Ordered new windows for my whole house. Some were odd dimensions. They came out beautiful. George and the other worker were professional, fast and trustworthy. It took them less than 2 days. I wish I had read the reviews before wasting my time with him. I have a shower door with two pieces of tempered glass that slid on rollers. One broke. I was told to call Dave as he "could take care of my problem". WRONG! After a week of going back and forth with slow messages, he finally says that he does not replace glass.....he only sells new complete shower door enclosures. That has to be the biggest pile of manure ever! Where does the glass for a new enclosure come from? Why.....the same place a replacement panel does! I have now worked on replacing this glass for three weeks. So far three companies do not want to replace...they want to sell a complete new enclosure. Screw it! I called this company and spoke with the man who owns it and I was telling him about some doors that I needed so I went in there today and he had this huge Rottweiler that was trying to jump over the counter and I had my seven year old granddaughter with me. whether I'm right or wrong about these animals I do take caution because there's so many things on the news about these dogs attacking people and their owners and such so I asked him is the dog going to be safely behind the counter because I was scared for my granddaughter and myself . So we got off to a bad start because he knew I didn't really care for his dog and then we were talking about pocket doors and I told him I needed two pocket doors that I wanted to replace and put some thing else there like a bifold door. I made the mistake of mentioning my closet door in my bedroom, so I guess he got completely confused because he couldn't deal with me saying the two pocket doors is all I wanted to talk about, but he was off on the closet door and the pocket doors and I said no I just want to talk about pocket doors . he was looking on the computer and I was getting a really bad vibe from him and I just want it out of there but I was polite enough to stay anyway next thing you know he stood up threw his pencil down on his desk and said I'm done with you he goes you can't keep up with this conversation. So I got up and I was walking out and I said you're really just upset because I don't love your dog and I said and I'm not the one confused I said you are I just wanted to talk about two pocket doors and he mumbled something to himself, and I just walked out the door. He is not personable he is not nice. He was in a bad mood and you don't have to like someone's animal, particularly if you fear it , so I would advise not to go in that place he's not a nice man at all. I am sharing my personal experience and I hope no one goes through this. The absolute worst company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I've put off posting my review for many months because I'm still annoyed that I have wasted so much time, and money to get the shower doors fixed and still it's not fixed. My wife went to the showroom and was helped by Dave (owner) and he placed the order for 2 frameless showers and told her that the installation will take a day. The delivery was promised 2-4 business days, in reality took over 2 weeks. A few days later his installer (David) showed up to install the shower doors. That was when we realized it was a wrong order. My wife called the owner and explained him that this is not what she ordered. Instead of listening to her and fixing the order he insulted her. Dave is a liar and doesn't deliver the correct order. We wanted to return the order but the store didn't have a return policy so we had no choice but to install the wrong shower door. The installer (David) took 2 - 3 weeks to install one shower door and damaged 4 - 6 glass tiles and the other shower door left it incomplete. We call and text no answer...!! So please do yourself a huge favor and stay away from this company. read more

Word of advice, beware before using this company. Don't expect a good finished quality product, and expect excuses for why things are the way they are. When I first contacted Dave, he came out to our house in Simi that we were looking to purchase and gave us a quote on replacing two windows and two doors. We signed a quote and gave him ample time to order product and set a date for install before our painters were coming in. He missed his starting date that he promised, and then came in to start work, yes, the same day that my painters were there, and things took a turn for the worse from there. After I had asked if his installer, which happened to be his son, needed direction, he told me it was not needed, yet his son showed up on our project not knowing what to do, and had to ask another sub to call me. I stopped by the house the next morning, only to find a mess, the door frame installed, but with nail holes everywhere, nails on the ground, sawdust everywhere and the nails in the frame were entirely random. It was clearly not what we discussed nor what I expected. When I contacted Dave, rather than him apologizing and seeing what could be done to insure I was happy with the work, he began to argue with me and complain about how my painters had plastic everywhere. No customer service, period. When a contractor's first thing to do is argue and complain, it's time to cut that relationship and move on. I asked him never to come back to my home again. When his son had finished the work, Dave called and said everything was cleaned up and for me to take a look at the house and let him know. We showed up the next morning only to find our master bathroom filled with sawdust scraps, left behind for someone else to clean up. There is no excuse to leave anyone's house like that. Meanwhile, I have a side garage door that was installed with scuff marks, it's dirty, and the excuse given to me, is "sometimes that happens when product gets shipped". This morning, I was told that I could use some product to clean it off. THAT IS NOT MY JOB DAVE, THAT'S WHY I PAID YOU TO DO THE WORK. I would expect if you received something damaged from a manufacturer, or when you loaded it on your truck, if it was damaged, to install a new door. Certainly not expect the customer to touch it up. Perhaps there was too much inconsistent communication, but personally, I think it's a clear reflection on the type of work this company provides, and it's safe to say, that I will never use them again, or refer them to anyone else. I've had many sub contractors working on my house over the last several weeks, and while there are always problems that arise, all of them, except for Affordable Windows and Doors, were willing to talk about resolving them, rather than complaining and arguing, and putting blame where it shouldn't be. read more

We hired a contractor to repair water damage that occurred in our home in Agoura Hills. We pulled city permits on all work done in our home including our Doors and windows which we decided to replace at the same time repairs on home were being done. Thankfully I found Dave who is the owner of Affordable Windows and Doors! After our original contractor (AWfUL) installed 10 windows, the Agoura city inspector came to our home and none of them passed inspection! Our contractor refused to come back and do the proper job of which involved pulling all our windows out that he installed and doing full proper installation! Dave Mendelson came out to our home and agreed to pull out and re-install everything! And our City inspector from Agoura Passed them All after Dave's company did the Proper job! Agoura Hills building and safety inspected everything and said, Dave did an excellent job ! I highly recommend speaking to Dave if you are in need of windows and doors etc! I wouldn't let these people touch my house. Terrible customer service. They don't return calls and didn't finish the job. It cost me more money to have someone come out to do it over. Bad Bad Bad! Confused? Not confused Dave. I hired you to fix a door at my elderly mom's house out in Ventura County where your technician tried to fix it and left it where she could not even close the door. You took her money and left her unable to be secure in her own home. You told us that tech was no longer working for you and you would come look at it and take care of us, only YOU never showed up. For many years I have done business with Dave at Affordable and he is truly the king when it comes to knowledge and experience in the field of door & windows sales. Recently, I needed a new front door for a rental property I own, and Dave took the time to discuss all the options and the recommended the right product that was best for my application. Though I originally wanted a steel clad door, Dave recommended a fiberglass entry door which turned out to be fantastic! The best part was the fiberglass door was actually cheaper than the steel door and will outlast it by many years. Dave always listens and provides recommendations that are in my best interest. In another application, I needed a custom pass through window design so that I could access my indoor kitchen from my outdoor grill station. This allows my wife and me to exchange items without having to go into the house (great during parties). I sat down with Dave and he helped me design a sliding window and roll up screen design that works fantastically! I get so many compliments from my guests, not to mention how much easier it makes entertaining. I typically do my own installation and I value Dave's advice, which is honed from his many years in the field. He gives me all the tips and tricks to do an expert installation and he makes recommendations for materials. I have previous experiences where other door and window guys gave me a good price just to try to bone me on installation. Not Dave. Whether you want him to install them or you want to do the work yourself, he gives you the same great price on name brand products. He has never steered me wrong and has always been at the other end of the phone to talk me through the eventual gotcha's that arise when retrofitting a new door or window into an old house. We ordered several stock, industry standard sized, book doors (book=no frame, drilled holes etc) interior doors directly from Dave at Affordable W&D, Affordable was to install the doors. Day of order/deposit: Dave advised that work (install date) would be in "one to two weeks closer to two weeks, I can get the doors in a couple of days". Two weeks passed.....nothing at all happened. No phone call from Dave or anyone else....nothing. We called and spoke directly to Dave His second install promise: "one to two (more) weeks closer to two weeks, I can get the doors in a couple of days" again heard nothing by the end of two weeks. No phone call from Dave or anyone else. Went to his place of business: His third install promise. He was emphatic that he could start work in "one to two (more) weeks closer to two weeks. I can get the doors in a couple of days". Again went to his place of business 9/22 . Dave set a install date for 9/25 around 10:00am. True to form, no one showed up,, no phone call from Dave or anyone else.....nothing. Called and talked to Dave that day. Instructed him to place the entire order on hold. Hung up and we went to his place of business and canceled the order. He openly admitted to us that he had not yet placed a order to his supplier for the doors but they "could be here in a couple of days" Order was cancelled at N/C to us. If he could get the doors from his supplier "in a couple of days" why did it take him 6 weeks to do what he said was a two day install????? Deplorable Customer Service by Dave...... The new windows he installed that were special order have cut my electric bill down so much with the low E glass. Both Dave and his son are easy to work with and did a very nice job on install. My husband and I needed a custom size storm door with a built in pet door (and it turns out those aren't easy to find!) but we started researching and found Dave quickly. He was super easy to work with and obtained our door and sent out his installers quickly. One of the installers was his son, and he was just amazing at his job. My door came in and never got inspected by the owner. His installer was not available for about 2 weeks. When the door did get installed, there was a hole in the door and some other finish issues. I filed a complaint with the installer at the time of installation, however the manufacturer refuses to do anything about it because of the delay in reporting. In my opinion, this is Dave's fault. Sometimes, manufacturers can be difficult to work with. We needed several precise and different delivery dates for a 17 window and slider reno job at our house, and though Milgard may make a superior product, precise is a foreign term for them. They would have lost all the business were it not for Dave, who went to bat for us again and again to compensate for their sloppiness and stupidity. They have no sense of how to handle customers, but Dave does! Also, we have an upper deck, delivery to which was impossible without using a Gradall forklift. I promise you, we know nothing about heavy machinery and don't want to know, ever, but Dave guided us through renting the beast and recruiting a person to hoist his products up in the air, and down to a safe landing.
