Alamo Heights Garage helped me with a complex repair of my 2022 Dodge Durangos cooling system. A 9 ft aluminum line ruptured and the transmission had to be removed to replace it. Several months ago I took my truck to Alamo Heights Garage on a recommendation and after reading many fine reviews. Fixing an exhaust leak on my 2008 F-150 Alamo Heights Garage quoted me just under $1k to fix it which was under most of the prices I had seen others pay online. The repair was quick and everything was great until.... A few weeks ago while on vacation and towing a travel trailer the leak returned. I was.... upset our entire trip that either a new leak developed or the previous repair failed. Upon returning home I contacted Anne and she was very helpful. They quickly identified the reason for the failure, they were honest about the reason for it failing... a tech that no longer worked there and they covered the repair per their warranty. I got it back today and am glad to have my truck and appreciate the service. More than that I appreciate the honest communication from them. It is rare for any business to own up to an issue and make things right. Glad to have my truck back. I'm 75. My parents did business with this garage. The same family runs the place. I've been coming here a long time. They are honest, capable, and really good at what they do. They just replaced the works for my power seat on my 2007 ford truck. I would not think of taking my business elsewhere. I cannot recommend them enough. As a newcomer in this part of town I am lookin by for new service for auto, hair ect. I was pleased to receive a mailer with a complimentary oil change from this business. I was going to pay to upgrade to synthetic oil. The expiration date was listed as 5-29-19. I called a full month ahead to make an appointment and was told they did not accept it that it was a printing error. They lost a potential customer with a household of four automobiles. If it were possible to give Alamo Heights Garage 0 stars I would. The work they do on vehicles is simply "ok". As they were repairing my vehicles AC system they damaged the gear shift on my Jeep. The gear shifter was in perfect working order when I dropped my vehicle off. When I brought the broken gear shifter up to the owner Gary Pundt he told me "I have a 2006 vehicle with 120,000 miles and that maybe it was the gear shifters time to break". Obviously I and every other consumer reading this understands that things are more prone to breaking as they age. Understanding that fact does not excuse the Alamo Heights Garage to be negligent while they have my or anyone else's vehicle. I paid $368.04 to have my vehicle repaired and I paid the amount without any dispute. Now I am left with a vehicle that will not shift properly and another repair that I must pay for caused ironically enough by a repair shop. Do yourself a favor while avoiding a lot of hassle at the same time and stay well clear of Alamo Height Garage. I wish I had. read more

Took my VW Passat to Alamo Heights Garage for a free, AAA 40-point inspection. This inspection is normally conducted prior to a road trip and requires an oil change. I told them that I wasn't due an oil change which would have cost around $59, and they agreed not to do that service. Surprisingly, they found nothing wrong and provided the results of brake inspection and tire inspection. Very pleased with the service, and will take my vehicle there in the future. read more

So..... my front drivers side wheel cams completely off as I was driving. Very scary and there was, what looked like, substantial damage. We called AAA for a tow and they recommended AHG. My truck was dropped off on a Sunday morning. 8am Monday morning I received an update via text, email and a courtesy call from the shop. Totally impressed me!!!! They asked all the right questions and answered mine. Communication was always there about the needs of my truck. Now for the most impressive things! It looked like I was going to need extensive brake work, axle replacement and other parts to make my truck road worthy. I was thinking upwards of $3000 easy. They called me yesterday and told me my truck was ready and my bill was $307. What tha! Thank you God!!!! They were completely honest as to the extent of damage. Turns out I just needed the lug bolts replaced and some adjustments. They could have taken me to the cleaners and I wouldn't have even known any different. I will not take my vehicles anywhere else! The service was prompt and somewhat courteous but a couple of events occurred that raised some questions for me about the commitment to customer service. I have had the car in probably 6 times total. It is older and needs maintenance fairly regularly. After one visit for an oil change I drove the car home to find it was spraying antifreeze out the top of the radiator. I thought this was odd because that wasn't happening when I took the car in. I drove back the next morning (antifreeze spraying) and asked the owner to look at it. After explaining that I just picked it up the night before and that there was no problem before the service appointment he merely said that radiators can have that problem when they get old and gave me a quote to fix it. I didn't know cars well enough to know if that is true or not but I had to have it fixed so I told them to proceed. The experience made me question the integrity of the operation. And as the result I am trying out a new service center. The other issue involved a poor tire balance just prior to the radiator issue. The tires were worse than before at highway speeds, 70+, but since I don't drive on the highway often it took me a month to figure that out. When I pointed out that the balance was not done correctly they said it was obvious it was recent because the grease marks were still on the tires but did not offer to re-balance them to correct the problem at no cost. Since it was a month later I didn't want to debate the issue and let it go. The radiator combined with the tire issue left me thinking these guys are not committed to me being a customer that felt taken care of so I am leaving. I have been a good customer - about 2000.00 in a year. I expected a bit more especially around the radiator issue. read more
