I have had two awesome experiences here! First my Dryer was broke and I was trying to be mister-fix-it and fix the dryer myself. Long story short I was stuck, drove over her to talk to ALKA and see what they would cost to fix it for me. Instead, he walked me through how to fix it on my own, at no cost, (who does that?) and was extremely helpful and nice. He sold me the part I needed for a very reasonalbe price and went home and had it down in not time thanks to his perfect instructions. Then, my fridge in my garage went out, so I called to have ALKA check it out for me after a great first experience and they didnt let me down. They came same day and figured out the problem and fixed it for a very reasonable price. They were very professional and helpful. I can't say enough good things about these people! We got our refrigerator from them several months ago and the service, price and delivery was just great! We bought it and they delivered it that same afternoon. So, when our washer and dryer were both breaking down, we went back to them. This time we got to experience their repair service. I found this business looking in Craigslist for another good used fridge. They advertise in Craigslift for a free service call if you live within a certain radius or $20 for further. Shoot! for $20 compared to all other businesses ($60 and up), I decided to try them. They opened at 10am, but called me at 9:45am and after a few questions said they can send someone between 11am - 1pm. well, at 11am Carlos called to say he was on his way. Carlos was kind, and very thorough as he checked all possible problems with my fridge. He was polite in answering my questions and educated me a bit on how things worked. After diciphering the problem, and at a fair price, he fixed it and I am happy. I would definitely call them again. there is a 30 day warranty too. read more

Lesson learned - always get at least two estimates. He said a part needed to be replaced (he said something like $50-60 for part). It took him 10 minutes to install. I asked for old part and looked it up in the internet and found that exact part cost $5-10. He charged me $138.00 for work done. read more

Have bought several appliances from Alka and have been happy in general, but what I want to comment on is the washing machine experience. Bought a washing machine which was delivered and installed as promise plus they removed the old machine. A few days later the machine started going off balance more often than not. Alka had a repairman out the next day who worked on it. That improved things but didn't completely fix them. When I called to tell them - that day they had a team of 2 people out and they worked on it for almost 2 hours. Well, that was approx. 5 years ago and it has only gone off balance 2 or 3 times since then, always with a large towel load which is common in any machine. Customer service great! Our Kenmore combination unit recently started screeching during the drying cycle and not having a dryer is not an option. We were not sure what to do so first we called the number for repair on the unit itself. We spoke with Sears and they wanted to charge $89.00 just to send someone out, this was beyond ridiculous and no way were we willing to pay that. Saturday afternoon I called Alka appliances and described the problem, they said it sound like the bearing but needed to inspect the unit to be sure. They informed me that a service visit would be $25, however it could be applied to the cost of repair. The first available appointment was for Monday - the service technician arrived within the window, inspected the unit and left the estimate. I called him back and spoke about the issue and he said he would be back the next day to complete the repair. The dryer is now working great again and better than ever with no noise or issues, with the added benefit of a 6 months warranty on the repairs. My only complaint and reason for the -1 star is that the service tech was not very clean and left the dryer and my laundry room a mess. Their was black stuff on the side of the dryer and lint/debris everywhere that I would have expected to have been cleaned up. read more

What a great company. I came in on Saturday to look for a fridge, they had several to choose from and they were all in great condition. I was met at the door and they helped me right away with measuring which fridge would fit my needs. I purchased the fridge and they delivered it that very same day. I had a problem with my Dryer it was making a lot of noise... As soon as I called ALKA Appliances the person on the phone told me they could send Carlos the Repairman within two hours of me making that telephone call and that they would charge $20 dollars for an estimate, that the $20 would go towards the price of fixing my dryer as well if it had any problems, so I said yes specially since I had called other places that same day and they tried to charge me $70 for an estimate... Carlos called me to let me know that he was on his way 10 minutes before my appointment time, once he arrived he very easily took my DRYER apart and within 15 minutes told me what the problem was. Needless to say the guy is a TRUE PROFFESSIONAL and really knows what he's doing. He gave me a very reasonable price under $200 including installation and 3 months warranty to boot I said yes and the the rest is history DRYER got fixed. I see a lot of people say that they have had a good experience with service from this place. Mine was not good at all. Called to get my refrigerator repaired, guy came 1 1/2 late said he got stuck at another appt. which is understandable but never called to say he would be late. So had to pay a house sitter basically for nothing as by the time I got home from work the guy had not even showed up. He comes and he's nice don't get me wrong he fix the refrigerator and I pay he leaves. The next day it starts to do the same thing I call back they say we will send him back out. He comes and looks at it and fix again what he said he already fixes at this point I'm about $220 having paid them already. I say what's the problem why did it stop working again he say the refrigerator needs to be replaced now I'm like what the hell. I paid you $220 for what to come tell me that, I could have places that money towards a new one. He say no worries I'll try and get it to work. By this time my husband is coming in from work and stops and ask him how's everything going, he say oh sirr it's going great I'm getting it to work. My husband thanks him and walk to the room. The guy say I have to get something from the van. Only to go outside and call my phone I go out and he say the refrigerator is no good it needs replacement it cannot be fixed. I say j paid you $220 I need my money back he say i called the office and supervisor say I cannot do refund because I did come out and try and fix it. I began to go off and I call the office and talk to Josh who seem as if he understands. He inform me to put the worker back on the phone for him to speak with him. To my understanding he's telling them to give me my money back. He talks to his worker then end the call, the guy say okay Josh tell me I can give you back $30. I stand there shocked I say $30 he say yeah and then goes on to try and explain where the refund amount came to $30 I tuned him out as my mind began to race. I said sirr I'm going to get my husband and you'll can deal with him farther on the matter. The guy gets in his truck and leave. Wow my husband calls the office and They act as if they never told the guy that and they apologize so much for the inconvenience and that if we want to get a new refrigerator that they can give us one at a deal at 20% off. Like no we paid $220 for ours to be fixed and if YALL can't do that then give us back or money or pug that $220 towards another one. My husband not wanting to argue or get upset told them Thank you and informed them that we or anyone we no will never do business with them and ended the call. My refrigerator broke down in december. Called ALKA because they were referred to me by a friend. Unfortunately it was right before the family business closes down for the holidays for a few weeks. They still managed to make it out and try and fix it. Unfortunately the compressor that was changed didnt work properly but since i had it fixed basically the day before the business was closed and Carlos was out of town for weeks it was impossible for him to come back and fix it right away. I feel that he did absolutely everything he could from a distance to help.he kept in contact with me the whole time. He sent other colleagues to try to help and when that didnt work he offerred me a loaner fridge to use until he was back to take care of my fridge himself. As i have small children,i really needed a working fridge. He sent someone right away and That worked out great. When he retured he made an appointment and fixed it for me. It took a couple more visits and im sure by this point it was hardly a profit for him as he had to spend sooo much time on us. But he did what he promised and fixed it. I saw this company's ad on Craigslist. They had very attractive prices so I had my handyman pick up a washing machine for one of my tenants. To make a long story short, the machine that was picked up by my handyman is not the same machine on the ad and what the lady told me of the quality of items they sell. I was expecting a newer model (not a VERY old machine). They do have a 3 month warranty but doesn't really mean anything because I asked them to check the machine since it's putting holes in my tenant's clothes but I was told that there's nothing wrong with the machine. A guy that works there said it's because the machine doesn't have a delicate cycle. So I asked for the machine to be exchanged but was told they don't exchange their items. I would not trust the quality of the items in this store and would definitely not recommend this place. read more

I can only speak to their customer service and service techs. I have used Alka Appliances twice; once for my oven in September and most recently for my refrigerator last week. Both time Carlos was sent out and did an excellent job. When he came out for my oven, he quickly determined the problem and it was resolved within 15 minutes. When I called regarding my refrigerator, Carlos called me back....asked me a few questions, determined what he thought to be the issue, ordered a part and delivered and installed the part 2 days later when the part was received (I appreciated the fact he was able to do this over the phone and that I didn't have to sit around for 2 different service calls). He stayed in communication the whole time as far as notifying me when the part would arrive, when he would arrive for service and then following up to let me know he would be a bit later than anticipated. 5 STARS - EXCELLENT SERVICE AND NICE PEOPLE. My 30 year old washer broke so I called ALKA. I had no idea what kind of company they were. Alex answered and was so kind and helpful on the phone. I really appreciate good customer service and this family owned business has it all! Alex was kind enough to text me photos of his washer/dryer sets. He then took the time to send close ups of the dials. I wasn't sure I was able to go in to see them. He said I could pay over the phone and they would be delivered. In the end, I went to their clean and nice store. Big Selection! I chose to just replace the washer this time and they delivered within two hours of me paying for it! That is awesome service. And they removed my old washer which was wonderful. I would definitely recommend ALKA. I will go there again when I need anything. find another appliance store you will be glad you did save yourself the headache from this inconsiderate business. purchased a kenmore refrigerator from them on 3/7/2013. it is apr 8 2013 and the frig is leaking!! there is a large puddle of water under the frig. i called carlos this morning about this problem. he said he would look at it. however, i purchased a warranty with them and i am still under warranty but because i live greater than 10 miles from norwalk ca they have to charge me $30 to look at/fix the problem! smh i have a warranty! really?! so someone in norwalk gets their appliance fixed for free and i have to pay even with a warranty? what's the purpose of the warranty then right? when i asked carlos why i have to pay the $30 he said it is for gas!! wow really so i have to pay you gas to fix a frig that broke in a month that you guys sold me ..where does that even begin to make sense?! carlos is exrtremly rude, terrible customer serivce. when i said that i am running a little late trying to get home his response was "oh my gosh i am so busy i have so much work to do..." really you have so much work to do i wonder why? maybe if the appliances that you guys sell wouldn't break you have that much work...(just a thought) when i arrived home carlos was standing outside i told him thanks, but no thanks i will take care of it myself you were extremely rude to me and in a rush to do other work. he said then if you don't want me to fix it that voids the warranty..!! wtf! really wow so now i don't have a warranty i guess because i didn't want carlos to fix the frig because he treated me like shit..smh..sooo....yeah if you want to pay gas money to a company because their appliance broke in a month and experience terrible customer service go to alka appliances. please take your time and money elsewhere. customers should be treated with respect. this appliance that they sold me broke and he showed no concern and voided my warranty. shop elsewhere! read more

Yes, everything looks great and they are very nice. However, their products are worn out appliances that have been "prettied up". I bought a refrigerator from them about 18 months ago. From the start it was very noisy but I figured "whatever, it's not brand new, as long as it works well". And it seemed to- until now. I had a repairman out (who has VERY good reviews on Yelp) and it turns out there is no freon- none. This is because there are multiple leaks in the tubing. According to him, this is caused by dirty coils, which in turn caused overheating, which in turn caused the leaks. And since the coils are clean now and I have never cleaned them, this obviously happened before I got the refrigerator. It was the repairman's opinion that ALKA knew about the problem when they "reconditioned" the fridge. And yeh, I saw the corrosion when the back plate was removed. No way anyone could miss that. Nice. I guess it only had to last until the warranty was up. So buyer beware- their stuff is only pretty on the outside... :/ read more

These guys ROCK!!!....my old fridge took a dive over fathers day weekend, hubby was working out of town, he got home....to find the food in coolers ....was not happy, i jumped on-line...found a fridge through google at ALKA...showed my very upset dusty dirty sunburnt hubby, he gave them a call it was 5 min to closing time and he talked to Alex who quickly understood our desperation, and scheduled our delivery for the next morning..... with a 2 hr delivery window from 10-12....just before 10am Carlos called to let me know they where on the way, they took my old fridge out and brought the new fridge in like clock work, it was AWESOME!!!....the fridge was exactly how it looked on-line, the delivery was very professional and I will absolutely refer these guys to anyone looking for a fridge! ....also, the price for the fridge was fantastic....especially for an emergency major appliance purchase....Thank You ALKA Appliances for making our disaster easier to recover from :0)... read more
