This store is in a really convenient location right near the freeway exits. To its credit, there's a huge range of products which is great. The downside, though, is that prices seem to be higher than usual for staples like eggs. I do like that there's sushi and a Starbucks inside. It's a nice location, as I've actually sat and ate dinner there before. In terms of doing major grocery shopping, though, I would suggest driving about 15 minutes north or south to a Trader Joe's. Even though tax in Calabasas is on the higher side everywhere, there just aren't a whole lot of sales on products you regularly need to buy. read more

Overall, I do like this store, however, the last two times I have shopped there I have come home with expired food. I will definitely take some of the blame with this but I don't think I should have to check every item I buy. The first item was the Albertsons brand cheetos - 10 days over the expire date. Not a big deal - they were cheap and I probably shouldn't have been eating them anyway. The second item was sour cream. I didn't realize it was old until I cooked it in something and it was definitely apparent - 8 days over the expire date! On a positive note, I decided to buy a furniture set from them and the Manager was especially helpful!! It was in 2 giant boxes and my husband and I had to get a truck to bring it home. Either the clientele is ghetto and can't put carts back where they belong, or the store doesn't pay people to put the carts back. I mostly come here for snacks and the occasional deli item. I've never had a bad experience here. I'm in and out in a flash because there's never a line. Oh Albertsons.....WHAT HAPPENED?! Just like some report "this used to be my go to store".....I'm saddened to report Heck NO!!! Not sad anymore...now I'm filled with passionate anger with Albertsons. We came home from a 6 day trip from out of town. You know what that means. BARE CABINETS/BARE FRIDGE. Well, the hubby said "lets go to Albertsons and restock! I have some errands in the area and it would work out great". After spending $300 for the same things I get at my Ralph's for $50 dollar less (by the way)...a 1/2 gallon of milk at Ralph's is $1.89 and the milk at Albertsons $2.89 (yup a whole dollar...). Chicken?! Uhm yeah...6 chicken breast at Ralph's is about 10-11 dollars. FOUR chicken breasts at Albertsons was $11. To top it off.....this is the THIRD TIME in 6 months I've purchased the chicken and.....THE CHICKEN IS RUBBERY AND CHEWY! Talk about disgusting! I'm so angry right now. I've not called them yet because I'm just still fuming. I marinaded, while still unpacking, doing laundry, sorting and exhausted from our trip *you all know how exhausting this can be* (mind you...cilantro is $.79 here but they literally give you a handful of it. Ralph's has it for $.99 AND you get the whole plant! I mean seriously....what a huge rip off) the chicken with lime juice, cilantro, cumin, paprika, TONS OF GARLIC (minced and mashed). Hey Albertsons....just because you cater to Malone and Calabasas crowd does not mean that they just want to urinate their money away. We cooked the chicken the next day. THE CHICKEN WAS SO RUBBERY and had a funky taste even my marinade could not erase. We threw two of the breasts away and tried to eat the last two breasts (with that horrible funky taste of chicken thawed and refrozen a few times-that disgusting gamey slightly rancid flavor). In the end, I threw away our entire dinner (which contained a batch of green beans because it came in contact with the chicken and that taste!) and made a salad of baby herb salad (chopped), chopped romaine, chopped smoked turkey & ham, tomatoes, carrots, olives and croutons....served with garlic naan bread. I gave an extra star because Albertsons is the only place I can't get Black Forest Turkey and smoked mozzarella. That's it. Just made the fruit salad with watermelon, honeydew and cantaloupe from our purchase Sunday....watermelon is too ripe and honeydew is stringy and so ripe it fell apart. Cantaloupe was good though. Another $8 down the trash. Ugh! You've lost a customer Albertsons. Even the smoked mozzarella and Black Forest turkey can't save you. Sad because I do love their staff. Oh...and they took away apple pay. Another no no in my book with a teenager who "borrows my cash" and a two and a half year old who plays with my cards often.... Weird store. It's in a great location for people live in Calabasas around the more northern area because there really isn't much out there( market wise)Employees are fine. Very friendly.The market itself is just weird. I can't put my finger on it. They don't have a whole lot of brands and their selection can be sparse at times and then full. My Mom however, told me that sometimes they have samplings of their wines. Drinking while you shop? Couldn't get any better than that.I moved back here from Northern California and when I found out they were related to Safeway at least I could use my Safeway card! That made me happy. I enjoyed going here for sushi everyday. The people who work here are friendly. I'm not sure why but I was asked if I had my receipt after I ate today because somebody apparently thought I stole the sushi which was ridiculous and embarrassing. I didnt have the receipt on me but the transaction had cleared in the self check out if they had checked their system and if I was being ovserved on camera they could clearly see me wait for my receipt to print out. Which actually seems pretty rude and presumptuous of them given the fact that I sat down for 15 minutes in the cafe area. What thief steals something and then sits down? I left a tip that thoroughly explains my opinion of this pharmacy. I've lived on both coasts of the country and have been to at least 5 different pharmacies and this one takes the cake for shittiest customer service and lack of care for the customers. I can't even count the amount of times they have either refused to give me my prescription or tried to tell me my insurance won't pay for it one random day. If you are unfortunate enough to be forced to go to this pharmacy, please be warned- STAY AWAY FROM THAT MEAN FAT ASIAN LADY! she never does her god damn job and always refuses to pick up the phone. Pharmacy is the worst ever, blonde hair Asian lady with blue eyes is straight up rude. Expect 1-2 hour wait to get your prescription at least and don't expect a hello either. Luckily for me I only go to the doctor for emergencies. Kramers pharmacy is so much better, you will be in and out in a flash. If your sick and your doctor calls in your prescription don't expect her to check her fax but every three hours. Then when you get there she will ask you to come back in an hour or so. I love the employees in the regular market but this pharmacy deserves no stars which is what I would give it if that was an option. read more

Being in this part of town for lunch can get monotonous after while. So why not try the grocery store? They have ready made rotisserie chicken fresh deli salads, produce, and everything else a market should have! The lunch selection is pretty good at the deli. If I need comfort food, I'll get the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and beans. The potato wedges are good, too. My favorite salad is the Southwestern Shrimp with the roasted green pepper cilantro dressing and tortilla chunks. Absolutely tasty! Grab a banana, yogurt, or ice cream bar and your set. read more

I normally enjoy shopping at Albertsons, but Vilma in the Seafood Department was so incredibly rude today I will never go back! I was the only person at the seafood counter so it's not like I was holding up the line. When I asked for a different piece of fish than the one she selected for me, she angrily shouted at me, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!" I think she was going to walk away, but thought better of it. I live 5 minutes from this Albertson's and once again I came home tonight telling myself "I will NEVER shop there again!" I feel a little better seeing that I'm not the only one who has come to this conclusion.... the staff at this store are ridiculously rude and surly. They rarely have more than one check stand open (there's always a long line and I end up spending another 15 minutes in the store just getting through checkout), they do have a bay of self-checkout but if you're buying alcohol you can't use it, which in turn ends up creating a log jam at the one check stand. I've complained about this on a number of occasions (waiting 15 mins to buy a couple bottles of wine is crazy!) and I'm always told that it is state law that alcohol can't be sold at self-checkout yet Ralph's, Von's and Pavillion's allow you to. It's hard for me to believe that those chains are breaking the law! Forget finding a manager, I asked to speak to one and a young checker (about 18 years old) nervously told me she had been left in charge. Well that explains a lot! I will drive an extra 5 mins to the Commons or Agoura to shop at Ralph's or really ANY other grocery chain to avoid the nasty attitudes from the staff in the future! read more

I have to agree with many of the things that were mentioned by the first reviewer. The customer service here isn't just that great. I don't expect alot, but when people are not happy are have attitudes it really shows. Especially in the work place. When you ask them questions, they give you really short answers. They give dirty looks, almost to a point I don't trust them. i rather drive the extra distance and shop at Ralph's. My visits there are much more enjoyable. read more

I am a person with East Coast clients and so I work ungodly hours with the jackrabbits and coyotes and the full moon decorating my commute at 5am. I have only lived in this area a year but I love its beauty and I have found some amazing people who share my crazy hours and make life so much nicer when you are smuffing out your hair and pulling dollars and dimes out of your pocket before eyes are open. Albertson's, on the corner of Los Virgenes and Agoura Road, is open at 5am. The staff of the grocery store are great and very helpful and you never have to wait a long time for someone to come to a register. They know their customer service. For almost a year I have bought my breakfast a few days per week at the in-store Starbucks, which is right inside the entrance. Instead of picking through all the old men who go to hit on the baristas at the outside Starbucks in the parking lot or the one in Westlake Village which is even more full of latte lotharios (eesh) so you can't make an order, you have to try Albertson's Starbucks. Drake is the manager now, who followed Emma Jo who was also amazing. Emma Jo moved to Simi so we can still see her at another store. Yes! The staff is very very helpful and start my day off right. I seriously hate coming to this market and will only do so if I am absolutely forced. The service is terrible. It's not unusual for only one or two registers open, even at the busiest of times. This grocery store is a very short distance from where I live, so I find myself stopping here from time to time. They have a good selection and most produce and deli items look like they are fresh and of high quality. My only complaint is that occasionally when you walk around the meat department there is a rancid odor, which makes me severely unhappy for the 3 seconds that I have to endure it. read more

With a little more perspective, after visiting many local supermarkets many times, I am updating my review of this Calabasas store. Yeah, there aren't enough staff members to help with customer service. If you can get by that fact this store's produce section is clearly superior to any other big box supermarket within 5 miles. Selection is good and freshness is outstanding. The meat section is very good, too, for a non- high end grocer. No need to go store-to-store to find high quality produce, as this Albertson's gets produce right, and remember to bring your own shopping bags, as this is bag-free Calabasas. If only Albertson's could commit to proper staffing this store could be almost perfect. read more

The Albertsons store on Agoura road is the best. During the Woolsey Fire about 4:00am many of the people in Liberty Canyon and surrounding areas quickly evacuated and we all converged to our neighborhood shopping center knowing it would be safe. Hundreds of neighbors with their pets waited out the fire. About 6:00am employees began to set up tables outside. They provided bottle water and breakfast sweets for the many people who had been there as early as 2am. The entire area was also without power including the store. The employees continue to provide food and comfort to everyone seeking safety. As the fire approached the back side of the store and smoke became unbearable they provide face masked. Finally the employees were forced to retreat into the store and allowed anyone outside to wait for the firestorm to pass. Everyone of the employees stayed because they wanted to help their customers. Today even though the entire city is under evacuation Albertsons remains open and ready to serve the community. I went there to shop this afternoon and the store was fully stocked and employees ready to do whatever they could. I will be forever grateful to my neighborhood store and the family of employees for the comfort and safety they provided to my family in a disastrous time. I hope the company management is as proud of them as the citizens of Calabasas Hills are. read more

I just came from here .... I want to like the store. It is convenient for me. BUT...spent 20 minutes waiting for them to honor a special that was advertised in 2 places in the store ... clerk didn't believe it. Sent a bagger to check. He came back and confirmed, and it STILL took another 5 minutes for someone to refund the overcharge. (It was a $5 savings or I would have just left). Add to this that they are frequently out of things I am looking for ... and simply don't stock other things I want to buy. I am about to give up. Vons and Ralphs try harder, and then there is always Costco. Just really poor management. Oh, and I agree with the person who commented about shopping carts....you risk your car every time you come here. read more

The bakery is phenomenal! I had a photo cake being done in a 24 hour turn around. There was a problem, but didn't pick up my messages until an hour before I was to pick up cake. I walked in thinking the worst ( when I had one done at Ralphs, and there was an issue,they didn't even bother to call. The person in charge of designing just sent out a below acceptable cake) Albertson's cake designer made the most beautiful cake and worked with the issue of the picture. This cake rivals Hansen's Cakes which would have cost $100 plus. I so appreciate the cake designer being able to roll with the issue and make it work out. read more

I wasn't a big fan of Albertsons some years ago but I can honestly say that I am pleasantly impressed! This location is near my job and it offers a wide variety items but not just your typical groceries. They have a great produce section, organic products, flowers, to go salads, sandwiches, alacarte and I was most impressed with their tea selection...I found tea that I usually have to go to Whole Foods for! I also love that they have a Starbucks inside this location, which there's hardly ever a line because everyone goes to the free standing Starbucks across the street. Also, the best part is their sale prices are "true" sale prices, no awards card or phone number needed. read more

Surprised by all of the reviews complaining about the service. I shop here regularly and it is always well staffed - and the staff is always extremely helpful and friendly. I have never had any trouble finding assistance here. They also have a large assortment of otc drugs, greeting cards, wine/beer/liquor, stationery, small gifts, beach supplies, a full service Chase bank etc. so it's our go-to neighborhood "general store". Their regular prices are a lot cheaper than Gelson's, on par with Ralphs and slightly higher than Trader Joe's. However their sales are amazing (today Health Choice Meals were $1.69 each & soda was 3 12-packs for $10) ! So if you shop the sales you will do better than Ralphs or Vons. My only quibble is the long lines after work (avoid between 5 & 6). (NOTE: the pharmacy which is independently owned by someone else is the absolute worst.) read more

This is by far my favorite Albertsons. This is a great place to go for lunch. They serve hot food at the deli and have a pick 3 option where you can get 1 mest and 2 side for $6. Also, PLEASE look at the expiration date on pre packed meats, and dairies since several time they were already expired. I have been going to this store since it has been open. I have been to other Albertsons and found them to be dirty and less appealing. The meat section has a nice selection of meat, seafood, and ready-to-grill items. The quality of the fish is always better than other supermarkets I frequent.
