Sorry, but the past reviews were nothing close to what we experienced during our visit to this joint! First, it was a bit intimidating walking in with my wife and there is nothing but locals and bikers. But, we were starving and having read the reviews thought we would at least die with some good food on our bellies if anything were to happen. The first red flag was they did not have a food menu available when we came in. The bartender just said the kitchen is open even though they were changing their menu. So I asked what was good and she told me to try the cheesesteak; I did. My wife got a simple cheeseburger. The food took FOREVER to arrive even though it was slow and we were the only ones eating. It was not worth the wait! The cheesesteak was on a 6 or 8-inch roll. It was the typical Steak-Um thin sliced meat with provolone. Very basic and very salty! The burger was like a backyard grilled burger and was nothing special. The food was at best a 5 out of 10. The kicker was when we asked for the check and it was $40! I guess when you walk in looking like you're lost, don't be surprised when there is suddenly no menu to see and you get high jacked when the bill arrives! Bottom line - Not a place to take family and do not believe the 5-star reviews about the food! read more

Super smoky on both trips when we visited. Ventilation- especially in summer- is especially bad. There's photos of food in the reviews but we've been twice and neither time was food available- which was probably good- it's too smoky to comfortably eat in there anyway. Overall, the place is pretty run down and just feels dirty overall- all kinds of clutter everywhere. Service is efficient and crowd seems friendly- but we couldn't get past the level of smokiness in there to ever go back. read more

Solid place. Burgers are awesome for a good price. (1/2 pound for around $8-$10 with various toppings) The fried appetizers that I ordered were previously frozen (mushrooms and onion rings) but they were well-cooked and crispy. The beer prices are competitive and service was very good. THE KITCHEN IS APPARENTLY CLOSED ON SUNDAY, but the Manager Stephanie fired up the grill and fryer for us and cooked our late lunch herself!. Talk about customer service, but I bet she was cussing us when she had to cleanup the grill. Lol What a pleasant experience. Although there only about a dozen people when we arrived, it was above and beyond expectations. I would recommend this bar and grill to anyone who wants to come in for a beer and meaty burger. The menu is better than a typical icehouse style bar, and I am looking forward to trying the chicken fried steak sandwich. I also love the classic honky tonk music. The patrons were mild mannered and quiet as one would want. We were even blessed when a customer bought the whole bar a round. WHO DOES THAT ANYMORE? That was probably the reason for the ringing of the loud bell, but a shout out to Thomas! What a great atmosphere to spend a relaxing weekend afternoon. I will definitely be back - the beautiful weather allowed the 3 garage doors to remain open. The fried items: mushrooms, onion rings, and potato fries were cooked perfectly. The mushroom Swiss burger has double patties and double cheese with the mushrooms between the two patties, served with mustard, fresh tomato slice, and iceberg lettuce. I requested mayonnaise on the side and it arrived in the basket along with the ketchup; great job, I usually have to ask several time for mayo on the side. The ice cold bottled beer was a nice pairing. Very pleasant experience with football game on the TV and classic country on the juke box. The manager, Stephanie, was accommodating and helpful with her spot on recommendations. read more

Would have loved to stay but we felt unwelcome as soon as we came in. The place is VERY antimask, which is fine with us since we're vaccinated but as soon as we sat down with our masks on, a gentlemen told us to get out unless we take our masks off. The bar tender then made up a reason stating she needs to see our face in case we're intoxicated. We were completely sober and intoxication can be seen in the behavior of a person, or the way they slur their words or slouch, not their mouth. We read the room and left before they got angrier. Thankfully this warning is the only thing I took home from that place. read more

I love a good dive bar. The gravel parking lot, the off-the-beaten-path location, and the wooden building all pulled me in. I am always a little leery of a place that serves drinks in plastic cups instead of glassware but after one of Sam's stiff drinks, I didn't mind much. The burger I ordered was great! Juicy and monstrous, just as advertised. Everything was fairly cheap. This smokey dive was a great find. Friendly staff and regulars, clean bathrooms, and cheap drinks. A definative dive bar! This was our first time there and we felt very welcome... They carded my 21 year old son for his beer (most appropriate since he looks like a tall 12 year old) The grill closed at 6 PM and we arrived a bit after that. They went ahead and served anyway. I had a MONSTER cheese burger that was absolutely delicious! I recommend this place to anyone looking for a quick bite or a cold beer...Bon appetit! read more

A friend recommended this place. Knowing that friend, I don't think she was talking about the Alamo. It was nothing like what I expected. That being said, I had a great time there. My wife and I went there with another couple. (Not the lady who recommended it.) When we pulled up, we were all like "ehhh I don't know". We parked in the mud because the paved parking is reserved for bikes. But we went in and I am glad we did. The people there were family and very very regulars. We sort of out of place, but were welcomed like regulars. Everyone was friendly, we were immediately set at ease when the lady behind the bar began insulting us in a Don Rikels kind of way. Interestingly, she told us that day was her fifth first day there. A fact born out by her total inability to use the cash register. Again, this was met by everyone as part of the good natured banter. My friends and I ended up there for the afternoon, enjoying the beverages, the company, and the food. The food: great pub grub. The burgers were my choice. Onion rings,,,,,, great. By The time we left we all had ordered twice. My friends and I are now " blessed". But that wasn't always the case. We all were able to appreciate our company. I don't care who you are or your position in life. You will have a great time there. Only at British pubs have I seen total acceptance by local regulars. The food is great and the bartender pours like she doesn't own it. By the way, after 10:00 pm, you have to ring the bell. You gotta love this place. read more

What a great place to put back a few beers! The food was great the people were nice. I met Courtney the bartender she is absolutely amazing, you have to see her popping bottles like a ninja. I don't think I've had colder beer or shots of Jagermeister. Not in at least 6 years. I have found my home bar I aim to be like Norm is to Cheers. I just felt right at home speaking to Courtney. She had piercing blue eyes you could swim into and emitted that motherly vibe (must be a Cancer) she listened to my problems like a old friend and I am just a nobody. My advise is to check this place out at least once and say hi to Courtney! read more

Went with a buddy for lunch on a groupon. Did not realize that this is a beer joint with smoking inside. Service was fair, no complaints on that end. I got their "hot wings" they were not hot at all, tasted more like bbq saused wings. I will say they had the perfect crisp on them though. Looks like your typical ice house but appears closed down because all the garage doors are shut. We called ahead and they were open! We stepped through the doors and it was like stepping back in time 20 years. Every customer turned to look at us. I'm sure the assumption was that we didnt belong...we did not have beards, cigarettes hanging from our lips, we weren't on motorcycles, we weren't in ripped jeans or torn tshirts, and we had not one tattoo. But, the bartender, Christian (who mentioned he was not familiar with bar and the system was down) looked happy to see us. He happily served us cold drinks and my husband got in on a pool game with some locals. What seemed like a questionable choice ended up being a short evening of laughter and kindness (through the clouds of cigarette smoke and foul language). They do fresh BBQ on Fridays and the owner gave us a sample. About $8 for a plate with Cajun corn and loaded potato salad. Definitely not a place to bring your kids and expect to leave smelling like you are a long time smoker. BUT... everyone was friendly and the drinks were good.
