I looked on yelp and elsewhere for shops that were open on a Saturday afternoon. The first business I called... waited 45 minutes and got no response. So the the second business (The Plumbing Company) I waited only 10 minutes, and was literally on the phone booking with another company when TPC returned my call. I felt bad about that, but since the other company already booked, I called Judy back and she was very understanding about being the "backup". Judy also told me the tip to prevent "water" from continuing to flow into the shower - open the clean out valve to relieve pressure). The other company was punctual, courteous and friendly but took quite a while to get the job done and charged quite a lot. The other company also suggested a very expensive service... because the problem is going to come back (indeed, this was our third time in 5 years) Guess who I am hoping will be able to do that service ... To respond to Phil incorrect update. Here is the actual facts. The remediation company did not discover the leak until 230 in the afternoon once they pulled the room apart. We called this company first because of their ratings on Yelp and were told they could be there within the hour. Phil arrived 5:15pm. Since we thought it was going to be a simple repair why would we call someone else. When he arrived he made a big story on how hard the work would be and that this was the cost. We were up against a wall at that point and he Knew it. When it took him less than an hour to do the actual work, we realized he took advantage of our situation. We obviously should have gone with our gut when he gave us the quote but we have kids and hardwood floors sitting above the leak. To wait another would mean to turn off water to the house. The lie and fabrication he just told is making me revise my rating back to the original claim. DONT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Even with the discount, it was $700 to fix 5 inch of pipe that was completely open and exposed. The fix should have cost maybe $400 because it was after hours. We verified with remediation company and separate contractor the actual labor needed after the fact. My bad for having to deal with this dishonest company during a emergency. Just wanted to give an update. After I called and expressed my frustration with being ridiculously overcharged, they gave us a discount. Not as much as we hoped for but I will take it. Original review This company is outrageously priced. $519/hr. We used yelp review to select the company because we had active leak and didn't have time to shop around. Simply put we got screwed. It's sad that they took advantage like that. I doubt we'll ever use them again and definitely won't recommend it to anyone. We paid over $1000 for less than 2 hours of work (that's including him looking at it, explaining it to us, going to get a part, and fixing it). We already had walls open so he knew he had us. Super Helpful. I called The Plumbing company at 7:00 in the evening because I heard a sound coming from my toilet. Ugh they were clogged and plunging them didn't help. I spoke to a very helpful woman that was ready to send some one out. She did tell me that there would be an after hours charge but would be happy to send someone if need be. I opted to wait till to morning as she said she could send someone first thing. In looking at my schedule I found that I couldn't be available till noon. We had Phil round to plumb in our new kitchen sink and waste disposal, and he did a great job. I'm not confident with drains (all that solvent weld stuff), and I had no idea what fittings to use to get from the sink, dishwasher and disposal to the pipe in the wall. Phil just took care of it, coming at a time that was convenient to us, and sorted it out quickly and easily. First big thumbs-up. Then a drain blocked two weeks later. Original 60-year-old drains, so nothing related to the sink plumbing work. A 50' auger from Home Depot didn't touch it, so I knew something was really wrong somewhere that wasn't accessible. Phil came round, took pictures of the (interestingly creative) plumbing under the house, and figured out where the blockage was - in a pipe that was too small for current codes and not accessible for clearing. Next day, he and his colleague ripped out the main 4" pipe and all the blocked pipes, put back fatter pipes that won't block again, and took photos of the 60-year crud in the pipes that caused the problem. It wasn't cheap, but considering how much effort it was, the price was more than reasonable. Best thing: Phil again just took care of it again, no mucking about. What a night...I came down to the kitchen after bathing the kids and found a puddle of water on the kitchen floor and a crack in the ceiling. I went on yelp and called The Plumbing Company. They certainly deserve their five stars. Chris gave me an estimated time, called when he was on his way and was excellent. He did a very thorough inspection, found our problem, solved our problem. The toilet got backed up last night and this morning at 8 am I called and talked with Judy, the receptionist. Words can't express gratitude ... My garbage disposal stopped working and I sent a quote and got a voice message telling me they can help me over the phone and may save me the money . I called back and Judy picked up the phone . She is really helpful I ! I told her I did reset the garbage disposal and heard some humming noises . She told me that means the disposal was okay and it was just jammed . All I needed to do was just to use the Allen wrench to turn the screw at the bottom of the disposal to unjam. Stay Away, not honest, and ripping off! I called The Plumbing company last Thursday when my water heater broke and I could not turn on the pilot. A welcoming rep took the call, and I asked about their service. She said they can have a service man coming to our house. The first red flag, not giving diagnostic fee info on the phone: I asked the rep whether there is any diagnostic fee, she said there is NO fee, and a quote will be provided when the service man arrives. The service man arrived later in the day, and indeed called in advance of coming. After minutes of arrival, he said there is $179 diagnostic fee! I said, the call rep did not talk about this, he said, well, there is a fee if we are coming! I said, you could be transparent, etc. Nevertheless, we negotiated the diagnostic fee down to $80. The Next red flag: quoting a high repair bill pattern: He tried to turn the pilot, it failed. He said, with a high probability, is thermocouple. And, the cost to replace it is $409 (labor). I said, this is too high, how much is the parts, he said this is not about parts, it's the labor that is expensive. And, if I replaced the thermocouple, and it's not it, and it's your gas valve, the replacement charge for this is $510 + parts. I declined any repair, and he left with $80 of diagnostic fee! Then, I went to the internet, and did a bit of research on Thermocouple, and noticed that he even did not do a good diagnostic job, others in the videos make certain that this is the faulty part by actually measuring the voltage, etc. After a bit of research, I found that is a pattern in this industry to just come to service call, collect diagnostic fee, provide high quotes, customer declines, and they move to the next diagnostic job! A complete rip-off. Another issue is that I found later that my water heater has been under warranty. And, finally, I had a service man contracted with the manufacturer to replace the parts, and fix the issue for only $225 (labor + free parts from the manufacturer). And, I found this issue indeed by a 3rd service man from another company that I called on the same day, and he came to our house, he pointed this out, and asked me to call the manufacturer. He indeed did not charge me at all! and he said I better go the manufacturer route. This new service man indeed gave me hope that there are still good guys in the market, while the service man from the Pluming Company did not let me know about this, at all, even though charged me $80 diagnostic fee, as well. So, I had a really bad experience with this company, and the method they want to make money out of customers! Not being transparent, quoting high to just collect the diagnostic fees quickly, no proper diagnostic, and not explaining the options including any warranty coverage, etc. Stay away, if you can! read more

I am writing this Yelp review because I want people to know what an amazing experience I had with this company. My water heater went out over the weekend. Judy picked up my call Friday 9:45pm, not able to send someone out but did provide tip to release main sewer line pressure so the waste water is not backup inside the house. Phil came to unclog my sewer line on Sat, the quote is more than double the cost I paid to a different plumber last time, since I just need to get it done I accepted the high cost. For total of 30 mins of work to pay that price is way too much. I should be patient and find another plumber. However, Judy is great and she also called back to make sure that the job was done right. The good: We called the plumbing company to get an estimate for a bathroom/garage remodel. Someone was scheduled to come out the same day. The bad: The technician did not arrive at the scheduled time. When we called 30 minutes past the agreed-upon time, we were informed that they were "on their way." He ended up showing up an hour late. Not too atypical for the industry, so this was certainly not a deal-breaker. The worst: The technician was very friendly and helpful while discussing the job. However, despite multiple phone calls over the ensuing 2 weeks, we have been unable to obtain a bid. The receptionist has told us multiple times she will find the bid and "get back to us" with no response. If they are too busy to take the job I can understand that; however, the lack of communication is very unprofessional. read more

The valve did not arrive due to a UPS screw up, so the Plumbing Company put us on the schedule for the next day with no hassle and priority. Highly recommended!! It's a Friday late afternoon and our toilet was clogged beyond our capabilities to clear it via plunger. I called and Judy was so nice and immediately found one of their plumbers that was finishing another job in the area. She scheduled him, and right away I started receiving texts with updates on his arrival as well as a picture introducing our plumber to us prior to arrival. Within a few minutes, Phil called us saying that he was 10-15 minutes away and arrived well before the 10 minute mark. Phil was courteous, he covered his shoes with shoe covers before coming in. He assessed the issue and gave us a flat price for snaking the clog. He proceeded working on the clog and was successful within a few minutes. He cleaned up and carefully took the auger back to his vehicle and returned for payment...He easily processed our credit card and was on his way. This was probably the most easy, stress free, well worth the totally fair price, plumbing experience I have had...even though we have another amazing plumber we usually turn to, but was already fully booked today, led us to calling The Plumbing Company...Soon to be Miracle Plumbing. I figured since he was already there I might as well pay him to switch out my kitchen sink. He said he had no problem helping because he had a little extra time and he would switch it out for a small additional fee. I will definitely use them in the future. We have used The Plumbing Company for general plumbing issues as well as a full master bath remodel. We are so happy that we have found a company that we trust. I first found The Plumbing Company after searching Yelp when we had a backed up drain in the garage. Only about two hours later, Chris came out to fix it. Chris is really good about explaining the problem and answering questions. He also offered advice so that the problem doesn't happen again. While Chris was there fixing our drain, I mentioned that we had a bathroom that was in need of a remodel and he informed me that their company does that also and they could send over a quote if I'd like. The quote was very fair and we decided to move forward with them on the remodel. It turned out beautifully! It was a pleasure having Chris and Phil at our house for those few weeks. They were so friendly, patient, and personable. It was a huge bonus that they were also friendly to our dogs which really helps when they were spending so much time here. We felt more than comfortable leaving them the keys to our house when we had to leave for a weekend so they could continue working. They dealt with all subcontractors (who also were great) so that we only had to work with them on payments and scheduling. Judy in the office was always pleasant and easy to talk to if I had any questions. Chris had told me that they could also do design but I had a floor plan and materials already selected. They offered great advice on my existing plans and had no trouble getting the materials from my chosen vendors but they were always ready with recommendations. We desperately needed a urinal fixed at our dealership and these guys took care of it immediately. What a TERRIFIC EXPERIENCE! At Christmas we were expecting 20 people in our home all day -- and, of course, our plumbing backed up just before the event. We had previously used another plumber and we called them and were very disappointed by their failure to fix the problem. We suffered with very limited plumbing through Christmas, and then right after New Year's Day we sought to have the situation corrected -- which the original (now, prior) plumbing company failed to solve on 3 different efforts. So, in desperation and in reliance on reviews in Yelp, we reached out to The Plumbing Company. What a DIFFERENCE -- and what a successful result. On the Saturday after New Year's we finally contacted The Plumbing Company and spoke with Judy and then Phil -- a "supervisor". Phil was very knowledgeable and came to our home within THIRTY MINUTES of our telephone conversation. He ended up being here for almost two hours -- snaking from within the backed up shower out to the main, and then again from the main back into the house. He had to use three different machines as the problem continued to be seeming intractable. Finally the situation was resolved. The price ("flat-pricing") Phil quoted was, to us, very reasonable -- about $272, higher than the prior plumber but well worth it. Phil was professional, personable and --most important of all -- knew what he was doing and wasn't going to "give up" until he solved our problem, which he did. In the future (plumbing problems in old houses seem to never end) TPC (and Phil) will be our go-to plumber -- for us and our many adult children who live in the area. In fact, we have arranged with Phil to come out again to do some additional work re-seating our fancy Toto "automatic" toilet, and we actually look forward to his return with the additional people necessary to do this next project. He is also taking over responsibility for regular maintenance of our "high-end" water heater and radiant heating system/ Don't bother calling anyone else -- TPC was terrific. And within 30 minutes after Phil left us, Judy (from the office) called to make sure everything was accomplished as promised, which it was. She was also very gracious, pleasant and reassuring. USE these folks -- based on this experience I am sure that you will be pleased with the responsiveness, the quality of the work (everything was left clean and dry!), and the price. Michael read more
