Actually? They moved to wells rd in orange park. When we dined at the St. John's location? Was always a 4 or even five stars. Last week we attended the new location. I'm going to be fair.. they just opened. But I think you should have all your T' crossed before you open. Decor really needs an upgrade. To dark! Service a lot to be desired. They are now on Wells road. . I was a little disappointed.my wife had the Philly steak a minestrone soup lunch special . The roll she was give was as hard as a rock. Her sandwich was not very tasty a she had to ask for mayo. I had the Italian sub a salad lunch special . The salad was ok I had the Irish dressing it was the cream style. I was looking forward to this visit because of all the hype about them reopening.. Tonight's experience was poor at best. My wife and I ordered separate pizzas. She ordered a White Pizza which was good, but not great. I ordered a Meat and Vegetable Pizza which was soggy and limp. It appeared to be made with pre-packaged ingredients instead of freshly prepared. The staff couldn't decide which table ordered what which led to poor service.. Omg! This is truly incredible place! We ordered pizza- caprese pita bread-tiramisu- banana cake. All incredible! Pizza was thin crust and nicely baked, definitely very close to authentic italian restaurants! Caprese pita bread came with chicken tomato and mozarella- so tasty, full of flavor and filling! Tiramisu was the first one in a restaurant that i did not regret ordering! This place is one of my go to for pizza and wings, especially takeout or delivery. The BLT pizza is delicious, but even their cheese is very good. Lots of cheese on that one. Also, the wings are always crispy. When I get them delivered, I asked for the sauce on the side so they arrive crisp and they are so amazing.! But I've also eaten there for dinner and enjoyed their chicken Parmesan and my wife likes the penne à la vodka. The grandma's meatball is a big hit with the kids, it's enormous. I visited Ale Pie House with a group of 4 others. We made a reservation online just to be sure we'd be easily accommodated on the weekend. There didn't seem to be a need to make a reservation based on the super low crowd level but it is nice that they have the option. The people in my group ordered a variety of things including house salads, pastas, and other appetizers. My meal was the chicken Parmesan and it was a large portion. The salads were pretty good starters for the meal but I was thrown off by the super, extreme sour pickled vegetables throughout the salad. I love pickled things but these were INTENSE and I did not expect to find them in a garden styled salad - not my favorite. Service overall was quick and easy. We did not run into any issues on this visit. Ale Pie House has been around a decent amount of time, I wouldn't say it is the best in town but it is a decent italian restaurant with a large menu showcasing pastas, pizzas, sandwiches, appetizers and more. read more

We tried the new location in Orange Park. The food was just as good as it has been for the last 8 or so years at the Avondale location. From the Cheesy Garlic bread to the pizza (regular crust and deep dish) to the chicken fingers our granddaughter got, everything was great. I ordered on Uber eats and I was a little disappointed in my order. I really just wanted pizza but they have a minimum order amount so I paid more than I was expecting. The pizza was good a standard slice that hit the spot. I got the kids spaghetti and meatball that didn't really have any flavor. The way it was packaged was also not secure and the sauce spilt over the bag. My husband and toddler shared the 14" Ale White Special Pie (ricotta, fresh garlic, mozzarella, romano, parmigiano, fresh tomatoes, and fresh spinach). It was so delicious. [Updating an old review.] The reasons I liked Ale Pie House no longer apply. There were unfortunate changes change in ownership/management or staff. The results eliminated the reasons I liked Ale Pie House. I thought I try it again, until I read the newer reviews. One review described staff mistreatment of a disabled customer with a service dog. I have a service dog now. Other places in Avondale and Riverside serve delicious food and the staff accommodate my service dog without any hesitation at all. The food was really good! We got the chicken Alfredo and the portion was huge and came with two huge garlic knots. I also got the bruschetta appetizer and it was fresh and delicious. The only reason I am giving three stars is our server wasn't very friendly. We had a large group (family) for dinner tonight. I think maybe 15 people. Our server (Stephanie) did a great job taking care of all of us. I had the Lasagna tonight. It was the first time getting it here. We usually get pizza but I wanted to get something different. I thought the Lasagna was very tasty and I love the meat sauce they have. It tasted like they used just a little bit of wine in their sauce which was excellent! I also shared a salad with my mom and wife. We LOVED the Raspberry Vinaigrette dressing! Wow it was delicious. Trying to find another place to eat lunch by Riverside and found this place. We were seated immediately as the restaurant was not that crazy busy. We ordered bacon cheese fries, meatlovers Chicago style pizza and bbq chicken pizza. We were surprised how large the servings were. One of the kids for 2 slices of cheese pizza with a drink which is one of their lunch special under $10. All of our orders were delicious and not greasy at all in comparison to some pizza places we have tried. It appears that they have gotten new menus since we were in last and the font is SO TINY with so many things trying to cram on the page it was almost impossible to read. I always order the same thing but for our friend who has never been there it was a lot for him. Lunch specials are so delicious and reasonably priced. There are different options and combos. I really like their house salad with their Greek feta homemade dressing. My husband and I came here for the first time a few days ago. We ordered the antipasta salad and two pizzas. The antipasta tasted good, but PLEASE chop up the toppings for the customers instead of throwing the meat and cheese on top of the lettuce. It was very hard to cut it up with a butter knife and took time to do so. I ended up asking the server for a steak knife. Ale Pie House is absolutely phenomenal. I've been once before and gotten pizza- it was good but not nearly as good as their entrees. I got the Ale Clams Pasta but they were out of clams so they substituted mussels- and I would not have it any other way! The mussels were incredibly tender and fresh, such a soft bite, and no fishy flavor whatsoever. The butter and lemon sauce it was in paired perfectly with sauvignon blanc. We also got the shrimp piccata and fettuccine carbonara which were both delicious. Everything about this dinner was perfect and the service was wonderful. The service was great, but the food just left me wanting more? I'm not sure if I just ordered the wrong things or I was there on a bad day, but I just didn't enjoy eating here. I purchased a Groupon and I've seen a million ads for this place so I figured I'd try it out. The happy hour deals are great with a few of the beers on sale for $2. I ordered the breaded mozzarella as an appetizer. While the cheese itself was good, the breading was grainy and would fall off the cheese. I feel like this issue wouldn't have happened if the cheese was fried longer. I had the chicken & avocado melt for my main dish. Again, I feel like it wasn't pressed long enough. The avocados were ripe and delicious. But the chicken was dry and the rest of the sandwich lacked seasoning. I ordered way too much food for one person and ended up taking a to go box, but honestly didn't end up finishing the sandwich and tossed it. I've driven by Ale Pie House countless times and have always wanted to stop in, but never really got around to it. I found a special on Groupon ($10 for $20 worth of food), so that helped give me a little push. Since the pandemic started I've been strictly take-out and even now I'm pretty much the same, so this isn't based on a dine-in experience, although they are currently open for dine-in service as well as pick up and curbside. The parking lot is modest in size and spaces are limited, so if you choose to dine in, I recommend coming early. I called ahead and ordered my go-to Italian dish, Chicken Parmigiana, and a slice of cheesecake. I live about 8-10 minutes away from the restaurant, and everything was in tact and piping hot when I got home. For me, when it comes to Italian cuisine, the sauce really makes the dish, and Ale Pie House does not disappoint with their Chicken Parm. It was the perfect balance of sweet and savory, and was neither over or underwhelming. The chicken had a flavorful, crunchy texture and when combined with the spaghetti, provided a truly exceptional meal. Crown it with some gooey melty mozzarella and call it a day. The portion size was big enough for two meals, so that came in handy for the late-night fridge raid. I DO, however, have one grievance to speak of. The meal came with a side of Garlic Knots, which I was excited for, but i think they may have spent a minute or ten too long in the oven because they were hard. Hard like....Die Hard. Bruce Willis at the Nakatomi Tower Christmas Party kind of hard. I read other reviews where people are praising the Garlic Bread like it's Gods gift to Italian food, so maybe I got something different?... The Cheesecake was the ideal "Ok I'm stuffed, I can't possibly eat another bite, but i could really go for something sweet" dessert. It was creamy, it was dreamy, and served cold....not steamy! *mic drop* I appreciated that the kind lady who greeted me and took care of my order had both mask and gloves on, so thumbs up for that!
