Peso baked eggs, yummy!
Monyca W.

I've been here a few times for breakfast and it never disappoints. I love the pesto baked eggs and my husband goes for steak and eggs. They have an espresso machine so you can get a cappuccino, mocha, or latte. The place is cute and cozy inside, this morning they were playing old 80s music videos on the TV above the fireplace. The staff is friendly and warm. Don't forget to ask about the specials, they often have a few breakfast items that aren't on the menu. I keep meaning to get back here to try lunch or dinner items, but so far I can vouch for the breakfast as solid.

Freezer aisle French toast plate

The vibes are super cute and cozy and the staff is awesome but I didn't enjoy the food and coffee at all. I ordered a vanilla latte and the French toast plate. Both items were so beautiful !! It looked so good and I couldn't wait to dig in. The latte was a deep disappointment. It was incredibly sweet, even the foam at the top was a sugar bomb so I think they put vanilla syrup in both the bottom of the cup as well as the steamed milk. I couldn't actually taste the coffee. It just tasted like a kids type vanilla milk and left a weird after taste. Then I tried the French toast and realized these are the same type of French toast I buy from the freezer section when I go snowboarding. You pop them in the microwave but have to eat them quick otherwise the steam wears off and your French toast becomes stiff. They were not fresh, made from batter and cooked on a stove top. I don't think they microwaved them long enough because the corners were rock hard and the middle was a little rubbery. I wouldn't be upset if it wasn't $12 for the French toast. I should've just went to ihop lol. But again, at least everything looked pretty and the staff was nice.

Chilaquiles with steak and green sauce.

Our friend group does Saturday morning breakfast every week--aka Breakfast Club. We usually stick to our regular spots, but this time we decided to switch it up and try something new. Enter Alina's Café. After reading reviews and checking out photos, we were intrigued--and it absolutely delivered. When we were ready to order, our server (possibly the owner) walked us through the specials: Breakfast Enchiladas with steak (red or green sauce) and Chilaquiles with steak (again, red or green). Naturally, we ordered both. Every steak was ordered at a different temperature and each one was cooked perfectly. The sauces were rich, flavorful, and genuinely delicious. Service was prompt, friendly, and attentive without feeling rushed. Even though we were completely full, we couldn't resist grabbing one of their famous brioche cinnamon rolls to go. All around, a 5/5 experience. We'll definitely be adding this spot to the Breakfast Club rotation--and definitely wondering why we didn't come sooner.

Adorable place and they really mean it when they say dog friendly. Service was great and low-key. No rush but prompt. I've never had baked eggs but it was the perfect breakfast on a rainy day. I had to be out of the house with my little guy and for an hour. So happy we tried it! I will definitely be back.

We have come to this spot a few times now. Every time the food and service have been great. The baked pesto eggs is what brings us back but everything else is also very tasty! Hidden gem in Des Moines.

Mocha
Jessilyn C.

Ordered via Ubereats. I was getting my hair colored, and in didn't have breakfast yet. Never been to this place, and reviews were pretty good. Said it would take about 35 mins which no problem since it was 1030am. But I didn't get t good delivered until 1230pm. Again I don't have a problem with that since I have to wait for another hour for my color to process. What I did have a problem with is my mocha was very lukewarm, and the avocado toast had no flavor. There was pepper but no salt. I've never tasted such bland avocado toast. I guess the sweet notes cafe in Kent spoiled my tastebuds because theirs exploded with flavor. Also the mocha was a bit watered down besides not being hot. I'm siesta looking for a good place for breakfast. It's a bit far from where I live, but if their breakfast is good then I don't mind driving there to try other items on menu. So hopefully if I go in person, it'll be much better.

Cute and quaint place with unique breakfast items. Good coffee and baked pesto eggs seemed like the one to try if you're new here. Their yogurt in the parfait was very nice, it's a good and healthy treat all in one. Service is good too. Very nice people! I hope they continue to do well!

We stumbled upon this gem while looking for a quick breakfast and ended up having a wonderful breakfast. The moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm smile and seated right away. The staff here are incredibly friendly--attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely happy to be there.

A very comfortable seemingly local breakfast place. Dog friendly. My friend brought their dog. We called beforehand and the dog sat quietly under the table on a blanket. Photo of dog next time, lol. The side of scrambled egg was orders for the pup. I had already eaten so opted for the biscuit only with raspberry jam. It was such a fluffy, buttery texture perfectly balanced with the raspberry jam. The PG breakfast was ordered with scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon and sourdough toast. Nothing spectacular but definitely a solid breakfast. They also have a few pastries such as biscuits, cinnamon rolls and some yummy looking turnover style selections. Apple and cherry I believe. The mimosas came regular style or seasonal. Guava was the seasonal flavor this round. The place was packed and jamming. Excellent vibes too. Families, couples, friends, dogs all welcome. Strange though, when we ordered the eggs, the only option for being cooked was scrambled or over hard. Sort of strange. A tiny parking lot behind the restaurant. I think they might have more offerings on the weekend. Would love to back when I'm hungrier. Enjoy your life! SYOY!

Croque Madame and Split Pea Soup
Nancy C.

Tried for the 1st time. Has great potential but just not there yet. Got the croque madame - way to much dijon, tiny amount of bechemal, ham was hard (really burnt on the ends), bread was partially burnt: Split Pea soup - excellent, no complaints. Reuben with cesaer salad was ok. Pesto egg bake was excellent. Server said potatoes had green peppers so didn't get because they couldn't be taken out and fries weren't available. The other egg bake doesn't come with potatoes and they charge $4 less. Feel they should have just done a price adjustment. The place is cute. Server was very nice but needs to learn her menu. Took way toooooo loooooooong to get our food when there were only 2 other tables. Probably will try it again.

I am pleased to submit my second review. The food was reasonably good. Our selection included the biscuits, gravy sandwich with bacon, which required additional gravy. While the biscuit was somewhat hard, it remained tasty. My daughter's steak and eggs were pleasing. The Christmas-themed decor was, as always, beautifully arranged. The service was outstanding, and we will return soon.

Pictures and reviews looked good. Menu wasn't what I expected for a popular breakfast spot. And it wasn't very cozy. We didn't stay to eat.

We came by after happy hour at Anthony's and listened to a live set of great music. The place was packed, but everyone is friendly and was willing to share their table with us. We had a great time and I strongly recommend coming by the Quarterdeck to chill and listen to live music. Can't believe it took me 20 years of living in Seattle to find this place. So, don't repeat my mistake.

Quarterdeck is what I like to call a "come for the vibes, stay for the drinks, eat... somewhere…read moreelse" kind of place. I stopped by while visiting Seattle and while the food situation was a bit chaotic (they had rotating menus because they were out of a few items), I ended up ordering a kimchi-inspired sandwich that I wanted to love...but it just didn't do it for me. Not inedible, maybe a 2/5, but I'd definitely try something else next time. My friend ordered what I think was the Garden Harvest Wrap (a staple on the menu), and that was more of a 3/5. Both dishes were served cold (intentionally), which I think made a difference, I could totally see them being much better if they were warm. Now let's talk about what is worth it: the mimosa flight. SO good. Like dangerously easy to sit there, sip through all of them, and forget any minor food disappointments. But honestly, the real star here is the ambiance. You're right on the water with the most effortless, breezy, coastal energy. Boats drifting by, sun hitting just right, people lingering over drinks--it's giving main character energy in the best way. I found myself wanting to stay way longer than planned and even doing some work while there. This is absolutely a spot I'd come back to, just with a strategy: eat before or after, and come here to sip, sit by the water, and take a little walk on the dock. 5 stars for the vibes alone

The ice cream was also great with huge servings (my photo is only a junior scoop!). They do not make it in house but it's from Umpqua and Cascade Glacier. Waffle cones and bowls ($1.10) are available but also not made in house. Cake cones are an extra 25 cents. They also sell day-old muffins for $1. I got a blueberry muffin from that pile and it was still great and tasted homemade. There is street parking across the street and they have 3 parking spots in their small lot + a drive thru for coffee. The logo does not match their inside, which looks a lot more modern. UPDATE: 3/24/26... As a Yelp Elite member for 6 years, I…read morepride myself in giving fair reviews, whether good or bad. And with the bad, I strive to be positive on the experience that was good before giving suggestions or letting the owner know what fell short. I'm never out to bash a business. Rather, as an owner, if you pride yourself in customer service, you will take what a sincere Yelp Elite reviewer has to say, step back and see how you can improve. I just read the comments another reviewer posted a few days ago and saw that they were berated as well. I had nothing to gain from giving the review I did and it's unfortunate that you're no longer going to be in business, but there were two other people with me that came to this consensus. With that, I will reply to the unfortunate remarks slammed at me, the reviewer. Let me preface by saying I asked for a pic with the owner before tea service started. If it was said that we had a wonderful and lovely time, it was not by me but one of my friends who, when asked how everything was, couldn't think of anything else to say. Also, I wasn't going to express all of this in front of the owner at the time because I had others with me. So, to rebel and ask me if my mother is still alive and did she teach me to behave like this? Well, all I can say is your reaponse as a business owner is extremely childish and unprofessional. I didn't make the food. I reviewed it and if that means it's not the best review, so be it. It pains me not to give a business owner a good review because that's not what we as Elite members strive for. That said, lashing out is not the answer. At least I have the maturity and diplomacy to put these comments in without getting into a mud fight like you chose to do. Review..... My two girlfriends and I came here for afternoon tea. Since I'm the Yelp reviewer, I asked them for their input and so it was a consensus of the three of us. Here's what went right. It was nice to have a carafe of water at our table, there were beautiful flowers and dyed water to match in the vase, the teacups and saucers were very pretty, the owner was extremely nice. Here's what we thought needed a second look. The sign in the store advertised cheese and fruit for the afternoon tea but it didn't appear. When we asked we were told it didn't come with it but we could get some if we wanted. Please revise the sign as people do notice. Suggest you have a selection of three sandwiches rather than two of each. One was a small croissant filled with egg salad and if we hadn't been told that we thought it might be chicken. The other was a cucumber sandwich which although it's nice to have thin slices of cucumber, these were razor thin. Sort of disappointing that there was so little on a beautiful piece of bread. They scones were nothing special. Perhaps have something inside whether it be cranberry, currant etc. The sweets consisted of a Mexican wedding cake which was rather dry and was there a detection of almond extract? The orange macaron, as beautiful as it was, lacked flavor of orange. I was expecting a nice burst of something but it just wasn't there. The fondant on the petit four was much too thick, and sweet. Whatever fashion the raspberry is used, keep a bit of that tart flavor to offset the sweetness from the fondant. The effort was there, things just felt short.

Upon entering we were greeted by a gracious hostess, Sheeta. She was very welcoming, patient and kind while seating us. Jenn and I were seated and placed our beverage orders with Sheeta. I wanted to try their bloody mary; I've never had one...and, after that one, I don't plan on having another ever! It's really not a drink flavor genre I'm partial to. Our waitress Shelly took our order, I can honestly say I've absofreakinlutely had better customer service. Jenn ordered biscuits and gravy and an order of country fried steak and eggs to go. Once she stated her request Shelly asked for her order specifics in a stem quiz like manner. That threw me off so when she turned to me I said "Gimme a minute so I can study for the quiz!" I thought it was funny, so did Jenn...Shelly simply walked away. Eventually she returned and I ordered a sausage breakfast burrito with country style potatoes. My platter wasn't eat-worthy in my most honest, humble opinion and I did try to doctor it up a bit but there's only so much you can do in critical condition. The potatoes were hit and miss...literally; one bite of potato would be just right and the next bite would be luke warm or not fully cooked through. I'm addition I was going to pick between hotcakes and french toast, after choosing between country potatoes or hash browns for my burrito dish she said thanks and swiftly walked away. She remained short with us. I observed Shelly interacting with her other guests and she was very personable, polite and eager to recommend dishes...stark reality: everyone else in the restaurant was white with the acception of another interracial couple and the awesome hostess. I believe they received the same short sited service we got! It was a disgusting exhibit of 2 faces in 1 person. Jenn's biscuits and gravy showed up 1st. She took a bite then asked me to taste it, with a sour look...which made me say 'no thank you' right off the bat! She said the gravy was bland and didn't really taste like gravy...she added salt and pepper, a lot of pepper. Then the country fried steak and eggs arrived and the steak had too much breading with no real flavor or seasoning to the steak, it made the whole entree taste like "mush," she explained. The eggs would've been ok if they hadn't had the gravy on them. While we were attempting to eat either dish at our table my breakfast burrito arrived and...I was abundantly underwhelmed. It was 'cakey' and dry and after mixing the sour cream, salt and pepper into the pico de gallo, the burrito still had no real taste context...not even breakfast, much less a breakfast in Mexico! The next day I tried to doctor up the burrito to no avail...it was no use. I won't be back; Egregious Epic Fail!
