You go to pick up vehicle fully prepared to pay $2400, Chris tells you, $1700. Why? Because it didn't require as much labor as initially estimated. I called Martin's to see if they could fix my power window problem. Johnny who I spoke to told me the diagnostics would cost 130. I took the car in and Joseph/Jose was at the desk and informed me the the 130 quote was wrong and it was 250. I needed the window repaired so I left it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They were supposed to call me that day or the next with the results. No call that day, and no call the second day by 12:30.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I stopped by at 1 and informed the problem was not the switch but in the wiring and were proceeding to locate/fix. Third day I recvd a call saying problem now was master control switch and needed to be ordered 3-4 day delivery so I could come by pick the car up until the part arrived. It was 11:30 then but agreed to come by arnd 5 so they could replace all that was removed. At 5 I got the key and was told car was ready and parked in front. No it was still in the bay. The hood was not fully closed. Joseph proceeded to push on the hood to latch it. I told him it still wasn't closed. He opened the hood to find a fuse box cover not replaced preventing hood from closing. The hood was slammed shut and I then proceeded to drive the the car out. He stated he would call when the part arrived. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It may have been a hectic day, and a isolated instance, but that doesn't account for the lack of communication between the guys that answer the phones and the technicians who work on the vehicles[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also needed is a lesson in congeniality where a customer feels that he and his vehicle will be taken care of as if it were their own.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Debating whether to take it back to finish repair, but I already paid for the part. Another great experience at Martin's Auto Clinic! My 2005 LS430 had a Check VSC light, and Martin's staff diagnosed the cause as being the O2 sensors for the catalytic converters. They tried to save me some money at first by only replacing the two input sensors, but the rear sensors needed replacing, too, so it took a little longer. Afterwards, they also found that a heat shield was rattling and causing a lot of noise. Apparently some washers had worn larger holes in the heat shield after all these years I've owned the car, making it a little loose, and that was causing the noise. While at it, they also made sure that all the bolts underneath the car were tightened, and reattached the right front wheel's stabilizer bar that had come loose. I've been using Martin's now for several years and have always felt that I got great service at a fair price. I highly recommend them if you need to get your car looked at. read more

Update. I spoke with Chris From Martins on 6/14/2024, in reference to this review and a few more I posted. The conversion was cordial at first. Chris had one concern and one only. He wasn't in the least concerned with the issues I posted about. He informed me the key fell apart in the technicians hand when he went to start the car. He also stated the cost of the coil replacement was fair. He further stated he felt everything was "fair" on Martins Auto's end of the transaction. I that point I informed Chris we felt like my daughter was not treated fairly with this transaction. Chris kept repeating as far as he was concerned we were treated fairly. At this point I informed Chris that this was a relationship that has ended and we'll have to go our separate way. Chris kept insisting he felt we were treated fairly and would I please change the reviews. I once again stated to Chris I would not change the reviews due to the over charge of services, paying for the key ( my daughter had to find alternative means of getting to and from work for 4 days due the Martins breaking her key), and poor customer service with my daughters vehicle. He again stated HE felt the service provided was FAIR and would I PLEASE change the reviews I posted. I had to keep informing Chris I would not change the reviews to the point I became frustrated and stated to Chris that this was now like a bad divorce and we both need go our separate ways and ended the call. Moral of the story? Chris From Martins Auto's Service was more concerned with my changing my reviews that he was with solving my issues. It's kind of sad this happened. Check your receipt and make sure you in fact are treated fairly. Just remember Chris's only concern is NOT providing good customer service, it is changing your reviews. From my first contact with them, to the time they dropped my car off, it was absolutely spectacular! I had my car diagnosed at the dealer and it was going to be an expensive repair so I decided to shop it around and do some research on my own. When I go down the "research" rabbit hole it just means I am going to have a million questions for whoever I am doing business with. I contacted Martin's after hours and got a very rapid response that I was not expecting. I had a bunch of questions and James answered every one of them. I had a check engine light on my Volvo XC90. Auto zone told me the code was for a mass air flow sensor. Martin's replaced the Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve, diagnosed and replaced a broken engine mount, and changed the oil. The next day I drove to work and home, then noticed oil below the car. I returned to Martin's, and they diagnosed a bad part, kept the car to replace it, and gave me a ride back to my house. They later returned to my house to put something on the spot where the oil leaked in order to make it right. They also offer a military discount on labor. read more

I am very dissatisfied with Martin's Auto Clinic. The power steering fluid was leaking from my PT Cruiser. Twice, I brought the car to a local garage that claimed to have replaced the power steering pump and pressure line. But the car continued leaking fluid. So, then I took the car to the North Star Dodge dealership. But the told me they couldn't do the job, and instead referred me to Martin's Auto Clinic, which they highly recommended. So, I went to Martin's, where they told me the problem was the exact same pump and hose, which the local garage claimed to have replaced. Martin's replaced them again. I paid $797.66 for the repair. However, three days after I paid and picked the car up, the power steering fluid had leaked out once more. I took the car back to Martin's because it was under a "Technet" warranty. After examination, they told me the problem was the "Rack and Pinion" component, which would not have been covered by the original warranty. So, I would have to pay more money to get that fixed, and, in effect, throw good money after bad. Martin's claimed the power steering was not "leaking the week prior." Yet, three days after I took my little PT home, the exact same problem had started up all over again. If you've had a similar experience with Martin's Auto Clinic, please let us know. read more

Honest Reliable Service!!! I first reached out to Martins through Yelp. I got a quick hassle free response. I was so worried I had major issues with my Cadillac. They made me feel at ease before I even got it to the shop. The shop was nice and clean, very friendly knowledgeable staff. Offered me refreshments while I waited. They provided me with a shuttle to and from the shop. I received frequent updates, very thorough explaining all of the repairs, cost of parts/labor AND educated me on future maintenance. So I'm always skeptical on going to a new mechanic shop because the bad experience I have had at a few places here in San Antonio. SO my brother is a certified Master Mechanic,and he lives 800 miles away but he did some research and found Martin's Auto, so I read the reviews and they were all good, and I'm all about reviews. So I took my car in and told them I knew it was leaking coolant but not sure where from and the exact problem.So Mark told me he was going to look at it and would call me in few hours, and he did and I didn't quit understand so I had my brother call and Mark explained what he did and what he needed to do. I was tired of being taken advantage of at the dealership, no real flex in pricing and if you go aftermarket kiss your warranty goodbye. I've been screwed over by independent mechanic shops in the past so I'm always weary of where I take my car. I took my car to Martin's for my a/c but the problem went much deeper than that, but I already had known that. The cool thing was Jesse wanted to take me into the shop and actually show me what was wrong with the car. A lot of the time when a shop finds additional problems they want to tell you the cost but I never get to physically see the issue. Not at martins! They take the time to show you and explain what issues can come of it if not fixed. My job ended up being costly, $2112, but after seeing it with my own eyes I knew it had to be taken care of. Jesse sent me an invoice via email and I signed off on the work. It took about two days to complete and they test drove it to make sure all was well. When it came time to pay I was informed that my out the door cost was $1902, they were able to save me $210 and my car drives like it's brand spankin new! I'm impressed by yhe professionalism and the transparency of this shop. The customer service was fantastic and I even got text updates with pictures to let me know how things were going! Oh, did I mention the 2 year/ 24,000 mile warranty? It covers parts and labor and is extended from coast to coast meaning other shops within this system of warranty will repair my car if need be! After calling several of their competitors and getting multiple varying quotes, Martin's was among the most reasonably priced. I arrived at 8am and they were able to check out my Jeep and diagnose the problem within 30 minutes. They explained the problem and gave me several options, all were very competitively priced. This shop is not recommended at all. First, they bait you when they are recommended, so you think "They must be good!". No. They are only good at scamming customers. We took our car there to get the power steering fixed since it was leaking. They claimed it was fixed. We trusted them, so we took the car home. We asked about warranty and the guy said "Sure. It's in the paperwork.". Well, it was still leaking and after 3 days we took it back. They claimed it was something else, so we would have to pay again for this new problem that is not covered under their warranty. We paid over $1000 and we felt cheated and scammed when they wanted more money to fix the problem that they originally had fixed and they claimed it was under warranty. Do not go there. They misdiagnosed the problem. They hand you a fake warranty brochure, that doesn't even have their name on it. When you pay and sign, you are only signing and agreeing to the service performed not that you are getting a warranty on that service. Beware! Fake! Scam! They even have a BBB sign next to the counter, and when we called to file a complaint. Guess what. They are not even associated with them. We filed with BBB anyways. So we have to wait and see the results. If you are not signing a document that has your make and model of car with specifics as to what the warranty it covers, YOU DON'T GET A WARRANTY!
