I've tried several different items on the menu here and have been satisfied with each and every one. Favorites include fish & chips, burgers, ribeye on grill night and the peanut butter cookie! Northwest Houston Bar must visit! So I was on a random bar search on a Saturday night looking for bar that had food, fun, and vibes. My friend and I wanted to see if Northwest had a spot locally. I am start by saying plenty of parking. They shares parking lot with Triple Crown bingo in a plaza. We arrived 930 ish and it wasn't crazy crowded. They have a huge bar and they allow you to smoke cigars and cigarettes inside the bar. They have a juke box where people played there jams. Not sure if they have a DJ but they definitely serve food. We ordered beef Nachos and Lemon Pepper chicken wings. Those wings were fresh, hot, and flavored. Best lemon pepper I have had in Houston. The bartenders were nice and attentive. They made sure you kept ordering drinks. In addition they had some great drink prices and specials. Not sure if that's every week. I will definitely plan on returning soon. Went here last week and I had a great experience and I came back today, and the guy at the door turned me away because I had a temporary license. I'm still waiting on my license in the mail, and if you know anything about this that works they confiscate your old Id when you move states. Hence the temp license while you wait for one in the mail, and he claimed it wasn't a valid ID haha. That honestly makes no sense and someone needs to teach that guy how to do his job. 12/30/19 Came here with my coworkers and it was super busy. We were informed that the location isn't always so busy and it was maybe due to the upcoming holidays. So there was one bartender/server and it was slammed. I ordered the grilled chicken Cesar salad and a Bloody Mary. The food was great and my drink was good. The food is TOP NOTCH! Unfortunately, they don't have the cheese knots/cheese curds. But their crawfish is very tasty. Their monte cristo is seasonal and gluttonous (in a good way!). Their bacon cheeseburger is BOMB. The bartenders and servers are super nice, friendly, and just great. They participate in a lot of great causes as well. There was a crawfish boil and fundraiser in support of Autism (local groups were supported). I believe they do it annually. And weekly they have different events. Karaoke, DJ Night, sports nights. The crowds are pretty nice. Customers are friendly. There's a smoking side and non smoking side as well. The smoke order isn't terribly strong on the non smoking side. Don't skip out on food! Went on a Sunday to watch Texas play for a National Championship! But because it was a woman's sport and it was volleyball this place would NOT put the game on for us!!! There was plenty of open TVs with nobody in front of them but still no. The manager wouldn't even come talk to us about it. He said they would only show the NFL on Sundays. We asked other patrons and they didn't mind if we got the volleyball game on the TV but still NO!!! What kind of bar in Houston Texas won't put on Texas playing for a National Championship. This is the quintessential neighborhood bar. Regulars. Great bartenders and great staff. Management is amazing and the food is above average. They have specials all the times and DJs on weekend. Beer is always cold and shots on point. One of the things that sets this bar apart is the service. Kaley is heads and shoulders above anyone else. Here or anywhere for that matter! Typical sports bar, many draft beers, games in the back, lots of TVs. These are some of the things included here. Formerly a Double Dave's Pizza, this place is in a little strip center, and not too hard to find. Seems like a good place to come watch a sports game, but I'm not sure I would make it my regular place. There's a smoking section on one side of the restaurant, and non smoking on the other side. This is a good idea for sure, but sometimes the smoke smell can still be scented from the other end. However, the service is really good, and the bartenders will suggest what food is the best here. Sometimes I get some wings, but haven't had any in a while. I never played pool or any of the games in the back, but it seems like people enjoy them. I love to check out my neighborhood bars... Not to drink and get wasted, but get the climate of what's going on around me. Smokey? Divey? Trendy? RedNecky? Ghettoey? Stupid Expensive? Silly Cheap? Not dopey and sluggish. The food was edible at most. At 8 the lights go way down and the Thug Rap and Poppy Tejano came on constant and loud enough. It wasn't the Jukebox either cuz at 7:00 when I walked in there were playing a mix of 80s 90s whatever. Hey but if that's your thing? Not for a Sports Bar. You are usually forced to go either to the left or right during peek hours and either side is reduced access to the bar and limits your ability to mingle with strangers or people watch without traveling. Heavy smoke in the main bar area during peak hours. Dress code enforced. There is a no smoking section off to the left with its own bar in its own area / room and an outside patio to the right. Even though this place has a smoking side and a non-smoking side, you will still smell the smoke and will smell like smoke when you leave. WHY OH WHY can't the bars in this area of town figure out that going completely smoke free will net them more business in the long run. Yes, your smoking clientele might complain for a few days, but then they will just go outside like the rest of the booming non-smoking bars around. Only approx. 20% of the population smokes. I promise you, you will see more business after you become 100% smoke-free. Besides, this is Texas, just go outside if you want to smoke. It's beautiful outside pretty much all the time. My husband and I have been coming in for several years. The bartenders are all super friendly and service has always been prompt. The food was a surprise to us how good it is. The fried shrimp and cocktail sauce are one of my faves. But we've enjoyed many items over the years. They have steak nights and my son begs to join us especially during crawfish season. The crowd is family friendly before 9:30pm or so. Fun place to play pool or catch a game. I also like that they have Tuchtunes! And I see they have happy hour almost everyday and 24/7 except for Friday and Saturday, of course. Well, is not bad, I would never eat here tho. I've come here multiple times before just because it is so close to the house and EVERY TIME it is a huge disappointment. I don't know why, but tonight we made the mistake of coming here again. Bartender "Rachel" is the rudest, most unprofessional bartender I have come across. She asked the group I was with (5 people total) for our ID's as we are sitting 5 feet away. You would think on a non-busy night she can come up to the table we are sitting at and ask us for our ID's as we had no problem showing her. My friend decided to go up to the bar and give them all of our ID's which she could see all of our faces as we are very close to the bar. We are all between 24-25. Like I said EVERY-TIME I COME HERE.
