Long story short, they don't value you as a customer and they don't value your time. You are better off not waiting for your appointment, having them not do the work when they were supposed to do it. Dodged the work ALL DAY LONG and then tried to pull my truck in at the end of the day and hold it over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Trust the reviews and just don't do it. Midas, don't bother responding to my post asking how you can make it better. I will be taking my vehicle elsewhere for simple maintenance. read more

Called a week in advance to get my car in for winterization and come to find out the receptionist never put me down for any sort of appointment even as I made it clear I needed to bring my car in for this service. Showed up and there was no appointment, absolutely terrible reception and lack of attention to detail is far too inconvenient for this time of year. read more

Originally I toed a jeep to them to have a full break inspection and repair job done. They quickly returned my jeep saying it was done and safe to drive. Luckily, I took the jeep to get tires right after midas. Within 11 miles of their complete break job, I was completely out of break fluid with no breaks. I returned the car to them hoping that they would stand by their "parts and service guarantee." After waiting three days and being called into their shop unnecessarily once, they charged nearly an additional $1000. The best part is, after getting home after two of their full break inspections, I noticed that they failed to notice a break light out. I wouldn't take a car to them again if it broke down in their lot. read more

This place is amazing. Today I had my car towed here because the ignition wasn't turning. They took the ignition out and "blew it out" for me with air and didn't charge me a THING because it was so fast!! That's crazy and I've never had that happen to me anywhere else. Whenever I have a problem I have zero issue bringing it here because I know they won't extort me for cash. Communication is awesome; they have always gotten back to me within a few hours of drop-off. Fair prices and they are very honest about what work needs to be done now and what can wait. My highest recommendation! read more

Follow up. Midas offered to do needed exhaust work at "normal shop rates" in an effort to "work with you" as reparations for the inflated bill. This shop has an overpriced rate. I just had a battery replace done, mind you I have my own battery. A less than 30 min work, I'm sure it was even less than that, I got charged $115 ! I could've done it myself but my left hand has a fracture, and I've replaced my car battery before, it's just an overwhelming price for the kind of work that needs to be done. read more

Oh Midas what can I say good about you? We recently had to put our truck into the shop and this was one of the closest places insurance would tow it to (lucky us). We thought it was going to be a simply fix (we thought starter) turns out it was much more than that. After Midas inspected it it turns out it was the engine that locked up. Not good news for us. Well that's when it all turns sour for us with Midas. After about 2 weeks of the truck sitting in their "abandoned " car section I got tired of hearing the same old crap each time the hubs would call them so I called. Well apparently they don't like you to make them feel "rushed" or think that you should be aggravated by it taking forever for them to figure out why the motor locked up so we could order a new one. So any way I decided to put my foot down and wanted to know why was this taking so long why was it they were getting to others vehicles before mine? They didn't like the tone I was using so they said you know what just come get your truck we aren't going to work on it anymore. Wait what!? Why cause I wanted to know why it was taking so long for you to get to the root of the problem? Or was it because someone finally said something to you and wanted something done? So after getting the GM's number and leaving a message only for him to finally call me back the next day for me to try to explain my story to him did he want to start off by saying oh I think there is more to your story than that (trying to say I said more on my conversation with the manager) so finally after repeating my story again he says I will look into getting a price for you a motor. So now that I made you read this long review...bottom line truck isn't fixed because I honestly think it was to much for them to take on and instead of admitting defeat they chose to do nothing. And if you try to show how you feel on the matter they get butt hurt and refuse to work on your vehicle anymore. So if you ever get put on hold and get to listen to their lovely message about how customers come first they are here to serve the customer it's all a lie! Don't , I repeat DON'T go to this MIDAS ,I called yesterday 10-02-2015 To ask if they could put my winter tires on and I was told by Denise that works the counter yes more than likely they could put my tires on if not it would be done first thing in the morning. At this point I asked Denise if my vehicle would be put inside the shop overnight, I did not want to leave my vehicle out on the street because I have thousands of dollars invested any electronics not to mention the $1,600 worth of Blizzaks sitting in the back of it. I was told by Denise that they close at 6 p.m., I had not received a phone call by 6 o'clock with the status of my vehicle, I called at 6:02 received an answering system whereby I left a message inquiring as to whether or not my vehicle was inside and would somebody please call me back. I called today 10-03-2015 at 11:28 to find out why no one had returned my message and again what was the status of my vehicle. A man who did not identify himself that answered the telephone told me that my vehicle had not been done ,after I gave him my name, he told me that there were 3 other people ahead of me and when I asked why no one returned my phone call he informed me that their phones have been quote ringing off the hook all day. I asked him if my vehicle has been put inside. The man told me they had eight bays that were all full and 40 cars waiting and there was no way my vehicle was going to be put inside, and if that there was an available spot it would have been. I was totally lied to. I will not even give them one star for Customer communication. I did not appreciate his attitude and dealing with me or the situation. And when I informed him about what Denise had told me, he just half-assed huffed and he said I have a 8 bays full, no way was I going to put your vehicle inside. I elected even though I was told that he would have it done today, to go and pick it up. Bottom line I do not have winter tires on my vehicle. And as I have always been taught I can go anywhere and be treated like s*** I am NOT going to pay for the privilege. It is about the principle. I do not recommend going to Midas. They should have been truthful in saying that they were taking in too much business or at the very least had too much business to be able to stand up to any timeline or commitment. Scheduled an appointment for a diagnostic to figure out why my service engine light was on. Service traction also was on and my traction control was not working at all. The day before my appointment abs and break light came on but did not stay after I turned the vehicle off then on again. Took it in and opted to wait there. Lady at the counter told me I probably shouldn't stay because it could be hours before they were done. An hour later they told me they didn't know what was wrong but that the oil needed to be changed and that would most likely fix Everything. They turned off the service engine light. Was done in about 2 hours. Next day all lights back on and my husband took it back. They had it all that day and just before they closed called to ask why they never called like they said they would when they were done. They then said all they did the whole day it's been there is run diagnostics and we're planning on keeping it overnight. I told them no because it's my only form of transportation and they also didn't even ask permission before opting to keep it. Took it home with me. Next day the car started just fine then a little while later shut off and had the light with a lock on a car come up on the dash. Which means that my cars security system locked it because it thought I was trying to steal it. Long story short I had my car towed to the chevy dealership and they found out what was wrong with it. Don't bother going to midas for any issues with your vehicle they won't fix the problem. If anything they will just add more. On a side note my friend went the day after I did for an alignment and she now has the same problem. Her truck won't start at all.. and they didn't even do the alignment! read more

I had family fly into Anchorage and we drove from Denali to Fairbanks. My poor old car was making the loudest and most noisiest sounds. We made it in to Fairbanks. I called around and one place hung up on me and another didn't have an appointment. I was able to make an appointment online with Midas. I got a call back from a young lady saying they would try to fit me in for a overview. We drove in, we greeted by a gentleman and asked we crank up the car - BoooooooooooooBbbbb sound. The first thing he said was what did you hit. He took over and pulled the car up on the lift. Next thing we know he welded the hold in the muller. He said no charge - we were ecstatic. If I need anything done with my car I will drive to Fairbanks because I can finally have trust back in mechanics. read more

Came in for winterization- they weren't able to put on an engine block heater, and charged me 210 labor for the whole process. Go somewhere else that won't overcharge for labor. read more

Brought my vehicle in for a diagnostic at the Fairbanks location when it was overheating and not shifting properly. They gave me two quotes, one that I was told would be enough to get it running, and one that was recommended, plus some work in my transmission that they wouldn't even be able to complete at this shop. Due to financial constraints, I opted for the minimum to get it driving. Vehicle made it about 10 miles from the shop before breaking down again. I took it to a different shop to have the recommended work done, plus the stuff Midas told me I couldn't have done at their shop. The second shop diagnosed much more than what Midas did, enough that my car is totaled. I went back to the store to see if there was any kind of deal they could cut me because I wouldn't have dropped the initial $1,400 had I known the extent of what needed to be done. I'm not mad at the fact he didn't refund me, but the condescending manner in which he spoke to me about not refunding me. Rhetorically asking, "well did you drive it away from here?" He said he would "work with me" if I towed my vehicle back to Midas. When I asked what "working with me" meant, he responded "you're just getting mad." I told him, no, I wanted him to explain what "working with me" meant and if that meant there was any way a deal could be worked out on the original bill. He then insinuated the other shop could have caused the damage and accepted no possibility that a bad diagnostic could have been an issue. The interaction was dismissive and disrespectful read more

I am an older senior on fixed income took my older Dodge Ram 2500 to Midas in Anchorage ,Ak am not mechanic tend to trust easy .. any way thousands of dollars later supposed fixed lot of preventive maintenance , well several years later find my self moving north to North pole , Ak its do it yourself with U haul pulling a trailer , seems as if water in gas or missing , running rough .. take it a flat rate shop in Anchorage ..( friends said take it here) ..spent $4,500.00 on stuff supposed done by Midas .. He laughed said never touched and some parts are original yet .. I have the parts ,the old Midas bill and the this shop owner willing to testify in court .. Midas is scam /rip off period some of there workers have come north to Fairbanks .. Do Not trust Midas plus write their own good reviews go to Midnight Suns auto here in town ,or MGM auto in Anchorage learned by trial and error you can trust /rely on these people to do the work and there fair ... read more

We were traveling through Fairbanks on vacation from Socal and had a problem with our wheel alignment. Stopped in on Saturday and made an appt for Monday morning. We couldn't have been happier with the work performed by Harry and his crew. We had made after market changes to our 89 VW Westy which more than likely caused some of our issues - some of which Midas could fix and some they were not able to.
