Stopped into Rise n' Shine for brunch on a Tuesday and had a great overall experience. We were seated and greeted quickly, which is always a plus. The menu is large but easy to navigate, and the prices felt pretty average for the area. I ordered the avocado toast ($12.99), and it was bigger than expected--in a good way. The bread was perfectly toasted and piled high with avocado, thick slices of mozzarella, tomatoes, and a nice drizzle of balsamic. It also came with two eggs and a choice of side; I went with the fresh fruit, which was a great complement. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The only drawback was the limited staff. Our waiter was fantastic, but he was clearly stretched thin--handling seating, bar duties, takeout orders, and multiple tables all at once. It was a bit much for one person and did lead to longer wait times across the board. Hopefully, this was just a one-off situation, because the food and service quality were definitely there. We decided to try out this local restaurant for breakfast this morning. The parking lot was quite packed and there was a wait, but only 10 to 15 minutes. The hostesses were nice and they actually got us in sooner since we were willing to sit at a high top. Our waiter was nice and he came over right away and asked for our beverage order. He answered some questions about the menu and I specifically asked about gluten issues. My husband got a skillet that he really liked, but I just had corn beef hash in it instead of the typical item in it. Their skillets do not come with a side, which I feel like they should offer toast or fruit at least. Most places I've been always offer a side dish. I ordered two eggs, pork, sausage, gluten-free toast, and grits with butter and maple syrup. It took a while for the food to come out, but it was good once it came out. I enjoyed everything and so did my husband. It's a casual restaurant and a little bit louder because it was packed and they did have quite a few TVs playing, but without the sound. Another great meal and wonderful service today. Hubby and I watched Big Boy, the world's largest steam engine go by on its trip across Kansas this morning and decided to grab breakfast afterward. Rize and Shine is always a solid option. Hubby went with the Rize and Shine, and I had two slices of French Toast with a side of scrambled eggs. We enjoyed our meals and our server kept our coffee full and warm. The setup in the restaurant has 3 distinct dining areas, so each space seems more intimate than a larger open space would, and also keeps the noise level down. One of the people I came with is a regular for the past 5+years at Rise N Shine and meets here weekly for a Tuesday morning breakfast with old friends. The breakfast and lunch place gave homey, family-friendly, and easy-going vibes. The staff knew the regulars by name and their orders without any hesitation, which gave me the feeling they get to know each customer personally. Our server was helpful and constantly willing to help me with any modifications to the menu item I ordered. Our order came out kind of fast for a place that had a flow of customers coming in and out on a Thursday morning. I left happy and satisfied with the healthy option off menu. My friends didn't leave their plate with a scrap of food on them. From the moment you walk in until the time you leave every staff member is courteous and friendly. All staff members work well as a team to serve the customers. Our server Chava, did a wonderful job tending to our table. The menu offers a nice selection of food and beverages. As always the food was delicious and arrived quickly after being ordered. Portion sizes are very generous and we always seem to bring part of it home with us. The entire dining area always seems to be friendly, welcoming and very upbeat. Same space that used to be the artist better known as eggtc., but now has been rebranded and reborn as Rize N Shine. They're still serving breakfast each day along with a lunch-ish part of the menu and a great array of adult beverages from the full bar. The menu has been retooled somewhat with some new additions. The breakfast cocktails range from mimosa through Bloody Mary, with some nice twists in between. Breakfast still is the core offering with some solid specialities such as Eggs Benedict, build-your-own omelets, biscuits & gravy, and more. I'm a big fan of their griddle game, whether it's a stack of sweet cream pancakes or an artisanal waffle dish. The pancakes are super fluffy and disappear quickly. Pro tip: if you can afford the *real* maple syrup, then do so and thank yourself. Service is friendly and quick and there is almost always a 'runner' staff on hand to deliver from kitchen to table. Pricing is pretty attractive (a stack of 3 pancakes is only $9 and the value is higher) and the atmosphere is busy but not chaotic. Given the proximity to youth ballfields, there is a good chance that you'll see families with sluggers grabbing a weekend meal, so the place gets filled. I was pleased to have gone again to R&S as my salad was a good size for the smaller version. I found that the undercooked hash brown my Husband ate was less than the "extra" crispy version he originally requested. He did not send it back. We were sat near the coffee bar, that also was the entrance with a second entryway that left for a sever draft in the restaurant. I had to keep my coat on, and the draft was unpleasant. Food was fine, thats where the good news stopped. I ordered to a person who didn't want to write it down. Said he "had it!" Obviously he didnt! But once the food was delivered (which he didnt do) I never saw him again until it was time to pay! No "how is everything," or "how is everything tasting." Nothing! Paid the bill sitting there we weren't finished with our coffee a member of the staff came over and said we dont want to kick you out but we need your table for a larger party. The food is always good and the managers Heidy and Ana always greet me with a smile and treat the customers with kindness & compassion. The last meal was simply poor. Over easy eggs, hard. Bacon was cold, the toast was barely toasted and zero butter. The grits were the only good things. Visited for breakfast with two friends. My first visit since Rize & Shine took over Eggs,etc location and was expecting something new and exciting. Extremely disappointed. Staff, although effeceient, were LOUD in conversation in the bar area. Not a good restaurant for conversation. I ordered decaf coffee that tasted like it had been sitting in a carafe for hours. There was no offer to make fresh coffee but they did replace the coffee with tea. Ordered two eggs over medium. Got two eggs over VERY hard. They replaced the eggs quickly but they were very salty and tasted like they'd been cooked in old oil. The breakfast potatoes appeared to have been frozen potatoes and were very dry and tasteless. The ham was a nice portion, but a bit bland. One of my friends ordered the French toast with a strawberry compote. When it came, it was "swimming" in canned or frozen strawberries and juice. Sad experience. Big Biscuit is just down the road and the food is MUCH better. read more
