The server brought two tiny bottled waters after asking still or sparkling. The bill showed $18 for them. Throughout the meal our waiter overtly pointed us toward the priciest items. Every recommendation was the most expensive thing on the menu. The tip screen is set up in descending order, so the first button is 25 percent... The food was fine at best. Small portions for the price. We left hungry and annoyed. If management cares, fix the water upsell, train staff to offer options across the menu, stop the tip-prompt games, and price portions to match the cost. I wanted to love this place--the design and location set the stage for a cozy Mediterranean escape. Unfortunately, the execution fell short at every turn. The wine by the glass was tiny, the dips came with nothing to dip them in (and flatbread was an extra $8), and every dish lacked seasoning--so bland that I had to ask for salt four different times before anyone finally brought a large shaker from the kitchen. Service felt inattentive too; my water was never refilled unless I specifically asked. But beyond the technical missteps, what disappointed me most is that Alisa doesn't reflect the essence of the Mediterranean dining experience. In Greece or anywhere around the Mediterranean, meals are never rushed. You're encouraged to settle in, order as you go, share, linger, and feel at home. Here, I was pressured to place my full order at once, which stripped away the relaxed, welcoming energy that defines real Mediterranean hospitality. Alisa looks beautiful, but looks alone can't carry a restaurant. I worked as a server in a restaurant for 2 year and can 1000% tell when a server is rushing a party of 2 because they want to tend to a larger party/get on with their night/ turn the table over because their section is small. It was very obvious that was happening to my girlfriend and I the other day at Alisa. We got there hungry and threw in an order for one of the dips. Some people on here have complained that each piece of bread that doesn't come included for the dips costs $8 but honestly I'm NOT because that was some of the best bread I've ever had in my entire life. Seriously. Probably the best thing on the menu. Could have charged me $9 and you still wouldn't hear a peep out of me. So good. The beer I ordered came warm which is fine, things happen. When I told our server, he said he would "bring a cup of ice" because they just got a new shipment of beer in and none of them have been in the fridge. I said it doesn't have to be this beer just any beer that's cold and he's like "Nope. Shipment just came." Does that mean they literally ran out of beer the night before? What? No way. I kept pushing for a colder bottle of beer and he eventually brought me an ice cold beer in 30 seconds which tasted great. (I realize it's a wine place and would have gladly pivoted if they actually had no cold beer.) The main issue we had is that our server came up to us as we were just getting settled in, still hadn't looked at the menu thoroughly, and said "hey it's getting really busy so you should probably order everything right now, I don't want the kitchen to get backed up and your food to take forever" which is valid if it actually got busy but it never did. He rushed us through the decision making process and just stood there. Our food was out super fast everything all at once and we were finishing up our entrees 40 mins after we arrived. Never got busy. At first I thought he was being the man and looking out for us to ensure we didn't have to wait an hour for our food but it literally never got busy. So many open seats. He also asked if he could "get these out of the way" when our plates still had half of the food on them. Probably 3/4 of our tentacle (very yummy, get that) It was kind of crazy. We just started eating our entrees and buddy with the earrings kept trying to rush us. This move especially is a textbook "let's get these guys out of here so I can go home/get my next table" move which I admittedly have done on special occasions when I was a server. He was just itching to grab these plates as we were eating (which he eventually stacked on the table before picking them up, but it's all good) It was just odd. I'm trying to have a nice date night with my girlfriend at this restaurant we wanted to try and this guys just rushing us. Maybe it was his first day or something so I cut him some slack at the end on the toast tablet but yeah not really the relaxing vibe that we thought we were going to get out of Alisa. read more

Alisa is an absolute hidden gem on Abbot Kinney! Honestly so fresh for the area, so authentic and might I say, stunning? The design and aesthetics are unmatched. The menu is truly worth exploring (aka try everything), from the warm flatbread to the perfectly tender Wagyu sirloin skewers with shishito tzatziki, the smoked tomato salad, the grilled halloumi, and so much more. Every dish feels intentional and beautifully balanced. And don't miss the epic NA sparkling rosé, it totally made my day! What a perfect singular selection for NA options in wine. Very impressive, not too sweet, no overarching acidity. The space itself is a dream, peaceful, artful, and transportive. The wood fire experience alone is reason enough to come back again and again. Who knew such a gem existed on Abbott Kinney? Alisa apparently just opened a few months ago and it looks JUST like a restaurant in Greece! I will start with the positives. This space is lovely. It has a really charming, cozy interior and a beautiful outdoor courtyard. The menu has a nice variety of options. My friend loved her lamb chops and I really enjoyed the grilled halloumi. The hummus and crudite were fine. Pita was lovely. The Greek salad was so cold it felt like it had previously been frozen. The tomatoes were mushy and the salad lacked flavor. There was a brick of feta cheese on top that was the highlight. The service was wild. When the server asked if we were ready to order, I had recently arrived and I said "yes, they can start and I'll make a quick decision." he looked at me, his eyes went wide, and he said "are you sure you're a woman? Quick decision?" and then proceeded to laugh at his own joke. It was a failed attempt at humor, but we sort of brushed by it, not thinking too much of it. At the end of the meal when he dropped the check my friend put her card down, to which he responded "only one card?" and looked at the one male at the table. She confirmed that was correct and he could charge her card and he told her that she's breaking stereotypes as he proceeded to pick it up. "You're breaking the stereotype. A woman paying!" when I tell you, he was genuinely surprised, I am not kidding. We were all so confused about this very weird sentiment he kept bringing to the table about women. He then said something along the lines of "are you sure? did you look at the check? It's this much money." She continued to say yes, while he continued to communicate his surprise. The vibe was strange. And unexpected. If you wanna spend that much money on Abbott Kinney, I'd recommend going to RVR. Their service is impeccable and friendly and they don't miss with their menu. read more

My partner and I went here for a date night and it was 10/10!! It's got beautiful decor throughout the indoor/outdoor space and a unique layout that added to the ambiance. If the restaurant was 10/10, our server Frances was a 20! She arrived quickly after we sat down and guided us through the wine list. We ended up choosing a funky Greek wine that was perfect with dinner. It's a shared plates style menu so we ordered spanakopita, spicy feta dip, wagyu sirloin skewers, lamb chips chops, and dark chocolate moose. My favorites were the wagyu skewers and dessert - but all the food was wonderfully seasoned and cooked to perfection. Even though it was a large space and packed on a Friday night, the evening still felt intimate. I look forward to coming back to Alisa and hope it stays on Abbot Kinney for years to come! read more

I can't remember the last time I have left a yelp review for anything. As someone who has dinner out 4 to 5 times a week I can easily say this was the worst dining experience I've had in the last two years. Horrendous service, and mediocre food. Yes the garden outside is nice and they have cool fruit trees that I at one point considered eating off of. We were left alone outside to the point the hostess ended up taking our order after 45 minutes over to our waiter. Later, we got a new waiter who said the other waiter was gone who then also disappeared. read more

Frances is the best! She had amazing recommendations for the delicious food. The ambience and the staff are warm and welcoming. The warm fresh pita bread and dips are delicious. The complimentary olives are the best and complement the dry Greek wine. Everything is relatively reasonably priced, however a la carte adds up quick. our favorites were the wagyu skewers (a MUST) the Romesco dip, and those roasted potatoes that melt in your mouth and have the perfect charcoal smoky flavor. I was at Alisa last night with friends. I knew before I went that the menu lacks vegan options other than dips, bread and a salad. Given that Greek food offers many main dishes that are or could be vegan, this is a disappointment. The space, as others have noted is pretty and we enjoyed a wonderful bottle of wine. My friends are meat eaters and loved it and they'll be back. It will be a while before I return because while I enjoyed the appetizers we ordered, it's not satisfying to eat appetizers only when the rest of your table has a proper meal. read more

I have to say that the staff and the servers were absolutely delightful, but the food was crap; we ordered a Greek salad, which was OK a brand Zeno, which was rather dry, and beef skewers that were supposed to medium rare, but they were past well done and very dry. Gorgeous little authentic Greek restaurant on the quieter end of Abbot Kinney. Food was delicious, and the patio was one of the most beautiful I have been to in LA. Service was warm and personal. Shared the meze and skewers and the farmer's greens (you know a good cook when the vegetable sides really shine). Excellent wine selections. Don't skip dessert! Will go for brunch next time. I called on a whim to see if they had space for me and my mama, she was visiting from out of town and the host graciously squeezed us in when they opened. The service, the ambiance, the food, the presentation of the food, I am not exaggerating when I say this is the best restaurant in LA. You can get as much food as you want, share some light delicious appetizers (specially the feta with smoked tomato jam) or indulge in their mains (chicken skewer and octopus) dare I say you have not had chicken or octopus until you have tried these ones?!
