Parking is limited but free. We had no issues with finding parking in the early evening, on the weekend. The service is attentive and people there are very friendly. They want to ensure you have an enjoyable experience and happy to offer recommendations. They're proud of their service and food - all with great reason. Their desserts were amazing and beautifully presented. The food was fresh, delicious and well seasoned. The veggie kabobs had a great char on them. I've ordered from Toranj probably ten times now, which should tell you two things immediately. I like this place and I'm sufficiently confused by it that I've apparently been conducting a small longitudinal study. This is strictly a delivery review. I haven't eaten inside yet. And for delivery, they do a surprising number of things very well. The food arrives hot. Portions are generous. The hummus and other sides I've tried have generally been good and when that Juicy Chicken earns its name, it is excellent. Tender, deeply flavored, properly grilled, the sort of thing that makes you immediately understand why people love this place. Then you order again. And somehow the same chicken can arrive dry and scorched. The rice that was beautiful last time can be a little too al dente. The grilled vegetables can go from pleasantly blistered to looking like they survived a small structural fire. Look at the photos. I like char. Char is flavor. But there is a point where char becomes carbon and Toranj occasionally crosses the border without showing its passport. That's really my problem here, consistency. When Toranj is good, I think it's very good. The seasoning is there. The portions are unusually generous. The ingredients feel substantial rather than cheap. Even after delivery, there are moments when you open the container and think, damn, they nailed this. But ordering shouldn't feel quite this much like spinning a wheel. Will tonight's chicken be succulent or dry? Will the vegetables be beautifully grilled or cremated? Will the rice be right? At this price point, after this many orders, I shouldn't still be wondering. I also wish the plates were composed a little more generously beyond meat and rice. You get plenty of food, so this isn't a complaint about quantity. It's more that once you want vegetables, hummus, yogurt or something else to round everything out, you start building the meal through additional sides, and the bill climbs pretty quickly. And yet, I'm going to order again. That may be the most useful thing I can say about Toranj. There's a genuinely good restaurant in here. On its best nights, maybe a great neighborhood one. I'm rooting for them because the South Bay could use more places like this and because I've already eaten enough excellent food from this kitchen to know what they're capable of. I just want to stop crossing my fingers before opening the container. 3 stars today. There's a 4 star restaurant sitting right underneath it if they can make Tuesday taste like Saturday. read more

This is such a cute restaurant with beautiful decor. The food was good, but I wish they offered the option to add a small side of yogurt sauce, as well as a half-and-half rice and salad option. The biggest issue was the service. Our server was very inattentive. She forgot the beer I ordered and I didn't receive it until I asked about it halfway through my meal. Of course, the beer that had been sitting at the bar wasn't cold by the time I received it. She also never stopped by our table to check on us. She was also taking care of a large party seated next to us. As she hurried past our table, we tried to get her attention to ask for our check, but instead of stopping, she kept walking quickly, gestured for us to wait, and yelled, "One second, ladies." My friend and I found this to be extremely rude and unprofessional. I normally tip at least 20% when I dine out, but even leaving an 18% tip felt more generous than the service warranted. read more

The chicken and filet kebabs were succulent and flavorful. Likewise, the chicken koobideh (ground chicken) was delicious with an easy to digest texture. The beef koonideh (ground beef) was a bit under seasoned imo. The plate is complimented with a generous portion of rice. In addition, it comes with salad. However, we upgraded to Shirazi salad cuz that's just what any Persian food lover would do. Shirazi is fresh and lemony. I love to consume and compare fesenjoon stews. This one was a little more liquid phase and tart than I am accustomed to but tasty nonetheless. Eggplant appetizer had nice flavor and perfect to dip the bread in. The bread is massive and the portion generous. I'm used to the eggplant served as a dip but this was served as disc that had a cat food vibe about it. Parking is tight, the small lot will of course get full during the prime dining hours. I saw only 1 space for disabled parking. Street parking can get difficult. A single dainty pink rose was placed on top of some appetizers and drinks, so sweet. As we left the restaurant, red roses were offered to those who wanted them. Yesterday I Tried Toranj for the first time. It has a really beautiful modern interior. Went around 3 pm on a Wednesday, so it was calm, not busy, and honestly a nice time to go. My friend and I split the Greek salad and the Albaloo Polo w/ Chicken from the mixed rice section. The salad was okay but definitely lacked flavor and needed salt. The Albaloo Polo was not at all what we expected. Based on the menu, we both assumed it would be a mixed rice dish with chicken, cherries, etc. Instead, the chicken came separately in a soup-style bowl sitting in a fairly heavy reddish oily broth, with the rice on the side. Wish our server had explained the dish a bit more since neither of us had eaten there before or were familiar with the cuisine. That said, the chicken itself was very juicy and tender, but on the oily side. Service was attentive throughout. And the complimentary pita bread? Truly excellent. Soft, warm, slightly crisp somehow... honestly the standout item. The best Tahdig I've had and I've tried many. Crispy and evenly cooked. The beef and chicken Koobideh was well seasoned and juicy. After Seaside Palace closed, my family and I had been missing local Persian food since getting up to Westwood isn't always an option. The good: the ambiance is wonderful and the food was delightful. We had the grape leaves, hummus, signature juicy chicken and lamb shank. The lamb was perfectly prepared. The bread was hot and fresh. The chicken platter was large and my mom and I couldn't finish it even though we shared. We wanted to try the tahdig, but they said no more for the evening :( So why the three stars? Service. We had a reservation for 6 PM on NYE. We arrived at 6. The woman running the hostess stand was clearly overwhelmed. I wasn't even able to check in until 6:15. But then she told us "hold on." Finally, after 15 minutes, I asked if there was an estimate and she said a few minutes and we were seated around 6:35. I'm not sure why check-in took so long... even busy restaurants on a packed night can usually take your name quickly and proactively know how long until they will be able to seat you. 35 minutes after reservation time is quite a bit and thankfully we were somewhat flexible with time. Once we were seated it was marginally better. Our server was very friendly and helpful, but our table was often overlooked. Multiple times we had to wave someone down to get attention. I don't know if it was the location where they seated us, just still working out new location logistics or what, but the experience was disappointing. I will definitely give them another shot, and am really hoping this was just new restaurant glitches. read more
