We came here on the recommendation of a friend. Otherwise was alright. The service was lacking. Our waiter spilled water on our table, then used one of the napkins from the silverware to clean it up, which did not do too much. The salsa and chips were really good. Our appetizer was the whole jalapenos stuffed with shrimp and cheese, that were deep fried. It was terrible. I wish they had specified it was not fresh jalapenos. They tasted either old or pickled. The shrimp had a very fishy taste to it. I got a combo with 2 cheese enchiladas, a tamal, and a flauta. The cheese enchiladas were good, but the cheese was hard. They'd been sitting out for awhile and were no longer melted. The tamale was terrible. The flauta was alright. Overall, it was not somewhere I would come back to. read more

Sometimes you just get that kind of service that makes you write a review. Normally I don't post bad reviews as we prefer to move on and go to different places instead but today the amount of indifference we got at this restaurant was too big to just let it pass. We arrived for lunch and walked in and there was no host or anybody to greet us, no big deal, we sat at the bar and the bartender promptly asked us what we wanted to drink. We placed our drink order ( Alicia's Rita's)and then proceeded to check the menu. We got our drinks (he didn't know how to make them so he asked for help from a lady dressed in black with a long ponytail) and then he started doing something else with some tickets ( I think he was closing), I had to get his attention to order our food because he never came back to ask us what we wanted to eat. We placed our food order and that was the last we saw him. He put on a small backpack and walked away. There was no good bye, no somebody will take care of you or I am leaving and the next person will take care of you.. nothing! By now my wife wanted a second drink but there was nobody to order. There was only a lonely server that looked rather miserably delivering food to the other 3 tables occupied inside the restaurant. He finally delivered our food and asked us if we wanted another drink. My wife placed the order and I asked him about the bartender and his response was: "he went on break" looking rather annoyed that I asked and he waved his hand. "I'll tell the manager to make your drink". Same lady dressed in black came back to the bar, made the drink and left it at what we assumed is the server station and went back inside the kitchen. The drink sat there until the server came back to pick it up and delivered to us. She could have easily just turned around the other way and give it to us but she didn't even acknowledge us. We were just about to cancel it but the server brought it to us just then. By now we were pretty annoyed at the lack of professionalism and " don't give a damn " attitude that everybody was displaying. I asked for my check and coincidentally it arrived rather fast. We paid and left and we didn't get a single good bye because there was nobody there. Needless to say we won't be coming back and we would rather go to a place were employees give a damn. In this era of COVID and restaurants barely surviving this inflation is rather incredible that nobody in this particular restaurant is interested in bringing business back or trying to keep the current business going. read more

We went to Alicia's as a group of eight on Christmas Eve. We appreciated that they were open, even though that's more common now. Service was OK, not great, but perfectly fine for a busy holiday evening. We noticed an unusual offering on their menu--Hawaiian Sand Fish. I can't find anywhere else that calls it this, but I suspect it's parrotfish. In any case it was reasonably priced so two of us ordered it. Mine was tender and well cooked, and came with delicious vegetables and a bed of spinach. It is slightly oily and "fishy", but I don't mind fish flavor so I enjoyed it, as did the other diner. We also had the mushroom enchiladas, which are not spicy at all but have a good mushroom flavor and are somewhat sweet. I've had fajitas there before and they are good also. Alicia's aims for a more upscale vibe and is somewhat expensive for Mexican food, so we don't get there often. They now have competition from Uncle Julio's in this space. But it's a solid choice in our neighborhood. read more

I used to frequent this Alicia's back in 2013 and 2014. My boyfriend and I would look forward to coming here every week because we loved the queso and how flavorful their fajitas were! I don't know what happened in the last 3 years but Alicia's is NOT the restaurant that it used to be and that is so disappointing!! I came here with a group of girlfriends and first thing I will note is that the service was just not up to par with simple expectations. All 5 of us sat there for 15 minutes before someone came to acknowledge our existence and ask for our drink order. As one of the girls was ordering her drink, she asked a question about 2 of their different offerings and the waitress got an attitude as if the questions were taking too much of her time and cut our friend off as she was speaking and said she'd come back later and literally just turned and walked away. We all looked at each other and laughed because we really couldn't believe it. We saw our waitress again about 20 minutes later when we got our drinks and she took our food orders (including the initial drink order of my friend she had walked away from). Someone else brought our food out and then after we had already completed our meals she came by asking if we wanted more to drink so we ordered another round before heading out for the night. When the tab came the pricing of the drinks was inconsistent with the drink menu pricing. The menu says 8.50 but we were charged 12. She said we ordered talls, which we hadn't. Each drink came out different sizes anyways, the sizing was also inconsistent so we were clearly frustrated but we decided to leave it be. She didn't even ask how our food was until we were getting up to leave lol...as if it mattered at that point. I will say we had 0 complaints about our food. We had fajitas and they were all delicious. 3 star rating is purely for poor service, lack of attention to customer and inconsistent pricing with a disregard for customer retention because we won't be back. read more

My husband likes to go here for lunch for a Nice margarita and some amazing fajitas.......He also enjoys and likes to eat a couple of their free ice cream cones at the end of the meal. I have only had food to go but overall my impression is I like it, which is more than I can say for most tex-mex resultants. Their beef fajitas are very tender, (they tenderize their skirt steak which is great) and among the best in the area. I wish their tacos al carbon would come with shredded cheese or some sauteed onions and peppers, they are fairly bare bones.They have good guac (amazingly many places do not make good guac). Their salsa is not one of my favorite's, it's far too watery with too many tomato. The rice and beans is your run of the mill, nothing memorable there. Good fajitas and guac! :edit: We order at least a couple times a month here and things are hit or miss. I asked for the cheese that is stated on their menu that is included with their tacos al carbon (which is never actually included anywhere) and they drizzled cheddar cheese on top of my tacos! Who does that!? Also they had the nerve to charge me for extra cheese! Also, whether we order 1 or 3 entree's, we only get a single tiny bag of chips so we asked for the appropriate amount of chips and we got charged extra ( A LOT) for 2 more small bags and a HUGE 16oz container of salsa (which we didn't ask for). Ridiculous! I take back what I said about their rice, it is above average and well cooked, good consistency, not dry and over-seasoned. I've adjusted my review accordingly. We do like some of their food especially their fajitas but 1. The food is not consistent and 2. I have had the cheese enchiladas which are quite good but once I tried the Puntas Chimino I was hooked. It is "tenderloin tips", cubed ham, chunks of bacon, and fresh sliced jalapenos plus some other vegetables that if your into that sort of thing. All thrown together fajita style. It comes with a big bowl of avocado relish which makes the whole thing better. Like most good mexican places it is always packed so the tile floors and big open spaces lead to a very loud dining room. The decor is nice and its clean. The service can be hit and miss. We eat here quite often and it's because of the delicious food, fast service, good prices, and proximity to our home. The parking is ample, location is easy to get to, and the wait times are generally none to only a few minutes. Their Steak Chipotle is exceptionally delicious as are their steak fajitas. The only real down side is that it can get very loud and the main room echoes a lot. Otherwise, it's a great place to eat and highly recommended. read more

I enjoyed eating here regularly pre-COVID, and I've been really impressed with their takeout service this year. Alicia's has done the best job of any area restaurant of providing their great dining experience via take-out. I usually order chicken enchiladas verdes or the lobster enchiladas. Both have been great. I usually call the order in and it's ready by the time I get there, which is usually less than the 20 minutes they ask for. Stopped in for Friday Dinner Night Out last night and had a great time. Lets start off and talk about the place. It gets BUSY.. very BUSY. So please don't be surprised if you have to wait from time to time. But hey, that means they are doing something right! My cousin comes for the Margaritas that are very flavorful .. and strong! But, crazy enough, we all had a little bite and it was fantastic! Who would have though a Mexican restaurant would be dishing out great burgers?! I've always known that the dining area is incredibly loud and echoey. But the food was ok (although far too pricey for "ok" food), so we kept coming back. But I discovered tonight that they have the worst carne guisada ever. It's literally just boiled meat. Squishy greasy and smelly. I noticed the smell first. It smelled like expired cold cuts. As for service... In our party of 8, two people waited an hour and 10 minutes to receive food. My carne guisada was disgusting, and the cheese enchiladas were cold. Service was horrible and SLOOWWW. Worst of all, it was a special occasion that was ruined. The birthday person felt terrible for choosing Alicia's, and the rest of us are unlikely ever to return. I've always considered Alicia's to be a middle of the range Mexican mini-chain in Houston, even though I had never visited once. With most locations out in the burbs, it was never exactly convenient for me to visit. I finally came one night and got pretty much what I expected. The only exception is that I found out they also serve several other dishes that most Mexican restaurants do not. Those dishes seem to be Italian-influenced. Mussels simmered in wine sauce, pan seared U18 scallops, baby back ribs, fried chicken tenders, and a whole portion of the menu dedicated to steaks such as tenderloin, ribeye, shish kabobs and a pan-seared steak served over spinach mushrooms and onions in a cabernet sauvignon sauce. The same restaurant group also owns Dario's on 290 and Spring Cypress, which I did visit a few years ago. On this visit, my table ordered beef fajitas and three other dishes not normally ordered at a Mexican restaurant. I didn't think the salsa was spicy, but everyone else at the table did. The fajitas are a fairly good deal since they come with all the fixings basically, unlike many other places around town which no longer serve either cheese or sour cream. Instead you have to add them on a la carte. Alicia's basic beef fajitas come on a sizzling skillet with a grilled serrano pepper, grilled onions and a whole green onion (instead of green bell peppers). Sides are borracho beans, Mexican rice, pico, cheese, sour cream and guacamole! The taste and texture of their Angus beef reminds me a little of Lupe tortillas beef fajitas. The clams were overcooked, the burger was decent and the chicken strips looked good too. I added a margarita on the rocks and this was one of the better basic margaritas, since they use all fresh-squeezed juices. Not sure I'll be back anytime soon, since it took me several years to even come ...but if you're in the area, I think it's much better than El Rancho. read more

There isn't much flavor and everything just feels kinda dry. Our server was quick to refill our drinks and their margaritas are nice and strong. I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon though. I rarely get to take my gorgeous wife out and due to both of us being on call 24-7 and having 3 kids younger than 5 it can be quite a struggle to get the freedom so when it does happen that we get enough time away choosing a good spot really becomes an important factor. We took a runs with this place but it being close and little time pushed us to give it a shot. I'm glad we did! Service was spectacular, the ambience was fitting and gave the sensation of being somewhere else while also clean and sane. The food was great! They were very busy but that did not prevent them from seating us within reasonable time and the waiter we had really hustled to get us our food but without making us feel rushed. I'd say this place has a lot of good people to make up it's staff and so long as it continues to operate with the quality my wife and I experienced hopefully we will see the family or those who own it succeed and open multiple locations. I ordered the carne asado and my wife had the enchiladas. Both were very good. We will definitely be back again! read more

This place has a great atmosphere when you walk in. It's about my 4th time eating there since living in Spring 2010. Tonight was a very special occasion since it was my birthday. Drinks were very good,the green sauce tasted kinda funny for the first time,food was properly prepared,and the server who waited on us was very kind.They even brought us dessert after the waiter overheard my wife saying it was my birthday!! I met my husband for lunch at Alicia's Mexican Grill. It has a wonderful atmosphere & the decor is very nice. The service was spectacular. I never once had to ask for a refill. We ordered the beef fajitas for two. The cost of our lunch was about $20.00. All of the food was freshly made. The flour tortillas were enormous. The down side was that the fajitas were terrible. They had too much lime juice and seasoning. It was so strong that the fajitas were too bitter to eat. Our server promptly informed the manager and our tab was waived. I will revisit Alicia's again but I will not be trying the fajitas. read more

I always look forward to this restaurant when I come back home from college. Food: The food here is absolutely fantastic. They have a diverse menu with items that I don't usually see at other Mexican restaurants. With that being said, I almost always order chicken quesadillas. The quesadillas taste like there is a party going on in my mouth every time I take a bite. There is a perfect balance between cheese and meat so that it is not overwhelmingly cheesy or too meaty. This is the only restaurant in the area that receives me and my family's business because of the food and drinks served. We have been going there for the past 4-5 years. Overall, the food is a great reason to pick this Mexican restaurant over any others in the area. 5/5. Service: The service has always been great. I have had my high school graduation in one of the group rooms and have visited many times after that. The waiters and bartenders always remember your name and what you order. 5/5. Environment: The environment is like any other Mexican restaurant, loud and busy. Waiters are always running around and there are groups of people everywhere. Took 20 minutes to get service for our order. I am currently the only one of a group of 6 ppl without my dinner because my 'Mar y Tierra' shrimps were frozen when my plate arrived. How can frozen shrimp be served without anyone inspecting? Fresh, not so much! And we waited over 30 minutes to be served - that was enough time for my food to have been DEFROST!
