    Tamales

Wow! Wow! Wow! How did it take us this long to come here? I would say this is a hidden gem back in a strip mall, but I don't know how hidden it was based on the fact that it was packed! Always a good sign of a new restaurant. They seated us in about 10 minutes, which was great. Everything we ate was phenomenal. We both had a glass of red sangria. It was delicious and not too sweet, which is how I like it. The star of the show for sure was the tiradito. It's so beautiful, the tuna was so fresh, and if I could've licked the plate I would've. The sauce was amazing. I ordered the tamales as my entree. It's an appetizer, but it was more than enough to eat as my meal. They were great tamales. My husband loved his order, the sopa criolla. I'd almost equate it to a Mexican ramen. We cannot wait to go back!

Had to come back for Devour Indy and so glad I did! Had a white sangria, their meatballs and enchiladas - wasnt a fan of the red but the green were perfect! The ladies are always so friendly and I brought a friend who was already talking about coming back before we even left!

Really enjoyed it here! The plaza looks like there's not much going on but the restaurant is pretty spacious. The service was very easygoing and not busy for Saturday lunch so me and my friend yapped for 3 hours Tiradito 8.5/10 Tangy creamy sauce with like spiced crunchy corn/pine nuts? The texture surprised me at first but I like the flavor Pasta huancaina 9/10 It tastes so familiar but also different at the same time. The sweetness and savoriness of the soy sauce and oyster sauce (I think) makes it so good Torta norteño 8.5/10 Cozy chili taste, mildly sweet and savory Pear pound cake 8/10 Not as fruity as I was expecting, more nutty but still yummy

Had such a great time at Macizo. I went with a group on a Saturday, so it was pretty busy. We didn't realize they take reservations, but will definitely plan ahead next time. Even so, the wait was only about 20 minutes. I ordered the pasta huancaína and it was a 10/10. Flavorful and the perfect portion size. The spicy red macha sauce really tied everything together. We shared the molletes and the focaccia bread was soft and delicious. I also have to mention the sangrias. The rosé sangria is a must-try! Last but not least, the pear poundcake with ice cream was a 15/10. Definitely my favorite part of the meal. Can't recommend it enough. You can really tell the owners put a lot of care and intention into this place. Despite how busy it was, the service was still great. The amazing reviews are absolutely deserved.

This was bigger than my face and I ate every last bit of it!

This has easily become one of my favorite restaurants, I try something new everytime I go and nothing has disappointed! Not to mention they are James Beard Semifinalist! Im so incredibly proud of them and am so happy I have the opportunity to enjoy their creations! Food? Try it all!! Dessert? GET the Pear poundcake a la mode!! You will thank or curse me later. I have not stopped thinking of it since getting it last month! So im happy to share I've already got it on the books for another trip! The staff are always so friendly and service is top notch! The owners are some of the sweetest people too! Supporting smalland local is just 1 of my favorite things to do! Their newly remodeled addition to the restaurant makes it so cozy and I feel as if I'm home. Its simple yet colorful, just makes me feel warm and happy from inside my belly!

This is officially my new favorite restaurant in Indianapolis. After living abroad for a year, it was on the top of my list to visit when we returned. We went within days of landing back stateside and were warmly greeted by the owners. I already loved the experience before we even sat down. As we were walking to our table, we ran into a fellow Yelp Elite / Indy food influencer, so you just know it's the place to be. Our table wanted to order as many things as possible because everything sounded AMAZING. We started with the guacamole bowl because, obviously. Also, it comes with homemade sourdough bread that they make daily which was incredible too. As I was reading the menu, I read that the tamales are nixtamalized and ground in house. That is a huge deal as that's a more laborious process but is the absolute best way for humans to consume corn. "The processing renders the protein more digestible, allowing tryptophan to be absorbed by humans." Probably 90% of corn you eat out isn't nixtamalized so this shows that they know food and really care. We immediately ordered the tamales and they were the best I've EVER had. I absolutely love lomo saltado, so when I saw the burrito de lomo saltado, I was immediately sold. It was big, fresh, well-prepared, and came with a side of bean salad. I would order it again immediately. I wish I could have it again now, but it's only 9am - LOL. I've heard amazing things about the tiradito tuna appetizer, pasta huancaina, and mole enchiladas too. We were a group of eight and every single person's plate was completely empty by the end of our meal. Everyone was so happy with the experience and it was made even sweeter when the owners brought out freshly-made Mexican sweet bread that they'd just made for everyone to try. I mean... what a dream!!! We had our toddler with us and were so appreciative of the kid's menu, the fact that they had highchairs, and the comfortability of the space being so family friendly. We chatted with the owners before leaving and it was truly such a memorable, delicious evening. Thank you so much! We'll be back and will be singing your praises ongoing!

Such a great restaurant! I've been here before but finally got around to taking my wife with me for late dinner and we LOVED it. They have mainly 4-person tables plus some bar seating, and the atmosphere and decor was lively and welcoming. We were able to get a table around without a reservation after about 40 minutes since it was so busy with Devour. The staff were very kind and patient despite us sitting down around 30 minutes before closing, and we never felt rushed to finish and leave. To start, we got the red sangria, seasonal agua fresca, and rajas con queso, which were all delightful! The bolilo bread was truly divine - like a thick focaccia (crispy outside soft inside) but sturdy enough to hold the weight of the heavy dip. For the entree, I had the taco norteño, which was so delicious and flavorful - the tortilla was great too. My wife has the enchiladas campechanas, and she loved the sauces especially the green mole. The red mole was nutty and warming, which was a nice complement to the green mole. The pickled red onions that came with the enchiladas really brought the ensemble together. Desert HAD to be the pear pound cake with the ice cream. The soft, warm, moist cake with the cold, rich ice cream was just a perfect way to end the meal. The owners, Omar and Luz, were wonderful and should be very proud of the wonderful food and service they've brought to the area. We will definitely be back!

Stellar. I thought I knew flavor but Macizo showed me up. Food and drinks are unique and delightful. The pear pound cake is divine. I love their sourdough bread. Service was passionate and caring. Comfortable inviting clean dining room. Free parking. This isn't your typical Mexican restaurant so don't come here for that. This is a I'm willing to try new things and have a good time trying to figure out what's in my mouth place. Salud!

What a gem of Intech Park! I loved my experience here. This is not just another Mexican restaurant. It has more unique, authentic feel with a hint of Peruvian cuisine as well. Any Latin American food lover should come here. I went for the Devour Indy menu. It's a three course meal and four of us ordered different things and tried each others food. The meatballs- great sauce The guacamole bowl- generous portion, great with the sourdough bread served with it. Sopa criolla- my favorite Peruvian soup. It has an egg, pasta, beef and potatoes in it. Served with bread. Perfect for winter! Jericalla- it's like a flan, not too sweet Pear pound cake ala mode - wonderful desert, moist pound cake with ice cream on top. All the servers who came to our table were nice, friendly and professional. I loved the atmosphere and I'm sure I'll come back.

My friends brought me here for a celebration and all of the food was on point. This is my first time having Peruvian food and it is so flavorful and the chilli oil is so delicious. The place is clean and nice with plenty of parking outside. The service was wonderful and our servers were all so attentive with answering questions, giving recommendations and ensuring that we were well taken care of.

Luz y Omar and the whole Macizo family have my heart, such incredible people running one of Indiana's most unique restaurants. Where else can you get a menu of flavorful and comforting Mexican Peruvian food with influences of Asian flavors? Salsa macha is good on everything and the fresh bread and drinks they make in house is a nice pairing! It's a cozy and thoughtful space with a lot of joy.

When we arrived, the place was empty. We weren't even sure that they were open until we saw the kitchen staff behind the line. Upon entering, I saw a kiosk where you can place your order, but a woman emerged from the back to take our orders. Being that we weren't familiar with the menu, I told her that the kiosk might be easier. She insisted that it wasn't, and as I went on, I realized the same. The kiosk states that there is a $1.25 charge for the sauce on the side, but she explained that it comes with one sauce free of charge and additional sauces cost extra. We placed our order with her: A small Italian salad to share, the Fatty B calzone with the spicy marinara sauce and the Hot Mother Clucker calzone with the chipotle garlic ranch. We ordered them with the suggested sauces but also order the regular marinara and the garlic sauces on the side. We were given glasses for water (self-serve from the soda fountain) and also ordered a bottled beer and canned cider. By the time we were done ordering, a line had formed. The store was understaffed, which was explained to us later, so we had to exercise patience. We didn't receive our beverages until after the calzones were delivered. Before that, we received our rather large, small salad. It was more than enough for two people. The woman had explained to us that it comes with 4 cups of lettuce plus the toppings. That information helped us make our decision to share. The space is large and we noticed cornhole boards to be used on the patio. Unfortunately, it was raining when we went, otherwise we would have played. The calzones were good and filling. Neither of us finished ours and had food to enjoy at home later that evening. The Hot Mother Clucker isn't very pizza-esque, but dipping it into marinara sort of brought it back into the fold. The suggested chipotle garlic ranch was a better pairing indeed. The salad bowl/plate is oddly shaped, which caused toppings to being spilling off the sides. When it was brought to our table, the woman tried saving the toppings by wedging them between the order slip and her fingers and dumping them back onto our plate. I stopped her. I wasn't trying to be rude, but I don't want to eat food that a stranger's hands have touched. I explained this to her. She tried to assure us that she washes her hands constantly throughout the day, but she'd just come over from the register without a handwashing break. Just let the toppings fall where they may! Let's keep it hygienic.

The service was very helpful deciding what to order. The setting was fun down town indanopolis feel. The lobster roll was definitely the standout. It was packed with fresh, flavorful lobster and had a nice balance of buttery richness without feeling too heavy. You can tell the seafood is high quality, which makes a huge difference. The lobster deviled eggs were super unique and honestly one of my favorite bites. Creamy, slightly tangy, and topped with lobster--it's not something you see everywhere, and they executed it really well. My husband tried the shrimp burrito, which was great for a seafood spot. It was hearty, well-seasoned, and filled generously. It didn't feel like an afterthought on the menu. To finish, the cheesecake was a great choice it was from the cheesecake factory is what the offered for my birthday smooth, rich, and just the right level of sweetness with a strawberry topping to end the meal without being overwhelming. Overall, Slap's Fish Market delivers on both creativity and quality. It's a great spot if you want fresh seafood with a few fun, unexpected twists. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Not gonna lie, my work group really likes coming here when we have lunch outings. My only problem?…read moreI very much dislike seafood to any capacity. Yet, I still eat here just fine. I feel like most seafood places will have vegetarian options by way of removing the fish from pasta dishes or salad, but it's also nice to know that you can get chicken as a substitute on most of these kinds of dishes, too. Granted, it's just like chicken tenders, but still good nonetheless. I really like their firecracker pasta, which is moderately spicy in my opinion. There's no particular fishy smell here, which is always a good sign that the seafood they serve here is freshly prepared. Our food always comes out quickly for lunch and we've been a group as large as 8 or 9. I do believe that ordering is mostly done online in their mass Ave location, though. I don't really seek out a place like Slapfish on my own (no offense at all, just not a seafood girlie!!), but I would assume that it's a rather popular establishment as they recently opened a fifth location in the greater Indy area. If I did like fish and such more, I'd probably be here on a more regular rotation.

We never felt rushed, but we also never waited for anything. The food held up its end of the bargain too. The fried mozzarella disappeared embarrassingly fast and earned a solid 9.3 on my unofficial stretch meter. Crispy on the outside, perfectly gooey inside, with a marinara sauce that was every bit as good as the cheese itself. The chef salad was fresh, generously loaded with toppings, and easily big enough for a meal. I honestly couldn't tell you what beer I ordered... Because what I remember most is the experience. Sharing appetizers on a sunny patio, meeting fellow basketball fans from halfway around the world, and watching Indianapolis come alive before tipoff. It reminded me that sports have a funny way of turning complete strangers into friends. We'll absolutely be back the next time we're headed to Gainbridge.

Our server was friendly and responsive to one member of our group (male) but repeatedly didn't acknowledge another (female). This wasn't a one-time thing, it happened several times over the course of our visit, and it came across as dismissive. As for the drinks: beer prices were nice and cheap, but the margarita was on the expensive side and not really worth it. The place seems geared toward bigger dinner crowds, which may be why a two-person drinks-only table didn't get much attention, but being essentially ignored isn't a great look either way. We wouldn't return. 2/5.

We selected Doc B's and it was our first time here. Normally, we would be at one our favorite restaurants across the parking lot, Seasons 52. I'm so happy we tried Doc B's. It was absolutely amazing on every single facet of being a great eatery. The facility is inviting and fits a business casual lunch crowd and would also be most appropriate for a date night or special gathering. Friendly and prompt service starts at the hostess stand and just builds from that point. Our server, Sam (Samantha) was one of the most professional and attentive server we have experienced in some time. It takes a great management team to mold a staff to be exceptional. And to our surprise the General Manager, John served us our entrees at the table. But later checked in with us to evaluate our experience; which is unheard of these days. John and Samantha impressed us so very much, that Doc B's will now become a regular destination. Oh yes, I should comment on our food and cocktails. TOP NOTCH!! My wife had a carnitas sandwich with slow roasted pork, coleslaw, a pickle spear and thick onion ring with amazing barbecue sauce. It was served with the best tasting side I have ever put in my mouth. You must see what they do with a smashed baby Yukon potato with special breading and deep fried. I had the famous Wok Bowl with shrimp and lo mein noodles and sweet and spicy Thai sauce. It is packed with the freshest vegetables and sprinkled with cashews. I was blown away with the quantity of shrimp in that bowl. They do not skimp on the protein. I enjoyed this dish so very much and can truly say it isnt just a stir fry entree. Beautiful facility, friendly and attentive staff, management that truly cares about the customer and quality food coming from the kitchen that will not disappoint. INDIANAPOLIS IS BLESSED TO HAVE ONE OF JUST TEN DOC B's RESTAURANTS IN THE COUNTRY.

2 stars…read more Unimpressive. Service was slower than molasses on a cold day. We ordered two appetizers, and it took nearly 30 minutes for them to arrive. During that entire time, no one had even taken our entrée order. Our server was pleasant, but she wasn't very present. We found ourselves constantly looking around for her, but she was nowhere to be found when we needed something. She brought me a glass of water without ice, so I had to ask for it. Thankfully, they have the good nugget ice, so that was definitely a win. One thing that really stood out was the food delivery. Normally, restaurants use seat numbers so the food runner knows exactly where each dish belongs. Instead, they just placed plates wherever there was space. It was odd. Maybe it was because we were seated at a round table? I ordered the wings with a side of broccoli. The wings were decent--good enough, but nothing I'd go out of my way to order again. The broccoli was cooked perfectly, but unfortunately it wasn't warm. I also asked for hot habanero sauce and a side of garlic butter. The habanero sauce was disappointingly watery, and the garlic butter arrived cold. Why not melt the butter before bringing it to the table? The entire experience left me scratching my head. That said, I'll definitely give them another chance because this really felt like an off night. I still want to try the candied bacon, and I'm almost certain I spotted a hot fudge sundae making its way to another table--even though I didn't see it anywhere on the menu! Wish me luck!
