I feel like I'm in the minority here and it actually makes me sad because I really wanted to like this coffee as it's so hyped up and talked about! I LOVE Alfred's. It's less convenient that it's located inside a hotel because I have to find parking downtown every time I come. I know there are Alfred's locations in California, so I'm really glad there's a little piece of the West Coast here in Austin. Their vanilla iced latte + matcha latte are so good. I love that they use house made syrups, and I am fairly confident that they use actual vanilla bean for their vanilla iced latte. I highly recommend Alfred's! Especially if you love aesthetics because the hotel is really pretty, and there is a cool neon sign. The only downside to Alfred's is that every cup of coffee is guaranteed to cost ~$6-7. read more

Why 4 stars? Because the coffee is delicious but crazy expensive. --- --- --- Staying at The Line hotel, I ordered coffee here each morning. The nitro? Amazing. The red eye (drip coffee + a double shot of espresso) - tasty + mega-caffeine. The service? Friendly and fast, despite long lines. But the cost is out of control. I know it's downtown Austin and it's super convenient to have a full coffee bar inside my hotel, but a large nitro comes out to $7.58. I tip a dollar and round up to bring it to $9. That should be the cost of two large nitros. Don't get me wrong, if I stay at the Line again in the future, I'll be found at this counter every single day, but I turned into the wide-eyed emoji guy when I saw the bill on the first day. read more

Nice vibes in the modern yet cozy LINE hotel and an amazing iced Americano! I heard really good things about Alfred from my friends in LA, so I knew I had to come here while looking for places to WFH in Austin. I came around 2pm on a Wednesday and there was plenty of open seating in the hotel lobby as well as no line. The lobby itself has public wifi, restrooms, and enough outlets that made it a solid place to get work done. I was impressed with how flavorful and nutty my iced americano was. At $3.75 total it's well-priced and left me more than satisfied. Glad I finally was able to try Alfred's--hope they decide to open a Bay Area location soon! read more

I was excited to give Alfred's a try because I had heard a great deal about them. I've seen many pictures of their green tea latte and opted to give it a try. Overall, I would say the tea was good, but not great. The aesthetics of Alfred's are cute however, I wasn't blown away by my beverage. I ordered the green tea latte with oat milk. I feel like the ratio of oat milk was a bit more than anticipated which gave the tea a watered down taste. I wish there was a bit more of a tea taste. The shop is nestled in the Line Hotel, which is super cute and hip. The area for the shop is in the middle of the lobby but a little small. The workers weren't the friendliest during my visit in Austin. The service didn't enhance my experience here. DRINKS: I loved both the Gibraltar and Chagaccino. I can't pick which was my favorite! Gibraltar was rich in flavor but not overwhelming at all. It was mildly sweet, smooth, and was perfect for a cold day. Chagaccino (mushroom coffee) was good too. It was my first time trying it and I thought it would taste like mushrooms in a cup, but surprisingly, it did not. It was another mildly sweet drink. If you're up for other classic drinks, those are available as well. AMBIANCE: it's got cute tables and chairs to sit at. It's part of a hotel lobby. The lines can get long so sit farther away if you're trying to get some studying done. OTHER: Small bites like pastries, sandwiches, salads, and yogurt are available for purchase. read more

It's a solid 8 s/10, would recommend going here. ------------ The way this place is set up is that it is in the lobby of a fancy hotel (the Line), so you can sit on the aesthetic furniture and sip your drink as you please. The covfefe itself was pretty good, I got a cold brew with cold foam and it was pretty decent, 7/10. The vibes of this place were super nice and the interior of the hotel lobby/cafe is really cute! I think I would come here for a coffee date or hangout spot, but not just to grab their coffee and go. Maybe my expectations were tooooo high? I got the vanilla latte iced w an extra shot, and a matcha latte iced both with oat milk and in the smaller size and they were pretty good! Dont get me wrong - their lattes arent bad!! I guess I just wasnt impressed and felt like I could get the same if not better quality coffee at other closer coffee shops for cheaper. With so many coffee options to choose from like Houndstooth, Medici, etc. I really think this is worth the extra walk down to the Line hotel. Located towards the back of the lobby of the Line Hotel, the place offers a convenient coffee beverage to those in the Cesar Chavez/Rainey area. The interior of the Line is quite eclectic and trendy and offers an interesting vibe if you plan to hang out here. Just beyond Afred to the back of the hotel, there's also Arlo Grey, a nice new American eatery; if you head to the western wing of the lobby, you can follow signs for Veracruz if you are in the mood for tacos. Overall, this is one of my go-to coffee spots since it is located close to where I live. I generally go for the chagaccino with oat milk when I do visit, as it's the sort of drink I can't easily make for myself at home. One word of advice I would give is that since there's no good parking options on the premises, you may want to simply walk here if you are elsewhere in the downtown area. read more

I love this place so much! The interior of the Line hotel is impeccably designed and, of course, Alfred sits perfectly inside. Everything about this place is perfect - I want my house to look like the interior, and I would drink their lattes every day - but, parking. matcha latte: great matcha concha (bread): WOW The matcha concha was so good. I'm not very impressed with most pastries at coffee shops because I'm used to bread from places like 85º or other Asian bakeries, but I was super impressed by the matcha concha. It reminded me of pineapple bread with matcha glaze over half of it. The bread was pretty fluffy and the glaze was so good that me and my friend couldn't help but eat the crumbs. I was also really impressed by the matcha latte. It tasted really high quality like there is a lot of matcha inside, not watery at all. I really enjoyed the strong matcha flavor. I think that it would be a good place to study if you don't mind the potential awkwardness of doing work in a hotel lobby. There's wifi and tables, but I'm not sure there are many outlets. I ordered an iced cappuccino (or an Iced latte with less milk) with one pump of vanilla. There is a wall behind the barista which I'll include the pic of but it showed an iced latte is $5 and vanilla syrup is $0.50. So total with tax should've been about $6. The barista did not tell me the total and gave me the receipt which was $8.39 she charged me $7 for the latte and $0.75 for oat milk. I told her I did not ask for substitute milk and she acted like she knew. I then had to ask her to refund that since she did not offer. Also the coffee was overcharged an extra $1.50 and when I told her that she said that the vanilla latte is more expensive. When I asked why the prices weren't right on the board behind her, she informed me that they didn't have to accurately show the price. After all that I did not trust her making my drink and she told me she would "get to" giving me a refund later so I'm hoping that will be fixed soon. But a fair warning to the people coming in here please check the prices they are charging you, they are trying to overcharge $2 a drink and hoping you don't notice. Coffee/Food: I have tried their Oat Milk Latte and Matcha Latte, which both are solid but pricy. It's not something that you can't find elsewhere. The matcha concha is absolutely amazing tho. The bread is so buttery and milky, and the glaze on top has a strong matcha flavor. I would recommend sharing with someone since it's a bit sweet. Parking: The coffee shop is inside of the Line Hotel downtown. You can either find street parking (if you get lucky) or do 30 minutes valet parking for free at the hotel. I would probably come more often if there's a longer free parking period. Interior/Studying: The interior inside is cute and classy. There are marble tables with succulents. However, the table is so small that you can only comfortably fit a laptop. It's not ideal for studying or intense working, but more suitable for socializing. Service: Probably not the best for a coffee shop. The barista was a bit impatient when she handed over our drinks. I also couldn't get any napkins since they ran out on the counter and received no help. Overall, I probably wouldn't come unless it's a special occasion or if I am close by the area already. If you look up the description, its a rich, mocha-like blend consisting of wild-harvested Siberian chaga mushroom, cacao, cinnamon, vanilla, and monkfruit. I was in love with the drink and the place.
