We live in Kakaako. BE AWARE!! Air Masters replaced our split AC 4-unit system with Fujitsu. After installation and over ensuing months, we noticed the main living room unit blowing less and less cool air after spending nearly $12k for the replacing the entire system. Other bedroom units were cooling fine. While initially cool air was coming from the main unit, it was gradually declining. Under their guidance, we got their annual maintenace service on this main unit. During this service, I informed the tech person of the inconsistent cool air and to check for possible freon shortage. He replied no need, that the freon level was fine, though I didn't see him check or use anything to conclude this way. While it did improve initially after the service (basically a pro cleaning), it gradually blew less cool air and eventually only warm room temperature air. I called again, this time requesting the original lead installer of the system to come diagnose/repair it. After about 3 hours of diagnosis and work, he concluded that this main unit lost a lot of freon (which he replaced), most likely due to fittings not being seated and tightened properly at the original installation, which would lead to freon leakage. Despite this assessment, he billed us $912!! We were outraged and he told us sorry, that he would talk to Kelly at the office about it and for us to call her (Kelly) to plead our case. We tried reaching her, left messages, but no return calls. I find it absolutely horrible that a business would take advantage of their customers this way. Basically, it was their installation mistake that gave us the freon leakage issue, yet we had to pay. No discount whatsoever was given for something that was their fault not ours. Estimator came on time. Was courteous and did estimate quickly. But, for a 350 sq ft room he said I needed an 18000 + btu split unit. I am old but not senile. They put in 2 other units in past for me. That was way overkill. If u call them google what is recommended for your room size. Don't take their info. Felt like I was being played. This is a long review if you even care to read all of it for a 5 Star Review -- or just stop here! A shout out to estimator Christian of Air Masters -- an honest family run business -- for his patience & professionalism in our dilemma of how, where & what mini split system to install??? We ended up with not one but two units and we are extremely pleased. Started out with just one 12K BTU unit on a living room wall. Recommended to switch to 18K BTU on another wall & it ended up reaching our TV/Craft room area as a bonus in a semi-open floor plan. Originally didn't want to run the piping thru the back wall and our bedroom closet. We told him the living room wall w/covered exterior line was fine but now we are very glad we put it behind through our bedroom closet wall as it is much more aesthetically pleasing even if it meant clearing out our stuffed closets & all of our clothes. So we then decided to add a 2nd unit in the bedroom as well running the lines through that same closet. We had no idea what we really wanted & in the end it turned out to be perfect! Christian was extremely patient dealing with us. We were perplexed because we did not have time to do the research to get specs for our usual 3 bids as 30% Federal Tax Credits were ending on Dec. 31st. Since Yelp reviews were positive & Air Masters is a Hawai'i Energy partner we felt very comfortable using them without additional quotes. Honestly, everything turned out beyond our expectations & the final design turned out to be exactly what it should have been -- and we started out without a clue! A big Mahalo to installers Rex & Duke and be sure to ask them to advise you how to Rat Proof your exterior insulation & wiring to protect it as the new eco-friendly soy based insulation appeals to rats as a food source (vs. petroleum based insulation). I've read of rats in Hawaii chewing right through to the split A/C system wiring and then you will be needing to call an electrician! If it's not geckos frying your condenser circuit boards then you gotta watch out for the rats chewing your wiring! LAST but NOT LEAST the standard brackets for electrical conduits used is galvanized steel. We had an extra long 60' wiring run and live in an area that rains almost nightly that galvanized steel brackets here will rust out in 3 years!!! We were more than willing to pay extra for materials & labor to switch galvanized steel brackets to stainless steel w/stainless steel nails! Well that's all folks! Kevin, Kim and Jesse did a great job today replacing four broken AC units. They arrived on time, worked diligently and cleaned up thoroughly when done. At one point during the job, I offered Kim the use of a fan since it was hot in the house. He refused because he didn't want dust blowing around, so considerate. Marion also did a great job behind the scenes getting us estimates, the paperwork and getting us promptly scheduled. Their prices are fair and their process is straight forward. As part of our annual Spring Cleaning, we've been having Air Masters service our split air systems. We've used Air Masters at our former home with its Mitsubishi split air conditioning units but now, we have Fujitsu split air conditioners. Whenever we've called to schedule an appointment, the office/call manager, Princess, has been very engaging and flexible with putting us on their calendar. Usually, because we call for annual service, we plan to have the cleaning and maintenance done within 2-3 weeks. This time, we requested an appointment for 2 weeks from our call. On our appointment day, service was scheduled between 8:00-8:30am. Around 8:05am, we received a call from the service technician (Dominic) who informed us that he was on his way and gave us an ETA. As with all previous appointments, the Air Masters technicians have always called to inform us of their arrival status. FANTASTIC! Dominic laid out tarps on our floor and on the walls before disassembling each (we have 4) of our air conditioner units. He cleaned the coils, took the exterior body out to hand wash and flushed the condensate drainage with a chlorine solution and then nitrogen. He did first mention the excellent condition of our air conditioning units and acknowledged the concerns about the possible formation of mold and mildew. We were pleased to see him perform this very thorough cleaning process and professional manners. The entire PREMIUM cleaning and maintenance took about 5 hours so if you're planning on having the service done, Princess or another technician will provide a quote for time and cost. Apparently, you can request for a quote online but we just find it faster and more personal to call. We would not hesitate to have Air Masters, especially Dominic, to return next year and beyond! We're breathing cleaner, filtered air which not only helps to maintain our health but the controlled air temperature helps to preserve our furniture and artwork in our condominium unit. read more

I called 3 companies to get an estimate. 1 company never called back. The second company gave a verbal estimate. I asked for it in writing and never received a response. Air Masters estimate was lower by 15%. Left message to get an estimate from Air Masters. Got a call back at the end of workday. Rex did the estimate and was very knowledgeable. We had a mildew smell that was addressed but not fixed by 3 other AC companies. Rex and crew's installation was extremely neat. They even removed parts of our system that should have been removed by the previous company. The mildew smell is finally gone. Air Masters replaced a 18 year old Frederich split system with a new Mitsubishi unit. They were able to use the same conduits and piping but had to cut out a section of the drywall to re-route the new system lines. Yelp's first question, "did they provide good value for their service?" I would have to say, "No." I 'm disappointed that they bill like plumbers. What I mean by that is, they will make money from you! They charge $120. for the first half hour of service, and then for each hour after that or fraction of. So you will be charged a minimum of $240. with them rescheduling for a larger estimated repair. If your AC needs parts, leaks, or just doesn't have a minor issue. So nothing is repaired and you're out $240. Yelp's second question, "did they respond quickly?" I replied yes, but they came within a few weeks, but a lot of AC service are the same. Yelp's third question, "were they reliable?" I know they used to be, but I don't have enough current experience with them in this area to answer this. read more

As you can imagine, central AC can get very expensive when it comes to installing in your condo. Their quote was the cheapest, and because I know from the past experience, how good they are, it was a brainer. I called that company that installed it and they told me that I needed to replace it because it was past their warranty. So I reached out to Air Masters and they did the research and found out that I still had the manufacturer warranty and they were able to REPAIR it not REPLACE it. I was so satisfied with their service that I called them back to check out my split AC unit at my home because it wasn't getting cold. This was a split-unit replacement. Initially they came out and handed me a fixed quote, all inclusive. The 2 techs went to work right away. I showed them the locations and they were self-sufficient. Laid down blankets to protect furniture and catch dust inside. They simultaneously installed the inside and outside units, removing and taking away the old units. They were very careful & precise attaching the inside unit to the wall to make sure exactly level. They were done in about 3 hours, working diligently. After they checked it out, they explained to me how to use it, the features on the remote and showed me it was working. Better and less expensive than a previous company I used to replace the downstairs unit. Very easy to deal with. read more

Air Masters Inc. replaced the entire split air system in my condo yesterday. The installers showed up on time & were so patient with the condo parking SNAFU. They were polite, professional, got the job done in a timely manner but didn't rush, took off their shoes, knew what they were doing, made sure everything was working and tested it properly, cleaned up, spackled the small wall defect (the new split air units are smaller than they used to be), accepted a credit card for payment so I was able to get miles, & they even set the time on the remotes for me! They said it was within 48 hours so I needed to pay a cancellation fee, which is almost half of what the service would cost!! Screw Air Masters.
