the staff can be rude sometimes in the store, so I prefer to order in. However a young man by the name of Sergio helped me out last time I went in, I asked for his name just to write this review. He was wonderful and helped me when nobody else would. It is guys like him that keep the American labor force going, Sergio may not run the place but him and others like him are the backbone of this joint and I think they would crash and burn without him. read more

Wow! I was starving and looking forward my Chicken Gyro. $50 dollars later (4 Gyros and a soup) The worst Gyro and soup I have ever had. I rarely give my opinion but this one was needed. 3 1/2 is probably more fair. Consider this as more of a pizza place than fine dining...it is rated as such. Good solid casual dining and takeout....stick with the Greek menu, salads and regular pizza. Gyros and regular pies are typically our take out staples. Pricing is on par and the restaurant is neat and clean. Parking at times can be a hassle especially around lunch time and Fri/Sat nights. The owner is typically nice, sometimes intense and in rare occasions in a bad mood (staffing issues). As others have said...staffing is hit or miss...over the years and depending on the shifts, it could be great or you could get some attitude. read more

The owner, Mike is so rude. His staff screws up your order and still he yells at you for calling to complain. Food has gone completely down hill too. Don't make the mistake of ordering a salad with your hot food.........they pack the salad on the bottom so it always come home wilted. read more

Mike does a great job of delivering menu items that are comfort food and perennial. Whenever I feel a cold coming on, I order the Greek chicken soup. It is a surefire cure for the common cold with its lemon and steaming chicken. Aeges has a neighborhood vibe and and a clean dining area. Some of the reviews here mention that it is noisy. You are in Queens, okay? If you want a quiet hideaway try something in the Berkshires. read more

Aegea is legit. My boyfriend always craves Aegea calamari. You really can do no wrong with anything you order. Best greek sandwiches, wraps, and salads. Tzatziki is the best you will ever try. By far my favorite place to eat in Douglaston. It's almost as if it's a fast food place, even when they're busy, if you order in and eat at the restaraunt your food comes out within minutes and the food is very fresh! The manager is very accomodating which I love and the servers/counter girls are very sweet as well. Going forward, even their delivery service is on point. Every time I order from there the girl on the phone tells me 35-45 min and it always comes on time. Best service is Douglaston, I reccomend this place to everyone. =) read more

The owner Mike always seems to have a chip on his shoulder. When paying the bill, it is always a lump sum rather than a breakdown of what you ate. The food is good, service is good but it's the owner that bothers me. Also one important item is I never see gloves being worn when making food. read more

The food is good. But this place tries every scam in the book they will never provide at itemized bill instead just a grand total. They also will try to scare you into not using credit card in any way possible. THEY TELL YOU THEY CAN NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARD OVER THE PHONE!!!! They are fools as every other restaurant in the area that delivers does accept credit card over the phone. Also, the owner mike who owns this place treats his employees like crap he talks to them with no respect and acts like a control freak. I am pretty sure this place participates in tax evasion and also, does not provide the employees with proper labor conditions. read more

Excellent spot for a Greek fix. The staff is polite and helpful and the menu is pretty extensive for such a small place. I ordered the spinach pie which was fresh and huge for one person. Me and my boyfriend both got salads, he got the gyro salad which had tons of gyro meat and I got the acropolis which was meat-free but the goat cheese was fresh and the dressing was not overwhelming at all. They actually use mixed greens , not only romaine or iceberg.This was our first time but def not our last. Parking is a bit of a challenge, but it was worth driving around for a few minutes. read more

All the food Greek related is terrific. I haven't tried any of the Italian food so I can't comment on that. The only problem is that every single time I have picked up food from them, there is a guy behind the grill area yelling at the staff (I assume its the owner?). Its makes for a very unprofessional and uncomfortable experience and actually makes me order from Aegea less that I would normally. I feel bad for the staff. Food was pretty good, and the service was good. My dinner was ruined by listening to a gentleman who I think was the owner bark orders at his staff and speak to them in a degrading manor. Forget the subpar food...it is the horrible staff and service that make this place even worse. Living across the street from them has shown management screaming and fighting out in front of their place with their OWN STAFF nonetheless with cursing, cause that says family dining!..Their bread is delivered in a brown paperbag and left on the floor prior to opening. Oh and my favorite, they leave their delivery car running in the BUS STOP and don;t care about the traffic or the problems it creates. Oh and the burger I got there was burnt dry. I stopped by Aegea after about a 2+ year hiatus and they are still as amazing as I remember. There is a big sign in the window for "Recession Special Pizza" but what this place does best is Greek food. My boyfriend and I split a Combo Meat Platter and both ended up full. We selected the Greek sausage and chicken kabob as our meats and they were friggin delicious. The chicken was juicy on the inside, nicely crisped on the outside and perfectly seasoned. The Greek sausage was made with lamb (which I normally dislike) but the seasonings on it were delicious and it had picture-perfect grill marks. The Greek salad that came along with the platter had just the right amount of dressing and was made with good salad-not just the watery pieces of iceberg lettuce. We asked for the greek fries which come with oregano and feta and they were awesome. Paired with their delicious tzaziki sauce, we were both in heaven. Will definitely be going back here! read more
