This used to be good 'dinner' food, but, lately, it's gone downhill. Rubbery meat, watery mashed potatoes, and the desserts ate terrible.

Ah this was our go to place growing up. I am a vegetarian now but I used to love the Hamburger Clubs here. I still will come in for an excellent grilled cheese. My dad still comes here every weekend and knows all the staff. You MUST get one the the cream pies here the coconut, banana, or chocolate. All delicious. read more

This is a pretty classy diner. It has all the usual food and it seems like a pretty hot spot. I went there for lunch one day and it was packed. We had to share a table since it's such a small space, and I ended up having a common friend with the guy who sat with us. I got an omelet and it was pretty darn good. I guess just make sure you don't go when it's busy, but maybe you'll meet someone new? read more

I just love the Agawam, I always get a burger, cole slaw, fries, and a slab of chocolate cream or banana cream pie (yeah, I eat a lot for a girl!). They are a traditional diner so nothing really gourmet and they use iceberg lettuce...stuff like that...so that is why I didn't give them 5 stars. But, if I just rated the meal I always get and the service, well, I'd give them 6! read more

This is an old fashioned local hang out. We go here every Sunday for breakfast or early lunch. I love it! Coffee is good and the refills keep coming. I love the pancakes, the eggs and the bagels! I've been going here for at least twenty years and even though I now live in the Pacific Northwest it's often my first stop when I get off the plane at Logan. Fair prices, good people. There are other diners where you can get fancier food (although the Agawam's pies give anyone a run for their money) but you'll always get a solid meal here. read more

I've been coming here ever since I was a child and I absolutely love this place. All of their food and pies are homemade. They have delicious, hardy soups in the winter and the bet egg salad sandwiches. Whenever I'm in the area I always stop in for some soup and a sandwich. Good small diner that has been there for as long as I can remember. This place has all the typical diner food (basically anything you could want) and its consistently good. At least every time I go about once a year. Last time there was last weekend, got a bacon omelet and pancakes. Came with toast and home-fries. It was all bomb, I'm pumped to go back. read more

Its never easy to say something negative about an icon, but this icon only rates as average in our travels. Our usual breakfast of 2 over easy, bacon, home fries and hash were disappointing. Eggs were toooooo well done but not burnt. By too well done we mean DRY. Home fries were tasteless and could have been cooked a little more. The bacon was the best thing on the plate..done well but not overdone. Toast was exceptionally good. Think you can't ruin toast???..go to some of the places we have been! The highlight of our meal had to be the hash...exceptional....had its own distinctive taste and done just right..try it!. The decor is just what you would expect from a diner...including table jukeboxes....memories. Service was fast and cheerful. Clean and inexpensive this Icon has been around since the 40's and should outlast us. I've been eating there for 20 years and it's like a time capsule. I've tried about the entire menu and the only thing below par was the chicken croquettes and the fried chicken. My girlfriend and I split the chicken pie and finish with a slice of banana creme pie. Doesn't get any better. read more

i've only been here once, because some local friends recommended it. i may go back because it's very convenient to my usual errand-running route. i was born in the 1950's, and i've never understood the attraction of the whole "50's diner retro" thing. i always thought it was something to happily leave behind. don't like crowded noisy places full of nosy intrusive people, but really i only had one complaint about the food (pretty good for me, because i'm picky!) which was the lack of bread selection. they have white, wheat, or sesame roll - my husband is allergic to sesame and i think whole wheat tastes like cardboard, so that leaves wonder bread. really? no rye? light, dark, pumpernickel, even a mahble? no kaiser or bulkie? the service was actually more efficient than it looked. i did get a coffee refill and it didn't take to long to get served. however, i overheard the waitress telling every SINGLE table that she was sorry, but she totally forgot what they had ordered. in our case, it was 3 seconds after we ordered, and she hadn't left the table yet. (you know, they have this new thing called a "pencil" and you use it with a "pad"). foodwise, though, a couple of my pet peeves were notably absent. pastrami was tender, neither dried out from grilling nor soggy from boiling. cole slaw tasted like cabbage, had a crunch, and wasn't swimming in a sugary vinegar puddle. potato salad tasted homemade. both were a little undersalted, refreshing because restaurant food is usually oversalted and it's easier to add salt at the table, impossible to get rid of salt. both might have been dryer than some like but they were just right for me; and an extra blob of mayo was on the plate so you could add it if you wanted. i can only assume that people have a great sentimental attachment for this place, and aren't going there for the food or service. but i'll try it again. read more

It's the real deal. Authentic diner food and atmosphere. The coffee is good, the breakfast food is well prepared. If you dig the diner experience, you'll love this place. A new friend took me here because they know I LOVE whipped cream desserts and their cream pies are just delicious. I had chocolate, banana, and coconut cream pie slices that were excellent and a few bites of each flavor was a killer combination! I don't know about the main menu items, they looked just okay and so-so but I don't think I'd go back for anything but the pies! WORTH the drive. read more

Dirty, with mostly processed food. Had a fish sandwich. Was one of those frozen squares like at McDonald's only 3 times the price with canned string beans. Breakfast came with gross dirty utensils on a sticky table. Be prepared to sell your first born for a piece of pie! read more

This can't be said anymore, as I came down with a severe case of food poisoning after eating the blueberry pancakes here yesterday morning. The agawam has been a part of my life since I was little. And for all you downers who expect a fivestar, 5 course meal, get out. There is not, never has been, or never will be, a hostess or a bus boy. It's a freakin diner. Delicious food, every time. Extraordinary pies, cakes, puddings you name it. The waitresses are always friendly, my favorite being Johanna, a mother of SIX! (Who's daughter also works there) anyways, she's always cheerful and happy to talk to you even if she's busy. And its always busy, the waitresses are always running and remember EVERYONES order. Nothing written down. I recoment turkey tips. Real turkey and so good! I've overheard people saying they've come from new jersey just for the pie. Anyways deffinetly worth the trip! read more
