We found this place through yelp and even though it had bad reviews for food I wanted to check out some different Breckenridge beers so we chanced it. The reviews are right on and the food is definitely not good but we were hungry and tired after driving 12 hours and we ate most of what we ordered. I guess I should say the food itself wasn't awful it was just off. Everything was cold to lukewarm for starters. We ordered wings and a burger and fries and shared everything. It all came out together which was different and it was all on the cold side. The funny thing was even when the bartender asked us if the food was 'ok' he grimaced like he knew it couldn't be good. hahaha what?? Anyway we ended up with a brown ale, their red and then wanting something sweet we asked the bartender for suggestions and she quickly mixed up a tasty fruity lemonade with strawberry puree. Wings were admirable (nice size not too much sauce) but a little heavy on the cayenne/paprika flavor (not your traditional tangy vinegar buffalo style) Laid Back Blonde to wash it all down. I'm giving it 4 stars for the overall experience .. 3 stars would be for the food though. It is actually pretty good now .. The food used to suck IMO, but it's been a lot better for the past 1-2 years or so ... One of the best places to grab drinks Wed-Saturday night. Nifty little brew house whose alcoholic wares we were unfortunately unable to sample due to needing to make Utah as the next stop on a road trip; nevertheless the food was outstanding (my wife had one of their salads, and I had a New York steak). We had a delicious meal here and good service. The outside looked inviting, but it was too hot this particular day. We didn't care for the ice tea, it did not taste brewed, (yes we are fussy ice tea drinkers) our waiter had no trouble with substituting our tea for a soda. The Ale House in Grand Junction was a great spot to grab a couple of beers and nosh, with a group of friends. The beer is directly from Breckenridge Brewing, so you get the traditional Avalanche Amber, 471 IPA, etc, which is good. They also had a good variety of guest taps from the NW (Deschutes and Bridgeport) and Stone in North County San Diego. The food was pretty traditional pub fare, my wife had a vegetarian burrito and I had the black bean burger, which were both average. 3 stars primarily because the server dropped some attitude when we requested 'no meat' on our nachos and proceed to provide TERRIBLE service for the remainder of the night. In fact, another server came by and apologized for the poor service we received and asked if she could do anything to pacify our needs. Would definitely return for the variety of beer and extensive menu, as well as the upbeat and happening atmosphere. read more

The Ale House has a fabulous patio with an outdoor bar. The atmosphere makes the restaurant. I highly recommend the Gladstoners. It's served in a very large mug and great summer drink. read more

We came here while during our first stop for college tours. My daughter is the burger lover and I had her select a location via Yelp. We were famished, so at this point peanut butter and jelly would have been amazing. The place was pretty empty when we got there. It was probably not the best burger I have ever eaten, but I was hungry so it did get eaten. Although it was overcooked and dry. We went here for lunch on a Monday and I must say I was surprised to see how robust the lunch crowd was.... that's pretty much where the surprises end though. I have always liked the venue here. Open and good for people watching. Bartenders were super friendly. Really enjoyed talking with them. Even though it was very busy, they could still chat a bit. Live down the street from the Ale house. Have gone there about a handful of times and it's a decent place. Awesome location and great place to enjoy beer and excellent food during the warmer months. There's pool tables and high bar stool tables you can eat and a fabulous outdoor patio.the only downside is the price it's a wee bit expensive to eat. read more

We were in town for a recruiting visit and found this place via yelp. Fantastic service, the waitress answered all of our questions and was there conveniently when we needed. The food was excellent! Believe the reviews which explain this to be a mediocre place. I ate the Salmon Burger with Sweet Potato Fries. The bartender suggested this meal of the two I was most interested. In her opinion it is unique and one of The Ale House's signature dishes. It most definitely was not worth the $11.50 price. I also had the beer sampler, which is pre selected from the Breckenridge Brewery taps. The atmosphere inside is similar to an Applebees or Chilis. The service was preoccupied with larger tables. I should have trusted the "Meh" responses posted but I also asked the hotel staff where Im staying and they recommended the Ale House. I do not. Im sure there are more authentically local, fun, and better priced for the quality of food places. read more

This place is delicious with a great variety of unique foods. And also probably alcoholic drinks but idk Cus I'm 20. Anyway, it's amazing and has a great atmosphere. It's hard to please me as I am super picky but, we were SUPER pleased with our visit last night. We sat at in the bar area and Alex was our server. Extremely upbeat and positive and gave us great recommendations. We were there for the Alabama football game and he tried to get the big screen for us but he still managed to put it on a tv we could catch. Alex kept coming by, checking on us.....super attentive!! I got the Asian salad which was amazing, my husband tried the Cuban but didn't like it too much so switched to the steak which was cooked perfectly. My son had the bacon Mac n cheese and not a drop was left on his plate. We also had the sausage plate and 2 carne asada tacos as apps and my son devoured his and we were super please with the sausage. We ate desert as well, the cobbler and it was delicious!! The 2 hosts on the shift Saturday morning were both absolutely RUDE and did not know what they were doing. They gave rude looks and had a horrible attitude from the minute we walked in the door, and also told us they would not let us sit outside when we looked for ourselves and there were plenty of tables. Very good menu, excellent food, friendly service! We shared the chicken satay app, we loved it! I had a SW chicken salad that was delicious and my husband had the chicken Brie sandwich which he said was fantastic.
