I use Liberty Mutual, who unfortunately uses Agero for roadside assistance claims. When my car broke down on the highway, the roadside assistance team told me it would be about an hour until a tow truck could come get the car.They ended up scheduling and canceling 4 different tow truck services. I waited on the side of the highway for 5 hours. I called the roadside assistance team about 15 times during that timeframe, and each agent had a different explanation as to why their services were taking so long. I gave them the exact address of where I was on the highway, and one of the agents sent the last tow truck driver to a residential address 40 minutes from my location. In the end, I had to personally communicate with the driver and send him the address myself so he could pick up the car. The roadside assistance team was unhelpful and it seemed many agents did not know what they were doing. I didn't expect to get roadside assistance within 30 minutes, but waiting for 5 hours is preposterous. The next day, I called them to inform them that the roadside assistance I received was awful, and after talking to a few agents, they agreed to reimburse me with $229.00, which was the cost for my car repair. They passed me on to Agero, the "company" they contract for roadside assistance. I write company with quotation marks because Agero seems to be even more unreliable and unhelpful than Liberty Mutual. They agreed to mail me a check within 2 weeks. After waiting a month, and emailing Agero 4 times for a follow-up during that entire month (they never responded), I called them. The agent told me she would need to talk to a supervisor, and the supervisor would call me that same day. That didn't happen. I called the next day, and the Agero agent told me that she looked through the notes in my case, and that nobody ever agreed to pay $229.00. She added that in the notes, it was mentioned that Agero had tried reaching out by calling, but I never answered. I checked my call logs and no numbers related to Agero were there, and I had no messages in my voicemail either, so that was not true. I never got the full amount reimbursed, and the check they sent was for $75. Agero is a terrible company, and the waiting times are not acceptable. Due to this experience, I will be switching to an insurance provider that doesn't use Agero, and I will always avoid this company. read more

I ended up getting service from Agero through my towing coverage with USAA. It was awful. Agero did $1500 damage towing my car by removing the wheel and then driving my car into a parking spot with the wheel off. I had video proof of the tow doing damage from the security feed at my car repair shop. I submitted a damaged vehicle form and then they proceeded to ghost me for the next several months. I knew the emails and phone numbers I was calling were monitored, but no one replied or answered the phone. PRO TIP for anyone dealing with this in the future - I finally got a response after I filled out a complaint form with BBB and started calling and emailing every single day and threatening to continue to do so until they contacted me. I recommend calling different extensions too and asking to be transferred to your case manager from as many people as possible and letting them all know how long you've been trying to get a hold of them. After a few days of this, someone "mysteriously" was finally near the phone and told me I'd hear back shortly. They ghosted me again for a week but as soon as I started back up with being as annoying as possible they got back to me. Their next trick was "accidentally" mistyping my address to send the check to, which I called them out on and threatened to continue contacting them continuously again. The check arrived at my correct address three days after this interaction. Don't give up if they've damaged your car, keep heckling them until they get their act together. Good luck. read more

My car was damaged in a hit-and-run accident. USAA is my insurance provider. Took Agero over 5 hours to pick up my car from the scene of the accident. Still hadn't delivered my car to the collision center after FOUR DAYS!! When they did finally deliver my car, they let it roll off of the bed and into a fence which caused extensive rear end damage to my car. I have had to use them several times since they partner with my insurance agency and every time I have had to use them has been a hassle. I've been quoted an hour for response, but my average response is a minimum of 4 hours. This leaves drivers vulnerable and unsafe. When you call for help, they only offer to set up a new service, which restarts the clock. There is no accountability, no responsibility and no professionalism. The fact that they have such a horrible rating speaks not only volumes about them, but the companies they contract with and insurance agencies that use this service. If I were in the business of providing roadside assistance and has anything less than a 4 star review, I would shut it down. People in these situations tend to be grateful, but when you provide incompetent, unreliable, unprofessional service, you earn the reputation that Agero has. AAA, I'm coming back to you. This service is a joke. I'm unsure if they know what roadside assistance even means. My husband waited on the side of an unsafe hwy for over an hour and a half before contacting the insurance back asking where help was and when they're coming. It's freezing out and in the middle of the night where he'd just had a near miss with a deer and ended up with a flat. The insurance agent finally got back to him to report that Agero claimed they saw "tire change" and felt they didn't need to come right away and were gonna wait till later because they didn't realize it was in relation to an accident. So does this mean if you have a flat they assume the vehicle is abandoned and the person walks???? Not just any person but a soldier who was on his way to his military unit. And these are the type of people he has to fight to protect the country for. If my insurance didn't work with them I'd go somewhere else in a heartbeat. Sadly I have no choice. If I could offer 0 stars I would. Not sure how they stay in business. Needed a tow on my RV who is insured with Progressive. I have road service through my Progressive policy as well as Good Sam. They both use this company which is a huge mistake. Agero called to tell me they were unable to locate a towing comapny within a 100 mile radius who was willing to work with them. I am in Sacramento CA and there numerous companies equipped to tow motor homes. I reached out to several different companies to get quotes for self pay and was told they all were willing to send a truck but they WILL NOT work with or bill with Agero. Two of the companies informed me it was due to Agero not paying their invoices. I reached out to both Progressive and Good Sam who informed me they have received numerous complaints reagarding Agero but had no solution to offer me. I have cancelled my Good Sam as I find no benefit to paying for a service I cannot use. As far as Progressive I will be looking for another insurance company who does not use them. Asked the driver if the car should not be towed from the rear he replied no and proceeded to to from the front. We hit a curb with our car and opened a claim with StateFarm. They use Agero, and this is where our claims process went horribly wrong. All the horrible reviews you read about this company are true in Washington State. Agero hired a local towing company to deliver our car to the repair shop. Problem is, they never delivered our car for 8 days. No one knew where it was, no one knew where the towing company took it, just went missing. Finally the car arrived at repair shop, with so much more damage. Luckily we took pictures of car before it got towed, that shows no damage. Now we need a total new back fender and rear differential problems doe to bad tow. DO NOT allow your insurance company to arrange for a tow, you may never see your car again. Do not trust your safety and the safety of your family to USAA or their Roadside Assistance sub-contractor Agero. My truck broke down on a heavily traveled mountain highway in WA State, late at night, in the cold, my wife and kids with me. I was on the phone with USAA and Agero 4 different times. Each time the USAA rep said "everything's ok, we'll get you a tow truck, nothing to worry about, its 100% covered", and then immediately be transferred to Agreo and have them say "Actually we can't find you a tow", or "we found you a tow but it's going to cost $17,000.00" or "we'll get you a tow but its 'out of network'" or actually book me tow and then the tow driver called me to say "its too far, I'm not coming" and cancel. Fortunately I had the foresight after the second attempt to book my own tow, knowing that I might be out-of-pocket, but I needed something. My tow truck was there in 45 minutes. Total was $760. Then, when I went to apply for reimbursement through USAA they tried to swindle me out of $250 because they said my tow was "too far". After I called them back and taught them how Google Maps works and what the Pick Up and Drop Off addresses on my invoice meant, and that 43.5 was less than 50, they reluctantly agreed to reimburse me in full. Honestly don't know how this company isn't out of business. My insurance company progressive, uses Agero for third party towing. The tow company dispatched went against my orders to not start my car. They started it and drove it after my car over heated. After it got to its towing location I had a rod knock. I filed a claim, and can never get a hold of anyone. And now they don't want to pay for repairs because there's no evidence to prove there wasn't damage beforehand. I didn't know I had to record my car not making any sound and overheating before calling a tow truck. This is ridiculous. This company is a scam. I am extremely frustrated with Agero. This is twice now that they have not followed through on our case. Our insurance company, USAA, uses them for roadside assistance. If they stay with Agero, I may have to drop USAA. We put in a claim for assistance on 09/05/20. My son was left on the side of the highway for 8 hours in 100-degree heat before a tow truck arrived and that was only after I had to call Agero back twice. I was assured on Friday, 09/11/20 by USAA that the vehicle would be towed to the dealership that day. Friday came and went with no tow so I messaged USAA and was told I could contact Agero myself. I did and was told that a truck would be unavailable until Monday and that one would be dispatched between 8:00 and 8:30 am. At 9:00 am, still no truck so I called Agero again and was told that no one had dispatched the truck. I should not have to follow up with a company to be sure they are doing what they say they are going to do. 12/18/2022 - I was involved in a single vehicle accident at 11:40pm after swerving to miss a group of deer in the road causing me to strike a tree in the ditch, disabling my vehicle. I called USAA for help and was forwarded to Agero by 12:10 am on 12/18/2022. Agero sent a text with a link to post my location. My location was "6231 Co Hwy 17, XXXX, XX XXXXX" (redacted info). This was then relayed to me via phone and a tow was dispatched... FROM MILWAUKEE, WI over 1000 miles away. I immediately called the tow company and cancelled the tow when I discovered the problem. 12/19/2022 - 0200 am. Called USAA again for help. Agent stayed on the line while calling Agero. Agero claimed tow was cancelled by subscriber and was my fault. We requested a tow again. 2 hours, 37 minutes pass on the phone with Agero. Nothing but silence for the last 40 minutes of the call. I become irate, ask both people on the line "is anything happening right now?" Agero agent attempts to say something and hangs up. USAA agent calls back. Agero books tow from "The towing company" with a 707 area code. I try to look up the company on google, doesn't exist. I ask for the tow company's phone number, type it into google - unassigned. I call the number and an old woman answers the phone. Not a tow company. Agero claims this is the tow company coming to get me and it has a 90-120 minute wait. We wait two hours. I call the OTHER number Agero supplied to me for the tow driver. Number goes to woman's private residence in CA. 12/19/2022 - 0440 am. I call USAA yet again. On the phone from 0440 to 0710 with Agero. They claim they have no information concerning an accident or a tow. USAA agent becomes very irritated and gives them all the information again. 12/19/2022 - At this point, we're at 4:00 pm. I'm irate, tired, hungry and have missed 2 shifts of work. I decide to leave the accident scene and go home while I'm talking to Agero. The woman, while very understanding, had no idea what was happening or even if a tow was coming. She left me with "We will call you tomorrow (12/20) at 0800 with help. 12/20/2022 - Agero never called, I called them back at 0900 and they started over fresh. Like nothing happened and are claiming that "we'Re wOrkINg oN iT" with no ETA and hung up on me. Its been 36 hours since the accident and nothing has happened other than me losing wages due to Agero's incompetence, as they told me I needed to be at the vehicle when the tow provider arrived. read more

Worst company every. Progressive insurance used Agero tow my neighbors car to my house blocking me in my driveway and I could not yet out to go to work. I lost my job because of it. I was in my 90 days, and am not allowed to miss any work without prior approval for doctors appointments. Agero tries to lie and say it was them, but the sherrif got all the information of the owner, and the owner showed me proof that Agero did tow it and towed it to my house. They got the address wrong. The owner gave them the correct one. Agero has had the tow truck driver call and threaten me. And on top of that that, they told me that I should have left my house earlier because things happen. Yeah, things happen, like a flat tire, getting pulled over, a car accident, or even being stick in traffic. I show him my online bank card transactions so he takes car. Then he calls owner who tells him to bring to impound as they have not been paid. I have had the misfortune to need roadside assistance three times. My insurance company, The Hartford, uses Agero. All of these interactions were immensely unsatisfactory. I don't have the energy to detail all of the problems. Let me just outline my last interaction with this horrible company. My car would not start. So, I called the phone number that my insurance company gave me to get emergency road service. The first time that I called, Agero told me that my insurance policy had expired and there was nothing that they could do for me. I have no idea how Agero erroneously determined that my insurance policy had expired. The second time that I called, I was disconnected. The third time that I called, I had to wait and hold the line for 37 minutes before I was connected to an Agero service representative. When you call, Agero tells you that they are very busy and that I will be 30 minutes or more before you will be connected to an Agero agent. That's BS. What kind of emergency road service is this? If Agero is busy, they should put some more people on the phones. We all should write to our insurance carriers about the terrible service that Agero provides. That is what I did. read more

My truck broke down inside Moab Utah, which probably has more tow trucks per square mile than a tow truck factory. The first tow that was lined up showed up within 2 hours. Unfortunately the shop I was to be towed to didn't exist any more. The shop the tow truck took me to said they couldn't find anything wrong, so I drove my truck about a mile before it stopped running again. I called the same tow company, who assured me they would come get me again as soon as agero dispatch put in the order. I waited hours, speaking with agero several times in the process. They informed me that the shop they had already had tow me once was "out of network" and that I would have to wait 2 hours for a tow and that it would be out of pocket because of how far it was. Keep in mind I'm in the middle of a town full of towing companies. I asked the rep how it was possible that the same company was now out of network, at which point my call mysteriously dropped. I called back and asked for a supervisor, at which point I was placed on hold until my call dropped again. At this point I had a family member drive the hour and a half to come get me, as the next representative I spoke with assured me my truck would be towed by 8:00 in the morning on the next day. The next day I had heard nothing by 11:00 am, so I called and they informed me my truck would be towed on Monday, which was two days away. I tried to call USAA directly to get help, but they just routed me back to agero, even when they told me my situation was being escalated to a higher up representative at USAA. The higher up representative was just Agero, where I selected one of 2 options, that told me to call USAA and then hung up. I finally called later in the day and yelled at the 20th agero rep I had spoken to. She just called the tow service I had already called, already had towed me once and had agreed to tow me again. I had to give her their number. They had my truck picked up within 30 minutes, and apologized to me that I had to deal with agero. This company is an absolute dumpster fire at every level. They put the safety of people and their property at risk and anyone working for them should be ashamed of themselves, and USAA should be ashamed for making their customers go through this. read more

I called through my insurance company, gave precise directions on the major road and was told that my vehicle would be picked up shortly and expect a call from their tow company. I received a call back saying their company couldn't find my vehicle that was literally on the side of the road with a white flag hanging out of the vehicle. It took 2 whole days and AT LEAST 8 more calls of "we will escalate this" before finally talking to someone who could help me, but it cost another towing claim on my insurance because Agero already paid the first company that never picked up my car. Another issue was that I lost my key later on and they denied to have me towed home. The only options they gave me was to get towed further away from home to a dealership at my own expense. They also said it was difficult to tow a car with no key. Lol. I told the Ms. Stephanie that lo vehicles have emergency release to out your car on neutral. Agero was dispatched to take our car from the USAA facility in Ogden. The driver cancelled the tow claiming the car had not been released, even though USAA requested the tow. The next time they were supposed to get the car, we got word that it had been delivered. Called the shop owner who verified it had not. USAA dug in and finally confirmed the driver had not yet picked up the car! Instead, he was asking for payment before hand because Agero is apparently known for not paying the tow companies they use. My wife sat at the side of the road for 2.5 hours after Agero claimed to have dispatched a truck to change a flat tire for her car. She called them back several times and they kept telling her that the truck was a few minutes away. Finally, after 2.5 hours, she cancelled the order with Agero and I called Bandit Towing, a local company. They were at her side in a half hour and got the problem solved. Even thought Erie Insurance recommends Agero, I will never use them again. read more
