    Grilled Octopus

This was a great experience! I came here for my husband's birthday and the yellowfin tuna and octopus were perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The trio of hummus and regular hummus were quite good and the pita freshly baked and well seasoned! The only constructive criticism I have is that it is more expensive than I would have liked (particularly the cocktails) and the tiramisu was a bit stale. But because the other food was so good and the service so kind (we had our baby with us) I think this restaurant deserves 5 stars. It's also a beautiful ambiance in the St Regis hotel.

The St. Regis and Alhambra restaurant are just stunning. This space also has a private dining room you can reserve. Winter restaurant week so we had the chance to try 3 courses. Added on octopus because it's our favorite. Impeccable service, quality wine selection and good cocktails make this a wonderful upscale dining experience.

Breakfast was great! We started our day here and it wasn't very busy. Fun place for breakfast and it was delicious. Feels a bit fancy and the coffee was tasty. The croissant was delicious. Service was great! Cool place!

I got the chance to stay at the St Regis hotel for my birthday. It was amazing. My wife and I had breakfast at the Alhambra. Clean, stunning, great service. The quality of the food was fantastic. My favorite dish was the pancakes. The host did a great job getting us all the items we requested and had some great recommendations. I would go back just for the breakfast.

The night we had was so special. Our server was Remiro, he was so welcoming. His menu knowledge was impressive and as a server when I go out to eat I always look for that. The dishes we enjoyed were outstanding, especially the watermelon salad, who would have know olive oil and water melon would go great together. What made it a 10/10 was the hospitality remiro gave us. I would most definitely recommend this restaurant/hotel for celebrations, a night out, and for flavorful food. If you book with Alhambra, request for Remiro he will take good care of you.

Some hotels have good restaurants, but this one is exceptional. We had breakfast and dinner here twice. I was not let down. The service was joyful, professional, and caring. The menu is extensive and unique. We ordered so many delicious items we nearly created our own tasting menu. The environment is intimate and felt like private dining.

With a few exceptions, I don't often dine at restaurants inside hotels. Upon receiving an invitation to visit Alhambra inside the St. Regis Hotel, my wife and I visited on a Saturday date night. (Yes, our meal was comped, but opinions are my own.) Here's our experience: 1) Food: With the former business partner of Ambar as the executive chef, the menu has Balkan influences. To feed two, we ordered the hummus with wild mushrooms, Mom's Borek, 100 Layer Patatas Bravas, tahini cauliflower, and grilled octopus. Literally, every dish was well balanced and tasty, but the winner was the Mom's Borek. It's fluffy and the combination of flavors really pop. For dessert, we had the baklava cheesecake and the coconut creme brulee. Both were tasty, but the latter took home the cake. 2) Drinks: Their menu includes wine, beer, and cocktails. I enjoyed their sauvignon blanc (it's more acid forward) and my cocktail. (For the life of me, I can't remember what it's called, but it was sour and refreshing.) 3) Price: They are comparable to D.C. prices so expect to pay around $75-$100 a person for a full meal with appetizers, drinks and dessert. 4) Service: It was on point! Our server was attentive, funny, and guided us through the menu. 5) Space: It's in the St. Regis and the dining room has booth seating and regular tables. It's a little outdated and sterile, but it works. 6) Neighborhood: It's near the White House, surrounded by many restaurants and things to see and do. Street parking is relatively easy to find.

Dining at Alhambra was such an experience! The dinner menu is a fusion of Mediterranean food and tapas style plates--everything was delicious. The only thing we wouldn't recommend is the 100 layered patatas bravas (see image), very small portion and not your traditional tapas. The waitress was very knowledgeable in terms of food allergies and went above and beyond to make sure there wasn't any cross contamination with gluten. There are plenty of GF options! They even provided me with carrots and cucumbers, and GF toast charge free. The drinks are on the pricier side, but what you would expect given the type of restaurant (between $20-25 per drink). We were the only party at the restaurant, which made it very intimate and perfect to celebrate my sister's birthday! Overall, great experience and we will be returning!

I've tried so many Mediterranean spots over the past decade and Alhambra immediately jumped to the top of the list on my first visit. The complimentary pita bread was honestly enough to keep me coming back, it was THAT good. I usually get the hummus and aleppo chicken with an additional side although the branzino, patatas bravas, and giant prawns are pretty good too. I haven't tried the brunch menu yet but I'm sure it's amazing. I've had a handful of people I recommended here tell me they loved it. The ambiance is also nice, esp if you're seated in the golden booths. I'd give the service 5 stars. Overall, you can't go wrong with Alhambra!

We loved our dining experience so much that we booked Alhambra again yesterday night for our intimate wedding dinner with my in-laws. Carmen the receptionist was helpful in returning my call promptly inquiring about moving up my reservation. Our server Zaatar (I think that was how it was spelled) was very responsive to our questions about the menu and attentive to our needs. We were offered a complimentary dessert to celebrate and cap off a delicious meal. Because it was a Monday night, there was only a couple tables filled in the main dining room which made things more quiet. We will definitely come back!

Disappointed. Came for restaurant week, which I know is not the best representation of a restaurant, but I was not satisfied. So many better Mediterranean restaurants in DC. The decor and ambiance is great. But we got charged $70 for water, which was ridiculous. Food was also mediocre, cheesecake was the only item I was impressed with.

An Elegant Breakfast Spot with Wonderful Staff (Just Mind the Checkout)…read moreThe Atmosphere & First Impressions High-End Finishes: The restaurant is beautifully designed with high-end finishes, creating a very upscale environment. Impeccably Clean: Upon arriving, we immediately noticed how clean and well-maintained the entire space was. Warm Welcome: The hostess was incredibly kind and set a great tone for our breakfast. The Food & Service Fantastic Menu: The menu offers a wonderful assortment of options. We were originally drawn in because we were excited to try their homemade Pop-Tart! Accommodating & Kind: Our waiter was a very nice gentleman. The kitchen was more than happy to make small adjustments to our orders for dietary needs, which we deeply appreciated. Kudos to the Staff: The waitstaff does a phenomenal job, especially considering the clientele. This area tends to attract a lot of pompous professionals, and we witnessed customers being incredibly rude to the staff on two back-to-back visits. A Note on the Crowd: For example, we were in on a Thursday afternoon and watched a large group of business professionals completely ignore their server. They wouldn't even acknowledge them or say thank you. It felt like olden times, where the staff were treated like servants to a king or queen and were just expected to take abuse. It was really bad. A Quick Note on the Checkout Process Rushed Payment: The payment process felt a bit rushed. The server hands you a small payment machine and quickly pushes you to complete the transaction right then and there. Keep an Eye Out: We aren't the type of people to scrutinize a bill closely--if it's right around the expected amount, we don't worry about it. However, the lady at the table right before us was loudly complaining about a service fee on her bill, and she ended up not leaving a tip at all because of it. Combined with how fast they push the payment machine on you, it might be worth taking a quick second to look over your total if you are the type of person who likes to verify the fine print. Come on people, do better! Overall Impression It is an expensive spot, but the food quality, cleanliness, and excellent service from the waitstaff make it worth a visit. The staff handles a tough crowd beautifully!

We stumbled upon this new restaurant on the H Street corridor 8th street--a neighborhood that can feel a bit rough around the edges--but what we found inside was nothing short of a true gem. The moment we stepped in, we were stunned by how beautifully designed the space is. The décor feels warm, elegant, and thoughtfully curated, offering a calm retreat from the busy street outside. But the real magic arrives on the plate. Every dish we tried showcased fresh, high-quality ingredients, layered flavors, and a clear respect for the rich culinary heritage of the Ottoman and Istanbul royal family traditions. You can taste the care and legacy behind every recipe. The restaurant business is tough, so I drafted this review with a bit of sadness. I had a good time…read morein large part due to the atmosphere and my date (my girlfriend). That said, a couple missteps that should not have occurred took this review into the negative realm. Let's start with the positive. This appears to be a great new addition to the neighborhood, and I hope it is supported. The appetizers were delicious and nicely presented. The pistachio feta with grilled pita was tasty and interesting. The halloumi with orange marmalade was as well. The hostess was engaging and friendly. The atmosphere was calming with a touch of casual refinement. One of the entrees was delicious (the scallops and grits). I'd order all three items mentioned so far, again. The negative. The second entree was the short rib. It was tender and.... Wow, way too salty. A shame because it was otherwise well cooked and nicely plated. But whoa. When the hostess came by, my girlfriend kindly said it was a bit salty. I "refined" her answer and said she was being nice, but it was very salty. The hostess went to note this for the kitchen (a positive for her), and because we are on the first floor outside the kitchen window I heard the conversation. The chef responded that he knew what had happened. Earlier when preparing the short rib someone (in his words) blasted it with salt. What this tells me is that they knew they'd made something close to inedible but served it anyway. At the end of our meal we had leftovers of the two apps and the short rib. We asked for a bit of extra pita to take home and they provided. Then the bill arrived. Not only was there no adjustment for the inedible short rib, but they charged us $2 for the pita. The least they could have done was just given us the pita. Ah well. Those two missteps; 1) serving a known and improperly prepared entree, and 2) not doing something to make good when reported, have led to this sadly negative review for a place that could and should have gotten a positive one. Hopefully someone there will see this, and the experience and review will be a learning opportunity that will help them thrive.
