We've enjoyed breakfast here in the past, but the first time for dinner. Service started slow but was great once he came to the table. We ordered the rolls to start and loved the pub cheese, bacon jam, and salted citrus butter (my favorite!) that accompanied them. My daughter ordered the short ribs, and we ordered the burgers. The burgers were huge, and the fries were the right amount of crisp for a steak fry. Highly recommend for a quiet and reasonably priced meal. read more

Food here is a lot better than less expensive than in the theme parks! In order I would rank from top to bottom from what I've tried: 1) orange juice! Freshly squeezed and delicious with a nice zing 2) lobster and corn bisque, there wasn't really any lobster in the soup except for the garnish up top however it was loaded with cream and flavor, a tad kick to it and mostly loaded with potatoes 3) seafood pot pie: this was good except there was hardly any fish and it didn't really have a seafood flavor. Mostly loaded with peas and carrots and the pastry up top is very thin and airy 4 fish and chips: this was good don't get me wrong I just am not into fried foods but felt obligated to get it. It's batter is very light and crispy and the fish inside was soft and flakey. Comes with grilled lemon and a tarter sauce. I had to ask for hot sauce because I need something to cut through the fat when I eat fried foods. 4) buffalo cauliflower: good to share but it is too saucy and tangy for my liking Overall solid service and place to grab a bite to eat if you're staying at this hotel. Came here for breakfast. Loved the entrees they had. They have an option to add a buffet to your entree as the buffet has some pastries and fruit. Which is a perfect balance to the entree. I got the shrimp and grits and it was amazing. Someone else in my party got the chocolate waffle which they said was amazing. The service was amazing and attentive. Really enjoyed breakfast here this morning. They have a buffet, but it doesn't include any proteins (eggs or meat), so there's no option to order just the buffet, you have to get an entrée (you can also order an entrée alone). The buffet had a good variety of baked goods and fruit, yogurt parfaits, etc., and I would've been happy to just get this as my meal, especially if they threw some eggs in there. My favourite items from the buffet were the lemon poppyseed muffin and the overnight oats. I had the Crab Cake Benedict as my entrée. This was really good! The crab cakes were pretty thick and made with larger shreds of crabmeat, and there was lots of spinach too. I could have used a sharper or more serrated knife to cut the English muffin, but once I got the hang of the technique it wasn't too difficult. All of the staff was very sweet. Entrée prices run a little steep just like everything at Disney, but the buffet, which costs $23, is surprisingly a good deal and well worth the few extra dollars from buying an entrée a la carte. An entrée alone is definitely a filling meal, but adding the buffet is good for what we did, where we just had a snack and drink instead of full lunch, and dinner later. read more

This was not my first time coming here but it is my first visit this year. I was a little disappointed as I was with my family and had high hopes that they too would love it. Tonight's visit was terrible! We were seated 15 minutes after our reservations time, then once we were at the table, no one greeted us for another 15 minutes! I understand about being short staffed but at least say hello within 5 min or something! The place wasn't busy. Our server was attentive at first, got our drinks and appetizers placed and didn't wait very long for them to come out. Buffalo-style cauliflower was very saucy, could have been roasted a little longer but was still good. Even though it was literally just cauliflower and buffalo sauce. Truffles fries was great, truffle oil wasn't over powering. We ordered the BBQ chicken Flatbread without the onions and peppers because of my nephew but it had a kick to it so he didn't really care too much for it. But we loved it! The Parker House Rolls was delicious with all of the spread. The bacon jam mixed with the cheddar cheese was yum just as the server recommended. I ordered the short ribs and loved it! My sister and her bf ordered the NY strip, they weren't as pleased. First, they had to wait 5 minutes for a steak knife. Once they received it, their steaks weren't cooked to how they ordered it. Their steaks were over-cooked and had no flavor. Med-rare came out as med-well. Had it re-cooked and by the time it came back everyone was already finished eating. The side of mac and cheese was also forgotten about it for the other meal. The watercress salad that came in our plate was a great add-on. We then ordered our desserts. Yes, it also took a while to come. The flourless 12-layer chocolate cake was delicious! The Mango pound cake, however, had a consistency of panna cotta. The apple pie cobbler was also great, but I did ask for an additional scoop of ice cream as the one on top of it was melted. My complimentary birthday dessert was also another favorite! We literally sat there for another 20 minutes just to get our check. Overall, the entire experience was terrible. Our server was rarely seen the entire time. A nice place to go if you don't have dining reservations at EPCOT, or you want a break from the crowds. Our server and the hostess get an A for effort and having the Disney cast member spirit. The food was just OK. The burger was good, but the fish was awfully greasy. Fries on both dishes were cold. It took forever to get a replacement order. The restaurant is beautiful and laid back. It's in the Yacht Club lobby. You can walk or catch Disney Transport from EPCOT. I'm sure there are other ways to get there from the parks, but we were in EPCOT. Nice wine list and cocktail options Not sure I'd go back. Lots of better options around that area of WDW. read more

We only had breakfast there. I had dinner reservations for another night but decided to cancel after experiencing my very average breakfast. There's a breakfast buffet which has pastries, oatmeal, cold cereal, breads, cold cuts, smoked salmon. If you want eggs and breakfast meats (sausage, bacon, etc), then you need to order from the menu. We were on the deluxe dining plan which meant we could order from the menu AND get food from the buffet. It's a ton of food if you do it that way. I ordered the breakfast protein bowl. I have a dairy allergy and apparently, according to the server, that's pretty much the only thing I could have that was non-dairy (it's also vegan). I'm able to make scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, and poached eggs at home and it's dairy free so why isn't it available in a Disney restaurant? My protein bowl was rather bland until I covered it with the carrot-ginger dressing. That helped a little. It was basically a salad and not really something I wanted to eat at 7:30 in the morning, tho. My husband's eggs Benedict was already room temp when served to him. He wasn't happy about that. We did get some fruit from the buffet. The Bloody Mary was good except someone really went overboard with the pepper. I actually wished I had just eaten from the buffet. My breakfast salad was not appealing. There really should be an option for poached eggs on the menu for those of us who are dairy allergic. That's easy for a professional kitchen to make. Just because I have a dairy allergy doesn't mean I like eating vegan. This was a breakfast I hope to never repeat. So I cancelled our dinner reservations and I'm not going to return. read more

Great sit down restaurant located inside the Yacht Club Hotel and Resort, at Walt Disney World. The menu is not too overwhelming, great lunch selections. Between two of us shared the burger with fries, a wedge salad and crab cakes. All were very good. The only downside was refill of drinks were a bit on a slower side, as well as when it came time to pay for our bill. My family and I ate breakfast here and holy cow, it was a delicious experience. We arrived at 7:30 and were first seated for our reservation within 2 or 3 minutes. The continental buffet was great. The fresh fruit and pastries were fun but the stars of the morning were the main dishes. My omelette was absolutely fantastic, cooked perfectly and had so much flavor. My wife's eggs Benedict stole the show. We're from Baltimore, so we love Maryland blue crab and when our server told us the chef who created the dish was from the next town over from us, we had to try it - seriously, the flavors were so good. A lot of the reviews on here are negative, but I also see those are mainly based on breakfast. I knew this place had gotten a renovation a little over a year ago, so I have been wanting to try it. We decided to go to celebrate a new work position I received and were not disappointed. Yacht Club Resort is such a beautiful resort and this restaurant fits right in with the theme. The dining room has deep blues and nautical nods without being cheesy. After the recommendations about the Parker House rolls we knew we had to get them. These were incredibly good. We could have just gorged on those. They come piping hot, brushed with butter and flakes of sea salt. The spreads were Pub Cheese, Bacon Jam, and Citrus Butter. There was way too much spread for the amount of rolls, they could definitely cut back on that and still have a nice portion. Our sever did bring us an additional three rolls by request. We also opted for one of the cocktails on the menu, it was vodka with cranberry and grapefruit juice. It was refreshing. For our main we got the Bacon Burger and the New England Boil with add on of a whole lobster. The burger was moist and juicy and served with fresh fries tossed in truffle oil. The boil was a very healthy portion of seafood. There were about 5 shrimp that were a nice size, 5 littleneck clams, some chorizo, corn on the cob, and a whole beautiful lobster. Lobster is very easy to over-cook but this was steamed just right and looked amazing on top of the dish. The difference in price of the bowls is $27 as a shrimp boil, and for only $13 more you get the lobster with it for a total of $40. Our server was very friendly and talked with us a few times. She heard we were celebrating and even brought us two glasses of champagne on the house. Overall I would love to dine here again and think it needs to be given a chance. If you don't want to leave the boardwalk area for the evening and want something more simple this is a good place to make a reservation. Our friends were visiting this resort as DVC members, so they invited us to meet them for breakfast one morning. I have only ever walked through this resort, never setting foot inside the restaurant, so I was game. Everything inside it has a nautical theme, as you might expect from a Yacht and Beach Club themed resort. The food, at least for breakfast, tends to be the standard type of breakfasts, though, with eggs, bacon, sausage, french toast, etc, as opposed to a seafood driven meal. We all picked different selections. Some of them were very standard, such as the American Breakfast and Eggs Benedict, but others became very adventurous, with the Salted Caramel Apple French Toast and the Dark Chocolate Waffles. Being on the adventurous side, I went with the French Toast, which was good, but sampling some of the other fare around the table, in retrospect I wish I would have gotten the Dark Chocolate Waffles. They were not as dessert like as they sound, being a bit lighter. The Caramel Apple toast was good, but next time I'm going in a different direction. read more

Our reservation time was 7:45pm. We were seated 30 minutes later. Not sure what the hold up was but we got a drink at the bar and walked around the resort. I was super hungry by the time we sat. We started with the bread service with 3 different spreads. Spreads were amazing (salted butter, butter with bacon and a pimento cheese spread). Next we had the compass and ale salad the buffalo cauliflower appetizer. For entree I had the New England seafood pot pie. This was the highlight of my meal! The bread on top was delicious. Thin and flakey. Dish was so tasty. Shrimp, Scallops, Jumbo Lump Crab, and Fish with Baby Carrots, Pearl Onions, Peas, Potatoes....oh my. For dessert we had the apple cobbler. Service was slow, but our waiter was friendly. It took so long for bread and food to come out. Our Resevations again was 7:45pm. It's fresh, soft, tender, flaky, and the bread is crispy toasted on the edges with a fluffy white interior! It's not overly dressed like other lobster rolls! It's light and flavorful! The potato chips are made in house which is yummy and crispy and lightly salted with flakey sea salt. The steak frites was cooked perfectly. A&C doesn't get a lot of love on Yelp. Yes, there are many good restaurants nearby. We stopped by for the Christmas brunch. Basically, you order an entree, and get pastries, cheese, oatmeal and fruit at the buffet bar. No character dining, so this is a great place to go without the kids. I ordered the French toast. It came with an apple filling and was very sweet, but excellent. My daughter had the shrimp and grits and enjoyed it. The shrimp were very large and tasty. My wife did not care for A&Cs eggs Benedict. There was not enough hollandaise sauce for her liking. If you enjoy chocolate, get the chocolate waffle. The folks at the table next to ours ordered it, and you will not be disappointed. Lots of chocolate. Christmas brunch was slightly expensive at $35 per person, but overall we were happy with it. Next time, we plan to wear matching pajamas to the brunch, as we saw some folks doing that. Mike from Naples FL was our wonderful server at the Ale and Compass. Hands down my favorite dining experience on my Disney Vacation. The best thing? It's only one dining credit if you're on the Disney Dining plan. I would say it's a finer dining experience. Our waiter, Mike was able to answer all of our questions about the menu and I liked the offerings on this menu the most. Also he was able to customize any dish. I ordered a shrimp dish served on fluffy noodles it was absolutely divine! The desserts were great too and the portions were generous. I wish I had been able to go at least one more time. It's such a beautiful view too looking at the water (obviously it depends on where you sit) I loved the dessert, it was like an apple cobbler that I chose and others at the table got the 7 layer cake. One of the desserts offered to children were the macaroon ice cream sandwiches in vivid pink and purple fun colors. I would have loved to try this but I was filled to capacity. I took my husband here for his birthday in October and it was our first time dining at this Disney restaurant. I always try and explore new restaurants for special occasions and I was excited to go here because I love this resort and knew that before and after dinner we could wander the boardwalk and maybe even get some ice cream? (well. that didn't happen but the wandering did). My husband got the steak (which was good!) and I got the pasta.. (it was ok... but for the price?) The best part of the dinner were the kids meals because they came with some of the most legit desserts I have ever seen. GET THE ICE CREAM SANDWICHES. Do it. Here's the part that got to me.... The infamous Parker House Rolls. We HAD to order this. We are a sucker for bread service and Parker House rolls are some of my favorites. The server came out with 4 rolls and honestly they aren't very big so I was a little shocked how many you get for the price. You also get 3 spreads with them. Don't fool yourself... the cheese spread it where it's at. Ask for double ;) Our kids are bread monsters and quickly devoured theirs and some of ours so I kindly asked if we could have more. Our waiter was super nice and said he would try and get more and then mentioned..."we used to give 6 instead of 4 but some people wouldn't eat them all so we stopped." Um.... so I am still paying the same price for less food???? Nice. Wish I hadn't of heard that. Anyhoo. He made up for it by fetching us more bread and we had some very happy and thankful kiddos. Please go back to serving the correct amount of bread... especially when serving a family of four. Or offer different amounts and prices based on party sizes, please. All in all we had a nice evening. Service was a bit slow and usually it isn't a bother but with a two year old getting close to bedtime it becomes rather urgent. Great American breakfast! This is our favorite spot at Disney for breakfast. We always order the American breakfast entree. It doesn't look like much when you get the plate but I never leave hungry. They brought back the buffet this year and you can get the buffet with your entree for a few dollars more but I haven't done that because I feel like the entree is more than enough food. The American breakfast comes with your choice of eggs, either sausage or bacon (the sausage is excellent). a roasted tomato, and a white and sweet potato type hash along with either white or wheat bread. Was really surprised to see all the negative reviews for this place especially since most other breakfast options are powered eggs and mickey waffles or other sugary bakery items. We've had spotty service but have always been pleased with the quality of the food at Ale & Compass for breakfast specifically. So, there are two Ale & Compass pages here on Yelp. One was created as a new restaurant and one is an update to the former Captain's Grille (which is what Ale replaced). Since this is the "claimed" Yelp page, I'm going to post my review here as an update to my Captain's Grille one. The whole page issue leaves me wondering - is Ale & Compass a renovation of Captain's Grille, or is it a brand new restaurant? Either way, I wanted to see what they did with the space. I was a fan of the former restaurant so I made reservations with both optimism and skepticism. Straight off, the aesthetics are much more upscale than Captain's Grille (though not as much as the neighboring Yachtsman's Steakhouse). It still has a nautical theme, thought while Captain's was more "ahoy matey", Ale is more "welcome to my Yacht". I was a fan of the color scheme - deep blues and greys paired with low lighting really created a welcoming place to dine. The menu isn't large, and being in the Yacht Club it contains mostly seafood dishes. While a cast member earlier recommended their flatbreads, the garlic shrimp caught my eye as an app; these came served in a small cast iron skillet with lemon in a garlic sauce. The shrimp were nice and hot and the flavor was totally there. A long toasted focaccia complimented the dish and was perfect for dipping in all that excess garlic sauce. For my main I had the trout - this dish was just okay. I learned I'm not the biggest fan of trout (don't ask me why I ordered it), but besides that the components of dish didn't seem to compliment each other at all. It was served with broccolini (extra points for that), cornbread cubes, and tomato in a light cream sauce. Everything was good, but they just didn't meld together. Service was good, Disney magic as per usual. Overall, Ale puts out a solid offering. I wouldn't say the food was amazing, but it wasn't bad and I'm glad I experienced it. If you're staying in an Epcot resort then this is a good option for a light lunch or dinner. read more

I am a foodie. I love good food, but I also will never steer someone towards food I don't like. Also to a bad experience. I will give the pros and cons. Pros: -kids steak is super good (I'm sure the adult steak is too) -dessert was good -the manager was friendly and asked for my niece who was dressed as a princess' autograph and made her say. Cons: -The lobster Mac and cheese was awful. It tasted like someone poured a bottle of cumin in it. Was not how you would ever expect a garlic Mac & cheese to taste. -the clam pizza wasn't too good either, and i had high hopes, especially since I love pizza and clams. My dad likes it, but personally, I've had WAY better. -we had a reservation and waited an hour past it. They also were not very apologetic and did not offer anything to us -the service was very slow and the wait was long even though it was not packed at all. All in all, I feel if I were to come here again, I would have to get the steak, as my niece's steak was delicious, and I am open to trying it again, but sadly we had a terrible experience, which is unlike Disney. read more

Came here for breakfast a few times because we were staying at the Beach Club and it was very convenient. But the service is always really slow even though there is never anyone else dining in the restaurant. Tried many things: strawberry cornbread waffles, blueberry bacon pancakes, french toast, breakfast flatbread. Each one of these were just meh. The best thing I had here was probably the breakfast flatbread, but I got an ENTIRE pizza! Just one or two small slices would have been fine. I also tried a latte once and it was terrible.
