DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! By far the worst moving…read moreexperience of my life. This company was subcontracted by American van lines to fulfil our contract with AVL. To make a very long story short, we were verbally promised delivery within 7-10 days, latest was July 10th, of the pick up date. That did not happen. They even blew past the 20 day delivery window in the contract. Our delivery did not show up until July 27th. All the while we were receiving harassing texts demanding the rest of the payment or else they would turn around. And when the truck did finally arrive, only the driver was present to unload it. We paid for loading and unloading services and were basically left on own with the driver to unload. I have a physical disability and was unable to help, so my partner bore the burden of five grueling hours of unloading a 26 foot moving truck with the driver. We contacted the company after an hour or two passes and still no other movers arrived and were told that, in fact, they WERE there! They even argued with us saying that the movers confirmed they would be there in 45 minutes, 2 hours ago. And yet. No movers. Also the driver used a slur in front of my partner and I about a group of people that I belong to. Absolutely disgusting.

Because we had such a good experience when we made another move a few years later we reached out to them again. Due to unforeseen circumstances, our move out date and packing dates had to be changed multiple times, but Iliya worked with us patiently to help find us a crew within just a few days that was able to move us out efficiently and conveniently. Carlos and his moving crew were superb and worked quickly, with a positive attitude, and were willing to accommodate a lot of our requests. If we move again in the future we would definitely be reaching out to Prodigy again.

His team did a fantastic job as well. I have a special shout-out for Lalo. This guy was amazing and made my overall moving experience over the top. He made sure my wife and I were 150% satisfied. I cannot in good coincidence recommend this company. Yes, all our items got from A to B but that isn't all a move is about. When my wife called management the next day to air our grievances she was told that they had no record of her calling during the move. Well yes we were busy moving and keeping our eye on the staff; they really expected us to call every time something went wrong all while these 4 guys had a truck full of our belongings. Sorry I do not need the further stress of confronting these guys with the option of 'switching out' a crew undoubtedly be daunting and taking way more time and still leaving me unsatisfied.The move took 10+ hours, which they seem to think is normal for a 2-bedroom apartment and 4 movers. Interestingly enough a year before we had 2 movers and 2 one bedroom apartments in different locations and it took half the time (and cost per hour). Brian,the foreman, arrived smelling of alcohol. He was not drunk as management seemed to think my wife had said. If he was drunk I would've called the police and not let him start lifting our items. Arriving smelling of alcohol went to his unprofessionalism and kept me on watch for the rest ofthe move. My main issue is that they arrived with a truck that already had items in it! There was a refrigerator and large projection television already in there. Halfway through we're told they might need to make a second trip cause we have too much stuff. They gave us the option of renting a second truck on our dime but they'd fill and unload it or they can make the second trip. I waited to see just how much they'd fit in before I made the final decision. Eventually, I decided on the second trip. Granted it was from Culver City to the Valley which at 5pm on a Sunday is not ideal but then again neither is having to find an open truck rental company and find the time to get it and return it all while this crew lay idle. All that was left in our apartment was our refrigerator and about 20 comic book boxes (which are not large boxes if anyone is familiar). After management 'investigated' our complaints in regards to this the foreman claimed it was not only a refrigerator but 80-100 boxes and more furniture left ion the apartment. Well that was a lie and though no one expects pure honesty from someone whose job is on the line it just left a bitter taste in my mouth for this whole company. There were 3 bookcases left in our office/2nd bedroom but they weren't part of the move and we told the crew that andthe foreman even marked them with tape so his crew wouldn't take them. We can prove this since the tape is clearly visible in the craigslist posting my wife put up of those items the very same day. Also of note: My wife caught our foreman urinating in our new apartment garage. The investigation included asking the other crew members if they saw him do this and they all said, "no." Well who announces they're going to do this?!She caught him by accident as she exited the stairs. They claim to disassemble and reassemble furniture. They only reassembled some pieces in our new apartment and left the rest with missing screws etc. They charge to shrink wrap large pieces to prevent damage and that's fine but our refrigerator was dented and our microwave was missing a leg when it arrived. When the move is done you sign a release which "waives your rights." Be weary! There is a comment section on this form and this is where my wife was told she should've listed the urination incident etc. Of course the person asking you to sign is the foreman, yes the same guy she saw urinating. She didn't feel comfortable writing this and listing every issue about him in front of him but they won't leave without you signing the form. After several back and forth calls my wife was offered $50 for the inconvenience off of a $1,400 move. I'd say $50 barely covers the urinating in the garage incident but not the truck issue. What kind of moving company doesn't show up with an empty truck? So they tacked on another $50... woohoo $100 is the best they could or would ever do. Then they send a settlement letter to waive all further action and the letter isn't even addressed to her, it's to another customer who is also being compensated for damages. I wonder just how many people had to settle for something monetarily and then never got the opportunity to let the public know of how this company operates because 'in good faith' you waive your rights if you accept payment.I'm sure 6 times out of ten they're not bad but do you really want to be the oneout of four people that gets screwed?! I hate moving. HAAAAAAATE it. And yet it had to be done; we were running out of space, the landlord was behaving more and more erratically and the neighborhood was getting a sketchy enough that the pain of moving was outweighed by the crappiness of staying. Melrose Moving took the worry out of the actual physical moving. They were on time, fast, efficient and uncomplaining, despite our 95 or so cubic feet of books (not even kidding) and other heavy and ridiculous things that had to be moved down the stairs . With tip, the move came out to less than our previous move 5 years ago cost without tip, which I suppose is not especially surprising, considering we went with the scammiest of the scammy last time. We were happy to pay for such a professionally done move. They accept cash or credit cards - we paid half with cashier's check and half on credit card. Double check when you make the reservation, but there is a 5% transactional fee for CC. One caveat - they may or may not have trampled a small area of flower-bed in our old place. I couldn't tell (and it was not professionally landscaped to begin with) but the squirrelly landlord claims he saw it happen. If there's an easy route from your door to the truck, scope that out and give them directions. Even with that, I will definitely recommend them to my friends, because god forbid I have to move again. read more

This a company that stand behind their business after my review... the owner he wasn't having it so they reach out to resolve the matter. Now that a man word is he's brand. The Company refused to just watch what happen to me... Instead they chose to do something about the movers ! Thank you for being that company to standing by your word ...to make sure the Movers respected your client move. They heard my voice and called... they offer an apology to me and family that was deehurt. They assured me this is not our company Mission or Goals. You've earn your company name keep being Affordable and Caring ... This company is awesome I just used their services again I have three wonderful men that got the job done. My boyfriend and I were moving from Los Angeles to Bay Area, a long distance move that not every local moving company would want to deal with. Melrose Moving told us they would be able to do it with no problem. Since we needed to move in a very short notice, we asked them to pack everything,move and unpack. They did it all and they did it well. They worked with us to come up with the schedule that works best for us. They packed up everything very neatly and efficiently. They labelled all the boxes. They even dealt with my neighbor who wanted to make sure elevators are covered during the move. They said "No problem, we'll cover them right now!" In the new place we had a light carpet and we were worried it would get dirty from moving the furniture, but they covered it all up and it was left clean. In the new place, they listened to our instructions about where to put every item. They assembled all the furniture carefully and pretty fast. Previously, I had some bad experience with movers and was very hesitant about professional movers, but experience with Melrose Moving was great. I am so extremely grateful that this company was able to get me moved on a Friday last second. Not only were they professional and thorough from the first phone call setting up the appointment - they sent the greatest men to help me and my girlfriend move. Russell, Calvin, and Serge showed up and I could not have asked for more hard-working, trustworthy and good people. After multiple hours working one of the guys felt ill and immediately they had a replacement on site to assist us. Ruslan was the replacement and same as the previous, I could not have asked for a better guy to help. We did not have to watch them or worry about our belongings or whether they were careful to not damage walls--they were absolutely pleasant and excellent. Our family is going through a very stressful remodeling and a lot of turbulence. But you know what was not stressful? Our easy and fast move done by Johnny and his crew of Los Angeles Movers. Part of our belongings ended up in storage since our temporary apartment is smaller than the one we are moving out of, but most of the stuff we relocated to the new place. The movers wrapped everything in blankets and shrink wrap. I was worried about our TV, but Johnny assured me that he will personally wrap it and that they never had a problem with broken TV's before. And he was right, the TV arrived safely. They disassembled our bed and reassembled and set it up at the new place. We still have some unpacking to do, but for the most part we are pretty settled in, all the furniture is in place, the bed is set up and the TV is on. What more can you ask for on a moving day? Yesterday I had four guys from Melrose Moving accomplish something amazing for me! The main guy, Dmitry and his crew worked their butts off to pack both my office and my two bedroom apts. so that I can move into my new house (which I found out last minute was available to move into before Thanksgiving). Because of their fast help, I was able to save on one month's rent. I had booked them after Thanksgiving because someone recommended them to me, but when my new manager called and said, hey you can just move in tomorrow if you want, I desperately called Melrose Moving to change my date. They were actually all booked, but said they would try to work something out, and they did! I explained to the movers that I'm in a huge hurry and need both locations done in one day. They worked for 14 hours straight! They were careful, fast, and never complained, actually they were in a pretty good mood. I am forever grateful.! read more

We have had some bad experiences with moving companies in the past. Not this year! This move, we had the good fortune of hiring the "Affordable Los Angeles Movers." They did an incredible job. We had a very large one bedroom that we needed moved into a two bedroom about 12 miles away. No elevator, TONS of heavy furniture. Not only did Victor, Nick, and Mais show up early... They finished early too! Nick, Victor, and Mais' were three of the most hardworking guys I'd ever met, and their work ethic was rivaled only by their attitudes. They never complained or even seems annoyed that the job was dragging on under hot weather and rough terrain. They were courteous, respectful, and above all, very professional. I was very pleased with Melrose Moving. The guys were right on time, very courteous and ready to dig in. I felt bad for not having an elevator though, but they were troopers. They even moved some furniture to a storage facility for me the same day. They were very careful in moving my boxes and furniture while working very fast and efficient. Moving is stressful no matter what, but with these guys I felt like the pressure was literally off my shoulders. I've had terrible movers before and I'm so glad I found these guys this time around. I would totally recommend this crew. Gary, Roman and Ivan (?) were great - super friendly, willing to do whatever we needed and very professional. When I explained I was on a budget and needed only the heavy pieces moved (I could and did the superficial stuff myself, that was my preference), I didn't get a bunch of eye rolling and attitude - they just adjusted and kept on working which I really appreciated. I've moved 10 times in 12 years and this was generally one of the best moves of the bunch. Only pulling one star off the total because I think this is technically a subcontractor - I called (MWAT) and this appears to be a different company? I don't know anyone that likes moving. After years of moving from apartment to apartment myself with the help of friends I decided to bite the bullet and hire someone. I was over those college days of moving that continued on even after those years. THANK GOODNESS I found the best company. My new place was quite a trek with an abnormal amount of stairs and many awkward turns, it's just a movers nightmare. They handled the move so flawlessly and made everything so easy. Just moved into the North Hollywood area, so would appreciate any pointers as to what's good around here. Sharing my new found wisdom too. I used Melrose Moving to move out of my parents house (Finally!!) to freedom. I was frightened by everyone telling me how moving companies charge up the wazoo and stay forever and you end up paying really, really high rates. I called about 10 places and read a bunch of stuff online to finally decide to use Melrose Moving. They were really good. I noticed that your company had a real great track record, so I decided that I should give you guys a try. I packaged everything myself. So that when the movers arrived, all they had to do was loaded up for me onto the truck. They did a really good job. They were very careful. And they used all the proper equipment. The truck was good enough to fit all of my belongings, which included my living room dining room and bedroom. I was very impressed with how quick they arrived into my new house. And I was also equally impressed with how they were able to unload everything rather quickly. Thank you guys for doing a fine job. Man, o man how much do I hate moving! All the packing, the dust, the headache, dealing with movers and finding a new place. Unpacking, ooohhhh... I especially have a huge problem with clothes. I live in a two bedroom, and one bedroom and both walk-in closets are filled with clothes. Moving my clothes is the biggest issue b/c when I pack them in boxes or anything, they get so wrinkled and then it takes me weeks to iron them. I spoke with Russell at Melrose Moving and he told me that they would bring wardrobe boxes to me free of charges for me to use during the move. They actually brought 10! This totally helped me bc I was able to move all my nicest stuff in one trip and just hung them right in my new closet! Saved me some headache from the move. Thanks Russell! read more

Hands down the best moving experience we've ever had, and we've had a lot! Very attentive and friendly staff to answer questions and set schedules. Packers were right on time, got the job done in about half the time expected, and even saved us money on packing materials by using stuff we already had. Everything was packed perfectly - not a single item was damaged, and we have lots of breakables. Movers were right on time as well, and moved us in record time. Again, no damages to anything! And every box and piece of furniture was put exactly where it was labeled to go. They started at 8, and by 5pm all our belongings (enough to fill a 4000sq ft house) were IN our new home that's an hour drive away. Our only regret was not having them unpack for us too! read more

Leaving the same review I did on citysearch about these guys. I don't usually leave reviews, but I am grateful to Melrose Moving for the great job they did with my complicated move, so I decided to make an exception. I needed to move my four-bedroom house in Glendale, CA to San Jose, CA, which is about a seven hour drive. I first got a flat rate quote from a few different moving companies, which all seemed outrageously high to me. Then I called Melrose Moving and spoke to Russell, who advised me to go with an hourly rate, which would save me money. I was apprehensive, but after doing some internet research about this company, booked them. Why can't all moving companies be like this one? Seriously I have dealt with some of the most unprofessional and unfriendly moving companies back in the day. I have used three, (one for moving to a new office building, and two for moving apartment) and I won't name names, but I was ripped off and not treated in a good fashion. I read a bunch of good reviews for Melrose Moving so I figured they would be better than companies I have used in the past, and they definitely were. They called me and gave me a free quote the same day I had e-mailed them, they didn't make me a pay a deposit, no double driving, and to my surprise, the movers were actually on time. read more

I was moving from Austin and packed up all my things myself and with the help of a few friends loaded up a Uhaul and drove to LA. Getting to my new place in Hollywood Hills, I realize that the street is too narrow to bring this gigantic truck up the narrow, hilly street. So, I figured there was no way my friends and I can complete the move by ourselves. A neighbor gave me the number to Melrose movers and said they just moved some pieces of furniture for him. I've moved several times in the past 5 years and this was the best experience by far! There are some very shady movers out there but I have to say this was an incredibly positive experience. From the first phone call, to the email follow-up and, in particular, on the day of the move Melrose moving exceeded expectations. The crew called ahead, showed up on time, was pleasant and professional and executed my move from my storage unit, to my old house and then on to my new house all within 4 hours 15 mins! I utilized Melrose Moving to move my office to another location 50 miles away. Slava and his colleague showed up on time, efficiently moved my furniture and boxes with great care (I emphasize great care), and then expeditiously went to my new location to unload. There was no waste of time and I was billed what I was told prior to the move. It was a stressful move for me but the guys keep me in good humor as we moved along. We noticed three plates, a bowl, and a ramekin had been broken. We also noticed damage to our son's play kitchen. It was still functional, but broken. We were going to let it slide because we understand that things happen, but after we've fully unpacked, there were multiple vases that were broken in one box which held value and I am pretty upset about this. So maybe just some advice going forward, be more strategic with the way that you pack things.

The reason I am giving them five now is because I just used a different local moving company to pack my apartment and load a truck I rented, and I was highly dissatisfied with the service. I won't name this business, but the work did not reflect the cost and I wouldn't recommend that business to anyone. Comparing it to my experience with Stear, I knew I had to sit down and write the review. In July of 2021 I hired two workers to pack my 1 bedroom apartment, load their own truck, unload the truck at my new apartment, AND they drove the truck over to the nearby Goodwill so I could drop off four pieces of large furniture that I was donating for no extra charge. It took a total of 6 hours (my new apartment was only a few streets from my old one), and cost $800 pre-tip. One of the guys definitely worked his ass off the entire time, but I saw the other guy on his phone many times and slowly packing items. My roommate said she saw him chilling downstairs over to the side, and when he saw her he pretended to be working. That was the reason I was going to knock them down a star. But again, comparing the amount of work they got done in the time they did, and at the price they did it, to that of the company I just used, I am locking in at five stars. On top of that, all items were wrapped well enough that nothing was broken in the move, nor was I worried about it. They also knew obvious things like "wrap glass in wrapping paper before packing" and "don't pack living plants in boxes". That is in stark contrast to my recent experience. Here's a breakdown so you can get an idea of the competition: Stear (2021): -hired to pack 1 bedroom apartment and move items to new apartment (0.3 miles away) -I had more items in this move -they drove to a second location so I could drop off some furniture to be donated -all boxes and wrapping materials included in rate -2 men -I hardly did any work -$800 total -6 hours total Company #2 (2022): -hired to pack 1 bedroom apartment and load truck I rented -I didn't have items to donate and I had less items in this move -my dad and I were helping by packing and organizing the entire time -charged per box, wrapping materials "included" but they didn't have wrapping paper for fragile items (they used mine from my last move) -3 men (plus my dad and me) -they only had to pack and load a truck, didn't have to drive it anywhere -$700 total (was going to give me a "discount" at $760, I was like no) -4 hours 50 minutes total

I also spoke directly with CSI and was told the claim was closed at your company's direction--not due to any lack of response from me. The floor damage was hidden by boxes your movers placed throughout the area. Once the boxes were removed, the scratches were visible and I notified you within two days. That is reasonable notice. The $0.60/lb valuation is irrelevant here. This is not about damaged household goods--it's about property damage caused by your employees. Scratching new granite flooring with dollies is negligence, and that liability rests with your company, not the customer. Very disappointing handling of a clear issue.
