    Pad see ew with beef
    Julie P.

This was a spontaneous spot to try out and surprisingly it was a great place. I'm pretty picky with the vegetables they put in my pad see ew and both Chinese and American broccoli were in this! They have spice level 1-5 and 4-5 is perfect spice for me. The most welcoming and friendly staff. The setting is small and intimate and seems like a local spot and close to Costco and airport. Will be back to try the other dishes!

Very good pad Thai! Portions are large and moderately priced. Noodles were cooked perfect and not slimy or stuck together. The eggs were small enough so it didn't taste eggy. could have used more sauce as it seemed to be slightly lacking, the overall flavor was mild. Sprouts and peanuts were nice and crisp and crunchy

Service was fast and attentive, the food was really good as well. Pad Thai was a little sweet for us. Pad see ew was really good although the beef was a bit more chewy then I'd like. Papaya salad Laos style was delicious and the seafood salad had a wonderful dressing on it. Would definitely come back

This place has always been consistent and good! I've been coming here for years! Most times twice a week, as I travel to PDX on work. The heat is always spot on, but I can see how some might find it too spicy. Service is always fast and friendly! Restaurant is clean and kept up nicely for being in such an unassuming location.

I've been coming here for many years. The food continues to not disappoint. Flavorful, spiced right, quality and amount (protein choice is not skimis right for the price. Service is always great! The atmosphere is causal and normal noise level.

Mussaman curry with chicken comes with a small rice

One of my coworkers asked me how this place was. As a Portland native he was driven off from parking in such a seedy looking strip mall. It's a few miles from our office off Sandy and it is indeed questionable looking but if you like a spicy curry, you'll enjoy the mussaman or panang curry. We tried both with chicken and even the mild has quite a kick to it. Usually the spice level on mussaman scares me off but I'm glad I tried it. Similar to my go to yellow curry, but with peanuts and a spiciness that I quickly adjusted to. Wish the seeds and bits from the pepper were left out. My coworker chose medium and he was crying and sniffling for a while after his lunch. The people there are very nice and prices are about what you expect. About $20 a person after tip.

Arrived for a birthday with family on a chilly Friday late morning. Busy place. I ordered the lemon grass chicken, off the last page, Chef's Specials. Our birthday person had drunken noddles with chicken and another family member had panang curry. Table service was quick and friendly. Our food came out of the kitchen quickly and fresh. Our overall experience was that this is great food and our birthday person said some of the best Thai food he's ever had. We look forward to returning and trying more of the menu.

This place seemed like a hole in the wall but was pretty impressed by the quality in terms of taste! Tom Kha: 8/10 Pad Thai: 9/10 Seems like a casual place to sit down and eat! Service is nice and fast! Has a parking lot!

Very quaint, seems authentic, clean, they look like they've been in business for awhile. I love it. We haven't tried the food yet so, more to be told.

Hole in the wall deliciousness! So glad we stopped in. Small restaurant with some booths and tables. The waiter was nice, quick, and friendly. We got the shrimp salad rolls, drunken noodles, the yakisoba drunken noodles, and crab fried rice to go. The salad rolls and all of the veggies were so fresh and crisp! I loved the drunken noodles with medium spice. It was the perfect amount of heat to feel but still enjoy. If you like it hot hot then go hot! The crab fried rice did not skimp on the crab, it was packed and fire!! We will definitely be back to try more! I really want to try the larb, I'm betting it is amazing!

First night traveling, looked for something close to the hotel and since we do not have much good Asian food near where we live, we decided to try this place. Just in a strip mall, nothing fancy. BUT Great, authentic Thai food. We were in Thailand a few years ago and this was every bit as good. I would stop here again!! Fast service and friendly staff!

    Nice place!

The food here is delicious. Pad Thai is one of our favorites, as are the eggplant dishes. We order with no stars (hot spices) because if you add stars (spice) it can be quite hot. Love this place!

    What is the Noise Level?

Hi there - not particularly noisy. The flooring is the tile so there can be echo. Easy enough to have conversation with those sitting at the same table.

The the combination of smoky, tender barbecue with the creamy Thai curry was so good. The burnt ends brought that deep, savory, slightly charred flavor, while the curry gave it a completely different dimension. The flavors worked well. I just wished the burnt ends were more fatty. We also tried a pork belly dish, which was another highlight. The pork was rich and flavorful, and I loved the crispy fried egg, green beans, cucumber, and fish sauce with it. If you're visiting Portland and want something playful and different, Eem is absolutely worth checking out!

Flavor was great on this, and it had a crisp, crunchy batter - Wok fried yu choy: great wok char - Smoked pork krapao: crispy pork belly pieces, a fried poached egg (literally deep fried). Break up the yolk to dip with the pork. The cucumbers and green beans are a nice clean accompaniment; spicy fish sauce was great - White curry with brisket burnt ends: I've never had a white curry, but the white curry and cauliflower was a great match for the super rich brisket pieces. I love the interesting combination! Note: pretty much everything has some spice to it, so for kids, the jasmine rice and yu choy are the main items, though my older daughter did ok with the fried chicken and brisket! Music was great, and all of the food flavors were bold. Though flavor combinations were unique, everything was cohesive. They were packed on a Wednesday for lunch, so I'm glad we got here before noon to snag a table. I wish the Bay Area had more interesting fusion done right like this (I feel like fusion is a bad word in the food world...)

You can watch them frying the roti in front of you, they have a great flavor (they're a bit on the thick side), and the curry is absolutely sublime, with an incredible depth of spices without being hot. I also really enjoyed the freshness and textural blend of the "rice salad," with great cucumbers and herbs, although it was too spicy for my dining companions. I admit I didn't think the fried chicken was anything special--the chicken was moist (even the white meat), but the outside could have been crunchier. But I'm not the biggest expert in fried chicken, nor in pad thai, and both were certainly competent even if not as exceptional. Sticky rice was also cooked perfectly.

There is only one vegetarian item on the menu, the veggie curry. It's sort of an afterthought, throwing a bone for the vegetarians in the group. (Could they not make a vegetarian version of the Southern pad thai, just to be a pal?) The curry sauce is tasty, but the veggies were completely undercooked. Raw, tough, spongy pieces of underdone eggplant. It was like the person cooking it did not know what to do with a vegetable. The roti is tasty (I'm not familiar enough with Southern Thai to critique it). But if there's just one veggie item on the menu, and it's just vegetables in a curry sauce, I feel a restaurant should take pride in getting it right. Seating is a little tight, but somehow that adds to the atmosphere as you end up sharing a table with strangers, which is fun. Service is fast and food came out fast (too fast, in the case of those poor eggplants).
