I found out about this place from Living Social, as they had a special on a spa mani and deluxe pedi. So my friend and I scheduled an appointment for the same day. We were given a warm and friendly greeting and offered water or tea. We were then taken to a separate area where the mani/pedis are done. I really loved the atmosphere, it was so warm and tranquil. Bessy and Maria alternated between the 2 of us for our mani/pedi. I loved that they used all OPI products and they all felt fantastic. They were both so friendly and attentive. We didn't feel rushed at all and felt totally relaxed. Bessy is the owner and she seemed to be so knowledgeable & passionate about everything. The location is on San Gabriel Blvd and Las Tunas. It's easy to miss if you're not looking for it, as it's tucked away between a few other businesses in a pale yellow business building. If you're traveling north on San Gabriel, it's on your left hand side. It's right before the Friar Tux shop sign. There's 2 hour street parking in front and also a few spots in the back for parking. When I went to the back, Latisha (my masseuse) asked me if I wanted full body with front shoulders also or just my back. I was a bit confused because I've never been asked this before but I said I wanted full body - including front shoulders. She said okay and told me to start off face down. I got undressed and looked at the time - something I always do before I get a massage. It was 3:42 at that time. I get massages pretty regularly so I immediately noticed that the hole in the table was a little small for my head - it dug into my forehead/cheeks but it's ok, maybe I just have an oddly big head (so sad). Latisha came in and started - I felt the pressure was too light so after a few minutes, I asked for more pressure. She agreed and started using her arms/elbows which was more pressure - so that was good. Unfortunately, she didn't seem as adept at this and it felt more like pushing than an actual massage. Sadly, I've had much better. At the end, she finishes and tells me she's done and leaves the room. Now I was really confused - she never asked me to turn over. I know at the beginning I requested the full body/front shoulders, so I was kind of upset. I felt like I had been deceived in a way - where was the rest of my massage? Also, I looked at the time, and it was only 4:30pm. 10 minutes? That's 1/6 of the massage - it's not a small thing. After, Bessy came out and asked how the massage was. I was honest and told her that I felt it was a bit short. She asked me what time I had gone back there and I told her 3:40. She said that she had taken my friend in at 3:40 and I had gone in right before her. I told her that I don't know what time she went in (since I was already back there) but I checked the time when I was back there, and it was 3:40. I was done at 4:30. She went to ask Latisha and then came back and told me that Latisha said it was the full time. I gave up at this point and said it didn't matter, it's fine. "It does matter, you're the one who brought it up," Bessy said. "Right, because you asked me how the massage was so I was honest," I replied. "But we're obviously not going to agree - you're saying it was 60 minutes, I'm saying it wasn't. Therefore, it's okay, it doesn't matter." I was ready to let it go - although I wanted to bring up the other problems I had with the massage, Bessy seemed too defensive to do so. "Well she's been here since 8am so she might have just gotten confused," Bessy said. "But I took your friend back at 3:40 so it was 60 minutes." I don't even understand this argument - when I go to work at 8am, I'm expected to do the exact same job at 3pm as 8am. When I go get a massage, I expect the same service regardless of the time of day. I just let it go at this point - I didn't want to argue, I just wanted to give my honest opinion of the massage. Bessy tried to smooth things over and give us discounts for the next time we came back and even gave my friend the discounted price that I had gotten. This was nice but I was already way too frustrated to care. I've never experienced this - when I'm honest about how service was, usually people are receptive to that. I just felt attacked here and like I couldn't give my opinion. I decided to just stop talking and write a review here instead. Once we left, the 3 of us compared experiences and it turns out that both of them didn't like their services either. The massages just weren't as good here as we've had other places. I came back for a second chance at the facial and this time it was MUCH better! I would give this place 5 stars but my beginning experience wasn't all too great. The website says to come in 30 mins before your scheduled appointment, and I did so. My appointment was at 3:30 pm and I came exactly at 3 pm. The door was locked and you can't see inside. I've confirmed my appointment about 2 times so I'm sure they would've remembered.... I waited outside for 45 minutes until someone came. They offered me water/coffee/tea while I still waited Once I got into the waxing room it was beautiful and relaxing. My esthetician was Bessy. She rubbed essential oils on my head and gave me a mini massage before my waxing which was wonderful! My experience with her was super relaxing and she assures you before the waxing that everything she does is sanitary (no double dipping, changing gloves etc.) After I was done she gave me cookies! I've went to this place because I brought a groupon and did a 60min European facial. Bessy was the esthetician that did my facial. I thought she was great. Asked me if I wanted any water or use the restroom before I start the facial, which every spa place does the same, but it's a nice touch. She tried to upsell me a $25 peel, but wasn't pushy about it (I like that). Also, massaged my neck and arm. Service overall was good. The male receptionist has a low/soothing voice. Thank you to the lovely ladies at Agua for being so generous and helping me fix my broken nail! I had broken my fingernail about half way up the nail bed, and it was getting dangerously close to getting caught on my clothing and potentially getting painfully ripped off. I walked in hoping it was a normal nail salon but found that this place is actually an appointment only massage and spa salon with private rooms in the back. Bessy the owner however was so kind as to fit me in and get my nail fixed with a hard gel manicure on the nail to keep it from further breaking and being exposed :) my manicurist was so kind as to match the other hand so the different colors looked intentional. I wish I could rate this higher because the procedure was great. Let me explain why I am displeased. I bought a Brazilian wax Groupon (2 waxes). I called to schedule the first appointment and didn't get through so I left a voicemail. My message was returned but I was at work and could not answer. I tried calling again and couldn't reach a person. I figured that playing phone tag wasn't productive so I just went in to book the appointment. It was inconvenient, but I figured, "I couldn't answer when she tried to return my call, so I'll just do this." The service was great. The technician initially dimmed the lights, then gave me a mask to wear while she worked so the light wasn't too bright, and played soothing music. A very zen experience for what is not a very delightful procedure. Now I am trying to book again. I called on Tuesday trying to set up an appointment for the weekend. No call back. I emailed the two email addresses on the website on Thursday trying to set up the appointment. No response. I called again on Saturday, wasn't able to get through, and left another message. You should not have to go in to a business just to book an appointment that isn't going to be available for a few days. There are never any day-of appointments available. read more

When we walked in we were greated nicely and asked if we wanted any beverages while we wait for our room to be ready . After the massage they had champagne and strawberries ready for us . What a wonderful ambience to come get a manicure. At arrival I was greeted with a smile. The service technician was wonderful and professional. All tools used where clean and were not used by anyone else before. They use single use buffers for my nails and were disposed of once she was done. I came here for a mani and Bessie did a great job. The ambiance in the place is great! You're definitely not in San Gabriel when you step in. They immediately offered me tea. The place was unusually cold, the front receptionist said that their heater was not working. They took me to the back where Bessie could to my nails. The only comment is the lighting is dim, so to really see the full color of your nail polish would be at the end. My color looked more purple in the sunlight than when she started painting them and it took a while for me to get used to. She offered to redo a nail because she didn't like how it looked and said that if my nail gets messed up during the day, to call back and they would redo it. This of course, would have to happen within 24 hours. The products she used were amazing! Really great stuff that I've never really gotten at other nail places. Bessie took her time and gave me her full attention! I was definitely not rushed out of there! Make sure you give yourself a full hour, if not more. And she offered champagne, but it was the middle of the day for me. Also, I called to make my appointment. The receptionist said she would call me back in 10 minutes to confirm, but never did. I've been coming here for about 2 years now and have only gotten massages. Bessy has been my main therapist here. I'm very picky about my massages and I have to say that Bessy is very good. She knows the right pressure points and how to relieve tension in common areas. A lot of massages I've had are good while the therapist is massaging you, however with Bessy, my muscles are still pretty relaxed a couple days after my treatment. I purchased two mani/pedi vouchers (one deluxe and one spa)through Groupon hoping to spend some mother/daughter time and giving my 13 year old a treat before her school Grad dance. I checked Agua De Vida's website and read the description of the services to be provided and no where did it state that we would each be in separate rooms with us wearing a robe, laying down on your back on a massage type table, with the lights dimmed to do a manicure and a pedicure. Obviously, my 13 year old did not feel "comfortable" doing this in a separate room alone. I asked if they could do my daughters mani/pedi outside in the general area out front (they had mani tables set up) because she did not feel comfortable in a room alone. The owner said no she could not do that because they would have to move all their equipment out of the room and that was not feasible. I asked if they could just do a mani and she stated they could but she would have to wait..... I had my daughter wait in the waiting area while I had my deluxe mani/pedi and I have to say it was the most awkward and unrelaxing experience of my life. You get a neck/upper shoulder massage but it was very unappealing with the massage therapist trying to work on knots in your neck by pulling on the collar of the robe I had on. I have had other massages and this is not the way to go so unprofessional. Then the owner comes in and starts on my pedicure by having me get up and sit on an ottoman with my feet in a tub of warm water....then they have me get back on the bed and lay down again while I bend my knees and she works on shaping my toe nails and polishing, etc... During this time the owner is justifying her refusal to accomodate us by saying that my daughter is just not used to gettting "Spa Mani/Pedi" and that this is not for everyone and how they do things differently. Yes, I have to agree with that comment because I have never had a Spa Mani/Pedi laying flat on my back. I have had mani/pedi where they call them "Spa" but they are in the fancy spa type chairs that massage and heat the chair while they work on your toes and nails. I informed the owner that I felt her ad and website were misleading and I also notice on Yelp they have pictures published of Spa type chairs and they no longer have any of those at this spa. The owner finally did offer to not redeem my daughter 's voucher for her mani/pedi but stated I would have to call Groupon to get a refund and that I could get one. I called Groupon and they would not refund my money after I explained what happened. They indicate that you only have two days from the time you buy the voucher to get a refund. So if anyone purchases this and schedules an appointment for a week later and shows up and has this happen to them there is no way to get your money back. I found this spa about a year ago because of a Groupon I had purchased. I had severe acne at the time and it was a last resort before considering Accutane. Bessy did such an amazing job, that I decided to become a member. My skin has cleared up dramatically because of my regular acne facials with Bessy. She also went as far as talking to me about my diet and stress levels and how they affect the the skin. I also remember calling her on a couple of occasions regarding my appointments and, before hanging up, she asked how my skin was doing. It's little touches like that I feel set her apart from other spas I've been to. The spa itself is incredibly clean and instantly relaxing. I would compare the room I get my facials done in to some of the more expensive and larger spas I've been to. I always come out feeling rejuvenated and with a hot cup of tea waiting for me (I like my tea after my session and Bessy and/or the receptionist never forget to ask what kind I want). I am so glad I found Agua De Vida and that I became a member. I normally don't splurge on myself, but it was much more economical and the smartest thing to do for my skin. In a few weeks I'll be taking advantage of the complimentary massage that comes with the membership, so I am looking forward to that. I would like to give -4 stars for customer service and professionalism. The woman answering the phone, making the appointments, whether the owner or employee, is VERY rude and condescending. She never made my appointment and then proceeded to debate with me and state, numerous times, "Everyone makes mistakes in this world." She then stated "You should treat people with kindness is this world."! - I was being kind, I was only upset I waited over one week for an appointment that was never made. I was not yelling, cursing, or making snide remarks! She acted like a hippie lunatic, in my opinion. She could, or should have, instead apologized and made the correction, this is how proper costumer service mistakes are usually handled. It is unfortunate the decline in customer service these days, especially in such a socially driven world. With that said, this spa passed the test with flying colors. My SO gets her skin treatments here by the owner, Bessy. She has always told me what a wonderful place this is, but I didn't really buy into it until she got us a couple's massage package for Valentine's Day. In short, after the wonderful Swedish massage, herbal tea, and dessert wine with luxurious chocolates, I am a FIRM believer. So very disappointed in this place. My Husband purchased the Groupon for me for Valentines Day. I called to make an appointment the night before. The person who answered asked me to come in at 9am on Sat. A little early for me on my day off but was excited to get the treatment. They asked that I forward the Groupon by email. So I did. Also they sent me an email with the policies of the spa. I was to agree and return the email, which I thought was much for a Mani/Pedi but I did that as well. Their policy said I would need to be there 30 min early which meant 8:30a. I arrived at 8:25, door locked store closed. I waited in my car for 15 min. As it was raining out. I Called 4 times and finally someone answered. They finally opened. The young Russian woman who was assigned to do my nails I found out has only done nails for 4 months. She did my manicure and pedicure which took two hours and all my nails had bubbles. I called back to complain and they asked that I come in and they would redo my nails. I did and I got the same exact result again. Now I've wasted at least 3 hrs of my day here. I was not relaxed and I was not satisfied. They asked a lot of me and did not reciprocate. I purchased a couple's massage through Groupon and I was very satisfied with my purchase. It is a "mom and pop" kind of spa with flare and a unique sense of relaxation. The employees are all courteous and have great hospitality. The massage itself was great and I would certainly come back. As a matter of fact, I have a pedicure scheduled and am looking forward to my appointment. The ladies who work here are just lovely! I read some of the reviews on this place and I couldn't believe some of the comments. My experience was nothing like those 1-star reviews. I do feel that if you can't be on time for your appointment or you cancel, the business should institute some type of policy to detour this type inconsiderate behavior. I don't understand why people think just because they are paying for a service that it is ok to waste the time of the business or its employees. If the appointment before me was late, you better believe that if I was on time, I am not going to let your rude tardiness go into my massage time. I purchased a facial on Groupon and was not impressed by their services. Initially Bessy was welcoming, but when it was time for the actual facial she kept commenting on how clogged my pores were. She advised me to change my make up and cleanser brand. She also tried to sell me on additional services, when I declined was no longer very welcoming. Instead of walking out relaxed and pampered, I felt stressed out and frustrated. Overall the facility is decent, but extremely dark. Website claim the facial is $95 at regular price, to me this is a $50 facial ( which is what I paid). The overall quality of the facial is good, but there service and people skills need work. I came here a few weeks ago using a Groupon for a couple's massage. The customer service leading up to the massage itself was great. They were running a little behind, and gave us notice and complimentary mimosas. I understand that sometimes things run off schedule and I appreciated the gesture. My experience was great until the massage therapist came in and asked us that if we wanted more "pressure" to our massage. She then advised that we would have to pay an additional fee of approximately $30 for this additional pressure. As I was laying on the massage table, two thoughts immediately came up: 1) How do I know if I need more pressure if you haven't even started? What is the standard pressure?; 2) This is such a scam! If I ask for any adjustment to the massage, she will likely charge me an additional fee. Charging someone who wants more "pressure" in their massage will obviously give the massage therapist an incentive to just rub oil on your back so that you will have to ask for more pressure. And that is exactly what happened here! My massage basically consisted of the therapist rubbing oil on my back. It was terrible. She never once asked me about my comfort level or whether or not I needed an adjustment to her massage. Even if she did, I would be hesitant to ask for more pressure as I would likely be charged for it. TL;DR: The policies at this place is a scam. AVOID THIS PLACE! This is the 626 - there are a ton of other massage places in this area that do not scam their customers with unreasonable policies. Try somewhere else. read more

NOT coming back here to get my nails done. My friend and I bought groupons for a mani-pedi here. We had quite a bit of trouble booking our appointments, but finally got the day and time we requested. The mani-pedi included a wonderful leg and arm massage and exfoliation. Those things alone made the $35 worthwhile. However, our two mani-pedis took nearly three hours. Also, the water they had me soak my feet in was ice cold. I even said that when someone was in the room and she didn't acknowledge or do anything about it. The color selection is limited and the job they did actually painting my nails wasn't great. They did not put a base coat or a top coat on with the polish. For a three hour mani-pedi, the actual polish job should be better. Now I'm not too optimistic that this mani pedi is gonna make it to my event later this week! read more

I came here for a facial and was serviced by Crystal and I was very disappointed. I had facials before at a few places and I must say this is the worst I ever had. Considering the location and the price($75.00), the facial does not measure up to the standard. Normally I get at least two masks but here I got one. I was fine with getting one mask treatment but the service I bought was European facials but she didn't bother to do any extractions, even a light one. My guess was that I didn't have lots of breakouts and extraction may not be necessary. However, I have black heads and I didn't put that on the information form they asked me to fill in before the facials. She even didn't use the steamer before the facial to moiture my skin ( the steam is supposed to help to open the pore for a better cleansing) even it was just right there next to me. She scrubed my face at least 2 times and didn't even ask if it hurt me and it did a bit. I am normally not a complainer so I let her do her thing especially when that was my first time here, I didn't want to say much but wanted to see how they would do normally. After cleansing my skin,she gave me a mask for a dry skin with the reason that it was winter time and a mask for dry skin would be good for me. I have no problem with it as long as I have a certain kinda of mask to help me with my easily breakout combination skin. In other places, I got two kinda masks most of the time, one for acne treatment( that's what European facial is for, right?) and one for moisturizing. I left the place feeling that my face never getting any cleaned and didn't feel great. I had a facial before and I always left with a soft and clean skin that I can feel it with a light touch. About the neck and arm massage it was just a touch , not even close to a rub. I felt like she was just putting some oil/cream onto my neck and arm. I even didn't get a head massage. Of course these came as extra but most of the place I went gave me really good massages for my neck and head. And I don't recall that she gave me a good massage on my face but a rough scrubs with the sponge. I gave the place 1 star for their front service with desert wine and nice place. My friend came with me and didn't enjoy her Sweedish massage either although the manager was nice enough to give us a discount if we come back again. Still, I don't think I would come back. A full facial massage at this place costs $75.00 and I don't think the service measures up to that price. I and my friend thought we found a good local place close to us for a regular body and facial massage but all we got is disappointment. I've been trying to make an appointment for over 2 years for a Groupon deal I got. Left numerous voicemails no return calls. Only twice was I able to talk to the owner, Betsy who told she can't accommodate the dates and times I requested. Basically I lost $99 on the Groupon deal because this business can't seem to have any appointments available. August 8, 2017 I just got a response to my review by the owner Betsy whom I've had left her numerous messages to return my calls to set up an appointment. This place has no live person answering calls. The phone rings and rings until it does to voicemail. And it took the owner over 7 months to respond to my review. read more

The receptionist and the the esthetician both took forever to get started while alarming its customer about the shortened treatment. Let it be 10 minutes or 15 minutes lateness, it's not 40 minutes as they claimed, nor was it rescheduled based on lateness. Their business practice is questionable. This is place is a f...... Joke!!!! I scheduled an appointment via phone set for today 7/23/16 sat 11am spoke with a gal named bessy. I don't remember her saying that I have to confirm via email. All the while I thought I already scheduled the appointment on the phone with her. So I called today 20minutes prior to my scheduled time to verify if I can come a little earlier than my scheduled time and the gal bessy asked me that they would not be able to give me service because I didn't confirm via email. This spa is amazing!!! I've been planning a wedding and was super stressed out before coming here for a couples massage with my fiancé, I left feeling like butter. Bessy, the owner was so thoughtful and caring offered me water in a cute wine glass used essential oils sandalwood and ginger, and rubbed a delicious smelling lotion on me at the end I think it was passion fruit mango. My fiancé and I had such a wonderful time at the spa we left feeling so relaxed and happy. Did I mention the delicious big cup of tea we were made at the end? It was bomb. I hate leaving spas feeling oily and sticky but my skin felt so great that I made it through all my errands for the day feeling like a million bucks! read more

This review is in regards to their customer service/appointment system. I received a few gift cards as a gift from work, and called on Monday to check availability. They didn't answer, I believe they are closed on that day. No biggie, I left a message and waited for a call back. Come Tuesday, no call, so I call back. I let them know what I'm looking for and she proceeds to book me. They have two locations, one in San Gabriel, one in Pasadena. The woman who I was speaking to automatically made the app for the Pasadena location, which I found annoying; I would think before looking for availability you would ask the customer first what location they are interested in. After finally booking for 10 am on Thursday, she instructed me to wait for an email confirmation and send her pictures of two of my gift cards. I wait for about 6 hours for the email never got it. I call back the same day, to check if they had my info down correct and she stated that I would receive it later that night (she was busy with clients). Ok, sounds fair. Well, suffice it to say I never got that email, never got a call, nothing. Luckily, the gift cards are reedemable at different spas, so I won't be losing out. Looking at other people who have gone through the same scheduling issues, I wouldn't reccommend this place. read more
