Had to come back after almost 3 years and say how much I enjoy the food here. Living in Astoria, I'm always tempted to try new places, they're popping up all over, but this place always feels like home and never disappoints. Was there last night and had the salad with all the fresh greens, the horiatiki. As good as I remembered! The grilled octopus is so tender and good, we tried the grilled calamari too and it was just as delicious. There's plenty of lemony olive oil left in the plate to dip the pita in, after eating the octopus. We topped off our dinner with a whole grilled Bronzino. Moist, tender and FRESH! Topped it off with perfectly seasoned fries, yum. I find the prices very reasonable, compared to what other yelpers think. The portions are huge and the food is fresh but I never got delivery, so can't compare. I'm glad I revisited Aliada, and will do so more. Love.. read more

Slightly obsessed with their Greek salad. The chicken platter is amazing for $15 it comes with great grilled chicken pieces, rice, pita bread that is always piping hot, a small side Greek salad, and a little side of tzaziki then you have a choice of another side I always pick the lemon potatoes..they are amazing. All that food for a great price! I've only done take out so I'm not sure how the service is however I am always greeted by friendly staff when I pick up. read more

Where to start? First my glass was dirty with lipstick I had to go to the waiter since he didn't even come to the table. Then it took him 15 min to come back with the soda and not even an apology. I ordered a small Greek salad grilled octopus and my colleague ordered grilled shrimp. Both of these entrees were lunch size. They were extremely small basically appetizer size and these items all came up to $70!!! I will never go again and do not recommend it. The food was mediocre at best and the service was deplorable. I have tried many greek restaurants in Astoria and other cuisines, Aliada has to be the best restaurant focused on producing really good dishes. I have to give them a lot of credit. In Astoria, it's really difficult to stand out for Greek food because Greek restaurants are everywhere. Nonetheless, Aliada does hold its own on Broadway. The restaurant, while somewhat casual, is clean, appealing and inviting. I recommend going with a group because last time I went with one we were able to order a lot of little plates and share. Solid. The grilled chicken with halloumi pita is very reliable and the gyro plate has never let me down. The horiatiki salad also deserves mention but overall the food is just decent and I'm rarely tempted to venture outside the items I know (I have not been rewarded by past ordering advenures at Aliada). However, It's a nice place to sit down for dinner during the week when you need a win after work - especially so when you get going with a Keo or the respectable white by the glass and I should say that whenever I've taken friends they've had a good time and mention the food positively after the fact (the outdoor seating during the warm months adds to the experience). 2 final points: (1) They've raised prices more aggressively than other restaurants in the area and need to hold the line lest they levitate away from the competition. (2) They have the best busboy in all of Astoria - hard to believe a busboy deserves mention in a review but he's that good. I'd give 3.5 stars if halves were allowed. read more

Delicious cypriot cousine... I have fallen in love with their food and especially with their glukadakia.... their horiatiki is THE best... It is served in a wood board reminding us our village... Sheftalia is amazing, the best sheftalia i had in new york.... mousaka and pastitsio are always a must to our table... I think each day they have different specials.... fresh and flavored with spices... As for prices they are very affordable and great for lunch.... Since i have only one hour for lunch break i prefer to spend it at aliada... it takes me back to old good time.... read more

All I have to say is their Kleftiko is finger licking good!! The place is very clean, and the ambiance is warm and inviting. It was defintely worth walking the extra 6 1/2 blocks in the cold to go eat. Good job Aliada keeping it clean and inviting!! read more

This is my favorite neighborhood restaurant by far. First, the food is consistently excellent - grilled octopus, calamari, chicken souvlaki and lemon potatoes are oustanding. Great for when you want to eat out but want healthy, real food options. My absolute favorites are the tzatziki and the pita, the horiataki salad and the Aegean salad. And the chicken souvlaki. And the lemon potatoes. My husband loves the grilled meat platter - which we ordered accidentally (we wanted the seafood platter). Best mistake ever. And the owner is lovely, appreciates our repeat business, shakes our hands, sends us free desserts and appetizers. It's a laid back, non-fancy, great food - Mediterranean vibe. It reminds me of local trattorias in Tuscany. LOVE IT. read more

Wife and I like to try new restaurants as we food shop in Astoria and Aliada was a very pleasant surprise. First time we decided to order hot appetizers only , to get a feel for the food. They brought some humus, warm pita and other bread with olive oil and oregano which was simply delicious, could have made a meal of it alone. The grilled octopus was fresh and tender, the grilled shrimp, 4 large over a bed of grilled zucchini and eggplant slices, were done to perfection and the lamb kebab was tender and juicy. Add the very good, not greasy, lemon potatoes, and wash them down with a very good Cyprus beer, Keo. we specifically asked the waiter not to have too much oil on the shrimps and they were perfect. Next time we tried Kopanisti, whipped feta cheese with roasted red peppers, it was a interesting but not at the level of the hot appetizers. The crab cakes 5 patties with spicy mayo on the side were OK but lacked "zing". as a main dish the grilled shrimp and calamari over a bed of delicious house rice and lemon potatoes was not only delicious but also a very generous portion. Had to take some home after all the appetizers and to leave room for the complimentary desert that tops a very nice culinary experience for us. The staff and the owner, Mr. Louis, were very nice and attentive and we definitely want to explore more of the menu items. Will definitely go back and highly recommend it . read more

i think that aliada is oft-overlooked by the more hard-core cypriot/greek joints on ditmars or elsewhere throughout the hood. their salads are excellent, very fresh, and full of all the good stuff (i.e. not just lettuce). also, their delivery service is great. i would urge any and all to stop on by and really enjoy their offerings. favorites: horiatiki salad and the aliada special. read more

When I'm on a budget, I get the chicken kebab sandwich with fries - it's only $8! Otherwise, the vegetarian crepes are really good (I think $14). This place gets major points for bringing free pita and hummus prior to the meal. read more

Great food....Just moved into the Astoria neighborhood and was pleasantly happy with my new find being Aliada. The grilled octopus is some of the best i have ever had, even matched the taste left from my trip to Greece. I was also satisfied with their lemon potatos, YUM! This is our favorite everyday Greek in Astoria. It used to be our neighborhood joint, but since we moved slightly further away we order from Seamless. The staff is very nice, and the food is delicious. We usually just stick with the appetizers - Greek salad, Mediterranean salad, teramosalata, grilled octopus, shieftalia, keftedes. We've brought many friends here and everyone loves it. There are more upscale Greek restaurants in Astoria, and those that specialize in seafood, but this is our go-to place for everyday Greek. read more

This place has great food. I just can't give it more than 3 stars because the service was horrible. I was with a group of 10 people and they were focused on their take out orders more so then their current in house customers. We waited 45 minutes for our dinner and the server never brought one of the appetizers that we ordered. Fresh Greek and Cypriot specialties. Love this place - staff, ambience, decor, location. Their village salad, zucchini croquettes and gyro are my favorite dinner. They also have fresh fish as well as some vegetarian options so caters to all types of tastes if you are bringing a big group here. read more

The low rating for this restaurant is more so based on the service rather than food. I came here on a weeknight when it wasn't crowded. It took about 20 minutes to even get our menus and then another half hour before the server took our orders. Now I usually love a long, leisurely meal, but this was nuts. We ordered a hot appetizer which, 45 minutes after ordering, hasn't showed up. Eventually (about an hour and a half after sitting down) our entrees arrived. They were pretty good, but by then we both were pretty tired and ready to get back since we had work the next morning. About 10 minutes after the entrees were put down, they tired to bring out our appetizer! We refused it (something neither of us had EVER done at a restaurant, but seriously, we had already eaten our meals) and they seemed SHOCKED we expected it before our main courses. Eventually we stalked the waiter down for our check, paid in cash and got the heck out of there. read more
