We had a lunch reservation at 12:10 on a Tuesday and the restaurant was empty. I like the check-in process that Disney uses as you can wait outside until they text you that your table is ready. Our host was full of personality and gave us a nice table. The decor is very yacht like, and the room is a bit dark. The menu is one you have to pull up on your phone. There isn't a lot of variety, but enough that we had no problem finding something to order. Our server was friendly and efficient. Our drinks came quickly and our food wasn't far behind. Presentation was nice and my food was nice and hot. The hamburger was served with caramelized onions, Vermont cheddar cheese, tomato and lettuce and a flavored mayonnaise. The sandwich was messy to eat, but had great flavor. The bun was a bit stale and was falling apart, but it still worked. The fries were simple, but good. My one complaint is that our server was sweeping the carpet around our feet while we were eating. This place is nice, and easy access from the lobby of the Yacht Club. The food is pretty good, though portions are on the light side for the price. The hosts were very nice and friendly, and they absolutely nailed our wait time for a table (10 minutes). The service though...was very much a challenge. Our server was friendly and fun, so I don't think the issue was so much with her as it was the overall workings of the restaurant. I think the kitchen may have been a little slow, and I'm not sure the food runners were that attentive when food was ready. All in all, based upon this experience (maybe I caught them on a bad day?) this place is at the bottom of my list for resort restaurants...if you've visiting here, I'd much more highly recommend the lounge and/or Beaches & Cream for a more unique experience. read more

The lunch menu is pretty limited and may not work for most people. I was looking for something basic and a cheeseburger fit the bill for me. The burger was a decent size, the bun fresh. My wife (Celiac) was able to get a veggie omelet with egg whites and they offered her gluten-free pastries if she wanted to to do the breakfast buffet. I ordered the crab cake benedict for my entree as part of the breakfast buffet. It was tremendous! Hollandaise sauce was perfect and plenty of crab in the crab cake. With the buffet, it was $23, which was very reasonable. The buffet had your typical assorted pastries as well as country gravy and cheddar biscuits. Conflicted on many levels. First off: this is incorrectly labeled as having a character breakfast on some Disney websites. I can confidently say that at least on Tuesday mornings, there is no character breakfast here. Instead, it's medium upscale dining. Value: the food was cooked correctly for the most part and again, mostly we were pleased with the actual quality and, in general, quantity of the food (we did a la carte as the buffet seemed to be a terrible add on in terms of both quality and quantity for most dishes). Nonetheless, the prices were high, with the cheapest option on the breakfast menu being a $14 flatbread with cheese, meats, an egg, and arugula. Other dishes seemed to be a bit more expensive and hovered around $20 for dishes such as French toast, 2 eggs with some sides, etc. Despite not getting the buffet add on, we did peruse it - it isn't much more than you'd find at a free hotel continental breakfast - some overnight oats, pre frozen cinnamon buns, pre-made mini muffins, and so on. Service: friendly, cordial. However, we got dishes to our table sporadically timed, and we got some random add ons like butter, jam, and ketchup after we had started. Drinks came in incorrectly and some of our food was missing or incorrectly delivered (all rectified by the staff quickly but still not what our expect at an establishment like this). We were seated approximately 4 minutes after our reservation time. Overall: could be improved and marked clearly on Disney publications that there is NO character breakfast here. read more

Everything at ale and compass was fine however I don't think I would go here again. We got the parker house rolls and the buffalo cauliflower for appetizers. The parker house rolls came with lemon butter, pimento cheese spread and bacon jam. They were good but way over priced for what you get, honestly there are other places on property that you can get free bread that's better than this. The cheese spread was my favorite, however it was very very mild pimento cheese. My mom said that the bacon jam was weird but it was okay when you mixed it with the pimento cheese spread. The cauliflower was the best thing but I wish it would have been cooked a little bit more or that we would have been given a steak knife with it. The pieces were HUGE and honestly kind of hard to eat. This is somewhat spicy with the buffalo sauce but does come with a sauce to dip them in if you would like. For our entrees my mom got the short ribs that came with veggie mash and an arugula salad. She said it was okay, she really wished the veggies were out of the mashed potatoes since it was just literal whole veggies in it. I had the veggie pappardelle pasta. I still a month later can't tell you if I really enjoyed this dish or not it was weird. The sauce reminded me of beef stroganoff which as a vegetarian really threw me off. I had to add salt and pepper from the table as it was very lacking in that department. Overall neither of us loved our entrees but they weren't horrible. Pleasantly surprised. Enjoyed it so much we went twice within our week stay here at Yacht Club. Reservations are highly recommended as I don't think there's a good chance they're taking walk-ins at the moment. Despite a COVID revised menu, there were still plenty to choose from. Both times, I had the plant based protein bowl because it was just THAT good. The sausage was flavorful. BF tried the oven brick chicken on our arrival day and the pappardelle pasta w/shrimp on our last night and was extremely pleased with both of them. Truffle fries were freakin fantastic and hit the spot! The menu have a pretty extensive cocktail/wine list to pair with your entrees. The ambiance was classy. A great dining option to relax and take a breather for a bit from the hustle & bustle of the theme parks. I was on Disney property for business and not to enjoy the parks. Needed to find a dining spot near the hotel. Checked Yelp and decided the walk in the cool night air would also build my appetite. Best to make a reservation anywhere in Disney but it was too much of a hassle to navigate the many prompts on Disneys dining reservations number- you can't just call the restaurant. You are required to provide a credit card and if you bail, they charge a cancellation fee. Walt grabs your wallet at every turn. The restaurant was nautical and well appointed. No Disney characters to be found. The place was crowded and a bit noisy. Everyone seemed hyper from the parks. A nice selection of menu items but my eyes were drawn immediately to the seafood pot pie, a mix of Shrimp, Scallops, Jumbo Lump Crab and fish with Baby Carrots, Pearl Onions, Peas, Potatoes, and Cream with a Flaky Crust ($25) Incredibly tasty. The crust was light and complimented the contents. I started with the Ale & Compass Salad. Watercress, Sorghum, Pumpkin Seeds, Rainbow Carrots, Beets, and Radish with Lemon-Balsamic Vinaigrette ($9). A welcome change from ho hum garden salads in many restaurants. Service was fairly quick and the server was friendly and helpful. The four stars is for the dinner and service. Dining out traveling as someone with severe food intolerances can be incredibly challenging but the Disney resort restaurants do a pretty great job when it comes to having really clearly defined menus for allergens. They're listed a little different than in MN (usually marked with a GF or gfo) where they have an allergen menu with all the allergens they can accommodate per item. So some might be only for dairy or nuts and some could be for those plus gluten. When you book ahead you can list in your reservation form the allergen for each guest & they print an allergen ticket out to set on your table as well. Our server for the meal was fantastic and the staff were all so Disney haha, very kind and helpful even as they were completely slammed & I felt terrible having to ask about the safety of some of the drinks because of how busy they were but they were incredibly accommodating and kind about it. (Not sure her name but the younger blonde bartender who worked the evening of 4/13/24 is who I am referring to- you dealt with an entitled guest so gracefully prior to us and you were absolutely amazing.) There weren't as many gfo for starters at this restaurant but the service and the food made up for it. We had a fantastic time and loved the food! My second time staying at the Yacht Club, first time eating here though! We had a reservation for 3 for 10:25, checked-in and we were seated by 10:35. We came here for Mother's Day lunch with a party of 6. Although we had a reservation, we still waited about 40 minutes with a 1:20 reservation. It was Mother's Day so we expected it to be busy. The lounge had open seating while we waited for a table though. I was excited to see Woodchuck draft on the menu but when I ordered it the server told me it was actually Angry Orchard and it was available in a bottle, not a draft. I ordered the pesto chicken salad sand which which comes with a side of chips. The sandwich is served on focaccia bread which is amazing but the chicken salad itself does not have any pesto in it. It's actually just basil mixed in with a chicken salad (no Parmesan, garlic, or pine nut flavor at all. Just pieces of dried basil). The chips weren't anything special either. This is a gorgeous resort and the restaurant is beautiful inside too but it's not something I would add to my "must do" list at Disney. The lounge would be a great place to stop if you were doing a boardwalk bar crawl though. read more

He asked us about our day, gave recommendations, and even gave us 3 extra rolls to go with our Parker House Rolls & Spreads. The food came out pretty quick and he checked in to make sure everything was good. Fish & Chips: Our planning could have been better but my family and I ended up ordered 3 of the fish & chips, with each order coming with 2 huge pieces of fish. The fish itself was cod and very similar to the fish & chip shop located in the UK pavilion at EPCOT. I tasted a lot of oil in my order, but my family said theirs was okay. The fries were steak fries and not super crispy. Parker House Rolls & Spreads: The parker house rolls and spreads are a fantastic bread service that comes with Citrus Butter, Bacon Jam, and Jalepeno Cheese Spread. My favorite thing to do is spread the citrus butter and bacon jam together for a bite! Maybe its because I had low expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised by Ale & Compass. Having stayed at Yacht Club, I decided to head down for breakfast to give it a shot. This place gets pretty crowded even on the weekdays, so reservations are recommended. After looking over the menu and doing some research, I decided on 3 different plates. The first was the Crab Cake Benedict. It was perfectly average. Not amazing, but not bad. It came on a huge plate, but the benedicts were a little small, so that was odd. They also give very little potatoes for the side. The second dish was the chocolate waffle with espresso mascarpone cream and chocolate shavings. It also comes with sides of sausage. The chocolate waffles were fluffy, chocolatey, and the cream chocolate/espresso was excellent. The last dish was the smoked salmon flat bread which had egg custard and roasted fennel soubise. I was a little concerned ordering this dish, but it was actually really delicious. The salmon was fresh and the egg custard gave it the creaminess to cut through the seafood flavor. I topped it all off by getting the Peru Alto Mayp coffee press pot, which essentially is just a french press. The coffee was better than all the other typical Joffrey's coffee, but still not great if you actually like coffee. Overall, the service was great, ambiance was nice with the boat theme, and the food was decent for what you pay. read more

Service was great , no bathrooms in restaurant you need to use the ones in hotel lobby. Kids cheesburger comes with steakfries and another side. ( i have not met anykids that care for non crunchy potatoey fries ). My seafood pot pie had lots of crust 6 shrimp 2 scallops some shredded mahi , not bad but expected to be more for the 31 bucks. First time here and it will now be one of the favorites to come back to. A somewhat different take to typical buffet breakfast, you can have the buffet that has cheddar biscuits and gravy, assorted fruits and pastries, and can have one of the entree items listed in the menu, this includes one beverage. Teas, coffee, and soft drinks are refillable but milk and juices are not refillable. The ambience is wonderful, seating is comfortable, and with most Disney dining the staff was top notch. For my entree I chose the American Breakfast, and was very pleased with the fluffy eggs, breakfast potatoes, and the delicious bacon. My coffee was very good also and my cup never went empty thanks to our waiter Lee. We were quite happy and amazed at the price also for being a more high end resort, it was actually cheaper than some regular restaurants outside of the Disney bubble. The ambiance was nice. It wasn't too busy which was nice. Our waitress was really nice and friendly. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. We waited an extremely long time for everything though. We waited over an hour and a half for our food to arrive and almost thirty minutes for our food order to be taken. We were in the restaurant for a really long time. My only other complaint is that the portion sizes of most of the meals were kind of small which is disappointing for the price. We were so disappointed with our breakfast experience at Ale and Compass at the Yacht Club this past week during our visit to WDW. We always book here because we have never had a bad meal here and staff is always friendly. The Menu has changed and definitely not for the better!! You can't even get toast to dip in your eggs- there is NO Bread available- how crazy is that? The eggs were soggy, bacon was fatty and homefries were not cooked thoroughly. I believe our meals were taken right from the buffet and not made to order. The cost of $17 a plate for that was ridiculous, especially for our party of 7. We are always up for changing something, but not when it compromises quality!!!! The staff was very friendly as usual but the meal was so disappointing that we had to write this review. Please bring back the fresh tasting, individually cooked menu please!!! We and many others will be taking this great place off our to do list if it remains the same as is currently offered. :( read more

This little known hidden bar is located about 30 feet from the Disney yacht club steakhouse! If you're not paying attention you'll walk right past it. It's a fantastic place to stop and have a drink or even a couple appetizers. We make a habit of stopping here every trip to have an old fashion at the bar. Fantastic staff and great drinks. They don't open till 4 o'clock! The bartenders are great for conversation and the theme, East Coast nautical, it's fun to take in. A must visit if you're visiting the boardwalk or just doing some type of "drink around". read more

It was the only restaurant we could find for lunch last minute, but it was well worth it (once we found it). lol I ordered the Wedge Romaine Salad and added the grilled chicken. Was messy to cut (thus a wedge.. lol), but it was decent. Husband ordered the lobster and corn chowder and thought it was good. Ordered the blackened fish taco (Mahi was the featured fish) and thought they were good; however, the amount of fish was small enough he combined 3 tacos into 2. Kids meals were a great deal .. and the max and cheese was amazing (mom may have cleaned up the scraps). :) $10 kids meal for a main dish, drink, side dish and dessert is the best deal in Disney IMO! Unfortunately, it took nearly an hour to get served, and I found that our server was very cold and rushed. The food had good flavor, but I found that my fries were cold and that my swordfish was a bit dry. Note: the shallot aioli with the fries is DELICIOUS. Overall, I was a bit disappointed. My WDW vacation started here with my first days breakfast here. I had seen the suggestion of breakfast here via a YouTube video. The review raved about the apple French toast. My wife loves chocolate so when she saw the chocolate waffles, it was easy to sell her on starting our vacation here. From start to finish, everything was wonderful. The waitress was attentive and the food was delicious. I was able to get iced coffee with an alternative milk as well as a wonderful meal. My sister-in-law and I shared the apple French toast and I had a side of scrambled eggs. My wife had the chocolate waffles and enjoyed them. The quantity of three was too many and she wound up sharing them with my chocolate loving sister-in-law! The restaurant decor is nice and upscale. It was a fantastic way to start the day. The breakfast/brunch buffet includes your choice of an entree (ranging from $12-19), drinks, plus fruits, pastries, yogurts, oatmeal, biscuits and gravy, cheeses, and various charcuterie for $23. For my entree, I ordered the Dark Chocolate Waffle with bacon on the side. The waffles were not too sweet and the dried cherry compote was a perfect complement. This restaurant was surprisingly good. I say that because we weren't expecting much. The place was called the Captain's Grille before it was remodeled. That restaurant wasn't terrible but it wasn't something you'd go out of your way for. Our server, Janet was delightful and veery helpful with suggestions from the menu. Our favorite thing we had was the Parker House rolls with spreads. The pub cheese spread was the best and far outshined the bacon jam (pretty good) and the citrus butter (skip it and get 2 pub cheeses!) The short rib was very good. It was tender with a savory red wine scented gravy that did not overpower. Would have like some more of that sauce! The root vegetable purée is mashed potatoes with a few carrot chunks and was very tasty as well. We got a side of Broccolini that tasted odd and was the one downside of the meal. The side of truffle fries was pretty good but if there was more than a microgram of truffle on them I'd be shocked. Another plus of Themis location is that if you're an early bird like me you can probably join the walk up list and be seated quickly.
