Food is always delicious- filling and flavorful. Staff is always nice and helpful, but have had a few times when they forget things or get the order wrong. Nothing unforgivable, just unfortunate. The food tasted fine, but the grilled chicken breast on the Brie Apple Chicken sandwich was 1/2 the size of the bun. Disappointing. The kitchen should have set it aside, slices it, and added it to one of the salads. Maybe chicken breast sizes have been impacted by the Bird Flu. My wife enjoyed the grilled salmon plate. Ambiance is cool. Food and service so so. Not bad food but the last time my wife and I went we had a hard time finding something on the menu that sounded good and neither of us were impressed with what we got. I feel like they changed the menu because I remember liking this place before the pandemic and this was our first time back after 2020 so maybe things have changed. Food was great. Great atmosphere. Amazing service from Violet. Only downfall is that they have a sign that says "mask friendly" on the door then when I walked in with no mask they made me put one on. If you're not mask friendly, don't have a sign saying you are. I would be happy to wear a mask if the sign said mask required. Don't contradict yourself. read more

I've come here a few times. And I love the place. However, this was the first time I've been here that I've had bad service. For 6 tacos, 2 sandwiches, and two pancakes, eggs, and potatoes it took them 2 hours from ordering to even get the food out to us. The guacamole was brown and fish in the tacos was cold. This of course isn't really the wait staffs issue. But something needs done. read more

The Sunday brunch is excellent. I had their pecan pancakes with 2 eggs the first time. My son enjoyed their elk burger. My wife enjoyed the chicken pot pie. The guy at the front desk of our hotel recommended this place for beer and food. Decor was beautiful - very woodsy and trendy. Service seemed slow although the waitress was nice. Maybe she had too many tables to take care of. Food was a disappointment. I ordered the Veggie chili - which was okay. The real disappointment was the Mountain Man Shepherds Pie. They should've renamed it the the "Little Hill Little Kid Shepherds Pie"......for the price we paid and the description on the menu it should've been a little bigger. This place is not worth the time. After my initial review these folks reached out to ask for another chance. I'm no longer in Grand Junction (was there for business) but when a place cares enough to reach out like that after a negative review I'd be willing to give them another shot. read more

Service was unacceptable. Our waitress was short spoken and curt. The food was old tasting, dry and disgusting. I am usually a huge fan of The Ale House, but haven't been in a while and obviously quality has decreased significantly. Will not be back! I appreciate the steps the GM took to make this right. ***UPDATE*** My husband and I have gone to the Ale house multiple times throughout the years. I loved the food and also the service. Up until today 6/19/20 @845pm. I recieved a phone call from a manager asking if I just left the Ale house. I said yes. She said you left $15 on top of the table, I said yes the waiter's tip. Then she said can you come back and pay the rest of your bill. I said I paid the full bill. Our bill was $71.08 I gave the waiter $100.08 He brought me back the change of $29. I left him a $15 tip. The manager is saying, the waiter told her, that we didn't pay our Bill. There is no record of $100 bill being on the books. I told her she needed to check his pockets and check the register again because I paid it. She put me on hold. She came back to the phone and said there is no record so I guess I have to just comp it. I told her i dont appreciate being accused of not paying my check and she needs to check the waiters pockets because, we paid our bill. Then she was rude and hung up on me with no apology still thinking we didn't pay our bill. I asked her for her name and the waiters name and she said she didn't thinking giving either of their names was necessary and said have a good night and hung up on me. We will never go back there until i recieve an apology. I also would like a full refund including the tip since I was accused of not payinh my bill anyways. I'll be waiting for the $86.08, not in credit. $71.08 for the bill and $15 for the tip. Whatever you do make sure they give you a reciept from here. They obviously have waiters/ managers that are stealing. read more

The Ale House has been on our dining out list for several years. We have done a "date night" every week for the last couple of years, and the Ale House has always been in the rotation. The food is good, the service consistent. Last time we went, we found that after we paid the bill, there was a 3% "living wage surcharge. I realize everyone would like to make more money and times are tuff, they're tuff for us as well. But passing along a surcharge after the fact is unethical and wrong. Why do we tip if you are just going to take it? I hate to say it, but we won't be back. We feel taken advantage of because we weren't given a choice. We have always tipped more than 20% (if deserved) to do our part for the service staff and you've taken even more without consent or any type of notice. We don't feel like we received 3% better service or quality. read more

Bottom line up front - the owner turned me away for not wanting to wear a mask to walk from the entrance to my table. I asked him why and he said "it's the rules". The staff asked if I had a reason for not wearing one. I replied that I have many. As if individual rights weren't enough, I told them I was a disabled veteran and can't wear one. I served 10 years as a Navy EOD tech. He insisted I put one on and accused me of being "contagious" saying that I'd contaminate his staff and restaurant. He then belittled me in front of his staff, calling me names, ultimately asking me to leave. I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone. The conduct of the owner was unbecoming and offensive. Honestly, I feel bad for how afraid he is. Avoid this place if you value your individual rights - you can get a good beer somewhere else. read more

We were here from out of town and thought we'd try something new. We wish we had gone to a place we knew well. We spent $78 on a dinner that should have cost $30. The $28 steak was a $12 dollar type steak. The mashed potatoes were hard and looked like they were sitting in the fridge all day and microwaved. The mixed vegetables tasted like they were frozen and microwaved. The Cobb salad was small and had a little bit of very cold chicken in it - not what I expected at all. The waitress was not very friendly and seemed irritated by everything. Wish we could leave a good review, but this was terrible and wasted money. read more

We met friends for a night out and have come to this brewery for a number of years although more infrequent these past few years. I have felt like the overall experience is typical of a sports bar, different than the early years. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Wrap listed under sandwiches. The wrap was very good, fresh with a nice spice; however the sweet potato fries were semi warm and clearly had been sitting for awhile. My husband ordered the Asian salad and it appeared fresh and he reported it was good. Our friends had the fish and chips also reported to be good with another ahi tuna wrap same as mine. Service was a definite 3 rating. There were two young men at the entry who were seating us that were very casually dressed and generally not too welcoming. They have a nice selection of draft beer and when I asked our waitress for one listed on their website, she stated it was not an option as the website was not accurate. She quickly stated their options change everyday and the menu she gave us was likely out of date?? She didn't offer to share any updates so I went with what I usually get. She never returned after our food was served or I would have asked for fresh fries. She only returned after we were finished and I did appreciate she offered to split the bill. I only came because our friends suggested this restaurant. I will not plan to come again as the food and service is mediocre. So many other quality places to get a nice meal out. read more

We had a group of 5 with kids. This was a great family friendly environment. The outside area is perfect unique seating and traditional. The open area allowed the kids to play and be silly and they loved the games. Kids had Mac n cheese which they could have split instead of two orders it was so big. The elk burger was delicious the toppings melded perfectly for an exceptional burger. The Asian chicken salad was good finely chopped salad parts and fair amount of chicken. The ahi tuna wrap had great flavor but was better for us outside of the wrap so maybe order as a salad. The drinks were perfect, so many choices. The inconsistencies in service from the wait staff is an inconvenience. The shortest wait times and best service occurred during lunch times. We've been going here for years. It seemed they did struggle during Covid, but lately they've been consistently above average. Servers have been good. Food has been good. I like their burrito. Maybe it is not very authentic Mexican food but it tastes great and is a big portion. The bar area is noisier than we like but the tables behind the bar are quieter. Went in for lunch yesterday and sat down at the bar. We were the first two customers in after they had opened at 11am. We sat and watched as several servers made eye contact while they chatted. We sat for fifteen minutes without so much as a greeting. So at that point, we stood up and left. I've been coming here for years and there's been a noticeable decline in service each time. Poor management combined with employees that demonstrate a lazy and entitled attitude means I won't be back anytime soon. Too many other good options popping up around town. The Ale House is one of my favorite places to eat. I love the environment and the events that they hold there. I love that there is something for everyone on the menu. There is not one thing on the menu that I have not enjoyed. I especially enjoy Stephanie H. We have had her as a server many times, and she never disappoints. She is very knowledgeable, and great with me and her other customers. I will most definitely be coming back and referring others to do the same. read more
