Their quote came in the lowest and Brandon was extremely helpful on the phone, so I ended up choosing them. - The quote process was great: I submitted their online form, they gave me a call asking for more details, I sent them a few pictures, and they gave me another call with solutions and a quote. The quote also happened to be the cheapest of the 3 companies I got bids from. - The installation went very smoothly. I understand that direct vent water heaters are a little tricky to install, but Brandon installed perfectly. He arrived on time, got rid of our old water heater, and added a new water heater with several fixes: the overflow pipe now runs to the sink, he used a "flex vent" kit so the water heater can sit on the ground, and he put the water heater in a tray to reduce issues from slow leaks since I don't have a basement drain. - After the install, Brandon taught me how to change the temp / turn the water heater off / how to flush it / how to change the anode rod. Very pleased with the work and my new water heater is working flawlessly. The only downside was that there was no permit. I'm no expert on permits. Portland's website says that water heater changes require a permit. Brandon said it's a "gray area" for residential. I am not planning on selling the house and things looked good to me, so I don't mind too much.

Most of them feel it's the thermostat. We are on our 3rd or 4th try of the same thermostat. My husband and one of the technicians said to try a different brand or style. Clearly the one they kept bringing doesn't work with our system. One tech offered to go back and get the other type. Dispatch said NO. It wasn't in the notes. The technician that had been out previously DID put it into the notes, dispatch just didn't include it in the notes to the next team. We reached out to the sales person Steve. He said he was going to make sure we had someone out this weekend (Memorial Day weekend). He even said he talked with the VP and it would be handled. So we changed our weekend plans. My husband missed a Memorial Ceremony honoring my uncle in Eugene. We didn't hear from them. A courtesy call to say they wouldn't be out would have been better than the empty promises we have been given. Years ago we used them. We probably won't in the future. But what do they care. Scheduling was a breeze, setting up the sales visit and the install day was easy and they were prompt for both. The majority of the paperwork was done online, and payment required the first half at the time you set the install appointment, with the second half collected at the end of install. The guys who did the installation were friendly and respectful. They showed me the basics on how to use the system before they left. It's been working great so far, I can't wait to see how it affects my electric bill!
