And to my complete surprise.... the unit turned on and cools like it has for 40 years... Yes... original AC unit. Come on now???? Why did you lead me and the home owner to a NEW unit for $15K-$17K???? When you should have known to try the new fuse. You bragged to me about how many years you have worked in the industry, that makes me think.... how many times you try to 'trick or mis-lead' people that may not be able to determine the issue on there own. I'm also letting COSTCO know that they should question your technical skills and recommendation practices.... I'm an honest hard working individual. You should do the same????? The first technician was dishonest and even cut one of the wires on my AC unit while I was standing there, then tried to charge more because my landlord was paying. The second technician spent a long time troubleshooting but never noticed the missing wire and recommended replacing the compressor or even the entire AC unit for $4,000-$7,000. I had a bit of a touchy situation where a rodent got into my AC condenser outside and I had no clue how to manage it. I use Thumbtack to find a couple of contractors, and the first company came out and quoted me over $3K to clean my condenser and cleanup my air ducts, and tried to scare me into a $10K revamp of the entire system in my attic saying that the air quality was harmful to our health. I was a bit weary and decided to get a second opinion... Sydney contacted me from One Season, and assured me that they would be able to take a look and take care of the situation. She was extremely kind and understanding given my concerns. Aubrey was my technician and as I mentioned above, was just amazing. Helped me with disposal of the critter, cleaned out my entire AC condenser and told me he would include it with diagnostic fee, which technically he didn't have to do since the system was still working, so he applied that fee to the clean up. He still took everything apart and did an inspection and checked everything out for me to make sure it was running properly. Was very informative and educational and told me signs to watch out for as my system is approaching 20 years old. Did a full inspection of my attic system and did point out some things that I might want to take a look at in the future, but never once tried to push a sale, install, or upsell anything. As is normal with any maintenance company, he did introduce their maintenance plan to me which I welcomed since I know my system is aging. And upon signing up for the annual maintenance plan, he actually waived my diagnostic fee... so he didn't even charge me for my service call! I mean my mind was just BLOWN! Rodent gone... Check! AC condenser clean... Check! AC in good working order... Check! Things to watch for... Check! Peace of mind... CHECK!! I went from a $3000 scare tactic quote saying the air quality in my home being harmful to my family's health to an honest assessment of my home's system, and what I could expect in the next few years given the age of the system. The entire system indeed, needed replacement! Capistrano Air came in at an honest quote and it was quite a bit less than a prior company's estimate, yet Capo. Shane and his crew were punctual, immediately set to work on removing the old, large heating system and outdoor unit, and worked tirelessly all day! We were constantly informed of each step - where the routing of tubing within the garage would be placed with attachment to the outside unit, and where its' location had to be, etc..
