I hardly ever order salads...basically never with one exception. Their southwestern chicken salad is awesome. The best I have ever had I think. In Grand Junction for two days on business, came here my last night to "treat" myself. Sigh... Beer is expensive and I got the 21 dollar Rib-eye. Steak wasn't grilled correctly and it wasn't seasoned at all. GARBAGE! Place is pretty nice, but seems to rely on popularity rather than quality. I love ale house, it's a great time for yummy drinks at a reasonable price and delicious food! I got the fish and chips which was divine and a Moscow mule! Both were superb! The Ale House has great service and excellent food. Our issue is that we sat outside on the huge and beautiful outdoor patio. Our meal was ruined by people smoking at their tables. I am allergic to smoke and was miserable with allergy symptoms throughout our entire meal. We were shocked that they allowed smoking in their establishment, especially in Colorado where most places do not. For this reason, I'll never go back and go instead to one of their competitors down the road where smoking is not allowed. read more

Apps came out 5 minutes before our meal when order 30 minutes before we even ordered our meal. For a brewery you think you could at least serve beer. Nope, beer glass was always empty. read more

On a warm sunny afternoon, or beautiful summer evening, there is no better place to grab a beer than the Ale House Brewery's back deck and yard. I'm a huge fan of the atmosphere out back here, even though I prefer to patronize the downtown establishments over the sprawl. There is a nice selection of house drafts and visiting (including local) breweries. The food is solid; a definite notch above standard Colorado brewpub fare (but, still below the brewpub gastronomic creations one will find in Portland and Seattle.) For vegetarians, I recommend the portobello muffaletta--an excellent sandwich that, whether or not it is, does not scream "obligatory vegetarian offering". The marinated mushroom is itself flavorful; added to the olive and caper muffaletta and swiss, it's a sandwich that I would look forward to having again. read more

The beer was good but I wish they had flights were i can choose the beer instead of having them choosing it for me. The service was horrible! I saw our waiter when we ordered and that was it. My drank sat empty nearly the entire time I was there. The French dip was below average at best. The beef tasted frozen or refrigerated and the au ju was flavorless. Very unimpressed. It took nearly more than a half hour to get our bill when finished. My husband and I are in town for an Anniversary getaway and decided to try Ale House. We thought the food was wonderful. It was hot and came out very quickly. Our server John was fantastic. Some of the best service we have had in a long time. My husband had an Avalanche beer that was good but our server brought us an Agave Wheat to sample that we loved and had to go purchase more to take back to our hotel after dinner. This isn't the best brewery food I've ever had and I actually didn't try the beer until the next day at the street festival. I wasn't extremely impressed. The sweet potato chips were addictive but I felt sick after the ahi wrap and the tuna was not good quality. I don't know what I expected in the middle of Colorado. 4 stars because the menu has something for everybody and the outside area, if you can get a seat, is a relaxing way to spend a sunny afternoon. read more

I've been to the Ale House a couple of times and I've never been disappointed. The atmosphere is lively and if you're there during the summer the outdoor patio is a great place to hang out, eat, and drink a few beers. The staff has always been friendly and very helpful when recommending food or beers. My favorite meal there was the black bean burger which was loaded with delicious fillers like peppers and corn. This is one of the best black bean burgers I've had and it was fantastic coleslaw. The shaved steak sandwich was another good choice. It's served on a roll with havarti cheese and arugula. The sandwich was flavorful and rich; definitely worth trying. The jerk chicken was alright, nothing special. There are better options on the menu. The bratwurst plate with the red cabbage and garlic mashed potatoes was a perfect compliment to their beers. The meatloaf had veggies and sausage in it which I liked but some people didn't. I don't usually get dessert but I had to at the Ale House because of the mudd pie. It's loaded with toffee from Enstrom's (which is a great place to visit and load up on sweets if you have the time). The coffee ice cream matched the toffee well. If you have any room after dinner, I highly recommend this dessert. As for the beer, I'm a big fan of Breckenridge Brewery. I usually start off with the sampler which includes their seasonal. I really enjoy the ESB (extra special bitter) but that's an acquired taste and probably doesn't have the mainstream appeal. I really like the agave wheat, vanilla porter, and the lucky u IPA. They have a little of everything so you can surely find a beer that suits your taste. Although I enjoy the food, I'm definitely a bigger fan of the beer. read more

I was in GJ this past week and was NOTTTT blown away by the food. I had a half rack of ribs and they were quite tough. The waiter was pretty absent minded even though it didn't look incredibly busy. I mean, it's a good place to grab a beer and watch a game, but the food was mediocre at best. My hubs-to-be had a wrap of some kind that was truly underwhelming. read more

We found this place through yelp and even though it had bad reviews for food I wanted to check out some different Breckenridge beers so we chanced it. The reviews are right on and the food is definitely not good but we were hungry and tired after driving 12 hours and we ate most of what we ordered. I guess I should say the food itself wasn't awful it was just off. Everything was cold to lukewarm for starters. We ordered wings and a burger and fries and shared everything. It all came out together which was different and it was all on the cold side. The funny thing was even when the bartender asked us if the food was 'ok' he grimaced like he knew it couldn't be good. hahaha what?? Anyway we ended up with a brown ale, their red and then wanting something sweet we asked the bartender for suggestions and she quickly mixed up a tasty fruity lemonade with strawberry puree.
