I was in the need to have two batteries installed in my truck so I was referred to Al & Lee's Auto Repair in Upland. I spoke to the receptionist who seemed to be extremely bothered by me asking if they would be able to install the batteries. She said she would need to ask the service manager. After a 10 minute wait she came back and said she forgot to ask him. She walked back out to ask him again and another 10 minutes she returned and stated " I don't know if we have time to do that". I asked her if I could bring it back later and she just kept looking down at her paperwork and completely ignored me. I walked out completely baffled by her terrible attitude. The owner of this car repair place offered me an adjustment to my bill due to having no brakes whatsoever after taking it in for a routine oil change. This guy has had me hanging for several months. He verbally offered to send or deliver a check to me. This event happened in September. This is now January and he has completely ghosted me. He is not to be trusted because he is not honest with his intentions. I have a complaint into the state of California against this business. AN IMPORTANT UPDATE: For whatever reason Mr. Lee delivered on his promise to give me the adjustment. I'm pretty sure Lee is a genuine, miracle-performing angel in disguise. I had some ridiculous problem with my emissions system. If you've ever heard "it didn't pass", you know how those words strike fear in your heart. I took my car to my usual SMOG place on Foothill and when he said it didn't pass, I honestly thought he was joking. I never had a car not pass. I didn't even have a service light on! The guy tells me my EGR System isn't ready. He might as well have described to me some random piece of a rocket ship because I don't know what an EGR System is. I just wanted mine to not be broken. He says, "Just go drive it a few miles. It will be fine. Oh and don't use the AC." (Did I mention the high that day was going up to 114?) :| So, I drove it and then stopped by my usual mechanic (Scott at A-All Transmissions) just to make sure it was ready before I tried to retest. It wasn't. Repeat the driving 3 more times...in 115 degree heat...it's still not ready. Repeat the driving 3 more DAYS...it's still not ready and I still have no service engine light. It's clear I am going to have to repair my 18 year-old Nissan. I am not a rich woman. I found out that The California Bureau of Automotive Repair will help fund SMOG repairs so, after applying a receiving the voucher, about 3 weeks later, I took it over to Al & Lee's (you have to take the voucher to a shop that is contracted with the State to do it.) Here is where it got interesting. Lee looked over the paperwork and he basically told me that there was a guy down the street who does these repairs better and is contracted (an honest mechanic? one who doesn't want to take my money (the voucher covers the repair but, the consumer has to pay the cost of diagnosing the exact problem) because someone else does it better?) I was stunned but, I was about to set out for "Better Guy" when Lee suggested we run the diagnostic, just one more time to see if it was ready. Negative Nellie that I am, I said, "Sure. Go ahead. It won't be ready. I've been driving it for WEEKS. I've put over 500 miles on it. Nothing is working." Lee hooks up the car, gives me a huge grin and says, "It's ready. Let me get it in the bay and test it before it changes its mind." Car passed and Lee was a true pleasure to work with. Oh and I don't know why one of the reviewers said that his secretary was grumpy and sour. She's a peach! We chatted long past the time it took Lee to SMOG the car. She was professional but, she was friendly, and just very interesting to talk to, all around. If you're looking for a great experience, no matter what your car needs, this is the place! read more

I was told by the Acura dealer that I had an oil leak, $180 to diagnose it. I took it to Al & Lee's based on good reviews and was very pleasantly surprised. They put it up on the rack and said there were a few drops of oil, which in a 20 year old car with 250,000 miles was not bad and I could safely just watch it until it became a true problem. How much did they charge? Not a thing, and they were very quick and friendly about it. I'm going to go out of my way to take my cars there in the future. Lee let us know he will Be able to look at it the following morning. He not only gave us a proper quote but also gave us a realistic time frame when it could be done. I took my Subaru in to get my control arms replaced when it was time for pick up the owner said it's not the control arms it's my 4 bent rims and bad tires which they removed my rims and tires and replaced it with over sized rims and tires along with alignment, I trusted them and ended up paying 700 dollars for used rims used tires and alignment as soon as I drove off it felt fine once I got on the freeway it was still clunking hence broken control arm , as a mechanic you think they'd check everything nope of course not they screwed me over big time and wanted additional money to fix control arms which they should have done to begin with read more
