The disruptions are frequent and too many times have made my home server unreachable while traveling. Most of the time the service resumes, but on occasion I've had to have a neighbor or relative enter my home and reset the connection for me. Super effing inconvenient! Also, there is no roadmap for connections faster than 1 Gigabit, even while even more worthless competitors like Xfinity and AT&T offer 2.5 and even 5 Gigabit. And lastly, they increased their rates a few months ago. They offered a discount if you paid for a year in advance, but offered no way to do that online. It wasn't until I contacted customer service, that they gave me the details of how to do so: by writing a physical check and sending it to a physical address, no ACH or Credit Card options (which are available to those who pay monthly). Like, I'm boomer AF, so I still have a few checks laying around, but who else in 2025 still has a checkbook? When it works, I'm grateful, but internet service is binary. I just need it to work. Always. And it doesn't. End of story.

I stream, upload large video files for editing, and occasionally do some online gaming. Those are all situations where bad internet immediately ruins your day. Dropping a connection while uploading a 10GB video or during a dungeon raid is the digital equivalent of stepping on a Lego. Fortunately, Monkeybrains has been very reliable. I actually can't comment on customer service because I've never had to call them. Either I'm lucky, or the service just quietly works. We worked with Ryan, who was able to answer all our questions. Their monthly rate is 1/2 what we paid for Xfinity. It's only been a week, but our internet has not dropped once. Moises, the installer, arrived on time and did the entire installation himself in about 4 hours. He first set up a temporary antenna to check the download and upload speeds. Our speed was even better than what they had quoted. Once the antenna was set up on our roof, a cable is then connected to an outlet in our house. Once we set up our routers, everything worked seamlessly. Moises didn't leave until we confirmed that all of our devices were connected. If you live in the Fremont or neighboring areas, I highly recommend Tekify for your internet service.

Our household has plenty of bandwidth, and with my wife and I working from home, we are able to do so in an effective manner. No longer do we have to do the dance with Comcast each year to plea for a better rate. And the best part? No data caps to worry about. Twist will also give you an Eero router (or two) for WiFi if you need it. They are super easy to manage and set up, our wifi coverage is on point across both floors of our house. Installation included two eero 6+ mesh routers, which provide strong coverage throughout our house. The eero app must be installed on your phone for the installer to proceed. Maybe Sail Internet limits the available options on the eero app. Because of limit control options, it took hours to successfully add some old devices, particularly my Sangean and Auna Internet radios, to the network. TIP: For those who are not network experts, I recommend asking in advance if the installer can verify the network connections for all devices (robovacs, alarm devices, streaming boxes, TVs, printers, etc.) before departure or that you have a tech-savvy friend to help with connection issues after installation. TIP: Changing the router's network password to the same as your old router's password will make the changeover much easier.

Not only was the appointment canceled at the last minute, but Sonic couldn't even provide a new installation date. Their answer was essentially, "We don't know when it will happen." The most frustrating part isn't even the delay itself--it's the complete lack of communication. For over a month, there were no proactive updates, no realistic timeline, and no effort to keep me informed about what was happening. If there were permit issues or construction delays, why wasn't that communicated earlier? Why was I allowed to wait weeks for an appointment that apparently couldn't be fulfilled? What makes this even worse is that Sonic offered no temporary solution whatsoever. If fiber installation was delayed indefinitely, they could have suggested an alternative service, temporary internet option, or any kind of stopgap solution. Instead, I was left completely in the dark and without internet service. When I called customer service to get answers, I didn't get any new information. The representative simply repeated the same explanation about waiting for a permit over and over again, without providing any timeline, updates, or accountability. Delays happen. Permits can take time. Customers understand that. What customers don't appreciate is being ignored for weeks, having appointments canceled at the last minute, and then being told nobody knows when service will actually be available. At this point, I'm left with no internet, no installation date, and very little confidence in Sonic's ability to communicate with its customers. Extremely disappointing experience.
