When I was studying at P.C.C, I refused to upgrade after my laptop died, knowing what path that would lead down. Instead, I used an older prebuilt my father had put in the garage when he got a new one. This P.C, like all older models, had started to slow down, but I expected that, ran the usual anti-virus check, etc. Then, six months later or so, it started making odd noises and crashing with an error message. I didn't particularly want to buy another, so I came here to see if it could be helped. It was fixed within few couple of days, and at a very reasonable charge, with some free fan replacements. It runs to this day. I went in early to pick up the computer, because I had work later than morning, and the guy was there fifteen minutes or so later than the posted opening hours, and I couldn't reach him by phone. Maybe call ahead if you're in a hurry. However, he was apologetic. This is an odd little shop. Heavily cluttered with open computers. It has a desultory shopfront area with a light stock of computer accessories, memory sticks, graphic cards, that kind of thing, messily arranged. I get the sense that this primarily a P.C fixing business. I haven't needed a computer fixed since then, but I'd come here if I did. read more

This computer store is exceptional. I had a Bitlocker problem and so my computer would not start without a numerical key. There was no easy way to work that out. I was fortunate enough to have Jude Ban as my technical support. He confirmed my perception that the numerical key was not in my account. He estimated the cost of removing everything and reloading Windows 10 at $120. That was and is a bargain. There is no way that the Geek squad would have recognized the problem as rapidly and offered a cost effective sum to fix it. I recommend Alice Computerworks without qualification. You will not find this kind of expertise anywhere else and at this price! Jude also made sure that my files were reinstalled from the "Cloud" where I had thankfully stored them. Basically, I'm one of those people who sees flaws in most things almost constantly, but I can't even begin to describe how great these guys are. Everybody who works here is exceedingly polite, and of course honest. One man who is older than I am literally ran outside to take a very heavy computer from me, which was so nice that it still makes me feel guilty to think about, but still, so, so kind. Another one helped me carry my computer out, broke down the box for me and helped me shove it into a car that was way too small to fit the whole thing at the same time. Just incredible service. Every time i talk to anyone in there they are just the nicest, most knowledgeable people. I had first called to ask if they had a particular case, which they did not, but were able to order and have available for me within just a couple of hours. It saved me days of unnecessary inconvenience, and, on top of all that, the part was cheaper than anywhere else i could find, including Amazon, and ebay. I waited to write this review because I wanted to see if the repair would last. Had my hardware replaced on my MacBook Pro 5 months ago. After their diagnosis, the technician gave me several options and prices. They were very honest about using non apple replacement parts and I was ok with that. 5 months later, my computer is still running flawlessly. Went to Alice Computerworks because I was having a cpu fan error in bios settings that I couldn't fix properly. After a technician looked at my computer i was told my 1tb SSD card suffered a fatal error. I went in and dropped my computer off after 4:00pm. The following morning I was told the computer was ready. They did not charge for me for labor or the consultation, just paid for a new ssd card. Very professional staff. I used to come here to take care of my home's computers issues. However, I came to realize that their prices are definitely overpriced. Now that I have a better knowledge of computers, I found out that they used generic parts on my computers at premium prices. I think they should lower their prices and start using better parts. I came into Alice three times this past year. I want to give it 5 stars for their actual fixing abilities. They did a great job in saving my data from my laptop and iPhone after the devices crashed, which deserves commendation, even considering how expensive it was. However, I came in the third time because after they fixed my laptop, I got logged out of my iMessage and could never log back in. They were unable to help me out, and one employee who was trying to, went ahead and reset all the settings on my phone without my permission. Now all of my history is gone :( I have to relog into every WiFi network, Bluetooth device, add all my contacts back into find friends, etc. While they have the chops to fix almost any technical issue, this place definitely has to work on its customer service and communication skills.. some of them are way too straightforward and it easily can lead to mishaps like this read more

I have never ever been to a computer store that sacrifices there profits for your customer service. I brought in a customer made Asus Rog g20 desktop pc it's super slim so some of the parts that should be desktop parts were laptop parts for example it was so slim the desktop mother board was a laptop mother board and so was the ram so they moved all my parts into a new pc because my mother board had burned out and Asus doesn't make that part anymore they moved all my usable computer parts into a new case and any differences such as laptop ram that had to be changed to desktop ram was traded for better parts I couldn't have asked for better service get away from Best Buy and come here I know anytime I have a computer issue I can come here read more

I've been doing business with Alice Computerworks for many years. The first time I went there, my PC wouldn't boot. They opened it up and found dust on the motherboard. They pulled out a little dust blower, got rid of the dust, and booted the machine with no problem. They didn't even charge me for the service. I've been going back ever since, they're always honest and helpful, and they always seem to find a way to save me money. I've bought components there after shopping online, and in many cases, their in-store price was better than what I could find on the web. I haven't done any direct price comparisons on entire systems, but I just bought a new PC there, and I believe I got a really, really, *really* good deal. When my hard drive died on my MacBook Pro that I had since summer of 2009, I panicked. Having a laptop in college is essential, so I took it to the Apple Store in Downtown SB the next day only to have them tell me to bring my laptop to a Mac Mechanic or Samy's Camera to backup my data first, since them fixing it will result in some data loss. Disappointed that the Apple Store people couldn't back up my data right then and there, I decided to just look around online for tech-savvy professionals in the area. However, all of the super knowledgeable tech people all are pretty expensive for recovering one's data. One store charges $110/hour, and the other one ranges from $500-$1600. I thought those were a rip-off so my backup plan was to bring my laptop back home to Alice in San Marino to try my luck, considering how the people working there are family friends. My mom then came up on Wednesday to pick up my laptop and dropped it off at Alice to a guy named Ryan on Thursday, and I got my laptop back on Saturday, with all my data recovered and only for $100 dollars instead of the usual $300 because we've been going to them for years. Thus, these people are hard-working and know what they're doing. They don't try to rip you off and charge you for what they think is the best price. They are super efficient too! Since I had such a great experience buying a laptop here earlier this year, I decided to come back when I was in the market for an iPad. I called ahead to see if Kevin (who I worked with before) was working and was told he was on vacation. I went in any way and worked with Alex. Very good guy and very informative. I'm not Mac savvy and Alex was very patient with explaining different features and benefits. A nice feature: Alice Computerworks offers a 1 year warranty on the iPad...meaning you can take it in if there is an issue and they will fix it, rather that waiting/driving to the Mac stores. It's so hard to find a reputable computer repair shop; I've had nightmare stories when I tried to have my macbook pro repaired in the past where the person has taken 8 weeks to fix the computer and changed the price on me halfway through. This time around, I had a computer that wouldn't boot. I took it to the apple store and they wanted $750 to repair it- they had classified it as a 'tier 4 repair' because of a missing serial number sticker on the inside of the laptop. Um.. no. I'm not paying $750 for a missing sticker. The only reason it was missing is because I opened my laptop to swap out the hard drive. Frickin' apple trying to cheat and overcharge like crazy! Next, I took the laptop to a different independent repair shop because I still needed the estimate and the laptop fixed (just so you know it was Crown City Repair) and the guy wanted to replace the top case for $450. When I asked which components were malfunctioning he got IRATE and couldn't explain what the problem was even though I told him that I needed a DETAILED ESTIMATE. So I picked up my computer and left. Months and months later my computer was just collecting dust sad and broken in my house and I decided to try my luck one more time with yelp (some of the reviews are sketchy/fake and it's frustrating sometimes, especially with such an expensive thing like computer repair). Well lo and behold, I found a place that was able to explain what their diagnostic process was like over the phone and I dropped my computer off with them after getting all the dirty deets. Turns out they were able to fix the booting problem within like 5 minutes of looking at my computer, and then assessed the other problems and gave me a detailed estimate and took the time to call me and explain EXACTLY what was wrong and how to fix it. Success! I chatted with the guy who was helping me (Kevin is his name) for a while about the specifics of the repair and whatnot, and he was very helpful. I think these guys are running a fantastic business, and it's such a breath of fresh air to speak with HONEST, REPUTABLE REPAIRMEN who aren't trying to cheat you at every turn like most computer / auto repair etc.. I give these guys MY HIGHEST ENDORSEMENT and hope that this review will bring them the business they deserve. TL;DR: GO HERE YOU WON'T REGRET IT A++++++++ WOULD REPAIR AGIAN **edit 15.7.15** I've knocked down my score 1 star because one of the problems I originally mentioned to the repairmen here was unfortunately not fixed. My Macbook Pro started having issues when my battery died. Initially, I went to the Apple store to have them check it out and find out whats going on. Apple told me that they had to ship it out to see what the issue was, with shipping fees and other necessities. I asked around on Facebook, to find a great local repair shop, and a couple of my friends referred me to this place. I brought in my Macbook and was greeted by Kevin, who helped me diagnose my laptop. My laptop was fixed within a week, and I am glad I stopped by this place. My hard drive failed and I didn't properly backup my files. This place was able to recover my data (from what I can tell after having it back for only a few hours, all is there except for programs that I have to reinstall) and the process was painless. I called and spoke with someone for a rough estimate, dropped off my comp and checked it in with one of the salespersons, then picked it up when all was done. I was a little nervous dropping my comp off here since I didn't speak with a tech and no one called me to describe what happened. So I ended up calling a few times to check on the status and they were good about explaining what they were doing and what's next. Anyway, I would come back here if I have any more problems with my Mac or even to purchase new items. Kevin was pretty patient and helpful so I'd recommend him for questions.
