I hate to start with the bad, because food and service was amazing, but the owner/manager older gentlemen made this experience excruciating. We rolled in for brunch, 4 adults 3 kids. This guy rolled his eyes at us and walked away. The people behind us said, "wow, nice welcome". Someone else came up and asked us again and found us a perfect table in a NOT busy restaurant. Server was awesome. Kitchen staff came out to ask which kids got Mickey and Minnie Mouse pancakes to customize them. So unexpected and amazing of them. Server comes walking by with tears in her eyes, starts bawling talking to this manager - via the conversation he is the cause of these tears. This man is horrid. I took it upon myself to walk up to him and call him a prick to his face, for me to do that means you are a horrible person. Can't believe someone would let this man run their restaurant! We tried out Alexander's Cafe because of their great rating on Yelp and great reviews. Went there on a Sunday early and had a little bit of a wait but the service and food was well worth it. The bathrooms are by far one of the nicer bathrooms in a diner we've ever seen having a hand lotion and mouthwash dispenser at the ready in addition to hand soap and paper towels. Service was friendly and quick and the dining area was a very well decorated and quite cozy with a fireplace in the middle. We did not have to wait long for ordering or for our food to arrive. I went with the Southwest Skillet and it was extremely good. Hot sauce was placed at the table at the ready which was a nice change from having to ask. The French toast with strawberries and bananas was also very good. The coffee was very good and our waitress was very attentive to keeping it filled as well as checking in on us. By the time we ate and paid the bill there was a very long line waiting to get in, which is pretty common for a breakfast place on a Sunday after church lets out, so get there early. Definitely will visit again as the food was hot and fresh and well prepared. The only complaint is parking is very tight though there is a satellite parking lot across the street but with the traffic it is very dicey trying to get to the restaurant safely. Definitely give it a try if you're in the area. They are also going to start online reservations through their app starting next week which might be a great feature as they do get very busy. read more

We had an amazing experience at Alexander's Café. Not only is the food delicious, but the restaurant is very family-friendly. We have visited multiple times and each time the wait staff and managers always check on our table regularly and include the kids in conversations. Today, I especially wanted to write a review and recognize because when we arrived, my children always go to the orange juice machine to watch them make fresh squeezed orange juice, and the guy that met them at the machine, was outstanding. He taught my kids how to juggle oranges, let them keep one of the oranges, and really engage them in a fun way. I wish I would've caught his name (he worked in the kitchen getting orders organized, wore his hat backward) but his interaction and fun demeanor was outstanding and will make my family visit again! First time diner, I'll be back. Interior was neat and clean, very cozy without being cramped. Good location on the west side. Pretty good menu, but most selections are "meals", few ala-carte items. Many folks just want an egg, bacon & toast...can't get anything close to that here, all big portions. Though I loved the skillet I had, I could have done with one piece of the giant Rye toast and half the skillet. Felt the coffee was overpriced too, $2.75 for a cup seems high to me...maybe half that much would be right? All in all, Alexanders was pretty good, and with Abby's closing I think I found a nice replacement. Hopefully they expand the menu a bit to service the smaller breakfasts, but I'm not sure they want to do that. Pricing, other than the coffee, was about right, given the portion size, figure $13 - $15 per person. read more

This was an excellent experience. We went there for breakfast, and had about a 20 minute wait. There was GOOD, free coffee while we waited. When we sat down, our server was very knowledgeable and our food came out FAST. My country fried steak was delicious, and they gave me a drink to go. I'll for sure be back. We tried this place on a Saturday around noon. It was still fairly crowded, but we were able to get a booth. We ordered the classic breakfast and the grilled cheese. My husband really liked everything included in the breakfast, the hash browns especially. The pancakes were also very good, bonus points for the cinnamon butter. The grilled cheese was pretty good, it came with bacon, tomato and different types of cheese. The fries were very good, and we are very picky about our fries. We would definitely go back if we were in the area. One negative, it was quite noisy when crowded. read more

Over the weekend, we made a first visit to Alexanders and were seated and served promptly. I ordered a dish I did not like as much as I anticipated (nothing wrong with the dish, the flavor just wasn't what I expected). Someone on the staff must have overheard my conversation with my husband and mother in law (not complaining, just sharing with them that I wasn't going to finish my plate) and we were approached by either an owner/manager/supervisor who wanted to assure there was nothing wrong. He then told us we were not going to be charged for my plate because he didn't think it would be right to pay for a meal I didn't enjoy. Totally unnecessary but so appreciated and we will be returning for the service, atmosphere, and that delicious cinnamon butter that was part of my pancake side dish. read more

Went for breakfast on Sunday with my wife. I had the bone in ham with two eggs very delicious. My wife had the potato pancakes which she enjoyed. We finished our meal and waiting for the check. The waitress approached us and said our Bill has been paid for by an anonymous person in appreciation for my military service in Vietnam. What a pleasant surprise. The owner told my wife to take care of that man. So I do believe the owner paid for our breakfast. What an awesome way to show support for veterans. Love this place for breakfast and lunch! All the servers are great and so friendly! It's always packed (because it's so good!) so go a little earlier than planned and expect to wait a little bit but it is so worth it! They move the tables pretty quickly, it's a pretty big place! Have been to this place before more than a few times. It was a Sunday around noon so as expected it was crowded. Upon checking in they asked for our phone #? Then the guy went on to explain this new system they have where they text you when your table is ready and you could go run an errand or something and they will tell you when your table is ready? TBH the new system seemed to take longer to get seated than the old pagger system they used. So we waited almost 40 minutes to be seated. Now after the wait the visit could have been satisfactory if the food was good. Well continued dissapointment is what followed. I order a Cheese burger cooked medium and fries about 10 bucks. Got the food and the fries are old, stale and cold. The burger for $10 you would expect a decent sized patty right? No small maybe 1/4lb patty that was over cooked. The lettuce pile was much bigger than the burger patty, maybe an attemp to make the burger appear bigger. My girls food was decent she had breakfast. Leason learned if we ever come here again stick with the breakfast stuff, cause the burgers suck. Have a feeling the new text on the phone thing may turn a decent amount of people off. Really in no hurry to go back here anytime soon. read more
