I used Yelp to locate Alex, and could not be happier with him or his expertise. I had a Kenmore washer on the fritz, and first called Sears. They couldn't get out here for FIVE days and wanted $139 for the service call, not including parts or labor for more than two hours. And then they tried to pressure me into paying $299 for a "guaranteed" labor rate! I was disgusted, so called Alex and also used his website, which advertised a $15 service call fee -- waived after a complete repair. He called me back promptly and could've come that day, but my street was being repaved and wasn't driveable. So he came bright and early the next morning (Saturday). Well -- he fixed my washer so fast, with no extra parts needed, that I figured while I had him there I'd ask him to look at our wine chiller, which hadn't worked in two + years. He took it out, figured out the problem, and gave us several options about fixing the broken thermostat. (We didn't want to spend too much because we'd gotten it cheap.) Bottom Line -- He fixed TWO appliances, one of which needed an expensive part, for the price Sears wanted to charge me just for the service call & labor -- $140. He is very competent, polite and professional. His business card/ magnet is staying up on the fridge -- I'll never call anyone else again! read more

Alex is a lifesaver! I have been without a freezer for some time as I have a built in and was afraid of the cost . The drawer was frozen shut and would repeat even after defrost, cleaning and ensuring it was draining. Tried everything! Alex assessed and said he could fix it by installing new rails. The drawer rails were purchased, installed and I am now with a freezer without the giant coast of matching and installing a whole new build. He also has fixed washers/dryers at my home but this last fix demonstrates the thoughtfulness and skill that is the foundation of his business ! read more

I called Alex Appliances today, Boxing Day (December 26th), with a problem with my gas cooktop. The person on the phone walked me through what he believed the nature of the problem to be, as well as how to solve it without his needing to make a service call. This is service, my friends, and the way that people get my return business. He could have just as easily charged me for a service call and done the very simple fix himself. We first used Alex's services when our wall oven was making terrible "tractor" noise when cooling; he came to replace the 2 fans, and the oven functions like new, and is back to an acceptable noise level. And this time around we called him to fix the ice maker in our 15 year old refrigerator. Could have been ether the inlet valve or the ice maker itself and Alex started replacing the ice maker piece, and that was sufficient, no need to change the inlet valve. Very quick to come out when I needed help with my cooktop and clothes dryer. Great that the same person could do both. He ended up making the flames on my cooktop more even (and light right away without so much clicking). Then he cleaned out the bottom of the dryer where the lint collects even though it meant taking the whole dryer apart. He did that very quickly and I think just made my dryer safer to run. read more

Had our LG washer pump go out today. Called to see if they could come this week for a repair. They called right back and had an appointment available in an hour. Nick came and had the repair part with him. He broke down exactly what needed to be done and explained all the costs. Repaired the washer in under an hour and showed me all that was repaired and why.
