Baldo has done a few jobs for my home. All pristine work. First job was a major backup in my downstairs shower. He was very knowledgeable and explained everything in detail. He was able to do a quick fix and later came back to do the repipping. It's been well over a year and I've have no issues. The most recent job he did for my home was my upstairs toilets. Both upstairs toilets were badly leeking from the base/pedestals. I shot Baldo a text and he responded right away. It was late in the evening so we decided for him to come in the morning. I had to work the next day but my fiance was there to work with Baldo. Again, the work was done timely, properly and efficient. I read some of the comments below and what people fail to realize is that this is not a commercial company. This is a handyman service, not Roter Rooter. Was impressed with "respond within an hour". But that response was to ask for address and phone number and a promise of an estimate. A day passed. What's next? Should I wait? Are you going to take up the job? Or should I ask others? Update: Baldo replied soon. And I'm glad he did. The water damage to my bathroom was worse than expected. Baldo explained everything to me and showed me how bad it was. He adjusted his schedule to make sure that everything would be just fine after that. He is a classic example of the saying, good things come to those who wait. Final update: (Sept 11, 2017) I paid in full with a promise by Ricardo that he will put in the floorboards in the coming week. It has been more than 6 weeks and I am still waiting. We called on Mother's Day for an over the range microwave installation. Because our delivery and installer from Home Depot was unable to install it upon delivery, we called Affordable Handyman in the hopes he would be able to come install it immediately. Baldo saved our butts on multiple occasions. I left a previous 5-star review but I can't seem to locate it anymore so I'll try to also re-cap the previous work he's done for us. First time we called Baldo, our water heater pipe burst, threatening to drown everything we had stored in the garage... around 11pm in the evening. We have a trusted plumber whom we call when we have plumbing issues but this was obviously way after hours so we frantically called around for someone who would assist us with the emergency. Left dozens of messages with several companies and handymen; Baldo was the only who who responded and was willing to come to us so late in the evening. Replaced the pipe, practically by candlelight, and did an immaculate job and charged fairly for it. Baldo also installed a pretty complicated water hookup, to our refrigerator, for us. And we were very happy with it. Fast forward to his most recent job. Our landscapers were doing work in our yard and accidentally hammered a nail into our water main. We had a geyser drenching our yard. It happened in the early evening. They attempted to fix it--to no avail--and by the time they threw in the towel, we were without water at 11pm again (seems to be our witching hour). We absolutely could not go without water so we called Baldo. He came, and replaced the section of the pipe with almost seamless connections, and left it in a much better state than before the landscapers broke it. And he charged fairly again. He's never let us down and is our go-to guy, for sure. Side note: I'm looking at some of the negative reviews left for Baldo's business and I think what's key is to bear in mind that when you call a handyman, after normal business hours, for emergency fix-its--and he shows up immediately to try to help you resolve your problem--you need to be reasonable and expect a little bit of an upcharge. Otherwise, you're typically going to have to wait at least 24 hours or, at least, until the following morning. Affordable Handyman was quick to respond and squeeze me in for an appointment. My bathtub would not turn off and I had to shut off my water to my house in order to turn off the water. He was great and explained to me what was wrong and fixed it in a timely manner. He got the parts and fixed it. As for the price, it cost $280. I am not sure if that is considered reasonable or not but I do like that he was quick to respond and was professional. IF there is a next time, I'll fix it on my own. We needed help installing a water filter under the kitchen sink and contacted Baldo via Yelp. He quickly came over and gave us an estimate, but commented that all the parts under the sink were due for replacement. We knew this was not a up-sale because another plumber and ourselves have recognized the problem but didn't want to spend so much money in one go. Eventually we decided to just get everything fixed. He didn't charge us for coming out to look at the kitchen sink and not doing the original request. Baldo gave us a new estimate and said he would come back the next day, which was Labor Day! He told us what parts to buy (we needed a new faucet, too), and offered to buy them for us if we wanted to. We ended up buying most of the big stuff, and he supplied the pipes and smaller parts. Baldo came over the next day on time and promptly got to work. He explained what he was doing and was happy to add or move things around after he installed them. We felt safe enough to leave him at home alone and went out for brunch. We came back a bit late but he was patiently waiting with no problems. Called these guys after the water flow from the kitchen refrigerator was severely reduced and the appliance guy told me I had to change the water line. Beto was the only guy to answer my call after calling four different companies. He came out that evening and took a look at the situation and gave me a great price to come back the next morning and run a new water line. Very unprofessional. Did not provide a written estimate. Duped my wife into agreeing to pay $270 without fixing the problem. The shower knob was not working. He looked into it, and then said it would cost $1000 to fix the problem. My wife said that was too expensive, and said she could not pay that much. He then said that the water would run if it was not fixed, because apparently he had already opened it up. He then said it would cost $270 to just "cap" it and not fix the problem. Essentially my wife got cornered into agreeing to pay $270 just to be able to have the water mains turned on and not have the water gushing out in the shower all the time! I was out at the time, and came home just as he was finishing his capping. I told him it was very unreasonable to have to pay $270 just to revert back without fixing the problem. I also told hm it was very unprofessional of him to proceed with a job without getting a written estimate. I agreed to pay him $100 for what he did, even though he said the estimate was free and nothing was fixed. I did give him a check for $100 for this job. He has also threatened me by saying he will get a lien on my house through the city of Fremont. I am going to report this incident to the California State Contractor License Board. Our 12-year-old water heater started leaking, and after contacting several plumbers (some who did not show up), we found Affordable Handyman on yelp. We contacted Baldo and explained the problem. He was currently working on a job, but since we had an emergency, he postponed work at that job and came to our rescue. Due to the age of the water heater and the work that was needed to bring it up-to-code, we decided to replace our old water heater with a new one. These guys will milk you if you have an emergency or water leak. They don't give you the quote but they will cancel all other appointments so that you get to use them and they will charge very high. The water heater costs 600 but they charged 1000 besides the heater cost. They didn't even bother to check if there is anything wrong with the heater or not. They just want you to install a new heater. Their charges are not reasonable and they call themselves affordable. After reading previous reviews, they look like like don't show up if they have to provide quotes, which I can understand. read more

I told him on the phone about the Yelp ad and he said he would honor it and that it would cost less with the Yelp ad. So he gets here and he takes a look at what the problem is and tells me that the Yelp discount isn't applicable unless it's over 400-500 dollars, when on the phone he said it applied to any consultation. We are pleased with the outdoor plumbing work that Baldo of Affordable Handyman service did for us. He moved a front yard faucet a few feet because we are getting ready to redo our driveway and the faucet was too close. The finished project looks very nice with the faucet waist high and thus easier to reach without bending down. He mounted it to the fence and used copper so it looks quite elegant. A few days after he left, he had to come back because a small leak revealed itself. But he came over quickly, fixed it and didn't charge us any more (of course). He did a great job fixing one toilet replacing the guts in the toilet tank in one bathroom and fixed the sink in the other bathroom replacing the stopper & the parts under the sink. He also gave me "Yelp" discount. I do have say that I thought the price of $380 (which included parts & he went to the store for the parts) was a bit high but he was here for about 2+ hrs. I had these 2 guys come to my house recently to install a water heater. First of all, their price was very reasonable. We looked around to find alternatives, but couldn't beat them. When they were installing the water heater, they did not look at the instructions even once and did not have to re-do any of their work. Awesome people from a family owned business! Today out of the blue our water heater was leaking water from the bottom and droplets of water cane from the top of the pipes. I called a few places prior to calling here and the other companies actually charge for an estimate whereas affordable handyman does a free estimate and answer all the questions you have along with inspecting the problems. So I called and spoke to baldo and he had Julio and Rafael come by in less then 25 minutes. They dropped their project which they were working on and came over to take a look at the problem. After figuring out what we needed they gave us a very reasonable price and started working on the water heater installation and repair. They left and picked up things at the store which only took them an hour or less to pick it all up and getting started. The process took a long time which we started at around 8ish in the morning and ended around 4ish because they had to fix so many problems we had which weren't really up to code and they were able to bring it to that level. Their fun and amazing people as well as being family oriented and makes you feel comfortable enough to joke around. They didn't mind the many people of whom were coming in and out of the house and we very much appreciated their kindness, discounts, time, care, and efficiency of the newly replaced water heater, and moving hinges for us. Most likely if you were to need help one of the three men will come right away and help you especially if it's an emergency! Just tell them what's going on and they'll get to your right away. Baldo is great! Had a water leak coming from two pipes and as a new home owner I was freaking out, naturally. I called Baldo on a Sunday afternoon and he came to my rescue within the hour... and brought his cousin (in law?) with him too! Fixed my water pipes and replaced them with new ones quickly, and then came back the next day to put in a water pressure reducer since my water pressure was at 80psi (my tenant mentioned to me once that her shower pressure is a little too strong).
