This old time diner sits in the middle of town in Alamo. There's some seating outside, and inside has some tables and counter seating as well. We were seated with a great view of the grill, and I was impressed that they use real eggs, and their home fries are from unfrozen potatoes. The staff is very friendly, and treat everyone like regulars. Their menu is mostly breakfast and sandwiches. Their pancakes are fluffy with a slight chewiness that's just perfect. What we ordered: + Paisano special - this included 2 pancakes, 3 eggs, home fries, and 2 linguicas. Their home fries are addicting. Everything was tasty. + Alamo pleaser - this included 1 pancake, 1 egg, and 2 sausages (or bacon). Everything was delicious. My only complaint is their scrambled eggs are flat. Cute and cozy diner located off of a VERY small street in Alamo; parking is the number one obstacle here, and the restaurant's lack of a restroom is the second. Stopped in with my family, and despite the inconveniences we all enjoyed our meals and look forward to coming back! The Eggs Benedict here was one of my favorites that I've ever had- instead of thick cut ham, the ham was shredded which made it evenly cover the benny (now I'll struggle to have it any other way!). My husband ordered the Philly cheesesteak burrito, and he had zero complaints (which in itself speaks volumes!). Our waitress was SO sweet, and it was awesome to see a woman behind the grill in the kitchen. We will stop in again-- although next time, I'll ensure my family completes potty breaks before visiting... it was a long walk for my mother in law to the nearest gas station. read more

This is a cute coffee shop that is all American food. It is a small restaurant compared to others that has about 4-5 tables inside along with bar top that wraps around the kitchen. I ordered chicken fried steak with gravy and eggs potatoes. I liked it a lot it tasted like an all American breakfast meal. The staff and service were great. This is our favorite breakfast place when we visit our son and his family in Alamo. It's small and quaint and the food is very good. Service is excellent. I ate at the cafe many years ago for the first time and recall how good it was especially the eggs. Today I went to have breakfast and it was just as good if not better. The owners wife waited on us and she was so friendly and said the cook was her spouse and third generation owner. Great old timey ambiance and friendly waitress. Basic breakfast was simple stuff you'd get at a franchise restaurant and about the same taste but extremely pricey. Family was in town for the weekend so we decided to drive here for breakfast. I just wanna say that the staff are super friendly and really did a great job at coming to check on us often to see if we needed refills on anything. However, the food was just eh. As you can tell from the photo, the potatoes just look sad. They were slightly burnt and tasted stale with absolutely no seasoning. The eggs Benedict was just not good. Idk how to describe it but what I can say is all I tasted was the bread lol. I don't think I would be back based on the food. But it does appear that most of the people who return are regulars and I assume it's based on the service which is why I added another star. Came here yesterday at the suggestion of my bf and this place was pretty good. I got their hot chocolate and the Randy's Special and the food didn't disappoint. The Randy's special is basically an egg scramble with ham, linguica, mushrooms, onions, and bell peppers. The hot chocolate was pretty good too with the whipped cream. Although I do wish their drinks had refills. I think coffee gets the free refills but not much else. The price is pretty good for what the dish was. But the other basic stuff (like 2 eggs with some sort of meat) seemed really expensive for what it was. That said they do seem to have interesting specials. Wouldn't mind coming back to try other original dishes but I do wish the build your own breakfast plates type wasn't so expensive. read more

Alamo Cafe! What a cute and really homey restaurant. You're instantly greeted by nice workers and the place is very clean and each table is stocked up with 3 different kinds of hot sauce along with ketchup, syrup for pancakes, and jams. We ordered a couple things today. If I could I would give the place 3.5 stars. The servers were wonderful and the ambiance is really relaxing and welcoming but the food was kind of just average. Everything tasted like it needed something more to stand out. It was consistently ok food. Nothing awful about it but nothing really special either unfortunately. Like the huevos rancheros lacked an ingredient or two to take the dish over the top and make it shine! We'll probably wait sometime before we come back and try this place to see if the flavors change up. read more

Came here last year and they don't allow paying customers to use the restrooms. And when you ask for the restroom they tell you to use the restroom at the end of the plaza. So, not only less than helpful to their customers, they are not good neighbor's either Asked for a breakfast without eggs and the server suggested to substitute avocado. She made it sound like a substitution in place of eggs, but charged me for the avocado anyway. OK fine, but $4.99 for substituting a few slices of avocado for eggs is usury. I was meeting with business partners so I didn't say anything about it, but will not return here again. read more
