Extremely Disappointed - Warranty Ignored Despite Multiple Follow-Ups I'm genuinely disappointed that I have to leave this review just to try and get a response. In 2023, I purchased a large custom awning for my backyard, paying over $13,000. I was told it came with a warranty, which was one of the main reasons I chose this company. In April 2024, I noticed one of the corners had started tearing. I called the company immediately. The receptionist, Pam, mentioned she was retiring and gave me John's direct number. When I spoke with John, he said he needed to verify my warranty. A few days later, he confirmed it and told me that Brian would be contacting me to take care of the issue. I spoke with Brian on May 6 and even included a screenshot of our conversation. Since then, I've followed up multiple times via phone and text. He promised to schedule a tarp pickup--but never showed up. No updates, no calls back. Completely unreliable. As a repeat customer--having purchased not one but two awnings from this company--I expected better. The quality of their work is good, but that means nothing if they disappear the moment you need warranty support. If you're considering working with this company, be warned: they may deliver a great product, but if something goes wrong, you're on your own. The lack of communication and accountability is incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. I truly hope this review gets their attention, because I'd still like to see this handled the right way. If the company makes this right, I will gladly remove this review. But as of now, I cannot recommend them. read more

I'm unclear as to how this business receive the rating it did. It took the guy over 5 months to come and start/complete the job after multiple cancellations, calls, texts, and emails. Once the job was "complete" the ground part where the poles were installed were left incomplete. I continued to call in regard to that area and it took another, when he felt like it, for him to come back out. Additionally, the deposit was complete ASAP. Affordable Awning company is a very bad business to deal with. Brian came to my house and he told me he will fix my broken awning completely. After 5_6 weeks he sent the guys to work on it. After they are done the problem was not fixed and the awning was left loose. I called Brian and asked and explained to him about the problem then he said the hands are very weak and you have to replace them. He needed $600 in addition to the $3200 i already paid. The problem is the material was lose and he did not get the measurements correctly. This was supposed to be an easy fixed all he needed is just take it back and tighten it a bit and the problem solved. I communicated with Brian so many times and last time he told me the hands will arrive tomorrow I ordered it for you. He lied too much and I regret so much dealing with this business before I do further research. They were recommended to me by my neighbor. I wish if I did not go through this. I also feel bad leaving this review but I felt I am being pushed to warn others not to go through this. I have never dealt with a customer service where I felt that way. Please do your research before you decide working with this company. Look for better service and better quality and also better value. Their charge is pretty expensive. I believe they did that intentionally because they provide poor quality service and they make more money that way. read more

John, the sales rep I was assigned was an absolute rude, stupid sounding, loud mouthed , flake. He must have learned his customer service skills at a local junkyard or selling used toilet seats at yard sales. This flake cuts you off and blurts out insults to people and trys to "close you by quickly saying" you want it it not?" With an Okie type slang .And " I am real busy right now so are you gonna buy it what? Dealing with him was an indication that maybe they are all like that?. I spoke to the production manager and he was great but he quickly informed me that the price was wrong and it would be 700 less..... A significant amount. I called to report this dinosaur of sales people from back in the cave man days and a lady begged me not to Yelp them. She would not tell me her position. We bought seven window dome awnings from this company a few years ago. The stitching on the trim failed, so the trim is hanging off in places. We contacted the company about repair. Their website says the following: "For unmatched durability we only use the finest American-made materials, such as powder coated steel frames, premium thread and luxurious Sunbrella fabrics. These water, fade and mildew resistant fabrics are available in over 140 colors, stripes and patterns, and are backed by a 10-year warranty." They informed us that they do not repair anything, but would give us a quote to re-cover the frames. Their price to do that was approx 22% HIGHER than the original purchase price, even though the original price was not cheap, and included the frames that are obviously not included again in the re-cover quote. I emailed them and asked why the failure was not covered by their 10 year warranty, and to justify the high quote for the re-cover. Here is the reply I received: "Hi Peter, Sunbrella considers failure of this nature from wind damage not product failure. if the fabric deteriorates within 10 yrs they will cover it. As far as the price, You can shop it with any other Awning company and you will see were not out of line. Please let me know if you have any other questions." So, pretty much, according to them: failure is not a failure if they don't say it is, the warranty doesn't apply, and if you don't like their price then find somebody else. What a great way to build customer loyalty! (that's sarcasm, btw). In summary, their business model seems to be to charge a lot for a product that won't last, refuse to repair that product when it fails, decline to stand behind their product and their warranty, quote a rip-off price for replacement, and, if the customer questions any of the foregoing, tell them to get lost and find somebody else if they don't like it. Do you want to buy anything from a company with that attitude? Be warned, learn from our mistake. read more

Zach came out to fix our 20' x 15' fallen shade (previously custom made and installed by Riverside Tent and Awning aprox 2 years prior). Luckily the shade fell during the afternoon when no one was outside in the area because it busted our $9,000.00 granite top! (Can't imagine someone sitting below it, they would have been killed!! ...thank gosh for video cameras now a days) Anyway, since Riverside Tent and Awning failed to rehang the shade, we called Affordable Awnings Company..I'm sure glad I did!!! Wow, Zach came right out and showed us why it fell and assured us HIS shades are manufactured and installed way different. He explained, in detail how he was going to fix the problem. The shade is now up, and better than ever!! Can't wait for them to make another shade for our courtyard! Zach and his installation crew were so patient and professional. This is an addition to my review of a couple of days ago. I failed to mention an important additional awning with our first order from Affordable Awning! We have an 9' drop-down awning over our family room custom-made sliding glass door. This awning has been used daily for close to 20 years. It still looks great, operates beautifully and gives us the privacy we need. We have had nothing but compliments on all of our awnings from Affordable Awning. Yesterday, less than 24 hours after installation, we had 2 neighbors comment on how nice our new retractable unit is and how great it is in combatting the sun's heat on the windows it covers. I asked for them to wait one minute for me to find the code and he couldn't even wait. He yelled at me and hung up the phone. How can I possibly give a company less than 1 star. Welp, tune in guys. We had our estimate taken in May 2021, great service, great reviews and we were allowed time to pick a style and fabric etc. We scheduled a time for installation sometime the next month and thought we were set. Wrong! I received a call a month later, the style of fabric was out of stock and that I had to wait. Fair. Then 2-3 months go by, no call, no follow-up, nothing. I reached out to check in on the status, and no response. 12 calls later (honestly I lost count, this is an estimate), alternating between my sister and I, no response. Until one day, sometime in October - we receive a call asking who we were and that there was no information available on us and that we had ever done business (mind you, I paid my deposit of 50% of the final cost in May 2021, which was literally cashed the next day). I provided the info and coordinated a follow-up for installation. Another 1.5 months go by, we're now in December, I follow up again wondering what is going on right? Welp, Brian informed me that the frame that they had 'supposedly constructed' was run over by their facility truck and that it was destroyed. They would 'expedite' the construction and have it ready to install by the holidays (December 2021). I call a few more times to schedule, no response. New year rolls around, still nothing. I'm fed up at this point, maybe the price of metal went up, supply chain problems? Not sure, but no valid response was provided to me whatsoever, I literally called over 20 times in the span of about 10 months. Then I call last week, coming up on the one year anniversary of the deposit, and instead called their corporate #. I receive a call immediately, from Brian. He asks for my # because it seems I'm not in the system? I informed him of the promise he and Affordable Awnings made recently. He told me it's been about a month since we last talked, and I informed him that it had actually been 3.5 months since the holidays (Christmas). I requested a refund, at least they managed to send the deposit check in a timely fashion. So sorry for the rant, I've literally never dealt with any company, let alone contractor, quite like this one. Sure the reviews look nice, but this was honestly the worst experience I've ever had with anything. It makes me laugh just thinking about. Anyway, stay on top of these guys - cause if I had forgotten about it (which I did a few times throughout the last year) - I would've lost my deposit. read more

Buyers Beware of the Pricing Maybe a good business. I don't know. Never got past, the quoting tasks. Tanya advised $1000 for recovering my Awning. Never advise on material being used, neither one advised. However, Zac quoted $1,400 for recovering, not installation. Never check with Tanya, he thought his price would fly, wrong! This company does not communicate with each other. Considering the price difference they lost my business. My conclusion, buyers beware and have a sense of what the marketplace will charge. We ordered a sun shade sail from them. Our 3-4 week estimated project ended up taking 7 weeks and that required SIGNIFICANT follow up (nagging) on our part to get them to show up and finish the job. They repeatedly made appointments to come out and would not show up or call. We were re-doing our backyard and their repeated delays held up the rest of our project by two months because the company who did our hardscaping is booked and can't come back to finish for another 8 weeks! Not cool. While the quality of materials and installation was good, they basically just slapped it up giving no thought to aesthetics. It just doesn't look good. The two guys that came to install were very nice and professional. They were in and out in a couple hours. I have a large retractable awning - 13' x 23'. I wanted to have an awning that would protect from sun & rain. Unfortunately, they don't recommend leaving the awning out in the rain, so I'm back to umbrellas.
