Polite, timely service, and great menu options. The food was average, a decent American restaurant. My elk burger was a little overcooked, but overall the flavor was good. The avodado chicken sandwich was cooked just right but the avocado was not fresh and I couldn't taste any chipotle marinade. The green Chile was a nice touch. We (3 people) just ate at Ale House. While the food was delicious the server was down right rude. I hurt my finger in the parking lot then asked him for some ice (to prevent swelling). He immediately said it was no problem yet he never brought it to our table. THEN when he asked if our meals were on one ticket we said no, asked for one persons meal to be separate. IMMEDIATELY AFTER ASKING US he pulled out the bill payer thingy and handed the ONE bill to my son, totally disregarding my answer to his previous question "will this be one ticket or two?"! At first I thought maybe I misjudged the meal cost when he told us the total. But it was in fact the for all our meals on one ticket. He was such a jerk about it. I know waiting can be difficult, and I do appreciate hard workers. But this guy, Colton, was down right rude and uncalled for. By the time we realized what happened he had walked away. Of course. Because we can't seem to get enough of this place, we went back twice this last week. Earlier in the week we went just for drinks but last night we got dinner as well. Both times we sat in the bar and the waitress/bartender there now recognizes us, super friendly and sweet gal. I got the pimento brisket sandwich and as expected, it did not disappoint! The pimento had a little bit of a kick but was not overpowering to the delicious smoky, tender flavor of the brisket. As a sucker for sweet potato fries, I got that as my side and asked for ranch. Their version of ranch is almost like a ranch mixed with fry sauce, why have I never had this before?! Like always, we came hungry and left very happy. read more

Man how things have changed. The food is still good but the portion sizes have really shrunk. I ordered a bowl of green chili, but it came in a small oatmeal bowl and the server did reassure me the this was now a bowl of chili. Five spoonfuls later and it was gone for a total of $8 plus tip. I also ordered the Shepards Pie. When it came out in was in the same size container as the soup but 8 spoonfuls later it was gone. $16 gone for that. So it will be the last time I will be back to the Ale House for food. read more

We are only in town for two days and we are SO glad we had dinner here. Great service from Colton M! He made excellent recommendations, and was the best mix of attentive, quick, and responsive. I had shepherds pie and it was very good. Didn't need the greasy garlic toast that came with it. Husband had smothered burrito. Very large portion! Service was good, but a little slow. My salmon special order was perfect and juicy, however my mashed potatoes tasted a little old. A dessert we wanted to share wasn't available. Gave an extra star for my special order and friendly service. The hospitality outweighed the food. read more

I very much enjoyed the fish and chips, but found it definitely overpriced. $15 for TWO fairly small pieces, fries and coleslaw. When I asked the waiter if 2 is all I was supposed to get, he responded, "Usually." Ha, what? So if I was lucky on another night I might have received more? Anyway, it was good and the fries and especially the coleslaw were as well. The staff all wore masks, which is unnecessary but impressive and appreciated. Being out-of-towners, Me & friends randomly picked this place for lunch. All 3 meals were excellent, plus our server (Stephen) was a real pro. 2 days later we hit up the place again for lunch; everyone had something different except me, and once again we all thought the food was excellent. Now what I can add is that I had a black & blue cobb salad @ both visits and found them to be identical and excellent...so 5 stars for consistency! With the name The Ale House one would think they brew their own suds, but not so. However, their draft & beer list is more extensive than most places in the state. My only disappointment was their extensive backyard outdoor seating (which is spacious and nice) is not dog friendly. read more

The Ale House is a nice little gem outside of downtown and close to St Mary's hospital. The few times I've been there, I was alone so I sat at the bar. Bar staff was friendly and attentive. They let me try wine before I bought a glass and made a perfect Ranch Water. I ordered the Seared Tuna at each visit and the dish was well prepared. Overall everything was great. I didn't give it 5 stars only because I haven't had a full dining experience here but I recommend the Ale House for a sporty and fun experience. read more

We ate here for lunch. I started off with Them Grimaces' cocktail in the prickly pear flavor. It was one of the best cocktails I've ever had! Super tart; it wasn't very strong, but I ordered a second one with an extra shot and it was perfect. My husband got an old fashioned and it was very strong. The artichoke dip was good, very garlicky. I got the beef kabobs, which were very good. I did wish they had some spice to them. My husband got the spicy meatloaf- it wasn't spicy at all and was just missing something as far as the sauce went. Our server was fantastic but the food was not anything to return for. I had the salmon and it was good but not something I'd crave to come back for. We also had the chips and salsa and the chips were overly salted (and I love salt...) and the salsa was watery instead of chunky. However, I got 10% off our meal with a check in. The tea was harsh and not very enjoyable. I usually don't add sugar to my tea but the tea is so bitter! I wouldn't return of my own idea but I would go again if a group was going anyhow. read more

Great place. Big, nice, walk around bar. The staff are very friendly. The elk burger witsweet potato fries is my fav. Blackened Seared Ahi Tuna was ok. Not the freshest Tuna. Good wasabi though-very spicy. Brie Apple chicken sandwich was juicy. Avocado chicken sandwich was interesting with the green chili flavor. Club sandwich was decent-smoky cheese. We came to Grand Junction to scout out Colorado Mesa University for our Daughter. She is a fanatic for mac n' cheese. The Ale House's mac n' cheese is legit! She might be attending CMU because of this Mac n' Cheese. (No, CMU is great) I'm not so much a mac and cheese fan, but I had a bite and said HELLO! We finished off the plate by sopping the rest of the cheese off the plate with bread. Our other plates were good. I had Meatloaf, good, My wife had the Adovado Chicken Sandwich, also good. Sporting a roomy full-service bar, big screens in all viewing angles, lots of seating, Breckenridge craft beers and diverse dining menu, this is an excellent brewery restaurant to please all palettes. Family style, we customized a pizza, cheeseburger, fries, spinach salad and Breckenridge Agave Wheat. All items were satisfying: 3.5 - 4 stars. Burger a little overcooked for my taste but OK for others. Service was attentive, timely, friendly and polite: (4 stars). There are a few areas I wish were offered: * Specials - While posted on entryway board, the servers should ask guests if they noticed or want to know about them. Ours' didn't. * Beer Menu Organization - currently in three categories solely based on their notion of your beer sophistication (Gateway, Craft Beer Connoisseur and You Are Not Worthy). More helpful and accurate to list by Breckenridge house beers versus other featured breweries, or better yet, type of beer). * Beer flights - as an Ale house with a good selection of house craft beers, they should either offer flights or half-pint pours. * Pizza size - only offered one massive size.
