I originally purchased my Fujitsu split systems from Air Masters over 10 years ago. I called them in 04/2019 and scheduled to have my system serviced. I found out later via the grapevine that the majority of the company's personnel had left and that the current employees might not have the experience or training to support their job descriptions. ~$750 later, the service technician determined that one of my units needed to be replaced and the second contained a leak that required additional visits to determine the source(s) of the leak. He did service a third unit and replaced a fan louver motor. When I spoke to another company about the bill, they gave me the impression that the cost may have been excessive and shouldn't have taken long to complete. I also later found that the interior wall below the unit that had been serviced, contained numerous scratches where the technician had rested the AC unit housing against it while it was being serviced. I subsequently decided to replace 2 of the systems with more expensive Mitsubishi systems. The Air Masters technician told me that he would talk to the salesperson and give him all the details for the quote. This also included his recommended BTU settings for each zone of the multi zone unit. I exchanged e-mails with their sales person on providing me with a quote after he conducted an on-site inspection. I requested a quote again via e-mail when the servicing of the units was completed. On a side note, the salesperson originally confirmed that I could utilize the Hawaii Energy Rebate for the servicing/tune-up and on the purchase of new systems. The technician told me that the servicing of my third unit did not qualify for the rebate. My AC systems were inspected by sales in mid-04/2019 and serviced in early 05/2019. As of 06/20/19, no quotes or follow-up calls from Air Masters have been received. I am also surprised that there was no offer to partially or fully deduct the cost of troubleshooting/repair if I purchased replacement units from them. I have since purchased new units for my residence and serviced multiple units at another home. All of this business was done with another company. My recommendation is NOT to do business with this company. The feedback I received from the grapevine seems to be accurate that this company does not have the expertise to properly care for customers and satisfy their AC needs. The quote I secured from an alternate company was provided within 24 hours of their site walk. I plan to do business and schedule additive maintenance work with this alternate company, which will also include installing new AC systems at other homes. Sorry Air Masters, I gave you an opportunity to earn my business, but you are not the same company I dealt with originally and I had no option other than to work with another company that appreciates my business and provides me with exceptional service. read more

Initially, I had some concerns on the workmanship of the installation, but after speaking to Sherwin about them, he did his best to quickly resolve these issues. One of our ac units started leaking water and this was not a great time to start pooping out as it is so darn hot this summer. We got recommended by our management to contact this ac company that our building works with. Two cons but a lot of pros to go with this company. The two cons was that we submitted a form on their website but did not get a call back. The other con is that you will need to schedule well in advance as they are really booked up. However there were a lot of pros. Because we did not hear back from them, I decided to call and they were very friendly. I was able to schedule for a tech to repair our unit. When the tech arrived he was very friendly, honest, and valued my concerns and helped me better understand on how to keep my ac units running smoothly and avoid future problems. In addition, the tech that stop by my place was very fast. Some notes to consider: (1) they asked for a credit card to secure an appointment, (2) for repairs they charge $120 for the first 30 min and $120 each hour after, (3) they do offer rebates depending on service, and (4) clear the area where the ac units are as it helps them to work quickly and a lot of dust and stuff comes out of unit. Your worst nightmare is having your AC stop working during the heat of summer. Even worse is when it happens on the weekend when most companies are closed. This happened to me this past Saturday. I managed to get through a blistering weekend with a portable unit which made tremendous noise and barely cooled the living room. On Monday I called Air Masters, the contractor that installed my central AC system during a total home renovation 2 years ago. To my despair, they were short a mechanic and the first available date was in 2 weeks. I booked it but asked Kellie, pleaded really, to keep me in mind if they got a cancellation. I was desperate because I have a older Siberian Husky dog that would certainly perish in the heat. To my surprise, Kellie called me back in two hours and said she had a technician she could send in 15 -20 minutes. I arranged for someone to meet him and in about an hour he had corrected the issue and serviced the entire unit. I am giving Air Masters 5 well deserved stars for their installation and excellent service. I was very happy with the installation. The owner Sherman, was fantastic in getting me special commercial grade ceiling vents. His advice on how to position the vents were valuable and his knowledge of the choices were excellent. His team was spot on on the installation and they even moved my ductless system from my home to a rental during the renovation. And now with todays experience with Kellie, I am a "cool" happy camper. I imagine they get a lot of demanding customers. In todays world, everyone wants instant gratification. I imagine in their industry it is impossible to satisfy every customers demands. Had a stupid gecko climb into my outside unit and short out everything. Second time this happened to me... First time was in a previous house. Called air Masters (who was also the original installers) and was able to get an appt several days later. Dude called me asking to come earlier and got right to work. Gecko ended up causing more damage than expected, so dude had to come back "later" with additional parts. "Later" ended up being the next day and he ended up working even longer. Excellent installation that has lasted. We've had our system for 13 years, a full central unit plus 2 split systems for night use. They are all still running full force which we're amazed. Normal life is usually around 10 years. We've had additional vents added and still going strong. The only thing we've had to change was the thermostat since they don't last as long and one remote control for the split, which Air Master's took care of. If you need to install split air conditioning....call Air Masters. Keith came out and checked out my place after normal hours to see my layout and recommend what size system I'd need. This was great because of the hours I work a regular daytime visit wasn't possible. He worked with my HOA (who was a pain) and helped get the process approved. The team that came out to do my install Darryl and Shane were the absolute best. They hauled out my 250lb giant window unit and installed 3 indoor units and 2 outside units to complete my split system. They were fast, courteous and extremely professional. It was obvious they put in the time and effort to do things the right way and they took pride in what they did. They handled a few curveballs that got tossed at them and didn't blink. (they didn't know they had to haul out my old window unit or that they needed to paint some of the gutters to match my outside) But they did it and did it well. I'd recommend them to anyone and everyone that is looking for split air....I've been extremely happy with my Mitsubishi units which are so quiet you don't even notice them and they cool the entire house in a jiffy! When I purchased my home in 1996, the first thing I added was a split air conditions system for the living room. It was a Fujitsu 24. The A/C was purchased from and installed by Air Masters. I met Sherman at that time as he came out to the house to give me the estimate and was there to supervise the install. Last week, after almost exactly 22 years, the ol' girl gave up the ghost. It started making a chirping noise and within a day it just stopped blowing cold. Turns out that my Fujitsu lasted longer than most A/C's are expected to last so I really got my money's worth. Just my luck, I had guests coming soon and needed it done before they arrived. I looked up Air Masters and found they were still in business so I gave them a call. Sherman remembered me and my house and after explaining my situation, he made special accommodations to have his team come and take out the old unit and install the new. His crew was great. They were efficient, clean, and quick. I am looking forward to another 22 years of use from this one. It is much smaller, more efficient, and way nicer looking. And the most surprising thing was that it was about what I paid for the last one, if not a little cheaper. I highly recommend Sherman and the folks at Air Masters. I got the best quote from Air Masters! Enjoyed working with Keith. The guys came in and switched out my old unit with a new Fujitsu 30k BTU. I opted for the higher BTU even though you can get energy efficiency credit for the lower one. I wanted my living area, which is quite large to be cool and comfortable on those hot summer days in Honolulu. It works beautifully, I have no complaints. I got the AOU30RLXB Model, which gives a better warranty than the Mitsubishi, I thought. The installers were mindful of the living area and worked fast and efficiently and cleaned up well. My son burnt something in the microwave and all the smoke got into the split unit. After that, the AC was blowing air that smelled like smoke. Air Masters came and cleaned the indoor unit and checked the outdoor unit to top off the refrigerant. Thanks to them, there's no more smoky smell. I want to start off by saying that the work done to clean my split AC unit was excellent and I was very satisfied with it. However the low stars is for to the fact that I had to call twice, thinking that Air Masters had forgotten about me just to get the initial appointment. Then after cleaning the unit the tech said he had to leave since he was only told about the one unit and not the second one which I had asked for cleaning. That's fine, the tech told me someone would call me to reschedule the other units (now 3 after the tech examined my other AC units and recommended cleaning). Now one week later, no call... I would only recommend Air Masters if you have the time and patience to keep chasing them for appointments, don't expect them to call you back or follow through. read more

The owner Sherman was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I called them to service my Mitsubishi a/c which was installed by the previous home owner. I wanted to replace it and get a new system but Sherman actually advised me to just keep using it as it still was in working order (after he fixed it). I was perplexed as to why he would turn down a job that would probably cost me $12K. That showed me he has integrity and that is very rare these days. He said he will gladly replace it for me at a later date when it finally does need to be replaced. My trust in him and Air Masters was validated. Great service from a top-notch company! We had them install four Split AC units in our Halawa home and we couldn't be more pleased with their work. After our initial call we had a consultant come by the house to discuss details of the work and provide options for the installation, he even wore his star-spangled shirt and shorts combination on July 4th (great sense of humor that guy!) not long after that we were calendared for install and their team came out as scheduled and on time. They were very efficient with their work and made sure to be gentle when moving around in our rooms and attics, even neatly moved our kids' endless toys from their closet to access a tight area where electrical lines would be routed. We discussed pros and cons for line and condenser placement and they were very knowledgeable. They answered all our questions and explained clearly the best ways for us to utilize our new units. They're also very cognizant about the pandemic and came prepared to use masks when necessary. They were also great with our two puppies running around constantly bothering them as they worked. I've been trying to get my system serviced for three weeks now. It is less than 10 months installed and is not working. A technician came to look at the system, could not do anything and told me that's he would get a electrical tech to come. No one has called, I had to initiate it. Then I was told that a part is on order, but it is not, then I was told I had to pay for an electrician to assess the work that the Air Masters installers did. The customer service is terrible, the manager I spoke to is quite inept. I do not recommend this company to anyone looking for an installation. read more

Air Masters has serviced our three split-level AC units and although we know the main service tech, Kevin, from when he worked at Pristine Air and did our AC units at Capitol Place I have to say that dealing with his office and getting call backs and appointments scheduled is a real pain. You leave messages, talk with staff and get promises of a call back and then nothing. You really have to chase these guys to get them and that's the reason for three stars. Should probably be two stars but Kevin is a nice tech. FYI, cleaning your split-level AC will cost $350 per unit but unless you want to breathe black mold it's recommended to do once a year or so if you run your AC a lot. read more

Called them on a Wednesday to see if I could get an estimate appointment. They called me back two days later on a Friday afternoon. I'd forgotten I'd called them for this. Two days to return a phone call is just not good in my book. Then the only appointment they had was for Sunday morning at 700a. Nothing else in the foreseeable future. Wow, business must be great to not have time for potential future business appointments. The sad part is I have 3 split units in my home that were installed by them and was serviced last year by them. Wanted to up it to 5+ units but I guess they just don't have the time. But we recently also used them to relocate our outside compressor unit onto the lanai. It involved some construction to reconfigure the placement. First of all, this service provider is unprofessional, irresponsible, and lacks communication. We asked our central AC to be fixed. My mom specifically asked, "can you fix the AC and check everything?" After the completion of the job, the repairman said, "everything is ok!". A few days later, a water leak from the AC caused our ceiling to puff up and caused a significant monetary damage. Ha! a responsible service provider would hopefully cover some, if not all, the damage because he said, "everything is ok". I called in and was told, "we only took a look at the electrical problem which was causing the AC not to work, and was not specifically told to fix any other parts, so we cant compensate for it" Can we have a professional who take preventive measures to spot problems and if at fault, take responsibilities for lack of its service quality provided to its customers? Customers are calling in because they don't have the skill sets to inspect to spot problems, or repair. If we are asking for the service to have "everything" repaired, please do a proper inspection and repair what needs to be fixed? - the minimal standard of sustainable business BYE! read more

Reading the previous posts of people complaining about service. With the weather getting hotter each year and with demand increasing its no wonder this company is extremely busy. I've used them for 3 units and had relatively no major problems with my units. I have had my ac units for about 10 yrs and when i did have a problem sherman or malcom have been very helpful despite their extremely hectic work schedules. I know it's hot and people get irritated fast when their ac is not working or installed quickly. We all just need to be patient and understand where they are coming from. Their prices are very competitive but with that said they may have to hire more people to keep up with the demand. You just need to find a company you like and trust. Their customer service is truly lacking. I've used them for many years, but my last two experiences were the pits. I recently had them service my split system and when i checked it afterwards, they didn't do a thing to my compressor besides check the pressure. I had a wasps nest on the fins for goodness sake, not to mention the pile of leaves built up in the casing. I had another company service my a/c once and they took the cover off and cleaned everything with a hose and rag. Air Masters compressor cleaning is non-existent. The bigger issue is that i needed something in writing for a VA loan that stated the unit was installed to code and wasn't bolted to the floor which should be no problem since they're both true. I even volunteered to write the letter, all i needed was a signature. The lady i spoke with twice never seemed interested in helping me even though i told her the whole loan was being help up for this piece of paper. It's been over a week now and i still haven't gotten a call back. Extremely poor service for something so simple and important to me. I will never use air masters again. read more
