My home warranty company tried to send an HVAC company with an F rating with the BBB, horrible YELP reviews and a recent lawsuit to my house. Do your homework, don't let just ANY company into your home without doing so. They tried to force me to use this company, I just kept pushing back. Once they finally agreed to put the job out to another company, AIRMAX too the job and I'm glad they did. I checked them out before I agreed to let them do the work. They have an A+ rating with the BBB and good reviews. The woman who called to schedule the appointment was friendly and prompt. Dan was friendly and very professional. He spent a fair amount of time determining what was wrong with the heater. He replaced a part in the unit and installed a new thermostat. Took the time to explain to us what was wrong and how to use the new thermostat. I hope I don't need HVAC help again any time soon, but if I do, I know who I'm using. read more

BEWARE OF AirMax Heating & Cooling - their primary concern is to take your money and NOT fix a problem they were hired to resolve. NEVER HAVE MY WIFE AND II BEEN SO VIOLATED AND TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY A SO CALLED 'SERVICE' PROVIDER. Called Ai Max to fix a Carrier Mini Split issue - their recommendation was to replace the Compressor and/or the Circuit Board They replaced both - charged us $1925 - this DID NOT FIX the problem. Their technician blatantly said they COULD NOT FIX IT AND DID NOT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO After weeks of calls and emails, they said they did what we asked. We hired them to Fix a Mini Split Problem - They did not. They were unable per their own admission. They refused to get back to us following multiple attempts over a few months. We paid them $1925 for absolutely NOTHING and then they cut us off. read more

As I inch closer and closer to 40 years on this planet, I noticed that I require many "lifehacks" in order to achieve a good night(s) of rest. Some of these lifehacks include ensuring that I regulate the amount of liquids that I consume two hours before my bedtime, I have blackout curtains to keep the room as dark as possible, I have a comfortable mattress (please reference my Mattress Firm review if you're looking for a new mattress), plush pillows, and the bedroom is as cool as possible (we like to have it at a chilly 66 degrees). Unfortunately, the latter has been a challenge for us to achieve due to an undiagnosed issue with our air conditioning unit. Previous to receiving services from Airmax Heating and Cooling, our home warranty (First American) contracted with South Placer Heating and Air to remedy the issue. Unfortunately, they did not properly diagnose and resolve the issue (please reference my review if you're interested). Therefore, my wife and I have experienced a few hot, restless summer nights trying to figure out ways to keep our room cool. To make matters worse, on one particular summer night the temperature "cooled down" to a mild 85 degrees. Unfortunately, that meant that the temperature on the second floor was almost a whopping 90 degrees! That particular night was the straw that broke the camel's back (who thinks of these idioms?) and fueled our decision to reach out a second time to our home warranty provider. This time around we specifically requested that South Placer Heating and Air not be contracted for this tasks, and were happy to see that they chose Airmax Heating and Cooling ...which has much better Yelp reviews than South Placer Heating and Air. On the day of the appointment, a friendly serviceman by the name of Dan arrived at our home. We explained the situation and he immediately started working to diagnose the problem(s). After going into the attic and tinkering with the air conditioning unit, he provided us with an update. Our air conditioning unit was low on refrigerant (freon) and needed to be recharged, along with a bad capacitor that needed to be replaced. After fixing both issues, Dan told us that we should expect to see a difference in the AC's performance within the next two hours. Later that evening, my wife and I observed a huge difference in how cool our home was. So cool that it felt like a department store (think Nordstrom) and we had to turn it down because we were freezing. Most importantly, the three of us (wife, son, and I) slept like babies that night (and continue to do so). Also, I have to add that Dan was honest and told us that our air conditioning setup was in overall good condition and that he could tell that some of the parts had been replaced shortly before we bought our home. I mention this because he could have created a grocery list of items that were "in need of replacement" simply to run up the tab for our home warranty provider. As a tip, if you are planning on using your home warranty for HVAC services, I highly recommend that you strongly (heavy emphasis on this word) recommend that they give the job to Airmax Heating and Cooling! read more

I had gone through another company through my home warranty, and it was a terrible experience. We were then switched to air max and I couldn't not have been more impressed! They got us in quickly, the tech was professional, on time, and the scheduler was an absolute blessing and very friendly! Once he got here diagnosed the issue in no time, had the spare part, and fixed it all within a 30 minute period. I will be referring this company in the future! My A/C cannot keep the desired temparature in the house. During the hot day (more than 100 F), the temp in my house moves up to 82 F inside the house regardless whatever temp did I set for my A/C. I called my home insurance and this Airmax company was assigned as service provider. A guy from this company showed up in the morning. He evaluated the A/C unit in the ground and concluded that the unit needs to be replaced. Something is wrong with the coils. He brought the ladder to go to the artic. However, he decided not to climb to the artic by some reasons. He informed me that he is done with his evaluation. Before his leaving, I asked him why my A/C did not work at all. He said that he unplugged it because it has a major issue. I told him that you cannot do that. That day was 108 F and we could not survive without A/C. Normally, the temp in the house reach around 82-83 max during heat wave like that with the help of A/C. He said that it is up to you but your A/C is not working. He went to turn on the A/C (by plugging the unit outside). I don't know what he has done but the temp in my house that day went up to 90 F (upstair) and 87 (downstair). My wife and kids could not sleep and complained me a lot. I believe that he may release some freon during his evaluation or something else. I called the home insurance and asked for the report. In the report, He said that the artic hole in my house is too small so that he cannot enter the artic. The A/C unit in the ground need to be replaced. He requested the home insurance to send another contractor that has small people who can enter the artic to check it out more details. At present, the heat wave is still in my area. My family has to suffer 2 more days. I don't know what to say. That's my story. I don't know what to complain or how to write comments for this company. Terrible company, especially if you are going through fidelity home warranty. Linda makes it seem like you are an inconvenience and interrupts you as your answering the question that she asks. Repair guy shows up and has one foot out the door when he arrives, as if he has an excuse in his back pocket as to not fix anything. Also, before I went through the home warranty company I got a couple of quotes for replacing the a/c unit first. When relaying this information to Linda, she rattled off a price for replacement that was double the price I've been getting quoted for and seemed annoyed that I even called. Put in a request for AC service through my home warranty company Sunday evening, and Linda at Airmax called me first thing Monday morning to schedule (such good customer service). Dan the repairman was here the next day on Tuesday right in the service window. He wore a mask from the moment he walked up to my door which was so nice. He fixed our AC and put in a new thermostat, and even offered us some great tips as this is our first place with central air! Home warranty assigned this company to come and look at our HVAC that has not been working all winter. Took a long time to come out (understandable I guess given that everyone is busy). The technician sort of looked around and told me that the ducting was very old and has deteriorated due to wear and tear and needs replacement. That's what a previous company told me so it was consistent with a technician I called in. However, he reported back to the home warranty company that the heating system has a design flaw! I was shown the report the technician sent in and it was worded expertly to help the home warranty company avoid a payout. So the work is not being covered by the warranty. Obviously they know who pays them and know how to write reports that will lead to rejections. Avoid this dishonest and incompetent company at all costs. read more

The service staff made a special effort to book an immediate appointment due to my Mom's advanced age. The technician, Dan, arrived on time and had the heater working in minutes. My A/C went out. I was pretty sure it was the capacitor, but as always happens, it was during the hottest part of the summer, and we were expecting days of triple digits. It was the worst timing for my a/c to go out, and I called through the home warranty company. Airmax didn't have an appointment initially for almost a week. She said she'd put me on a cancellation/opening list, and miraculously, I got a call a few minutes later that there was a tech really close by who could be at my place in a few minutes. I was referred to them via my home warranty with Fidelity National. My heat went out on 12/10. A service order was placed the same day. I called them directly to schedule an appt and left a vmail. Also called over the weekend and left messages. I did get a text telling me to make an appt. I called on Monday and talked with someone. They told me their 1st available was 12/22. That is a long time without heat. I couldn't do that day, so I was given 12/27. I made an appt and was told that I would be added to a cancellation list for earlier appointments. I could tell she was irritated that I mentioned how long I'd have to wait for service and she reminded me that I was offered 12/22...12 days after my heater stopped working. I elected to call Jaguar Heat and Air. They came out 2 days later and fixed it quickly. I called Airmax back to cancel my appt. I was told that no appointment was on the calendar for 12/27 or 12/22! Terrible! I called my home warranty service and they still listed Airmax as coming out on the 27th. I had to write a review. read more

This company is unmatched! We have worked with a few companies through our home warrenty and I praise God when they refer us to Airmax Hearing & Cooling. No one knows AC units like Dan! On top of being HIGHLY SKILLED, he is a friendly face that you can feel comfortable having around your home. He is extremely knowledgeable and fully explains what is going on and always has the parts to fix it on the spot. In the instance he doesn't have the correct part in his truck, he will drive to his shop, get the part and be back within the hour. Linda is a dream to work with. I have a home warranty policy and our heater was having issues! The end of November I began noticing a plastic/wax smell in my home. I submitted a service request with my warranty company, this was during the long Thanksgiving weekend. The repair company given to attend to the repair was Airmax. I received a call the following business day after the long weekend. I spoke with Linda and she was happy to help get the service call set up and called with a reminder of the appt day and window that I could be expecting the tech to arrive. She was very friendly and extremely helpful. On the day of the appointment, the service tech arrived at my door within the given time frame of when I was to have expected him. His name was DAN, very friendly, knowledgeable and took care of the service in a snap. He answered all my questions, was extremely professional as well-not that I'd expect any less. With time being so valuable, I sincerely appreciate a competent company who provides excellent service and who's truly looking out for the customers best financial interest. Dan came to the rescue! My A/C went out and my home warranty sent another contractor out who spent about 15 minutes on the roof and said it needed "a little Freon". After about 2 hours, it stopped working again. I called my warranty company and requested another contractor. They sent me Airmax. Dan came in, listened to my concerns and proceeded to investigate. He found a bad motor and a bad relay switch. He got the unit up and running, explained a lot to me and was courteous, professional and informative. Our heat and a/c stopped working at the end of April. I contacted the regular company we have had a service contract with (Aire Serv). I left several phone messages and an email and never got a response. I called Bel Brothers, and during their diagnostic they said we had major problems and may need to replace the unit. At that point, I called my home warranty company and thus we got the referral to AirMax. We had to wait over three weeks for an appointment, but it was worth it. Dan found a leak in the tubing and fixed it in about an hour. Not only was he efficient, but he also gave me good information about how the system works and the HVAC industry in general. I tried to call over 15 times and couldn't get a hold of anyone. Finally I got a hold of Linda in the front office and she is a rude person who insisted I never had a appointment. She hung up on me twice and then when I got mad she refused to even schedule a new appointment. She is a nasty person and the customer service is the worst I have ever seen. My A/C conked out last week. Fortunately, it was after the most recent heat wave. I did see that another 4-day stretch of 100+ degree weather was coming the following week so I wanted to get it fixed ASAP. Set up a request for through my Home Warranty and was assigned Airmax Heating & Cooling. Soon as I got the confirmation email from the HW, I looked up the company on Yelp and was a little concerned after reading some of the reviews. I got a call the day after the assignment and I forgot the lady's name who called me but she sounded nice to me and asked about the issue I was experiencing. She told me that since the weather had been hot lately, they've been really busy, and they couldn't fit me in until the following week. Luckily, the heat was supposed to come back until after the appointment, so I nervously waited until the appointment day. To my surprise (and relief), the technician came about 5 minutes earlier than the stated time. I didn't get his name but he got to work right away and about 10 minutes later told me that he thinks he found the problem and fixed it right away. We tested it and I could immediately feel the difference between before and after he fixed something in the condenser. He was really patient in answering the questions I had and he even spent a few more minutes climbing up on a ladder to make sure all the vents were open and weren't obstructed. Not sure why they're getting bad reviews, but Airmax Heating & Cooling gets an A+ in my book! read more

My HVAC unit went completely out on 3/26/23. I called my home warranty company which is Old Republic which is a joke as well. The technician came out to diagnose the issue, he seemed unsure of what he needed to do, I asked him how long he's been doing this sort of work and he replied since 1992. He eventually said I had a bad compressor, I noticed he was gathering all of his equipment, so I asked him if he would be coming back tomorrow and he replied no it would take 5-7 days at least to get a new compressor and it would take 3-4 hours minimum to replace it, i said well i didn't know if you had this particular part in stock, he replied i would have to drive around in a 18 wheeler flat bed truck. So I asked him what's the plan and he told me that i had to call the home warranty company and tell them what was going on, he was supposed to write the report up and send it in. I came in my house and i immediately called the warranty company, who in return told me that they didn't know what was going on so they called the company and the technician told them he didn't know what was wrong. I called back to the home warranty company and they said they would be sending another company out and they did. The 2nd company told the warranty company that they needed to cut ties off with that company Air Max. Sorry service all the way around, be very leary of this company, terrible service and you send a technician out that has over 30 years of experience and he can't figure anything out. Please don't use this company or Old Republic Home Warranty both should be rated a zero or less!! read more

I cannot say enough good things about this company!! We were assigned to AirMax through our home warranty company after the previous company they had called out ended up being completely incompetent. Dan, the AirMax tech, immediately figured out what the real problem with our AC was. It was a MAJOR fix and, when they heard that we had already been without AC for 5 weeks, they moved us to top priority and CAME BACK IN LESS THAN A WEEK AND ON A SUNDAY!! Dan is extremely knowledgeable and honest and Linda in the office is just terrific- super organized and highly customer oriented! We have dealt with our fair share of AC repair techs in the past, and Dan was the first technician I've ever met who actually understands how systems work and how to troubleshoot.
