The food is bad and portions are laughably small for the price. I've never been given such a small amount (especially since i order tofu, not fish) I had about a tablespoon of tofu in my two scoop bowl. Overwhelming amount of sauce in my bowl, tasted like nasty soup. The miso soup was basically brown water with raw onion- the tofu in said soup was not the right tofu for miso soup. You can add white or brown rice to your salad, raw fish, cooked shrimp, or octopus. You then pick a dressing and finally select from a variety of toppings. I usually get the regular size, half mixed greens, half brown rice, with kimchi shrimp and octopus, and the kimchi dressing, then toppings of my choice. If I could afford to have this for lunch every day, I would! Portions are huge and it's always been fresh when I have had it. The flavors are delicious (tuna, salmon, tuna luau and spicy tuna) but I haven't tried all of the fish/sauce options. Half salad/half rice is definitely the way to go and I think their avocado is very generous for the price. My first time here and I would come back. I ordered to go, two scoops (salmon and tuna) with half and half (brown rice and salad) with all the toppings. You definitely get more rice and salad if you order to go. That's a HUGE portion. The regular, which is two scoops, is $8.95 and I added avocado for an extra dollar. I got the house spicy sauce which was delicious. There were a couple aspects of the place that made the overall experience four stars instead of 5. First, the scoops contain four or five 1-1.5" cubes of fish. TINY. So I would recommend getting the large for an extra two dollars. I think all the fillers stay the same portion. I can't imagine my to-go box being any more full. Second, you order chipotle or subway style, as you go down the row. It is nearly impossible to hear one another. I don't know if it's the acoustics but I literally read one woman's lips because after three tries I still couldn't hear her. And the next lady in charge of my sauce options gave me the wrong sauce, likely because she also couldn't hear me. (Still delicious). As long as you're not expecting a poke bowl a la Hawaii (i.e. All fish) and can shout, and MAYBE stand getting the wrong things in your bowl, this place is fantastic. A lot of reviews mention being surprised by up charges for yellowtail and avocado- that is now well marked on the menu board. The rest rest of the toppings were great, especially the roasted seaweed and the ginger. My husband got the same base, spicy sauce, 2 scoops of spicy tuna, which is minced instead of cubed. He got all the toppings, which he said ended up being too much flavors mixed together. However, he agreed that quality was all really good. We look forward to going back. I've been to a lot of poke places in town and this one was by far the most disappointing. THE SERVICE: The assembly line order was a bit strange. There were two customers in line behind me. The employee made all of our bases first, then did our protein and toppings one at a time. Being first in line, my bowl was finished first. He put it next to the cash register and asked me to wait so he could ring me up. Then he went back to finish making the other two bowls. I stood there looking at my finished food waiting to pay for another few minutes. I fully acknowledge this is a first world problem but there's got to be a better way, especially if the other employee working at the same time is sweeping the restaurant (no other customers were sitting down at the time, it was empty besides the 3 of us in line). THE FOOD: The portions were super small. They charge extra for several toppings such as avocado (which is fine as most places do) but also masago (a little scoop, looks like the equivalent of a tablespoon), surimi (imitation crab meat), AND the seaweed salad? I left still feeling hungry. No complaints about the quality of the fish however, so that saved this review from being a total disaster. IN CONCLUSION: If you want serious poke bowl value for your money I'd suggest going to Koi Poke (huge portions, more topping variety and they only charge extra for avocado and lobster tail) or Pokeworks.
