Probably the worse service I've received while visiting San Francisco this far. The gentleman at the counter was super annoyed and rude and clearly didn't want my service. Only reason I got something was because it was my first time and wanted to try a sandwich and hit the park before leaving town. Tbh I don't even care how good my sandwich will be at this point. Won't come again but hopefully the food is a better experience then the service. I tip for those who provide quality customer service. He was far from that. And it baffles me that the register when you charge, the system asks if I want to leave a tip. With that kind of service? You should be ashamed to have it ask for a tip. It's a small little cafe and it looked a bit sketchy and run down but don't let that fool you.. go inside and try out the sandwiches they have to offer. We got salmon avocado (4/5) and a chicken pesto (4.5/5) sandwiches. They say never judge a book by its cover and this place takes that saying to the top! The sandwiches are on steroids! Long overdue review, last year it was my first time here, it was at 8 or 9 am in the morning. Super duper friendly folks first off. Very nice area outside of the cafe, as of course the painted ladies and the Alamo Square is right behind it. Superbly satisfying ripping the sandwich in half in my opinion. The atmosphere is very elegant, nothing too crazy, but tasteful, the menu is visible above the counter. Taking bus is very easy as there is just little steps to step inside. Would prefer the 22 Fillmore bus than the 21 Hayes bus as the 21 takes a long time to loop around, operating 3 buses daily. But you can walk if you have strong legs with these concrete hills. The taste is pretty amazing I must say, especially their iced coffee. Again, amazing people. Pricing is reasonable too in my opinion, though I get that some will criticize about it. If you're visiting San Francisco, please come on down here. You'll never be disappointed. read more

Finally went here this past weekend after taking our pup to the dog park! Only got two drinks (Zebra, a white chocolate and mocha latte and a cappuccino) but they were delicious and fairly priced. I just popped in for a bite and to charge my phone, I was nervous because the place is a little rough inside. I asked to have a turkey blt(not on the menu, but a combo of two items). He obliged and was really friendly. He rang me up for my sandwich and a drink, totaling $14. I was a little surprised thinking the price was a bit high(sandwiches $9.45), but when he brought the sandwich out I was seriously impressed-- it was really large and super well done. They don't even carry the simple English muffins for breakfast sandwiches. Came in for a friend's art show. It's a quaint coffee shop with good food and coffee options - everything about it is a solid above-average experience, but not "wow I'm amazed." Wow, the owner of this cafe has a really bad attitude. I placed an order on Seamless and when I arrived, he went on a rant about how the old owners set up Seamless and he "wants nothing to do with it". Apparently there was a change in ownership 3 months ago and the new owner doesn't want to take online orders. The problem is that Seamless and GrubHub still accept orders from here, and he refused to contact the sites to remove his business. He said "it's not my responsibility", told me to call them, and then made me pay a second time. I understand the situation is not his fault, but as a business owners keeping the SAME BUSINESS NAME, it's your responsibility to cover all aspects of the business, including systems that old owners left behind. I really wanted to support this local cafe but it's not worth it the debate. read more

However the drinks, food, interior, and location were exceptional! Drinks- good coffee and great orange juice if you like pulp. Garden bagel NOW that was something to write home about. Why the three stars then? Felt unwelcome from the lack of a friendly morning welcome of any shade from either person behind the counter.
