    Traditional Pistachio Baklava

Stopped in due to the delicious aroma and the overall vibe of the store was beautiful! Small and beautifully decorated with an array of coffees and sweets. Me and my love got the Baklava and was absolutely delicious! Great service and prices as well. Highly recommend

A quick search tells me that a few countries border the Aegean Sea. Largely by Greece and parts of Türkiye. It is no wonder that I identified the sweet treats here as Turkish Delight at the first glance, but upon reading more, I realized that Greece also has similar treats (loukoumi) and so it's more of a regional delight. Recently I got some of these treats via UberEats. I ordered a few things to try, but the shop must have ran out because I got a few substitutes. The owner also gave us a free piece for the trouble. All tasted pretty good. I especially enjoyed the Chocolate Hazelnut Brownie Turkish Delight- 1/4LB which thankfully, was not substituted. Since they also serve Greek and Turkish coffee as well as tea, I may pay a visit next time I'm in this part of Castro. I usually go to the Philz Coffee next door, so maybe that's why I haven't been in. If you are not in SF and want to order these delights, you can go to their website: aegeandelights.com to order because it looks like they work with shop pay. Located on Castro St. between 18th and 19th St. next to Philz Coffee.

This shop has delighted me since it opened about 5 years back. The very hospitable and fun-loving owner really knows his customers and is constantly finding new ways to delight them with unusually flavorful Turkish Delight (very appropriate) and next-level baklava. This is variety and quality you won't find elsewhere in the Bay! Enjoy all the goodies in this charming one-of-a-kind space with a cardamom coffee or Greek lavender tea.

Aegean Delights in the Castro (close to Philz) is a gem! Cute coffee shop with awesome turkish souvenirs. Haven't tried their drinks, but their baklava is , and I usually order it on DoorDash. Fresh, perfectly sweet, and crunchy. The Turkish owner knows their stuff. Highly recommend!

I loved the Turkish delight. Can you eat happiness . Yummy on all of the coffee which is given black and you can make your own blend. Such a wonderful owner who gave us some much needed conversation and attention. What a nice dopamine high with a joyful atmosphere.

The pistachio baklava was so good! This is such a cute new little shop, and the vibe is so cool. There's a bunch of fun stained glass lamps hanging from the ceiling, and a bunch of cultural jewelry. There was a plethora of different delicious treats there, so we'll definitely try it next time! The staff were super nice too.

Come for the delicious variety of sweet Turkish delights, colorful jewelry, exotic coffee and tea, treasures, including candles shaped in the phallic symbol. We choose the aphrodisiac and Eros' Love sweets: delicious with nuts and chewy goodness. Coffee was also available, and there was a small seating area where we ate our sweets. It's a fun shop to browse and explore a part of Turkish culture!

This is such a great addition to San Francisco! There are so many freshly made treats, which I previously only had access to via imported international groceries (that were likely made months ago). Here, they may look familiar, but they taste so much better when they're made locally!!! Sultan's Hat Pistachio Baklava: Probably my favorite of the baklavas I tried. It had the right balance of crispy top layer, moist nutty center and syrupy bottom. Moisty Large Shobiyet: I love a moist bottom baklava, but this might have too moist. It was kinda mushy/pasty, like you couldn't really tell if there used by many thin layers on the bottom. But the top and the nutty center were fine. Chocolate Baklava: Like regular baklava, but with a layer of ganache-like chocolate just under the top. I love chocolate, but regular baklava is fine, so next time I'll just stick with the original. Chocolate Covered Halva: The halva inside is a lot more airy than the dense imported halva you buy at international groceries. Definitely a fan of having it fresh. The chocolate coating tasted good and helped ensure you fingers didn't get sticky. Turkish Delights: There were four different flavors of cubes covered in powdered sugar. I think it was lemon, orange, pomegranate pistachio and something else. The texture for all of them was great, a lot less rubbery than the imported boxes you might get at store. The flavor wasn't super pungent, except for the lemon, and I was kinda hoping for something a little less subtle. Rose Roll: This seemed like a roll with layers of rose petals, thin Turkish delight and white nougat. Shaped like a little sushi roll when cut to order. Really love this, probably one of my favorite things here. So many textures and flavors going together. Pistachio Roll: Similar to the rose roll, but crusted with pistachio pieces. Also a delicious mix of so many ingredients. Chocolate Hazelnut Roll: I was hesitant to try this, since it looked so out of place, but I'm glad I did. It's encrusted with mini-M&Ms (or similar brand) with an outer layer of chocolate Turkish delight (which is just ok) and an inner layer of chocolate hazelnut spread (which is amazing). And some roasted hazelnuts inside to be extra. I still like the other two rolls more, but this was so memorable and addictive.

This Turkish cafe (coffee and sweet treats) is a little Castro gem. The guy who helped us was so kind, helpful, and welcoming ~ you can tell he's a proud business owner and he wants to share his culture with others. The seating is cute and he brings out the coffee to you. So many treats to try and enjoy with the dark coffee. Also lots of cool trinkets and decor here, I'll buy some as gifts for friends on their birthdays. Baklava reminded my partner of how his Bosnian grandma use to make it - so that's how you know it's good!! My star rating: 5 - must go!!! 4 - liked it, give it a try! 3 - it was alright 2 - I probably won't go back 1 - turnaround and run

Pete runs a Greek bazaar of jewels and baklava , various sweets from Greece. His Turkish and Greek coffees are superb. You really feel a rocket launch from his coffee . I have a necklace from there that came with good luck embedded in the beads. He has you make a wish before he pours your coffee. The place has wonderful seating. So nice! The grim antiseptic cold chairs of some coffee shops ruin the whole ordeal .

I'm always hunting for spots like this because I have a weakness for those over-the-top, Instagram-worthy desserts that look like diabetes in a dish. Like most places in this genre, A Buttercup is small, modern, and minimalist with limited seating. If you plan to go, aim for off-hours unless you enjoy waiting in line for sugar. The decor is cute and trendy, perfect for photos if that's part of your dessert ritual. As they say, "you eat with your eyes first," and when it comes to presentation, this place definitely gets an A+. The desserts look stunning and set high expectations. Unfortunately, that's where things started to crumble. It's like going to see your favorite artist live. You've watched the videos, memorized the songs, and paid for the experience. But instead of the electric performance you imagined, you get someone lip-syncing and barely connecting with the crowd. That was this place in dessert form. We ordered the Mango Bingsoo on our first visit, and when it arrived, we were surprised by how small the portion was. The guy next to us even looked over and said, "Whatever that is, I'm getting that next time." He shouldn't have. The Bingsoo looked great but was bland, and the "snow" was more chunky ice than soft shave. The Thai Tea Roti was also not what I expected. It came with Thai tea ice cream and sauce alongside a roti that was fried to a crunch. Interesting idea, just not the best execution. The sauce and ice cream needed a stronger Thai tea flavor to balance the crispy roti, and the flavors never quite came together. Overall, A Buttercup nails the aesthetics but misses the flavor. If you're here for the photos, you'll be happy. If you're here for the taste, you'll leave with a full camera roll and an unsatisfied sweet tooth.

Thankfully the line moved fairly fast, and when I got close to the front, I saw that they allow three samples per person to keep customers moving. The store is larger than it looks with some seating along the sides and back. I opted a small cup of the lychee black tea and auntie Kendra's garden. The lychee black tea was INCREDIBLE, strong, strong tea and fruit flavor, perfectly creamy, and not too sweet. The more memorable of the two, however, was definitely Auntie Kendra. It was a vanilla base with salty plum juice, passion fruit, and preserved lemon peel. The delicate vanilla, the lemon aroma without the sour tang, the floral, exotic passion fruit, and the unexpected punch of salt and earthiness from the plum juice, this is a WHOPPER of a flavor. Every bite allowed me a new appreciation of the layers of flavors in this scoop. While a bit pricy, Garden creamery is on par with the other local ice cream spots in SF and well, the flavors and my enjoyment of them speak for themselves. I will definitely be making more trips out here to try their other flavors!
