This cornerstone restaurant has been around for about 20 years and has recently come under new ownership. They've kept up the tradition with some new recipes of their own. We shared a few slices of pizza, garlic knots, and a portion of her signature Lasagna Bolognese. The lasagna was amazing, with a great balance of flavors and textures. I've been hearing a lot of good rumblings about Pizza Bella lately and recently had a chance to give it a try. First off, it's been a neighborhood staple for a while, and the people have an accurate reputation of being extremely nice with great service. All true. The pizza itself has wonderful, crispy crust. They also come in a variety sizes, which is great, cause you can order several smaller pizzas and try different stuff. I can attest to deliciousness of the Hawaiian pizza and the Cheese pizza. The Meat Lovers is stacked with meat, so much so, that the pizza is hard to even see under there! In general, it's almost a 5-star pizza joint, but I save that rating for only the highest echelon, and this place is pretty close. If you live in the San Jose area, especially up by Scott Mill and Beauclerc, then you should feel lucky to have this pizza spot right up the road. It won't disappoint. I didn't actually eat here but I got into a really serious car accident in front of their building and they treated me with the upmost kindness. They offered me free food and drinks and let me sit inside since it was raining and I was really shaken up. The kindness these people showed me meant more than I could ever express. This is a hole in the wall local pizza place. We found it by luck while visiting that area of town. We lucked out. Thia place is small in a small shopping strip. Parking lot is limited. You order when you walk in. Then seat yourself. The food is delivered to you. The drinks are bottled in a glass door beverage display cooler in the dining area. The food we ordered was amazing. The taste was better than some high end restaurants. The portions was big. We had left overs to bring home with us. This is a must go to place for quick lunch and all pizza lovers. Amazing and friendly service! Thank you for your expertise and welcoming attitude. The pizza was fantastic and simple with a thin, perfectly cooked crust. We tried the meat lovers 16" pizza and it was more than enough for two adults. We also ordered the risotto balls which were also very well cooked with a nice crisp on the outside. However, the inside risotto, while well made, could use a bit more flavor...parsley, herbs, salt, etc. The house made marinara they came with was to die for and I would love to steal that recipe one day. I was disappointed by the dirty tables (see picture) and bland interior, but if you look around, the floor was spotless, no sign of dirt or bugs, and there wasn't a strong odor which is something I am very aware of. I can't wait to visit again and try the pizza with ricotta and garlic (per recommendation of the employee-sorry I didn't catch your name!) and the salads. The prices are very acceptable and reflect the quality the business invests in their product. We tried this family-run restaurant for the first time and we were not disappointed. We ordered an x-large deluxe pizza (well done), Hawaiian pizza, and eggplant parmesan sub (a new item). The pizzas were amazing. The toppings were fresh and it had a nice crisp crust that wasn't too thick or too thin. You could really taste the freshness in each bite. There wasn't one flavor that was too overpowering. Everything just blended well together. To end our dinner, we decided to try their banana pudding cheesecake (special dessert tonight), and it was delicious. It wasn't too sweet, but it had so much flavor. I'm a firm believer that the service of a place really makes a difference. So it was very nice to have friendly and fast service from the owner. He was helpful and even suggested certain menu items. Ordered a calzone and some garlic knots for delivery. Everything was weirdly peppery, like visible heavy black pepper on the knots and the calzone. At first I wasn't too bothered, then as I got into the center of the calzone, there was literally just one giant clump of mozzarella, then a bunch of pepperoni in the center, and a big scoop of ricotta on the other side. I have driven past this place probably 500 times and now that we have moved closer to them we decided to give them a try. I ordered the veggie lovers xl pizza with a regular large cheese, 2 orders of garlic knots and a calzone with spinach and mushroom. They immediately get a 5* rating because their marinara sauce is AMAZING! It's not too thick and not too thin. The pizzas were awesome and the XL is gigantic. I ate half of the calzone last night and the rest today cold, and couldn't be happier. The person taking my call in order was super friendly. My order was ready in 20 minutes, ON A SATURDAY. I urge everyone who likes to order pizza for takeout to give them a shot. Their prices were just as competitive as the big national chains, and I feel like the dough and ingredients were far superior than those big guys like Dominos and Pizza Hut. The one slice was so soggy it fell way from the crust side of the slice. The garlic knots my companion ordered did not look or taste freshly made. Overall a big disappointment. I have lived in NJ most of my life and this is NOT an NJ or NY style pizza. Update: George, It is nice to see a business owner that quickly responds to customer concerns. So grateful for having a neighborhood pizzeria that offers a great pie! The crust is got a great New York pizza crust if that is what you like. Me, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that kind of crust so thankful I can swing by in the way home or have one delivered. The crust is the kind where you want to eat it all too. They put the right amount of sauce and cheese that balances out the toppings perfectly. And, the toppings actually have real great taste, meaning you can distinguish each flavor as you enjoy your pipping hot pie. I don't mind mildly greasy pizza as long as it's cheesy and delicious. That was not the case here. Too much grease and too much salt for a cold pizza. The chicken parm sandwich was also disgusting - who uses diced chicken on a chicken parm sub? I wonder if it's the same sauce being used on the pizza because it is so salty it's inedible. Love this place, friendly family owned Italian restaurant. Great prices and lunch deals, and the owner even makes sure you don't miss a deal, I ordered a Cheese Pizza because it was all I could afford, he told me "add any topping for free, same price" I thanked him and added pepperoni. Was so good, ate half of it myself, the cheese was melted and oozing all over the pizza, the sauce was flavorful and meaty, the bread had a crisp crunch to the bottom and a pillowy soft interior and was flowered nicely. We used to love the pizza here but something has changed since the last time we had it (~2 years) and it seems like they are cutting corners. The pizza crust was not bad but not as crispy or light/fluffy as it used to be. It took forever for us to get our pizza. He said they were training new employees but the delivery person was running in and out with new orders for the 40 minutes we waited for our two pizzas and garlic knots. The garlic knots were small and sad, and they also completely forgot the garlic. It was just floured and baked pizza dough. Disappointing but not terrible. Thought we found a nice cozy spot yesterday afternoon. We ordered a pie with half chicken, half chopped garlic and a side of garlic knots. Paid and tipped at register before being served. We got 2 pies - One pie half chicken no garlic on either. No knots. I asked about the garlic and was told garlic was on pizza. I'm guessing garlic powder. I looked at the bill and sure enough 2 pies no garlic knots on receipt. The pizza had no taste and looked like the frozen pie you reheat. We were the only people in the place so there was no confusion. From now on I check the receipt at counter and always tip after being served. We tried this place for the 1st time and had the Pizza delivered. Delivery was quick and the food was really good. The only complain is I paid 1.99 for extra cheese and it did not come with the extra cheese, so for that o give 4 stars. We will still order from them again. read more
