Ok so I have one major opinion about this place. It's consistency. I've been here 3 times in the last month. I have ordered the same thing every time, which is a bean & cheese with onions & cilantro. They have all been different. The 1st time there was no apparent onion cilantro, 2nd time there was onion & cilantro but they somehow added carnitas. It was good & I'm not a vegan or anything but I wasn't craving carnitas, today I placed my order & it was made perfectly. Perfect balance of beans, nice cheese & a good amount of cilantro & onion. This is the spot! I love Agave sooo much. They have an amazing breakfast burrito, an amazing california burrito & even a surf and turf. IT IS YUM. They are fast (10 mins) & have a nice outdoor patio to eat at. There is also a drive thru or you can order for pickup. The burritos are great, as well as the quesadillas. Food was cooked fresh. Taco de Papa - Shell held up on the way back to the hotel. Lettuce, little cheese and tomato. The potato isn't seasoned heavy like, normally they can have a little spice or seasoning but this was good. Taco de Machaca / Shredded Beef - Really good. Lots of meat throughout the taco. Sam lettuce cheese tomato topping as the potato one. Beef was flavored well and cooked perfectly. Bean and Cheese burrito w extra cheese - Wow! I don't know if all their burritos are this size but holy moly! This thing is massive. Probably about 12in long and 5 across. The beans are delicious. Glad I got extra cheese as they put it throughout the whole burrito. I wish it was a little more higher in temp to melt the cheese properly but it's all good. Ive been to Agave 4 times and its consistently been delicious. Normally, I dont eat at taco shops because its always hit or miss. We had the hot cheeto burrito and added white sauce. They messed up one order (sauce wasn't removed) and quickly fixed it and let us keep the messed up order too. We dined inside but there's a drive through option. The bacon was crispy and it was fresh. They had green and red salsas. Both were good. Carnitas Taco (4): Good size. The pork was cubed which was actually pretty good. Agave Taco Shop has opened in the former barn-like building that used to house Taco Fiesta in Point Loma. The gaudy two-tone exterior paint scheme is gone and has been replaced with a sleek, modern look. The seating was limited to four inside tables and four outside tables on the patio in front of the main entrance. Hanging above the service window in the lobby area was two menu screens that listed most of the staple items (e.g. burritos, tacos, tostadas, tortas, etc) found at local Mexican joints. There were six mini tacos available at an affordable $2.35 each. It has become increasingly difficult to find street-size tacos nowadays for less than $3 apiece so these seemed like a bargain. I chose four of them for my post-workout meal... carne asada, cabeza, pastor, and birria. Cabeza is made from the cow's head which is a more popular cut offered south of the border. The meats were served on two fresh corn tortillas with cilantro, onions, and guacamole as toppings. For the price charged, I thought the size and amount of filling were quite reasonable. Their birria used shredded beef as the protein. The seasoning from the broth that was infused into the meat was flavorful. I would have to say the birria was my favorite of the four choices. There are plenty of Mexican food spots in the Midway/Point Loma district so time will tell if the products from Agave Taco Shop will hold up to the competition as word spreads about their presence. read more

It's hard to find a good late night Mexican to go restaurant. This place didn't disappoint. Burrito was massive. I asked for extra rice and it didn't appear to be extra rice but it was still good. They did add the sour cream which is usually not the case with other Mexican joints. Idk why but 80% of the time I don't get the creama added. lol anyways, this place came thru and actually added it! I had actually seen a few people on one of our local forums posting about this place. When I arrived on a Sunday evening, it was pretty busy, but not packed. It was clean with a very colorful mural on the back wall. Most people seemed to be getting food to-go, or passing through the drive-thru. The woman at the register was very friendly and seemed to easily handle the restaurant and drive-thru customers. I ordered a carne asada burrito for my husband as well as an order of chips and salsa, and a side of pico de gallo. For myself, I ordered the camarones al chipotle: shrimp in a creams sauce with beans, salad, rice and tortillas. The food came out quickly and was reasonably priced for the amount of food. My food was tasty, but nothing special. My husband said the burrito was your basic carne asada burrito. The pico da gallo was disappointing. The tomatoes were not very red and it lacked the cilantro.
